Hi All,
Does anyone know how to save the existing photos from your contacts back to the phone so they can be viewed?
I've lost the original photos for some of my contacts and only have the copy within the contacts app....
Perhaps there's a folder somewhere with them in?
I think they all reside in the file pim.vol in the root folder (hidden). Not sure if you can get them back though...
[quickfix]Maybe use a screen grabbing app while viewing the contacts?[/quickfix]

Like your way of thinking!
If u put the photo in your outlook 2003 contact on your pc one's, they will show in your pda after u will sync it.
the WM5 takes all (incl pic's) data from your pc.
so this is my best backup.
I had some files mainly photos on the Phone and when I tried to sichronize with the PC using the active sinc, received an error and now all the photos seemed to be erased on the phone and they are not on the PC neither.
Does anyone knows if there ia any way to recover this files on the Phone?
If they were on your miniSD card, any undelete program should recover them.
they were in the memory of the phone.
Any suggestion?

If you Google 'file recovery program' you'll get plenty of hits, some even free. If your phone shows up as a drive when synced to your computer you may be able to use this type of software to get your photos back. Don't take any more pictures or add any further software to your phone as this may overwrite your missing photos. I've used a program called Photo Recovery for years (the name may have changed by now) and it has recovered all kinds of files for me, not just photos. It cost me around $20 US. Good luck!
How to I make the exported pictures from my computer to my phone be kept at the original resolutions? Them seem to become thumbnails when I look at them in my Album.
For some strange reason i appear to have every photo i've posted on Facebook in the photos section in my phone . I can't delete them in the normal way

No it wont. If you connect the phone to the pc and check all the albums zune, you will see only those physically saved on your phone. Those FB albums were just showing a preview, and you need data connection to view it.

That's not quite true.
What actually happens is that when you first view the album you will, indeed, need a data connection to view the album, but then the photo thumbnails are cached to the phone.
If you don't have a data connection when you view an album, which you have already cached, then the only thing that is different is that you'll get a message saying "cannot update album at this time". If you try to click on an image, you won't be able to view it.
Oh and the cache remains even after a reboot.
Try it yourself
But let me just say, it's only the thumbnails of the photos that are saved, not the full res photos.
EDIT: Ah, actually, reading through your post again, maybe that's what you meant keiboy!
My S8+ arrives and will load from scratch. Im replacing my Note 4 running 6.0.1. I'm trying to get all high resolution/large contact photos.
Here are different ways I have done it in the past;
1. I use Microsoft Exchange 2016/Office 365 to sync my contacts which I beleive does not allow the transfer of full res contact photos.
2. I have created a folder with all my contacts in it. I can use Cheetah Sync tool to update my laptop folder with the phone and then go into each contact and add the photo. Its a clunky way and everytime I get a new phone, I have to manually go in and add everytime.
3. I can create in Gmail duplicate contacts with the photos already attached. I believe those will transfer to the phone as full res. And then LINK the contacts.
4. I used Sync.Me to pull photos from Facebook. The problem is none of those were high res. I purchased the license but maybe I did not have it confiigured correctly or perhaps Facebook shut down the ability to do it with high res photos
Has anything changed in Android 7.0 or on the S8+ to make this any easier or automatic? I dont plan to root the device.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
