[Q] MS2 Died? - Milestone 2 General

Yesterday I tried to install the official motorola GB in Froyo but in the way my computer was not enough space to complete the download and installation, after that, he was appearing on a screen with the message "code corrupt", tried to use rsd lite to go back to 2.2 and then update again, but the screen is all black and only the light illuminates the usb. Would anyone know give me a hand?
PS: When i used the rsd lite, during the process apears on screen sw update, or something like that, but, when finishes with "Finished / Pass" it's all black =/
Thanks in advance
Sorry about my english.

Upgrading to Froyo

I am following the beginners guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982 to try upgrade my phone to Froyo before flashing CM7.
When I am in boot menu and connect my phone to USB, unfortunately the Start button in RDS Lite is not becomming available even though the phone has been recognised correctly by the PC and drivers installed sucessfully. Does anyone know why and how I can get the start button to show and RDS Lite to recognise my defy?
Cheers,
John
Try other RSD Lite version , maybe you're using an old one ...
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
Hi. I am on the latest RSD lite version 4.9. I have USB logging enabled. I think there must be something else I am doing wrong?

4.9 is not the latest. If you are on Windows 7 this version can sometimes cause this issue. Look for 5.3.1 or later.

Flash the Boost Gingerbread SBF and you will recovery your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858403
For use in Sprint, you might have to flash the Sprint update.zip again. Not sure about it. but GSM works out of US.
Hi kapil,

It would be stuck on "Contacting Network" for at least 2-3 minutes and than continue further.
Since you cant root the phone and remove the Sprint/Boost Activation files. You need the SPC and use CDMA workshop to change type to RUIM only. That would remove the Contacting Network.

No. it just goes on. Actually when it says 'contacting network', I would press power button to select airplane mode and boot into. But then it says 'Communicating with the server' and this one would go on for hours! (I actually observed it).
Because the only screen it shows is of 'Communicating with Server' and I cannot open ANY application/menu. at this point I dont think I can root. Please confirm.
Also the links to download the Gingerbread sbfs are prompting to install 'Livid' before downloading....isnt there any better link?
Thanks for the quick reply...its like a ray of hope... Long back I had scoured so many forums regarding this only to see dead ends...Please cling on and help me resurrect my XPRT

[Q] My Defy won't turn on

So, i updated the software a few weeks ago from 2.2.2 to 4.1.1 , all went well , it was a complete succes. Today i wanted to go back to 2.2.2 . I downloaded RSD Lite 4.9 and a SBF file, I entered Bootloader menu and tryed to downgrade , but i got some errors and the phone got stuck in bootloader menu . I thought it was from the SBF , and i tryed another file and the update failed and the phone shut down . And now i dont know what to do , i'm kind of desperate . And when i plug it in the PC the white LED turns on , when it is charging in the wallcharger the LED doesent turn on . I tryed different ways to turn it on ... and with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideeas ??

Reflash another SBF... did you try flashing an éclair sbf by mistake?
What was your BL?
Try one of the BL5 froyo sbfs... Nordic seems to be rather popular... check the BL version before you flash, try out BL 5, but I'd suggest you think twice and ask for more help before flashing a BL6 sbf.

Ya BL is 9.10 for all, bit there's (sub) versions of it like CG4 ,CG5 CG6 & CG7. So most people just say BL6 BL7 etc. That's what I meant.
CG Version 2: SBF 2.21 / 2.34 /
Chinese (Éclair) (Defy)
CG Version 3: SBF 2.51 (Éclair) (Defy)
CG Version 4: SBF 3.4.2 (Froyo) (Defy)
CG Version 5: SBF 4.5.0 / 4.5.1
(Gingerbread) (Defy)
CG Version 6: SBF 4.5.1 (Gingerbread,
2.3.6, (Red lens Defy/Defy+) )
CG Version 7: SBF 4.5.1 (Latests
Gingerbreads, 2.3.6, (Red lens Defy/
Defy+) )
If you try to flash a lower ID version
than the one already on your phone, you
will just get a Black screen after booting
or a screen telling you to flash an
official rom.
So, with this in mind, you can now hop
between Android versions without
screwing up your phone.
This thread explains everything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
Use an external charger or another phone to fully charge your battery and then plug it in and RSDLite will detect it.

HI there Jayant ... i am in a situation like yours ....
my defy will not turn on ... battery is ok ... i have 2 batteries and its not turning on at all ... no led lights up .. no screen is on ...
wanted to know how did you managed to sort out your problem
please help me if you can
Hi, I am in a similar situation that my defy wont boot up (no screen activity) after I flashed the official Froyo ( Ver 4). The problem is that i bought it second hand and some miui rom (gingerbread) was installed in it with second init active with prerooted. I wanted official Froyo, dont know what was the highest version installed in it. Later tried to install the Nordic Froyo SBF, it didn't help either.
I have another defy on the same miui built (which is working normally and used for charging the dead defys battery), dont know what to do with the soft-bricked one. Which sbf to flash to make it work again.

exactly the same situation here. Someone pls come up with a solution I don't want to believe that the phone is now useless by a software problem there must be a solution
Have you tried charging through external battery charger or the mcgyver method?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Flashing a bl6 sbf helped out. The sbf I used was dfp-125. Made my defy into defy plus though and only after that it booted. Can root and install secondinit on it for further flashing. Once you get to the red motor logo after flashing, you might have to wipe data cache from stock recovery.
Hope this helps.

Make a downgrade on defy results: Brick your device!
1st attempt: Plug in the PC and wait a green led (means your battery it´s above 80% charged)... Be patient!!!
2nd attempt: You must to have/do one "factory cable"(searchable in CM´s foruns) to charge the battery. To be recognized by the RSD Lite you need to keep the "factory cable" to do a downgrade.
A link that helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2500789

Defy Dead

My mobile got Bricked, i tried to unbrick it by using RSD Lite, when the RSD Lite finishes it says PASS and my phone should restart but it doesn't. It remains dead and I can't make it work. Now even if I want to start it with VOL UP and POWER button, nothing happens. I have a spanish Vodafone version, which ROM should I download? Although nothing appears on the screen, my PC still recognises it and it shows as connected on port 1 in RSD Lite. I've tried with various versions of ROMs but every time the same thing happens. Please help!

BL7 is a Defy+ SBF, which means camera won't work if you have a green lens defy. If you don't know what BL7 is, you should have read Zephyrot's guide. The link is available in the SBF thread in the android development section of the forum.
