Coredroid Rom - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I need help I installed a bunch of ROMs in my hd2 coredroid some of the first several months too but whenever I try the phone hangs on the screen d load the ROM and so remains.
The last time I followed the instructions:
1. Create empty folder on desktop. And drag and drop files from SDCARD TO ALL NEW FOLDER.
2. Delete ALL partitions on SD Card.
3. Task 29
4. install MagLDR
5. install Recovery
6. Recreate Partition with 4EXT. Again go to Tigers Tut. His explanation is the best for Letting 4EXT SDCard partition.
7. Flash and Enjoy
But nothing still the same, only missing two post me to ask in the forum itself coredroid.
I would appreciate help.

I have written a guide in this if you're interested.

Thanks for the reply, but I think I followed all the steps correctly and at the end when you load the rom, I have to remove the battery because it is hung on the loading screen "Get you connect Coredroid"

Anyone with any alternative solution?

Sounds like you used the wrong partition sizes.
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium

If it just hangs i would say wrong partition size as well. i actually posted on there,
cause it did the same for me using the 180 mb partition size on a tmous model, but it failed to boot. but when i switched it to 370, it booted fine.
and if its on 180, u maybe have bad blocks, and require a bigger partition layout, so i would start with 200 and up and try again.
good luck.

Installin a larger ROM help plz... :o/

Im kinda new to this but i have been reading & trying for a few days before asking for help but i feel i am stuck now.
I have gone through the process & installed a small rom with clockworkmod using a 150mb partition & it went ok.
Now i want to install a larger rom eg. pyramid_HTC_WWE_1.35.401.1_v1.5_EU.zip (338mb) using clockworkmod & this is where i have the problem, i have followed the steps but when installing the rom it freezes just under halfway install.
Using bootloader I have now used Task29 for a clean install, then installed MAGLDR113, using MAGLDR i used option 5 (USB flasher) & installed the unzipped () to make a partition for the larger rom.
After reboot i went to magldr option 8.AD Recovery & loaded clockworkmod, advanced then partition SD card, chose EXT size=1024, swap size=0M then rebooty.
Now am i supposed to see 4 partitionson my SD card because i cant?
one page i read that i should now transfer my ROM.zip to my Sd card, & i also read on another page that i should go to "mounts & storage" & chose "format sd-ext" I have tried both ways!
With the rom.zip on my card, i chose the "install zip from sdcard" option etc, it installs to just under half way then just stays there for ages, how long should this take for a 338mb zip file?
So i giveup, battery out & try it with a smaller zip (hyperdroid-cm7) 69mb zip & it installs ok, so where am i goin wrong??
Q1, after partitioning the SD card am i supposed to see 4 partitions on the card? because i dont, maybe i should partition it on my pc, do i just divide it into 4 partitions & name then ext, ext1, ext2, ext3? or is there a guide for doin it on ur pc?
Q2.can anyone see where else i might be going wrong?
I feel i am just doin the same thing over & over so thanks for any help you can give.
Something strange i have noticed that if i use the HD2 toolkit to try & create a 400mb partition i get an error sayin something about not enough space, i have to use a seperate Recovery_400M.zip that i downloaded from the NFEUMAN pages?
first of all your sd card patition is right. you must have 2 partitions, fat 32 and sd-ext. now in hd2 nand tool kit choose mgldr partition size as 'custom' then cache size 5MB then click repartition in usb flasher mode then write 190 in the opening window not 400. that's all.
I have managed to get the rom to bootup now after waiting for ages, but when booted it says the memory is low so im guessing its not using the SD card, when i look at the SD card i do not see any partitions so the partitioning tool in clockworkmod hasnt worked, is there a better way to partition the SD card for use with the rom?
you can see the partition in your sd by root explorer apk. or you can dowload to your pc mini tool partition magic an you can manage your partitions. windows doesn't see it.
Theres no mention when partitioning your SD card that you wont be able to see the partitions, i think they should mention that in the tutorials.
I downloaded gparted to partition my SD card & when i loaded it i could see that it had in fact worked when i had done it before.
I installed Apps2SD+ to see if it would sort out the low memory problem but the phone wouldnt boot, i waited 20 mins but it just stayed at the strtup screen.
I am doin it over again now with the partition size you suggested so hopefully this will work, should this allow more space for apps with this partition size?
i used the rom you try to use a few days ago. you dont have to install apps2sd etc. the rom just do that. so wipe everything and flash the rom, you will not face any room problem. to free some ram,you can use built in task manager or a task killer.
Hey mutil i have reinstalled the rom & it seems to be working great, but how do i use apps2SD? when i install new apps will they automaticly be installed to the SD card now, or do i have to chose the options somehow? thx.
yes they will go directly to sd-ext. if some applications like angry birds give force close error then get titanium backup from market, find the app that gives errorin titanium, long press on the app then choose 'move to sd'.
mutil thx for that advise. i just wanna ask you, before you installed the rom, what size clockwork mod recovery partition did you use? I used 190 as suggested above, but now reading back through the thread i see you can use a 170mb partition. Is it would be worth me doing it again as a 170mb partition, would i get any benifit do you think?
It doesn't worth to make a new partition. There will not be a great difference. Good luck.

What are your partition sizes? Particularily sense roms require a large partition. If your partition isn't large enough for the system, it will not boot.
Edit: Sorry I just reread where you said you partition is correctly.
Make sure your downloading the correct rom ?? Sorry I'm not much help on this.
Yeah, i partitioned it right 1024 and 0 swap, Sense roms give me a status 0 error and non sense give me that no boot sources error on MAGLDR

Yea that's exactly what I meant if your system isn't partitioned correctly there will be boot problems every time. Search for "HD2 Toolkit" it makes it so much easier.
Task 29
Then install magldr or clk with the correct system partitions.*most important part*
Install clockwork mod
Flash your rom
Reboot and it should start fine.

I have two HD2s this one is running off NAND Hard Droid 2. I did all the steps I did with this one. Flashed Hspl3 choose spl 2.08 after that was done flashed magldr then installed CWM via SD and portitioned the SD? Not sure about system. Swap 0 as it said in instructions. Flashed zip and I get the errors. Could someone tell how to task 29. Isn't that a nand wipe?

I'm on my phone so I can't give you the specific link. If you go to the guide in my signature I have a link to hd2 toolkit. You need this program. It will solve your problems because your system partitions are not correct. Swap and things like that matters but its on your SD card. Your problem is with the internal partitions.
Download the program I promise its worth it. If you don't like it delete it but at least try it so you can boot and experience android on nand.
If you want to use clk my guide might help you with that to.

I don't know if I can ask my question in this topic, but I think partitioning is part of my issue. On my HD2, I installed Ice Cream Sandwich Beta7. Used Magdlr. At first it won't booit into android either, but that was because I used the recovery_1.3400MB. Later I used the 250MB.
But then I got problems with installing apps: Internal space was insufficient. So I read this topic:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20577589 See page 12.
So I followed these steps:
Backup your SD card data (and prefferably nandroid backup your rom) and use recovery to repartition your SD.
Go to recovery, advanced, Partition SD Card
Partitioning to 1024 works wel, but 2048 won't. I don't know why, cause it's a 2GB sd card. But after partitioning, Android isn't using the space on the sd-card.
I can manually copy apps to the SD card, but it still gives errors about insufficient internal memory......
2gb=2000mb that's a problem if only using a 2gb for partitioning over 2gigs xD

Actually 2GB = 2048 MB...
But still the question is; when I choose 1024, why doesn't android use this partition as extra storage?? So why am I getting errors of insufficient space?
Check your properties on the SD because they usually lie to you about how much storage it is. Its rarely plain out too gigs

Nand problem

Hi
During more than year of my "android on hd2 experience" I've had no problems at all. To be honest i became quite handy on this field.
recently I was using two roms daily HyperDroid-CM7 and testing NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich Beta.
on NexusHD2 rom i install Data2SDInstaller.
and my problem started when I wanted to go back to HyperDroid.
boot animation stuck, of course i tried clk / magdlr different partition sizes always task29...without any effects. Now I tried NexusHD2 ICS 4.0.3 CM9 V1.0 , finally went through boot animation, when i saw Setup Wizard the messages appear immediately: "Unfortunetly, the process ....... has stopped" and when I click OK appears next and the next message , such as contacts, Email, calendar, etc. i thing all of the possible .. later message: Setup Wizard not responding.
And it happens on magdlr/300/5
I've read already about bad NAND blocks, and in recovery.log I did not detect any of them
I tried to run MTTY but I have a problem with drivers win7x64: - /
Does anyone know what's wrong with my HD2 and how to solve it.
you remembered to wipe the sd-ext partition and .android folder (cwm - wipe data / factory reset) right?
there are folders on both sd-ext and on the fat32 partition that will screw with new installs.

Like he said, you need to wipe your sd card, ext and fat32. Both parts. This is majorly important since you used Apps 2SD!!
Another thing, I think your system size is way off. 200/5 for cLK if not 180/5 and for magldr probably like 200/44 but at least 10mb of cache..
I'm not too sure if this will help or not but this is my experience.
I have been on these forums for a while and using Hyperdroid for quite some time now as well. The reason why I do not have any posts on this account is because I switched over just today, my old account was imarte068.
When trying to update my Hyperdroid the other day through magdlr I encountered an issue. No matter the partition size or sd-card, it always managed to get stuck on boot. I got frustrated and attempted to re-flash countless times. After many attempts I gave up and just used an MIUI rom.
Several days later I devoted myself to solving the issue. After about an hour or so of trial and error I fixed it. I simply re-flashed the kernel after the installation of the rom. I am using magdlr therefore I do not know if the process will be the same for clk.
Hope I could be of help.
I thought it was a sdcard and i delete all partition and make it new.
I do always full wipe and dalvic...

Try re-flashing the kernel as I said in the post above.
Link to kernel here.
Hope I could be of help.
This may spur some argument, but in my experience task 29 is the key if you're having problems. many people say wipe with cwm the system boot davlik cache, etc but in my testing when I'm having a problem and need to solve it task 29 has been the answer almost everytime. Partition size is huge as well. Another thing if you were using apps2 SD on ics it was bugged. Without formatting your SD it is possible that it could bug your system.

Im using 220 with 5mb cache. ICS running smooth without any problems. And no need to fully wipe sdcard. Would be stupid to delete the whole card just for flashing a new rom hehe. Its enough to wipe the (dalvik) cache and sd-ext partition via CWM.
For data2sd use the 'how to' from post #207 and the flashable file from post #174 in tytungs ics cm9 v1 thread. I think it removes old app2sd or data2sd scripts. Worked without any formatting of my sdcard.. works like a charm.
Btw.. ever tried to fix permissions? First thing you should try if you get FC.
Just do (re)install the rom like the guy in post #207 described but with the file from #174 (40ad2sdx-a2Recovery.zip)
And im using my hd2 now for more then one year. NEVER used task29.

As I said people will disagree. I will say that in most cases you're right though, wiping the davlik cache is enough. I am just saying from my personal experience there are sometimes when it isn't (at least on my phone). I'm not trying to start an argument, I just want to help him.

big thanks mates for advice.
So far I haven't had time for it but for sure tomorrow or on the weekend, I will deal with this and I will let you know how it goes.
In brief I run ICS all fine, but HyperDroid not starting.
Here is how i try:
________
Ok I was using WP7 and whats I made:
SD card: I delete all partition, I make only one Fat32 than in CWM I made ext partition.
Task29 > Clk 200/5 > recovery > install HyperDroid-CM7-v5.7.0 > And here phone stuck before boot animation, only white android robo > then as flamgodian advice I install kernel thins. > Same without boot animation.
Second try
Task29>clk 220/5>recovery>wipe(all possible)>install HyperDroid-CM7-v5.7.0>same robo>fix permision> install kernel this> I saw robo for 10s and phone self reboot after reboot > stuck :/
I have not seen even the boot animation.
Task29>clk 220/5>recovery>wipe(all possible)>install NexusHD2-ICS-CM9>Kernel>
He goes
__
I make like redplate(Big Thanks) write with installation 40ad2sdx, and everything runs great.
I will stay with ICS but it is strange why my phone doesn't like HyperDroid Rom.
And from here I would like to thank you all for advice.

[Q] Newest ICS boot loop issues!

I flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860 on my HD2 with the correct partitions and MAGDLR update. Now I'm basically sitting in a boot loop in which it doesn't load.
I tried to follow the video in the forum. I successfully apply the ICS zip file but when I try to apply the MAGDLR file afterwards it says:
Installing: /sdcard/update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
I have tried renaming the zip files several different things, including "update," "update.zip," the original file name and all the like, but I still get the same message. Upon hard resetting and trying the whole process over again, it will occasionally display a different message about E://could not open blah blah. hahaha
Is there anyone that could provide some insight on this?
Try to raise partition size, maybe you have some bad NAND blocks.
Okay, I'm going to try that. I used 256M and 32M for my partitions using CWM. Let's see what happens when I use the next size up.
It didn't work with that size. I'm now trying 512M and 64M.
I didn't see anything mentioned in that post about renaming conventions or anything but could that have something to do with it? I know I'm supposed to delete .zip.
That didn't work either. That seems pretty big compared to the default partition size, should I keep trying larger partitions?

You are doing all wrong. Larger partitions will cause more boot loops because your /data partition will get smaller. Use 190MB for system and 5MB for cache and then see again.

Not sure what files you're referring to, and can't see any install video, so can't see what you did there. Not aware of an update that needs to be installed after installing magldr ice. Or what you mean by deleting .zip
If the problem is the initial install, what you should be doing is applying the cwm image (you seem well versed in doing that now), copying the downloaded ics zip as it is to the sdcard, booting into ad recovery (CWM) from magldr, selecting install zip from SD card (I've never seen any need for install update.zip in CWM), scrolling to the ics zip you copied over and selecting it.
If your issue was something else then apologies, but it would help to know what files your working with.
HyT
Toiletpalm ... your confused about partition... what you are doing is partitioning your SD card with the current recovery... that is not going to fix your ice cream boot loop problem... the issue is your current cwm recovery size partition is too small... that is why I upload a higher(400mb) cwm recovery partition to work with ics. And yes what you have to do is unzip the file in your computer and locate the daf file... after locating it put your phone in magldr and select USB flasher... wait for phone to sync with the micro USB cable that is connected to the computer... "USB....USB" once you see that run the daf file and follow prompt.... when done... make sure you have your ics rom in your SD card.... reboot phone into magldr... select ad recovery... do a full wipe... including formatting your system... now install from SD... locate your ics rom and install... then when done... boot your phone normally... first boot will be longer... after that every reboot is quick... email me if you are confuse with any steps... [Q] Desperatley need help ....

Hello everyone..
I have a real quick question..
1) Used HD2Toolkit4.2.0.1 and performed Wipe (task29)
2) With HD2Toolkit, installed HSPL (bootload shows SPL-2.0.8.HSPL)
3) With HD2Toolkit, installed MAGLDR (reboot and phone goes into MAGDLR)
Heres the problem
1) Go into bootloader and try to install Recovery_v1.3_150 but program does not recognize usb connection. (failed install)
2) Go into MAGDLR and go down to #5 USB Flasher and computer is not recognizing connection between phone and computer.
3) Went into bootloader (bootloader shows "usb" and Tried to install DFT android flasher for HTC LEO but install fails saying: "usb init failed".
4) On MAGDLR screen, i go down to #8 AD Recovery and screen says : No boot sources
What am i doing wrong and why isnt computer acknowledging usb connection with phone and installing progs i need to flash new rom. (using windows 7 ultimate)
I previously performed my first flash to this phone yesterday and everything went just fine. Someone with the know-how please tell me what i am doing wrong and what i should do to complete this properly.
(trying to install Coredroid ONE X)
Thank You
Ok i have figured out how to get clockwordmod recovery installed as well as DFT nanddroid.
but now i am having a problem getting coredroid v3.6 installed. when i use clockworkmod, i partition the sd card using 1024 and 0. then i mount usb, transfer over coredroid v3.6.zip into new temporary F.Drive. After, i install zip from sdcard then choose zip from sdcard. The program locates coredroid and ask to install rom and i execute command. the flash process begins. Once rom is finished loading it freezes up and i have to remove battery. Rom is lost at this point and it goes back into MAGDLR.
What is the problem at this point. ?
What partition size did you use and what is recommended for CoreDroid? Make sure this is correct, otherwise the ROM won't boot.

Don't use MAGLDR's USB Mass Storage, use an SD reader.
@ NIGELDG - Perhaps its the partitition size that could be the problem. But this is the partition i use from the Coredroid instructions.
Using ClockworkMod :
Goto Partition SD Card menu.Select maximum 1024m. (which is recommended from coredroid instructions),then it says to Select the 0m .
@ MARVLESZ - Its not Mass usb storage that im using:
Using ClockworkMOD :
I go to mount USB storage
A new drive is mounted to your PC.
Navigate to MyComputer and open the new drive (ex: F: E: G: etc…)
Go to the HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.12 folder
Copy the HD2_Core_DroidDesire_HD_V1.12.zip to the HD2 sd card root (the new mounted drive ex: F.
When finished copying , i unmount then:
“-install zip from sdcard”, and press call button (left).
“-choose zip from sdcard”, and press call button (left).
Select the CoreDroid_V*.*.zip, and let it install.
Problem is that it will sometimes install 46% of rom then freeze up.
Other times it will load the entire rom up, say its complete then freeze up and not let me continue with reboot.
(Even though the instructions say this is what you use to install coredroid HD2 with, when reading the instructions it says this is for coredroid desire)
Which instructions should i use or what step am i not doing correctly?

not that type of partition, thats the ext partition. He means the system partition size you chose when you installed CWM, , that determines which roms you can flash, the rom tells you in post 1 (or 2) teh size you need.

I know that clockworkmod recovery performs an sd card partition but according the coredroid DHD instructions it says to partition 1024 and then 0 (dont understand the reason for this partition) Each time i follow the coredroid instructions, the farthest i get is to installing the rom but once its reached 100% and says to continue for reboot, the phone freezes and i cannot reboot. when i take the battery out to reboot, it goes back to clockwork (or is it magdlr, but no coredroid rom is loaded.
If ANYONE that has flashed: HD2 CoreDroid GB 2.3.5 V3.7 & Froyo 1.8 , PLEASE find the time to give me the step-by-step on which partition size (what program to partition it-HD2toolkit i presume) and the necessary steps to install this correctly. ill send you a cyber case of ShockTop or Heineken.
The 1024 and 0 refer to creating the ext partition on the SD card through cwm,,, namely 1gb ext and 0 swap.
What you need is the partition size needed for the system partition. It will tell you in post 1 of that roms thread,, usually something like " 5/150/5" and in this case you use the toolkit,, choose 150 on the left, put 5 in the cache box below, then click repartition.

ok so with that being said:
1) Load Hdtoolkit
2) Perform task 29 wipe
3) With HDTK, partition 150 and cache 5 (if according to threads recommendation for particular rom)
4) (im assuming i wont have to reinstall HSPL 2.08 correct)
5) With HDTK install MAGDLR
6) Install clockworkmod rec. (not from HDTK)
7) load clockwork and partition EXT 1024 and 0
8) Load rom from zip
9) that should be it.?
Anything im missing or anything i should add? And what if i like my current rom better than the new rom i just installed. Anyway of preserving that? or just install it again?
Pretty much, but a few notes...
2) no need to task29 99 times in 100. Only if you are having real troubles. Its rarely needed, and just increases odds of getting bad blocks.
3) 5) and 6)
Performing the partition installs cwm at the same time, and no need to reinstall magldr (unless you lost it by doing task29)
if you did the steps you listed, step 3 couldn't work (because no magldr) and would be pointless anyway, because step 6 is exactly the same as step 3. "Partitioning" and "installing cwm) are the same thing.
4) correct, Hspl and the radio are two things you needn't worry about unless you flash a stock winmo rom.
problem partitioning
Ok... im going to give it a shot with installing this new rom.
Ran into a snag though... coredroid says the following:
boot 10
system 180
cache 10
Now ive just done a task29 with HDTOOLKIT.. (successful wipe).
Ive placed phone in bootloader
With HDtoolkit - MAGDLR Repartition set at 200 (since there is no 180) and Cache is set at 10. ( i dont see boot on tooklit)
Execute Repartition BUT DFT is stating: (USB init failed)
(bootloader on phone says USB)
Whats the problem or what am i not doing right or missing?.

ok samsamuel.
1) i tasked 29.. (sorry didnt catch your other post about overwiping the phone)
2) checked to make sure hspl is one the phone still (bootloader)
3) kept phone in bootloader mode (shows USB connection)
4) selected MAGDLR Repartition on HD2TK
5) Set System Partition at 200 (since 180 is not avavilable as stated on coredroid page one )
6) Set Cache at 10 (according to coredroid)
7) Executed Repartition.
8) DFT tries to parttition phone but says USB Init Failed.
Where is the problem here?
You can set 180 by choosing custom at end of sizes list.
Phone should be in magldr - USB flasher mode, not bootloader.
Ok ive done everything according to what has to be done... thanks a million guys..!!!! BUT!!!
1) installation completed.
2) Rom says to REBOOT NOW
3) Pressed green call button to confirm
4) Screen says: Thanks and enjoy your new firmware with FINISH button at bottom.
5) Try to execute FINISH button but seems as though screen is frozen.
Anyone who has installed this rom before, is this common? Should i wait?
Each time it does this, I remove the battery and it goes back to MAGDLR.
Help please!!
ok... ive got it...!!!! ive figured out that the coredroid ONE rom must not be compatible with the hd2.. but when i ran coredroid DHD v3.7 it installed automatically...
i really want to say thank you to all you guys that pitched in with helping an old geezer like me. i know your time is more important, but you were considerate enough to give a hand. it was truly appreciated!! Thanks again Samsamuel....
