So im on TDJ RC0 CM7.2 (1-11-12) or maybe its 1-10-12 idk, any ways...i calibrated my battery today because i have noticed a significant loss of battery life on this rom (12 hours vs 18 on the 12-30 version and 25 hours on faux123's AOSP). (i over clock to 1.1 with darkside govenor). annyways, the issue is, i drained my battery to 0% and plugged it in for about 1 minuet. i turned the phone on and the charger fell off but what i noticed is that my battery percentage was at 20%. this does this also when im normally charging my phone. ill plug it in like at 30% restart and then it will say charged about 5 min later. i know for a fact my phone isnt charged . so can any one shine some light on what this could be? any help would be appreciated
I've been having a problem with my battery as well. It drains too quick. It last me 12 hours but that was me trying not to use it as much as I regularly do. I did a battery calibration but I haven't seen any difference...

hmm well maybe its an issue with the kernel or something who knows, ill probly flash back to 12-30 and report back. its a shame though, i love the holo lock screen!
By the way I'm using a different from, I'm on the ICS . But my battery has been draining fast every time I flash a rom it seems. 2 roms ago I was good but now with the same way I've always used my phone it'll probably last me 5 hours smh that's horrible:/

1. Don't reboot while charging. I always have issues with battery life when I do that.
2. I would do a FULL wipe (boot, data, system, cache) and flash the ROM again from a full charge. Then let it drain completely before putting it on the charger. Don't worry about wiping your battery stats. Just use this method. In principle its the same thing.
For what it is worth, I also noticed similar changes between the 7.2 12/30 release and the latest. I did however start charging while rebooting at some point so maybe that has something to do with it - the phone locks up on one of my chargers, but is fine if you take it back off. I did not experience the 5 min charge phenomena but I will look for it.
I reflashed with full wipe and will let you know if I notice anything ...

Charge time was overnight.
I haven't touched any settings such as screen OC/UV or anything, haven't got around to that. I never worry with calibration.
Used Wifi at home and I left it on by accident at work for ~6 hours with no connection so might have lost some juice there.
Listened to music for 1/2 hour, took about 10 pics, some with flash, emailed pics. Phoned wife or received about 10 calls, not on wifi. Sent some mms. Used guitar tuner. Updated cloudlist for groceries a bunch of times. Played one game of word scrambler. Used flashlight briefly etc.. might have forgot some ... and of course took some screenshots of battery usage and emailed them ... so nothing too heavy but was using phone. - I know, get a life right?
At any rate, pretty pleased. As to the previous reported problem of battery percentage after 5 minutes, I tried to recreate but could not. Charging seems normal and battery life is good.
Hmm well officially I got 19 hours with normal semi heavy use so did you do a full wipe or just data cache and delvic? I'm gunna let the rom settle for a day or so before make a good judgment

I use 4EXT touchcovery. I chose the option in there to wipe everything except for SD card, which is what I now use when swapping ROMs.
In fact this is the first time I had issues with a ROM and it was the first time that I only wiped cache and Dalvik - since I figured it was a patch only, going from from the 12/30 release to the latest. Going back to doing full wipes from here on out.

Go here: http://4ext.net/ there is a free version and a paid version. From within the application you can always download the latest version or touchcovery from with the the app.
Touchcovery thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402820
IMHO although in beta still, there are really no major issues.
Note that you can always go back to CWM if you want ... try it and you will see.
To do sufficient wipe in CWM you would wipe data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik. ... but try 4EXT .. you will like it.

After updating to EB13 it now takes forever for my battery to charge, it barely lasts 6 hours, and the battery gets hot as can be. I now have actually had my phone tell me it cant charge till it cools off. It never happened on DI18. Also, if im doing something on my phone while its plugged in, the charger wont keep up with the usage.

what kernel is on your phone?
my battery was very erratic too after updating to EB13. I just flashed it a second time with odin, and now my battery lasts longer than it ever has!
I'm not sure if this would help you, but it certainly helped me
FYI: I flashed the ext4 version from the dev page, and it seems to run a lot better after an odin flash.
Stock EB13 kernel.

35% Charged
Mine been charging up to 35% all day, Im a try to let it charge all night see what i get in the morning
It takes 8 hours to charge the battery, where it took around 2 hours befre the update. The phone is also hot as well, where it never was when on DI18
mine also takes quite a while to charge, but lasts quite a while as well..
I like the long lasting part.. the slower charging stinks though. :/

That was mostly directed at some of the others in the thread.
If you issue is just that it seems to take too long to charge then wiping stats in CWM (you have to use the one click root - not sure if you can do it in stock recovery) *might* help.
Your issue seems a little different - the phone should NOT run hot like that. Even overclocked to 1.2 mine doesn't get very hot unless I'm really pushing it while it's charging. Have you tried reflashing your phone? Backup everything important and try the Samsung updater tool (it'll wipe everything and start you fresh on EB13).

I flashed from the Samsung updater and then did a battery test. After a full charge I was able to go 34 hours down to 3%. I get better battery life with KB5 too.
I can confirm that data use is probably part of the issue. I live in the sticks, there is no 3G at my house. My battery life is actually descent, no where near what I had with Froyo, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as bad as other people are claiming.
turn off background data when you don't need it, don't use auto brightness.

Yes, also doing that. I recommend to go to the Android Market and search for Battery Calibration by NeMa. It's a great, free application as well to make sure that your battery is calibrated on top of the instruction from the quote.
Using spare parts app change wifi sleep policy to never. Known bug in gingerbread. New wifi drivers were just released for stock builds but I don't know if theyll work on cm7 or if they will be implemented.

Ya battery calibration app works quite well, that is something I haven't done yet with this ROM 0_o
I was having terrible, absolutely terrible battery life with CM7 and I decided to do some investigating. On my initial installation I used Titanium backup and Google Backup to restore settings and applications. I could not manage 4-6 hours on a single charge, with calibration.
I decided to do a fresh CM7 install to test things out. I simply booted into recovery and wiped data, cache, and system. I reinstalled the initial package provided on the CM forums and let CM7 boot. After letting the new installation settle down for 10 minutes, I rebooted into recovery, flashed gapps, and then the newest nightly. Again, I let it boot and sit for 10 minutes before performing anything. After settling down, I charged up to 100%, rebooted into recovery again, and wiped battery stats.
I should note that through this I declined google's offer to use backup services and declines google's offer to restore any old backups. I also decided to not restore any apps through titanium backup.
With my screen brightness set to 100%, wifi enabled, bluetooth enabled, and using the phone at amoderate to heavy amount, I have gone 12 hours and am at 5%. I am certain that after the battery stats can calibrate fully and run through a few more charges I will easily hit 15 hours on moderate to heavy usage.

if you have rom manager pro the nightlies are available for download.
here's a few tips for you guys:
1. turn off 3G, stick to GSM only. Found in settings > wifi and network > mobile network> gsm only
2. use some black themes, anything than the normal grey and stuff should help
3. If you have data, use that instead of wifi, from what I see wifi eats more battery
4. if you're using wifi, go into wifi settings > *menu button* > advanced wifi settings > wifi sleep policy to: when screen turns off or never when plugged in.
hope that helps
This thread has been very helpful. Thanks

Not much point unless your battery stats file is full of inaccurate information. No worry since you can't do it on a non-rooted phone anyway. Give enough charge cycles, the information in the battery stats file eventually works out to be something reasonable even if it started out with inaccurate stats.
how to wipe that battery stats...plz some info
U generally don't have to wipe the battery stats....n never let ur phone full dischared, charge ur phone whenever u get the time.
Fully charge and discharge it once in like 2-3 months to recaliberate it.

Nope, I dont see the point in wiping the battery history, contrary to the popular belief that battery stats is the current running calibration data
its there for a reason.. you think the devs are dumb?

Try turning of Google Now and "report my location" in Google Maps. Most sources of battery drain on LSJ consisted of Google Maps automatically checking you into places.

My nexus 10 is dying with displayed charge at or around 70%. I had lost the tablet and it was dead for months. Idk if that is relevant or not. It did take a full charge a few times after finding the tablet before the above stated issue occurred. The charger I'm using should be in good shape as it charges my Galaxy S4 w/o issue. Running CM 10.1.3 (Stable).
Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Update: now the device is dying while showing charge level in the high 90% mark. Device now dies mid-boot even plugged in. Before it would stay on so long as I kept it plugged in. It will stay on if I go into cwm. That's the curious part.
Sent from my SGH-I337 using XDA Premium HD app
After doing some research I'm going to guess calibration to be the issue. What to do if calibration is so out of wack it thinks its charged when it's dead?
Update: I ran calibration after I managed to get it to 100%. A few minutes later it died. Curiously I put my tablet in recovery mode and it has stayed on for at least an hour now. However when I try to boot into CM it dies. Every retry it dies a little sooner in boot.
Maybe you could go back to stock via fastboot. If that doesnt work I think tour battery is dead.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
Actually I've been letting it sit idle in recovery mode. Its had at least 4 hours to drain now. Haven't been able to kill it yet so I am extra confused. I read the charge with an app and it was at 4400. The tablet is perfectly happy in recovery. I wiped my system partition and reflashed CM. This seemed to have an affect to a degree. Once the dalvik cache was rebuilt the tablet died again and went back to the odd behavior I mentioned. I would prefer to not return to stock unless it is absolutely necessary. I will if I have to but I would like to see if anyone else has seen this issue or has an idea on how to TS it as is.
For the Android junkie this would be a fun issue to trace down. I simply don't have the education. I just created my developer console account and am going through the documentation to create my first app. Clearly outside of Google Fu I'm relatively useless.

I used the image found here to completely wipe and reset all partitions and make the thing like it just came out of the box with no trace of mods left (that I'm aware of). It happily booted in and I got about halfway through initial setup and it died and returned to the same behavior.
What do I do now?
