Anyone in the US had a warranty claim with Expansys-USA? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hello! Has anyone in the US had to do a warranty claim with anyone they've purchased an International Note from, or specifically Expansys-USA? I'm thinking about ordering one from them but am having a difficult time getting them to respond to questions about warranty coverage.

Couple of guys said there is a two-year warranty with it. Can't find it through their website.
See this about the warranty from other buyers.

Awesome! Thanks so much! I've been waffling back and forth with the International vs. AT&T versions, back and forth for weeks. I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any future issues with apps from the Market not behaving because of where I am, etc. I'm mostly going to be using it for music, digital sketching, maybe some movies. I'm hoping Sketchbook Pro gets going soon with it.

there's no warranty with any international note from any online retailers.
No matter which site you choose, you have to send it to Samsung out of the country. Expanysys does not offer warranty but helps a little if you need to send it on

Now I'm waffling again. *Laughs* I'm also reading up on LTE, trying to figure out if it's worth it or not. (I'm in Seattle.) I've got a 75$ amazon credit that I can use from Expansys (Through Amazon payments), plus I believe there's a 20 dollar off coupon, so that's nearly 100 bucks off. I don't know what price the AT&T out-of-contract Note will be, but...

Where should I buy from?

I live in the U.S, I'm looking for the best price, and I'm hoping for an included manufacturer/seller warranty of some sort that stays valid even though I'm in the U.S. I also want to know about restocking fees.
But even if you don't have all that information, I want I hear about your U.S. buying experience, and where you bought from.
I searched high and low for mine but found the best deal surprisingly on amazon.com. It is a pity you just asked cause about a week ago they were going for $637 (without warranty gurantee) on amazon, though the now $645 isn't too bad compared to ebay prices which never seemed to go before $660 at the end of bidding. As for the warranty bit I believe those are going for about $680 ish when last I checked but don't know if the insurance is through the seller and/or samsung.
I too am in the U.S so I understand your concern but as long as the device is brand new Samsung will likely honour the warranty even if out of market area as has been my experience with the Samsung Omnia HD in the past-well at least they offered to service it but it got stolen on route to their U.K service centre.
Anazon seems to be selling a version and claimed US warrenty in the title, but there are some discussion in the review on it.

NewEgg is another source as well. They have a 30 day exchange policy - there might be an additional warranty option too. I definitely recommend getting some kind of protection on this phone,

Any way for a person in U.S. to get Samsung warranty service on international Note 2?

Is there any chance a person in the U.S. can get warranty service from Samsung even if its the international version?
I want to get the international version instead of the att version but I'm worried about if something goes wrong I'd be screwed
p.s. searched for "warranty" but no results.

I highly doubt it, in case of a repair or exchange you would have to sent it in to the seller you bought the phone from for warranty, or have it fixed in the US and pay for it yourself..
You're on your own, unfortunately. Samsung will not help you. That's part of the risk with international models in the US. FWIW, I've never ever had an issue that required warranty service, on any phone (and I've owned like 20).
FWIW Handset insurance thru AT&T covers any phone as long as you use their carrier. The deductible for the Note 2 is $199.

Guys just read the Samsung warranty terms. As long as it was purchased and used in your own country, it doesn't matter where it was made our where your vendor ordered it from.
"This limited warranty begins on the original date of purchase, and is valid only on products purchased and used in the Canada, and does not include transportation, installation, removal or reinstallation. To receive warranty service, the purchaser must contact Samsung for problem determination and service procedures. Warranty service can only be performed by a Samsung authorized service center. The original dated bill of sale must be presented upon request as proof of purchase to Samsung or Samsung's authorized service center. Transportation to and from the service center is the responsibility of the purchaser."
In fact, I use to work for an electronics distributor, and often if manufactures were short (I.e. Epson) , they would send us English only models (rather than English/French) or English/Spanish (u.s product) to fill orders.
If it was made by them, then they have a legal obligation to repair it.

So that means if purchased in the U.S. and used in the U.S., newegg specifically, then Samsung should cover it?

If you live in the U.S. and buy an International version, you have to register it under the Samsung retail country it was intended for; i.e. if it was bought in the U.K., you would go to Samsung.co/uk Once it is officially registered with them, you then have to send it overseas to have it fixed. I had to do that with my Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I called AT&T and T-Mobile here in the U.S. first since I was using their sim cards, but they said that they didn't have the necessary software to fix an International version and I would have to send it to Samsung Service Centre. They third party it out to another company and they "lost" it for about 2 months. I finally got it back about 2 1/2 months later. Several phones calls and emails to them and UPS and about $250.00 in shipping(I sent it expedited) and then the charge of about $100.00 to fix a then "bricked" phone, I got it back!
I think if you buy from some places, they do offer warranties through a third party, so it might be better to go that route.
It seems that the only viable option to cover the International version is through third party coverage.
newegg.com is offering a one year coverage for $59.99 from a vendor called servicenet.com.
Does anyone know of any competing services, for either better price or coverage?

I bought that warranty, on sale at the time for $46. I was wondering how good they actually are at servicing the phone? Nice thing compared to Squaretrade is there is NO deductible!

Nobody is successfully suing anybody. International phones were never intended to be sold in the US. End of story. If you live on Mars and get an international unlocked phone from Newegg, you can't just go and sue Samsung because they originally produced the product for, say Brazil when you are a mars resident. They will say "you need to be a Brazilian resident for warranty coverage since this device was produced for and intended for Brazil." and that will be the end of it. You are not a resident of Brazil so end of warranty claim attempt.
You will sit on mars with a broken phone and no help. Had you purchased a phone intended for Mars, you would then have a 12 month warranty. You did not do that therefore you have zero warranty.
End of legal proceedings.
But by all means, everyone should go sue everyone. Git em boys!!

Not sure what your point is.
Samsung CLEARLY states that as long as the phone was purchased and used in the country where is warranty is being claimed, then they'll fix it.
Your mars example is stupid, since Samsung doesn't have an office on Mars

really depends on the situation. but don't expect anything.
-call them describe your situation, maybe tell them you are relocated oversea after you bought a phone
-file an complaint
Samsung sell different phone in different country. you have an att phone broke and you want it be repaired in Uk, not a chance.
I don't know about other import retailers, but if you purchase an imported Samsung device from Negri Electronics, Samsung will honor the warranty regardless of where you live. The only stipulation is that you include your proof of purchase from Negri Electronics when you submit your claim. Alternatively, you can send your device into Negri and they will forward it to Samsung for warranty service. Just an F.Y.I.

I have a hobby is cell phone/mania (I changing phones every 3-4 weeks)
Long time ago I bough Galaxy Note (exynos). Then that phone appeared in US but it was different- Snapdragon. I did hardbrick (I was one of the first before the mass epidemic).
I call to samsung US they sad your phone from Europe we got different here. (call to europe)
So I called there, they sad you located in US, we can't help you.
(after hard brick my motherboard was ****ed, no one fixed).
But here is different. We got same SPECS !!!!
Chance is 50/50
Best bet is third-party coverage.
On my GN1, I went with Securranty.
This time around I went with Negricare.
2-year plan on either is about $95. Both cover lost/stolen in addition to accidental damage and defect/malfunction. Deductible is $75 on Negricare.
The reason I switched companies is that I could not get ANYONE at Securranty to return a simple email inquiry. That doesn't bode well for if/when there is a problem and I need prompt resolution.

Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 International - Has No Warranty In The US!!!

This item doesn't have any kind of warranty. I bought it just 4 months ago and it just died for no apparent reason. I contacted the seller an said it didn't have warranty, I filed a claim with Amazon just to receive that it has been over 30 days of purchase so it doesn't apply. I contacted Samsung USA, Samsung UK and Samsung Mexico just to be said that the item was bought in the US so it isn't covered by UK or Mexico and Samsung US said that as it was an international version not sold in the US it wasn't supported either! I just lost my $700 usd I spent in this item!!!! DO NOT BUY!!! Samsung Galaxy S3 has been having lots of hardware problems, to fix mine will cost $500 usd to replace the motherboard not worth it!!! WARNING!!!
Anyone knows where I can buy the motherboard and how to change it myself?

Wait so you're in the US and bought the International version, and you're now mad about getting no warranty?
You should check with the seller on how to claim warranty before you buy any electronic product.
in this case, think you have no choice but bring it to any samsung service center nearby and pay for repair...
I think the only thing left for you now is to check if it's really dead or it's another issue before paying to repair ... I would replace the battery first maybe....

Stop calling him idiot! That is what you are thinking he somehow has black market phone. That is not the case. He is only misinformed. None of us in North America can claim warranty in here for I9300 model. The only way to claim it is to ship it in Europe and have someone else claim warranty in Europe for us. That is what he can and should have done, now it is possible the phone is blacklisted if the north American samsung shares data with the rest of the world.
It does not matter if the phone is sold by amazon or local shop or whatever. This model is always gonna be considered grey market phone in North America, meaning its legal to sell but it's frowned upon here and of course warranty can not be claimed here.
There is also a simple fact, that samsung here just does not have parts for this phone since its never officially released here.
Then you have to consider shopping item to Europe and back and having someone you trust claim the warranty. Most often it is cheaper to buy the parts, import them and fix yourself or in local shop you trust.
Enjoying JKay Deluxe on GT-I9300
Title is misleading and untrue.
I still have warranty on my international SGS3 that I purchased in Australia.
Even if I purchased it from the US it would still be covered due to consumer protection laws here in Australia and the fact that Samsung also distributes here.
Your title should read...
Imported goods to the US usually ain't covered by local warranty. In many other countries they would be covered by Samsung. It's just the US has no or very weak consumer protection laws. It ain't Samsung's fault, it's yours for not understanding your rights and local law...
Seriously, why would you guys call him an idiot, the chap has just lost 700 us, and he opened the thread to share his experience and try and fix his issues, so I cannot see how he is being an idiot. Can you guys the ones who are not idiots offer him constructive advice rather than this name calling please.

Personally, I'd like to thank the OP.
He confirmed my stipulation that the total amount of intelligence on planet Earth is constant, while the population grows very rapidly.
What the hell forced you to buy something, what is not covered by your LOCAL warranty?
It seems that you have privately imported goods which are not officially sold in US by local distributor, and now you are asking for repair under the warranty.
If Samsung does not selling it there, their service centers will not have:
a) parts;
b) trained personnel
c) equipment (?)
to do a repair of the specific model in US.
I can assume that you can buy Russian vodka from a person who just arrived from Russia to States, and then call Russian Embassy next day that you have the hangover?
Just think before you're buying.

I have the sane problem. Bought the phone thru Newegg and they left me in the cold. Look in your box and should give you contact as to where the phone came from. If not give thru Samsung international web site and go to the country that your phone has for country code. You can find out by using Samware web site comparing the firmware as to what country it was set for. I had problem with earphone jack and took 4 months of back and forth threw the mail and going threw importer in Miami

These aren't black market phones, but those of us who want international phones have to buy from third parties or purchase them abroad. Otherwise, you're stuck with a network-locked phone.
Since Samsung doesn't sell the i9300 in the US, you have to do a little research to find out the phone's country of origin. I bought mine from newegg and it came with a Brazilian CSC but I eventually confirmed with Samsung UK that it is covered by 2 year warranty...as long as I ship it to the UK for service, of course (they recommended using a British address for a friend or relative to register it). And you can always get a SquareTrade warranty in the US or something similar to provide you with ADH coverage. This is what my wife did for her SGS3 which was bought from a third party on Amazon, though it appears that it's too late for the OP.

Dead S4 :(

I bought an AT&T S4 32gb from ebay brand new a week ago. It was working well & it was never rooted or custom rom installed.
I slept & woke up & this phone wasnt responding to anything i do. No boot or power at all, checked battery it looks fine & voltage output is 4.21.
I didnt open the phone, though it never got water/liquid damage. Another thing strange is its not even heating up from any side.
Wrote this thread in hope, if anyone has had in this situation & made it work again.
Im truthful to every line i wrote. Need solutions.

I don't think it is unfair. You paid for a product that obviously was defective as it died randomly. If I buy a item from a store I expect to work, not die randomly to suck it up. Even though its a used item, you shouldn't deal with issues that perhaps the previous owner did not tell you.

It should still be covered and you can print your Paypal receipt as proof that it was brand new if the title of the auction says brand new. I think it should be covered. You will need to register it with Samsung for warranty service. Toucan do that on their website. You probably won't even have to mention where you bought it.

He is India and bought a device only covered for warranty within U.S.A terrority by law. They wouldn't be forced to service an out of country warranty. Same deal happened to my friend in europe with a U.S.A tmobile s4. He ended up shipping it to me so I could ship to them.
Then again its soley by Samsungs choice. He could try contacting their international department to see if they'll honor it for him.

They may service it for him. I'd play with it more. Its unusual for a phone to just die like that but something could have shorted out in it. I don't know how good the electricity in India is.

My S4 screen cracked, they never asked for a proof of purchase (but then again, they took my $200 to fix it). Maybe look into something like VIAddress, they provide a US address for you to tell companies to ship to and they'll forward it to a big number of countries for some fee.

I've never used VIAddress, but I've sold several thing on eBay to people who used almost identical addresses that went to this freight complex in an pharma/industrial part of our country, New Jersey. One person was Chinese and the other Russian. So I'm guessing they used this or another forwarding service... it must be good if they used it.
True, Samsung might ask you, but I think the warranty will stand by serial number and not owner. I've sold a Galaxy S3 to someone and AT&T at least, assured us that there would be no problems with the other guy making a claim.

Refurbished N3 - Major Carrier - Amazing

Hi I'm Capt Morpheous.
If a customer changes their mind about a factory fresh handset they have purchased in the Uk, the can return it for a refund within 14 days. These handsets get sent back to the carrier, who claims to 'check the handset thoroughly'. Since now it is no longer factory fresh, the handsets are sold on as 'refurbished handsets' with a 12 month warranty at half price - an amazing price. I have just purchased one of these refurbs.
Here lies my request for guidance & help:
As we all can guess, the 'testing' done by the carrier, is probably basic at best.
If you purchased a Note 3 refurb, what things should be checked to ensure that it is actually a good unit - e.g visual inspection, checking knox hasnt been tripped by initial owner, checking each port for stability in use, battery charging and charge retention etc.
I am a newbie to smartphones. This Note 3 N9005 is the first real smartphone I have ever owned.
I am directly asking members of the community to help me understand what aspects I should be checking/testing myself (I don't fully trust carriers own procedures).
I still get 14 days to ask for a replacement of a refurb unit too, if I discover there is anything wrong/unacceptable with it.
My genuine thanks to members that contribute and share any expertise and insight,
Thanks in advance,
Capt M.
The most important test is to boot into download mode and check the KNOX flag. If it's 0x0, it's fine.
If it's 0x1, the previous owner messed with the phone, and your warranty is void.
I wish they were as fair with refurbished devices here in the Netherlands. Over here they're sold for full price. And if you buy a new phone from your provider and it breaks within the first week, and you return it.. They give you a refurbished one, never a new one. And you don't even have a right to refuse.

Where did you buy the phone? What site? Or from the carrier?

The most important test is to boot into download mode and check the KNOX flag. If it's 0x0, it's fine.
If it's 0x1, the previous owner messed with the phone, and your warranty is void.
I wish they were as fair with refurbished devices here in the Netherlands. Over here they're sold for full price. ShadowLea,
Sounds like you guys get bit a a raw deal over there.
The new consumer laws, that allow for 14 days for the return of any item are european laws that came into effect in 2013.
Thank you for the info about booting and knox. I'm not sure how to do it, but this is the kind of info. that really helps me.
I welcome any expansion, contributions or comments from any and all.
Are there any other things that should be checked/verified on recieving a refurb unit?
My thanks,
CM

Hi ryant100,
The carrier is O2, and its done through taking out their refresh contract, which is a unique type of contract.
Its a two parter.
One part for the device, another for the airtime. Cancel the contract within 14 days, they let you choose if you want to return the device, or pay it off at the discounted rate.
They are quite happy with this, as are many customers in the UK!

Yea, we rather do... Those laws are a bit sneaky, because they don't have to be incorporated immediately. They're guidelines for new laws, so they won't be passed locally until the national law is up for review. Which is in 2020, I believe.
Download mode is fairly easy.
Pull out the battery and put it back in after a few seconds.
Press Home & Volume Down & Power until the Warning screen shows up. Release the buttons.
Press Volume Up to confirm and enter Download mode.
My genuine thanks ShadowLea,
I've done that, and Knox is as it should be 0x0.
Now I need help on thoroughly inspecting all other areas that should be checked.
I'm asking members for any advice, hints and tips they are willing to contribute on this.
Refurb N9005 - what checks should I be carrying out?
