Anyone ever heard of their chassis coming away from the glass above the port? Woke up this morning to find this.

My GTab does not have this problem and I plug it in to charge every evening. Have had the unit since late-July of last year.

Unfortunately, I can't say that I have heard of this happening before. My 10.1 isn't experiencing that, and neither are any of the 10.1's owned by friends and family. At the same time, our tablets are the earlier versions (purchased at launch) that are lacking the Samsung branding under the glass above the charging port. I have a question for you though, has your device been in to Samsung for service? If not, have you contacted Samsung about this? This is definitely something that is covered under the Manufacturer's warranty.
Just received the return shipping label. They asked what I'd want if it couldn't be fixed? I said a 32 instead of a 16 if it had to be replaced. LOL I doubt they show me that kind of love.

ha! Good luck with that....
I know its just a dream
So they said my screen is warped/ bent, on top of that they say the chassis is now cracked, when my pics clearly show that is not the case. I call bull****, what are my options?

keep complaining... that's the ONLY way with this bozos....you'll eventually get to a "manager" who will take you to another "manager", then they will either replace it or fix it.....i did that for 18 times with my hp laptop...what a piece of junk.
Just pissed never so much trouble with them. I have several TVs from them and a phone never no problems.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Are they saying since it's "cracked" it's not covered under warranty? Just wondering cause that's definitely bullsh!t.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using one stinky finger.
I'm telling you...get high enough where they give you an email address...email them the photo...they have to fix it...if not...complain...go higher and higher till you get what you want.
So they sent it back despite the pics and everything, wanted me to pay 199.99? Totally dissatisfied with this. I own several nice pieces of Sammy equipment and never any issues....
Hmm, look at that, I kind of see a sliiiight little bump on mine too. I can press on it and see that it does deform a tad. Now you got me all paranoid. Its definitely no where near as bad as yours though.
I really hate to revive such an old thread but the bezel near my charging port has cracked exactly as described as well. Has this happened to anyone else and has anyone gotten a resolution. It seems this is definitely a manufacturers defect

What's the story?
Sent From My HTC Evo Using Tapatalk Pro!
a pictures worth a thousand words .
phone fell off seat in movie theater, like 2 feet from ground..
was it naked?
I cried a little inside when I saw this picture..
without a case ? ya
sorry.
I hate how badly HTC tempers some of their phones [screen that is]
I remember when I got my first TP2, broke screen on first drop... I had a replacement,... That I still have... I treat it like trash! And lemme tell you this thing is sturdy. My Evo... Has been abused, dropped, fell straight on the curb of the sidewalk (right onto the raised part and onto the floor). Only visible thing is a tiny dot of glass that chipped off the lower bottom right.. This one is sturdy as hell too...
this was my first time dropping the phone, I only had it for about two weeks.
The screen is like scratch proof but not shatter proof, it should be the other way around at least (hopefully both). I tried using my keys to scratch out a hole in the glass so i could take it out and see if i could get a replacement glass but the keys wouldnt even scratch as hard as i tried
i died a little inside when i saw that picture. if that happened to my phone...i would probably cry
Dang that really sux. I was so scared when I dropped my Evo at work from a height of 30 ft and lucky for me I just had sum dirt in the kick stand but that was the day I added insurance on my bill. I'm sure if u have insurance they will give u a new screen as there was a time with my instinct I broke the screen 3 times in a month and Sprint fixed it no questions asked

@ the PIC why put a 500$ phone on a sent and EVEN take the chance of it falling ?
That sucks man . Well if you don't have insurance, they sell replacement touch screen digitizers on eBay. Not sure how easy it is to replace.
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Sprint-Evo-...862017?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4152abc101
I have no affiliation to that seller, just looked up the cheapest one that wasn't out of the country.
Looks like some guys just put up a repair video too and it doesn't look too difficult, but I'd be scared to do it myself lol.
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-evo-4g-glass-touch-screen-digtizer-lcd-repair-guide.html
Most sprint repair stores are stocking glass/screen replacements. Just go down there and get it fixed, generally they can do them in 15-20 minutes
actually im within the first 30 days, so im taking the phone back to a store and swapping it for a brand new one. which seems like a great deal to me.
if you are rooted you will probably have to unroot... but you already knew that
I just flashed back to the stock rom i found in the evo wiki, that should be good correct ?

Good luck man. 30 days or not they're probably not gonna just swap an obviously damaged phone out for a new one. Not saying it wont happen, just.. good luck!

You should be good with that. In my experience I've had no trouble taking rooted devices in to them. I always make sure at the very least it appears stock when they power it up.
I called them and they are the ones that suggested i just return it and get a new one since it's within thirty days. I called the store too, not sprint (sometimes they like to contradict each other).
Found this website that sells spare parts incase you damaged your epic. I myself was looking for a replacement for the rim around the screen as it fell out from my hoodie pocket into the street and the rim was dented. Phone works ok but the dent is an eye sore...lol. anyways here's the link : http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Samsung-Epic-4G-Replacement-Repair-Parts-s/6425.htm
Cool. Nice find. I always try to stick with OEM much as I can.
Great find
Supposing I keep this puppy as long as I kept my HTC Vogue, this will really come in handy. Thanks for passing this one along to everyone.
neato, must keep this one
No prob guys, hope it help anyone that has isues with hardware.
Im in soo need of this part:
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Sa...ic-4G-D700-Keyboard-Ribbon-p/smsng6085455.htm
They are completely out of stock and might not even get it ever as they said it is hard to get. Anyone know where I can get one? Please!
Ughhh why do they have a minimum order?
Also, question about the digitizer + LCD replacement. Do you only need to buy the digitizer + LCD combo or do you also need to buy the front housing too?

The one I ordered is seen here, http://cnn.cn/shop/samsung-epic-c-26_1118.html - I bought mine from cnn.cn about 3 months ago and it was $75, not this $120 crap, terrible.
it is the same part as your website (cnn.cn, when I ordered my screen from them, had a LOT MORE Epic4g parts). What I got in the mail was a NOT CRACKED and NOT BROKEN equivalent of my old one which is this:

The link in the OP has a loudspeaker for sale. A little note: if anyone believes they have a bad antenna, the loudspeaker contains part of it, replacing it has the potential to solve the issue.
Also, I'm a coporate Sprint tech. If anyone has any issues or needs advice or a helping hand with the guts of their epic, I'm always available.

Could someone tell me what their price on the LCD and digitizer is for the Epic? Don't have time to register atm =/
They are whole sellers so you may have to buy parts in bulk in order to get stuff from them, I see that even to create an account you need to get it "approved"
But great find man!

Thanks but it requires 5 quantity purchase minimum and I only need 1 external loudspeaker. There was one selling on EBay but no longer. I am in India and bought the phone online so cannot claim warranty repairs.
So i sent my Nexus 4 with broken back glass the day i got the replacement. Google Play support did not know much but in the email it says i would be charge up to full amount if it was a user error. What does this mean? How much will they charge me for replacing the glass? I am probably not getting that broken one back right?

This is from the Nexus 7 RMA email, I am assuming it is the same for Nexus 4:
UNDERSTAND YOUR WARRANTY COVERAGE
Additional charges up to the full price of your device will be incurred if our service center determines that the damage to your original device isn’t covered under warranty. Prior to ordering your replacement and sending your device for inspection, please refer to the warranty card..

Sounds pretty clear. If the damage is not covered by warranty, you'll be charged up to the full price. I'm curious how much it's going to cost to replace the back of the phone.

You said they've sent you a replacement already, so I'm not sure you have a choice in the matter any longer - it's going to be fixed and if it's not covered by warranty, you'll be charged.

That would be interesting. From my experience, once you send the device off you'll not hear back from them again, but I've never returned a device I expected would result in an additional charge. I'd be interested to know what Google has to say about it...
edit: the $300 on hold is so they can charge you in the event you don't return the original device.

I believe they want the purchase order number off that email. Only the original purchaser can RMA the device but as long as you have that original email anyone should be able to return it for an RMA. Without it you are screwed and can only do a warranty repair through LG.
Their gonna do the replacement with the IMEI number my only concern is a small dent in the corner. Im worried they might charge me for my replacement cause of it. Its quite a small ding, what do you guys think?

No, thats not worth a RMA. They probably wont even take it, thats the users fault, whereas RMA is mainly only for manufacture defects.
If people keep RMA'ing for small scratches and dents like this Google is bound to change their RMA policy soon :\ since at the moment, their not too strict.
Unless I completely misunderstood that, and you're worried they'll fix that along with the fault and then charge you?
Whats RMA? Their sending me a warranty replacement and im sending this defected phone back. Im having issues connecting to my network, thats the defect. But if the screen is cracked or such they charge for the replacement. Im wondering if theyll charge me cause of this small dent

RMA is warrenty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_merchandise_authorization
they might.. just send you the same phone back after repair anyway, that is; if its repairable anyway. If it's not then they'll send you a refurbished model, or in some cases a new phone.
So no, they won't charge you anything for the dent, as its RMA.
They are sending me a new/refurbished first, then i am sending mine in. Its a replacement, they arent fixing mine
They sent me a link to a page where I "buy" a new nexus. I went through the purchasing process but it just puts a hold on my card and not an actual charge.
Sent from my Nexus 4
Seeing that dent that looks like its a drop dent. I would be pretty worried that they will charge you stating they dont do RMA for physical damage or user error which they can in all fairness claim with that sizable dent.
I think it almost depends who inspects the phone

I spoke to Google and they said that if the screen isnt cracked or anything major than i wouldnt be charged

Hello Ben,

Well, mine too.
Luckilly no cracks so far, but I'm curious if any appear.
On one side, I want to return it, and get a refund, OTOH the phone is everyhing I ever wanted, until a better one comes out.

Exactly my dilemma. I've seen enough reports of cracks to be convinced Sony cheaped out or did something wrong with this phone. But mine hasn't cracked yet and I actually like it a lot (other than terrible low light camera). I'm hesitant to reward companies when they skimp on something and then fail to acknowledge the problems they've created though which is why I'm considering a return even though I like it.
If reports start coming in of Sony fixing the cracks for free under warranty, then I'll be satisfied and keep it, I think.
