Downgraded to 3.1 huh?
Verizon's OTA update to 3.2 is faster and more stable IMO, albeit with a couple of minor quirky interface revisions.

I am running the Cingular ROM 1.34.502 and I am wondering when the new ROM will be released? I expect them to write a OS that will greatly reduce the battery demand. I am averaging about 8 hours of battery life.
Is it coming soon? This is a really big demerit to an otherwise great product.
Yes, there's a new Cingular ROM in the works that will include PTT. I would assume that it will be released in Q1 because that's when they originally said the PTT service would be available on 3G phones.
i hope its soon cause this phone is too buggy at the moment! my wizard was so much more stable but there were loads of roms available why is it so slow for roms on this phone?
Call me naive, but why would I upgrade to the official 2.3 realise from one of the gingerbread based roms (CM7 / oxygen / MIUI)??
Are there performance gains to be had??
I'm struggling to understand the motivation to upgrade, please enlighten me.
Thanks.

You shouldn't yet. What i have heared, it has better camera, wifi and touchscreen. But i don't think it's worth it.
If you can't stand using the 2.2.x version then you could upgrade to the official or an unofficial 2.3.x. Since you are in this forum you probably want the latest and greatest
In my case I upgraded to the official (I didn't try to root it yet). In my opinion it works fine, no issues with wifi at work or at home. The camera is better as mentioned by other members (it could be a placebo), and it feels more responsive (could also be a placebo). Some minor issues have been fixed/improved. I'm not much of a gamer but I've read that 3D performance is also improved.
The bad things are that they replaced the default launcher/music/lockscreen etc with their own, you can use something from the market but I'd prefer the AOSP ones to be included in the ROM (I want the CRT lockscreen effect!!!), I also couldn't make the equalizer to work which is strange but maybe it's a beta thing...
Also there are no Greek letters on the contact list (the vertical alphabet) and the SMS app supports 70 chars in Greek and not 160 (using the same IME that supported 160 in Froyo). These could be Gingerbread issues and not Huawei specific though but if you use a non-latin alphabet...
I don't plan to downgrade (it can be done as I've read), I don't have random reboots, crashes or other annoyances but I didn't have any on Froyo either.
You should always want to upgrade (the motivation is better performance, more features and a better user experience). Apart from from the Huawei custom stuff you could read some of the many Froyo vs Gingerbread etc articles in order to understand what to expect from an upgrade and decide if you need it (to either a custom or the official beta ROM)
I hope I helped...
Right. Think I'll stick will miui and hope someone can make a rom with the improvements from the official release

Hello Guys
It has just arrived the Iconia I ordered, this my first non chinesse tablet. And Id like to juicy it the most. BUt I have doubts and I hop eyou can help me.
THe device says it has an update, currently is running Android 3.01. SHould I go to the stock update? Or would be preferable to go with a custom rom.
I've been reading that stock rom makes the table a little unstable and that the Lightspeed ROM is one of the best by now, but Im not sure what to pick or if there's other ROM stable, so I ask before doing something I might regret later.
I will use the tablet as a regular guy plus I want to stream videos from my PC.
Thank you for reading this.
I got mine around January. Then ICS wasn't an option, but I remember it being somewhat sluggish. After the ICS update I was happy at the speed increase but it still came in a distant second to just using my laptop. About a week ago I finally installed a custom ROM (reflexxx). Since then I've barely turned on my laptop and the responsiveness continues to impress me. I can't imagine jelly bean or a tegra 3 being much faster. Granted, I really only browse the web, email, and a few news apps. Upgrading to a custom ROM was the best thing to happen to my a500. I can't speak for the lightspeed ROM, but if its anything like reflexxx, you will be much happier with it them stock.
is this th eone youare talking?

Dear Anthony, something I dont understand of your post is:
if you actually did first the stock update to ICS and then to reflex. Am I right?

yes and yes. Mostly because that was just the natural order of things, but, and dont quote me on this, I think it will be easiest for you to do the same. Honeycomb has different bootloaders and things. Upgrading to stock ICS first, I believe, will make going to a ICS ROM slightly easier and remove a step or two.
Provided you read the directions, I really can't see how you'd be upset with a custom ROM. I used afterOTA to unlock my bootloader, then installed the ROM using the standard CWM method.
THank you so much for your help sir Anthony
One more thing: Did you used the Reflex or FLEXREAPER-RELIX_rev5 ANDROID 4.0.3 ?

I went with reflexxx, only because its based on 4.0.4, and I'm of the stupid consumer mindset that newer us always better.

Run stock ics absolute ota no root. See how good it is. Then when you change roms you can see what it screwed up.
I read around on the forums and I wanted to make sure before I upgrade to ICS that it will be a good decision. I read about some people having issues with Flash Player not working and streaming/watching 1080p videos lag horrendously on ICS. I'm currently on HC3.2.
What are some pros/cons of upgrading to ICS? Greatly appreciate any help

I've flash ics stock, it's stable and very speed rom, about 2x than hc3.2
I updated via OTA. I did a reset first as I feel that gives a nice, clean install, and I don't mind reinstalling apps, etc.
My tab is running like a rocket, with no problems.
A big improvement over HC 3.2.
I flashed the ITV rom on my Vodacom XFV tab and everything worked a treat, but one thing I noticed was if my signal went to 3G instead of H+, I would lose internet connection. Makes no sense, but there it is...
Makes it hard when my Tab is my modem (USB tether) and when signal goes to 3G I suddenly ping out on games, lose web connection while surfing the net etc.
Flashed back to HC and all's back to normal, regardless of signal type...
Vodacom will take ages to get the rom circulating in SA, this sucks.
I flashed the ITV stock ics. it turns your tab into a brand new device. extremely fast and responsive. some value added apps and some cosmetic improvements. Already I prefer my tab over an iPad but this update convinced my more and more. one other thing that it carries the latest kernel Samsung could provide, the same as one included in the leaked galaxy s3 jelly bean roms.
I have no issues with wireless connectivity. EDGE 3G HSPDA HSPA+ work flawlessly.
I strongly recommend this update.
one more thing I believe that the p75xx is the most device enjoyed benefits from ics update far beyond my p6800 for instance. I'm not sure if the tegra series is more compatible with ics than exynos things. especially when I compare my p7500 with my i9300. I might be wrong and it can turn up into a kernel issue rather a compatibility one.
Nice
So the Android 10 beta has been out for a while. I was browsing through it and I still haven't updated to the beta version since I heard it was very buggy and unstable. However, I am very eager to try the new beta version (released:23/09/2020) since it boasts of lesser bugs and most importantly it says that we can use GPay.
However I am a big UI fan and was wanting to know what features have they released in this update. Most importantly
have they released the new navigation bar?
Also what other bugs should I expect?
Can I use it as my daily driver after updating?
All in all, should I even consider updating since I love stability I use my phone for a lot for my job and everything.
What should I expect if I update?
What is the SOT?
How heated does it get?
Thanks in advance!
