Hello every genius !!
Can someone add 3D driver optimisations in their fabulous kernel / rom like cyanogen mod7?
In cyanogen mod we can notice a real boost performance in 3d applications. So why not include the cyanogen 3d driver in next rom or kernel ?
Thank you all !

Guys, look at that:
http://glbenchmark.com/subtest_results_of_device.jsp?D=Google+Nexus+S&id=405
There are 12 tests of Nexus S in GLBenchmark, and 11 of them are below 2400 points (more or less like our SGS), but the most recent one (uploaded at 2011.02.11) scored 3025 points, more than Tegra 2. This result's is made by someone from GLBenchmark, and shows at "GLBenchmark team tested" page of the results. How is that possible?

So, according to this benchmark, the performance of Nexus S'ses SGX540 increased dramatically somehow. And according to this article,
LG's software build also uses a newer version of Imagination Technologies' driver (1.6 instead of 1.5)

So, maybe, in the latest update (2.3.2, or whatever) Nexus S got this new 1.6 GPU driver with increased up to 30% performance?
Now this is getting interesting!
any more info about this ?
fake?
I think ots a fake or it was a special rom, i use darys rom with voodoo and have 2537
But wich driver the Cyanogen team use in their cyanogen mod7 ?
Their 3d driver score in quadrant pro is very impresive, nearly 30 to 40% more than stock froyo 2.2 rom.
I will try to ask the cyanogen team.

Well.. This really looks interesting.
Now this is interesting
Looking forward to this
Surprised someone with a little more knowledge hasn't commented on this yet. Hopefully we'll have an answer soon
In the meantime -> report here if the sources (I mean precompiled module, which will be inside the package) are online

What is your quadrant GPU score in CM? On JS5 2.2.1 i have 2d:293; 3d:879. Are CM scores really better?
SGX540 is much better GPU than the one used in Tegra 2.
So I guess these results are caused by the newer driver version (1.6) released by IT.
with mitra rom i have these score on quadran advanced:
overclocked to 1.3ghz (on set cpu min and max @1.3)
total score 3702
at stock 1ghz (on set cpu min and max @1ghz)
total score 2865
good score for me with this rom.
i thing that the driver are updated...
Hi all. I with my friends compared performance of arc to desire hd and nexus one in browsermark using opera mobile and android default browser. In default browser arc scored almost 2 times more, using opera it scored 30% more.
Why arc is so much faster? This 3 phones have almost identical hardware. Scores of dhd and nexus one are almost identical. Has sony done some magic to dalvik?
Different processor ?

No, both arc and DHD use msm8255. I guess Sony makes a better board design or uses better components.
In PC boards, we also have this case. Same chipset but different performance.

They all run on snapdragon cortex a9 processor, arc and dhd have the same processor, nexus uses 60nm chip instead of 45nm.
Maybe better optimized!
Do you know CM ? Current version is CM7.1.
I think the performance on CM7.1 is better than ARC official version

Thats what I think too, but 80% improvement in browser O_O just wow.
Btw, can anyone test it? http://browsermark.rightware.com/browsermark/index.action Just to be sure my friend is not lying He claims his arc gets 65k.
I just ran it and got 54475 but I think I can make it better, coz whatsapp notified me of a message and the phone becomes more responsive after restarting it when you have it run for long time...
Mine scores 61k+ with the .283 build. Tested it last October before updating to .42
Attached a screenshot.
Awesome
Always thought Arc and DHD would be quite the same and the Arc is just a better lookomg DHD.

is there a way how to speed up the gingerbread on 3d gaming like on froyo?
in froyo my NFS Shift is like 55 - 60 fps but in gingerbread its just around 30 - 40 fps..
same on Quadrant in 3d rendering the red and blue dna like rolling figure is 49 - 50 fps in FROYO but in gingerbread it wont pass 30 fps
any tweaks on how to boost 3d rendering speed?
First of all, wrong section
Froyo indeed had better hardware acceleration than gb, and the kernel was also a lot better, Samsung rushed gb and messed things, but does it really affect you, the human eye can see @ ~30fps max, so does it matter?
honestly im seeing the difference.. 30fps is like lagging/stuttering to my naked eye..
i dont know but maybe its because I'm used to a high FPS on my computer.. the lowest FPS i see on my PC game is 90 fps. that's why I can differenciate 30fps to 60fps

Some people can really tell the difference. Sadly, I'm one of them
But I started using the tab as more of a work device than gaming, so the newer features of Gingerbread far outweighed the gaming performance of Froyo for me.

LOL i'm also one of them, and this was one of the reasons HC needed froyo bootloader!
actually in terms of UI rendering and office apps specially on loading.. Gingerbread beats froyo over a mile ahead.. gingerbread is smoother only the 3d gaming is the problem.. but very well going to stick on gingerbread 2.3.6..
and btw.. Froyo also allows to underclock the CPU with higher value than gingerbread.. on froyo I can run 1.4ghz with -350mv stable but on gingerbread I cant get past -50mv stable on 1.4ghz..
any other tweak on how are the others getting a monstrous 3K score on quadrant?

GB is faster than froyo, it would more, but Samsung rushed out the update, and that ruined it partially.
UV is kernel issue, try with some other kernel first, and -350mv is insane!
3k in quadrant is nothing, its just a score, can be fooled, mostly its fooled in I/O part
-350mv running stable on 1.4ghz is true..
have you tried a FROYO with any kuxodaxi's kernel?
i suggest you try it and see for yourself
yeah Gingerbread is faster in froyo but not on samsung..
on tab froyo beats gingerbread in terms of 3d gaming
by the way what is the best I/O scheduler for you?

Honestly, no
I got my tab from my dad sometime back, and i had already updated to gb via *cough* kies *cough*, so didnt get a chance to try it out more.
i hope someone can port the UI speed of Gingerbread to the Froyo XD

Hi! i made a benchmark on the hd2 both with android froyo and ics hwa and i noticed that the rom with the higest point is the froyo one! i got 1100 for the ics and ~1400 for the froyo one, wich beated also the nexus s.
this is really strange because the gaming performances of froyo are terrible (i had ~2-3 fps with gta3), and it's also slow with the sense 2 homescreen management.
is this normal? thanks

Were both ROMs nand or SD? Cause the difference could be in the io speeds. You should post screen shots of both results
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
Yes it's normal because the phone devotes more resources to hwa, which is what makes your games fast. Phones get relatively lower quadrant score on ics. So it's not accurate to compare it if you changed os version. If you want, you can easily boost the score by ~1000 by installing data2sd, but you need a good SD card to feel the difference yourself.

Really?! Just goes to show, benchmarks aren't a valid way of proving speed. Perhaps it is as hengsheng120 said due to the HWA or something. Either way, ICS is definitely faster than Froyo.
yes as said, for me too ics is faster thank froyo, i just wasn't sure of the reason of this gap.
i don't think that it wold make any difference installing data2sd because of my old sd.
i agree with who thinks that hwa is making this difference, and that is an invalid information to compare OS's. ics is certainly faster with scrolling (the web browsing it's awesome) and 3d.
thank you all and sorry for my english XD

Actually, your English is pretty good. Yeah, even if I could get a score of 10000 on Froyo I'd never consider ditching ICS for it
yes while using them you can clearly see that ics beats froyo all the way XD
Hey hackers,
I need to pick a rom for my TF101. My tablet has been running a little slow and a little choppy, so I'm thinking it's the rom. I'm currently running cm10. I'm thinking Revolver or Revolution would be the best for performance and speed - would one of these be a good choice?

Well ive flashed them all lol and CM10 is by a long way the fastest (equal with JB AOSP but more stable) both Revolver and Revolution are about the same as far performance goes, I prefer Revolver for ICS roms but is still much less performance the cm10. Ive found CM10 to be a little choppy with the stock launcher, Apex is much better might be worth trying that before flashing another rom.
Thanks for the tip about the launcher and other roms. Tried apex - it was awful, actually I'll let you know what happens with some other roms.
Revolver ICS runs great but CM10 is improving everyday.

Which CM10 rom are you running? There's a few out now and not all run the same. If it's the RaymanFX CM10 then I'd be suprised you're having performance issues.
Speaking of which, did you overclock at all? A little boost to the CPU speed can make a world of difference. Depending on your tablet, however, you may experience some crashing if you push it too hard. 1.2 to 1.4 GHz seems to be the sweet spot for most people.
AnTuTu CPU Master (Free) is what I use. I've set it to 1600Mhz with smartassV2 scaling and the sio I/O scheduler. My tablet reacts to overclocking very well though so your mileage may vary.
