I have spent five hours going thru the threads and turn up with answers requiring root as for phone was never root.
Phone: myTouch 4G
Carrier: T-Mobile
Warranty: Out of Warranty
Long Story not so Short...
Froyo, Friend OTA updates it to GB, (i'm sure he never created a backup)
OTA updates installs, then hangs and phone stops working.
Friend had friend# 2 in japan remote control Friend# 1 and download GB to manually update through HBOOT with PD15IMG (I have no idea exactly which rom is it)
Friend#2 did something, but friend#1 went away so didn't watch everything. (yes wtf)
now phone just loops into Hboot, takes a bit of time before vol controls work.
Cannot i guess autoload a signed tmobile froyo rom as it end up saying "MAIN version is older!" (probably fail here as phone is not rooted)
Recovery Didn't work, ends up being Red Triangle
Factory Reset did not work
I know for sure this phone is not ROOTed.

Phone is Detectable on fastboot.
is there a way to use fastboot?
is there another way to access or turn on "USB DEBUGGING" without mentioning going in to settings etc.etc.etc... because phone will not load/start where i can access it.
any input/wisdom/opinion/criticisms/face-palming comments is helpful..

I'm not sure, but if it stucked after GB update & if you can get into bootloader, you can try downgrading to froyo,no.Then you can do what you want. But wait untill a dev reply to your post.
P.S.
I forgot. To work with adb you need to on usb debugging,no.You cannot on it now,no.Sorry bro.Wait until dev reply.I never got a problem when updating to GB(now I downgrade & root).

I tried to unroot my phone, I'm selling it. The only thing that I tried to use the method of using Unrevoked-S-ON. After I flashed that it would react the same. I tried using the RUU I have it starts but it say Can't get passed your bootloader. Is there any way that you could update it. Any Ideas anyone? Thanks I appreciate it.

You need to find the correct pc36img.zip (from the 3.70 update) and put it on the root of your sd card (take it out of the phone and use an adapter, a card reader or another phone then connect to pc). restart your phone. when it gets to bootloader, it'll ask you if you want to parse pc36img. hit yes, after it's done your problem is fixed and your phone will be unrooted.
Is my phone fried? When I turn it on it's stuck at the MT4G splash screen. I boot into the bootloader with PD15IMG.zip in the root and attempt to update, but it just stops at updating the bootloader. It just stays on the updating screen saying it's updating the bootloader. Tried both stock gingerbread zip files with the same problem.
When I select Recovery, it shows the MT4G screen, then the green arrows and picture of the phone, then it shuts the screen off and vibrates 7 times. I have to remove the battery to reboot.
If I select Factory Reset, the phone just freezes in the bootloader.
Here's my bootloader copy:

I'm posting this because I didn't see anyone with the exact same issue and I didn't want to give up on it just yet. Any ideas or suggestions?
7 vibrations mean HW failure. Your phone is screwed.

it get the same thing, with the same device... but no vibration....
I have received an MT4G with the same issue, actually this is the second one I receive with the same issue. (FYI: I work at a cellular phone repair store). I have searched far and wide... but now one with a concrete answer as to what to do with this situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
So after hours of my life searching the web trying to fix my phone I had to stop and start a thread. Please help me if you can.
I have HTC G2 which is stuck on bootloop, I wanted to do a factory reset on it but that seems to be asking too much..

I can't get any PCIMG.zip working to the bootloader. It checks it, but will do nothing. (Yes I have correct radio version. But if you doubt me, please provide another one - I would be greatly thankful)
If I get into Recovery I'm able to get CMW with v3.0.2.4 but none of the option really work. I can select it but it will get stuck on the CMW logo (which I can escape by pressing power button which brings me back to CMW menu)
Last time I used this phone was months ago, but I can't get it started since I changed the LCD (old LCD bleeding color)
how did you root? you have s-on but cwm-recovery? did you use the htc unlock?
Did you have the "fake" S-OFF before through running the eng hboot and have now flashed a stock ROM (and therefore a stock hboot, losing your S-OFF) ?

Hi guys,
i have read so many threads on the emmc chip issue after buying a ny touch 4g from ebay. mine is no different in the problems but i cant seem to get the phone to flash.
i have downloaded the recommended PD15IMG.zip files on the sdcard but my problem is in trying to update using the file the phone sticks on updating the Bootloader.
so i was wondering is there a way to egit the zip file by removing the bootloader image so that when updating the process can just bypass the bootloader stage inorder to get the phone going again?
currently the phone sticks on the my touch 4g logo and yes i can get into hboot but no i cannot do a factory reset cause its sticks and no i cannot get into recovery cause it vibrates 7 times.
also i wanted to know if its possible to use either fastboot.exe or adb.exe to flash the image onto the phone? because in the past you could have used a RUU.exe file to flash a phone in bootloader mode is that still possible with this phone?
can someone assist me with getting the phone to work don't care about rooting right now oh also this is the info on screen:

Read this thread first.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538859It is same to you problem(Bootloop,S-On).After reading fully, follow their instructions given below. If you still have the warranty, simply exchange this.
So I have spent several hours looking through all the threads related to this problem and have had no success with any guide/instructions.
My phone gets stuck on the splash screen. I can get into HBOOT and if I select "Factory Reset" or "Recovery" in BOOTLOADER the phone will just freeze up and not do anything. If I do a "Reset" or "Reset Bootloader" in FASTBOOT it still freezes up.
I tried the PD15IMG.zip and it works well until it asks to update. When I press yes, it shows "-Updating" next to [1] BOOTLOADER and then freezes up (I have left it for 45min and it hasn't changed).
I looked at the IMAGE CRC and the codes in the PD15IMG.zip don't match the ones on the phone (I don't know if that's relevant but just letting you know)

Pretty much no matter what I try and do in HBOOT the phone freezes up. Please help this is driving me insane!
EDIT: The PD15IMG.zip file is the 2.2.1
Apparently it has worked for a lot of people without any problems...that's why I don't understand why it's freezing up while
"updating"
You should have found multiple mentions of the following:
If this file gets stuck updating, just as if it's showing "Fail-PU" - your eMMC is dead.
And you probably found them, but didn't want to believe your eyes. But you'll have to. Your phone is a brick.
