HP iPAQ HX2490b (WM5)
Telegesis ETRX2CF (version 2)
I'm unable to talk to the telegisis card, reinstall driver from their website, card worked on a different (newer) iPAQ-WM6 classic.
I verified the cf slot work with a cf card
can anyone provide me a support on this very old OS/device (work project)
i also saw Spiaaties link about the WM6.5 upgrade
i'm very tempted to try it (if it's still available), just wondering if how can i downgrade back to wm5 if the Spiaaties rom does work

Hey guys. The Special Edition ROM is a good idea, but I've just lost all connectivity with my XDA:
After installing the new ROM Image, I'm unable to use Active Sync (therefore unable to flash the old ROM provided by Othaman OR to get my data restored from the laptop), PIE or any other service. The device will just not connect to anything else.
Any help with restoring the previous ROM would be greatly appreciated - if only I could get my XDA to connect with ActiveSync....
Please help - my XDA is as good (or as bad) as a phone now...
You can install a new ROM via the SD-Card and the bootloader....
Regards
Stefan
Okay here's the difficult part:
1. I have a couple of SD Cards with me, but no reader.
2. Am currently in Africa for a couple of months, so no way of getting hold
of a reader for that period at least.
3. I do have my old Sagem WA3050 (Win CE 2.11) with a compact flash card (128 mb).
4. This sounds tortuous, but would it be possible to (1) copy the old ROM Images to the storage card (Compact Flash) of my Sagem PPC; (2) Beam the files over to my Qtek P1010 and write it on to the SD Card; (3) Use this image now to restore the ROM
I'm desperate ! Need some way out !
PROBLEM SOLVED & ISSUE CLOSED
Turns out that Active Sync wont work with either Serial Cable or IR with the new Special Edition ROM. Hence had my USB Cradle flown down today and was able to sync. Flashed the new O2 RAM with a little help from AdaptROM.
Thank you, xda-developers for the suggestion (try using USB).
For those in a similar fix, try USB.
The new ROM, out today, fixes the original problem, and any other outstanding issues we're aware of...

Tested with TomTom version 3 - how did you get that to install on a WM2005 device?? - Mike
TomTom 3 installs fine on the device.
If memory serves, the problem was with the Windows side of the installer. It didn't like the newer ActiveSync that WM5 required.
The solution was to launch the installer. Find the CAB files that the installer extracted and copy them manually to the device. There is alot of guides around the internet on how to do this.
Once I had done this once, I (as I still do) keep a copy of all the software I install on my device on the SD card. So I can reinstall all the software and my certificate from the SD Card, without needing a PC. In fact, I cannot remember the last time i connected to Windows with a WM device!
Forgot to say.
I also think there was a problem with no-sound, but there was an updated DLL floating around the internet that corrected the problem, although I don't think that it was official.
I am a newcomer about PDA devices. I have a Qtek S200 (Prophet) device and i have some problems with it. It has Windows Mobile 5. I did not upgrade it with a new rom. So here are my questions and problems about this device. Please respond me.
1- Wifi Problem = I have an access point at home (US Robotics 5451) and i am using it with WPA2 security. So when i try to connect with my PDA it connects but a few seconds later connection losts. But when i do not use WPA2 or another encryption system i can connect with my PDA easily. What can i do to solve this problem?
2- .NET Framework Upgrade = I have tried to install Microsoft .net framework 2.0 to my devices storage card but when i do that my device gives an error message. It says " Main memory of device is low please free some" so i could not install it perfectly and when i try to install stg. that needs .net framework 2 or higher problems arise about installation. What can i do?
3- ROM Upgrade = I really would like to upgrade my prophet device. I want a rom with TouchFLO application so anybody can help me about it? What rom should i install?
I think a WM6 (not 6.1) ROM would be best they have .NET CF 2.0 built in, and have been around long enough for the problems with WiFi to be removed. I personally would recommend one of Gullums "Prophet Touch" series as they are stable and have the cube built in, or something like PDAViet 4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319206&highlight=Prophet+Touch) I think they use the "old" method of upgrading, so look at that rather than the "new" method.
EDIT: for a simpler upgrade, I would use one of gullums Coffie ROMs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355915&highlight=Prophet+Touch) they use the "new" method for upgrading. Info on that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350033
As my MDA (HTC Wizard) stopped working (looking for a new phone to replace it--perhaps the IPAQ 910), in the meantime I've gone back to my prior phone, the Audiovox SMT-5600, which is the HTC Typhoon, running WM 2003 Smartphone. I'm on the T-Mobile (USA) network.
So, until I get a new phone, I'm trying to configure my Typhoon to work better for me
The SMT-5600 comes with the Tao Intent JVM. I was able to install the new Opera Mini with it. However, I'm not able to do with it any of the hacks I've read about here--like making a shortcut to go right to OM (without the Java screen first), and to eliminate the screen asking permission to connect to the internet. (I guess most of those hacks are for JBED.)
Also, I cannot install either the Gmail app, or the Google Maps (Java version) with the TAO JVM. When I go to the m.google.com site, and download the gmaps.jad, i end up getting an error message from Tao, about not being able to install it. (OT-I also tried installing the WM version of Google Maps, and that wouldn't install on the SMT-5600 either. Perhaps it is only for WM5 and later.)
Anyhow, I am wondering if any alternative JVMs (to the TAO) exist, that will work on this phone? (Menneisys, are you reading?) I tried a few JBED versions downloaded from this site, and haven't yet found one that will install on the Typhoon.
I do have the IBM J9 installed, from years ago, when I originally used the phone. But I have not been able to get it to work successfully. (I have it installed to storage card, and don't know if that is a problem. It is large though, and no room to install in internal memory.)
Anyhow, any JBED versions that will work on this phone (with WM2003), or any that would work better than the TAO?
Can anyone suggest a WM6.5 compatible wifi card?
are you sure ones made for wm5 and wm6.1 don't work ?
the driver model changed with the move from windows CE4 to CE5 with wm5
but since wm6.5 still use CE5 older drivers could easily work

I've got an old SanDisk CF card, the drivers install but inserting the card, WM6.5 says it's unrecognised and asks me to name it.
I've tried naming it the same as the driver installs but had no joy getting it to work.
do you know what chipset of the sandisk cf is?, I've just bought an pretty old xi-825 with intersil prism 2.5 chipset, i search through the net and found a driver for asus wl-110 from asus homepage, it says CE 4.2 but i can get it working with those...
When ask its name usually write the driver filename, in its case is prismnds.dll, but you need to install the .cab with drivers first, soft reset and insert the CF card, and put the filename...
