Wondering if any of you SGS II guys do it after flashing roms?..Yes? No? Sometimes? Ive never done it yet, since I've only flashed like twice, wondering if i should eventually though.

After flashing a new rom, charge it to 100% and then wipe battery stats.

Hmm what if I'm flashing total stock, no cwm/cf root or anything?
Without root you can't use the battery calibration app as well, so you can't wipe
May be the battery will calibrate itself after a couple of charge\discharge cycles.

i wipe stats after a rom flash i am sure the devs and community didnt make it up for no reason
Not much point unless your battery stats file is full of inaccurate information. No worry since you can't do it on a non-rooted phone anyway. Give enough charge cycles, the information in the battery stats file eventually works out to be something reasonable even if it started out with inaccurate stats.
how to wipe that battery stats...plz some info
U generally don't have to wipe the battery stats....n never let ur phone full dischared, charge ur phone whenever u get the time.
Fully charge and discharge it once in like 2-3 months to recaliberate it.

Nope, I dont see the point in wiping the battery history, contrary to the popular belief that battery stats is the current running calibration data
its there for a reason.. you think the devs are dumb?
flashing it makes it much more accurate.
I always wipe the battery stats after flashing a new custom rom.
I think this is especially important if you don't flash at 100% battery.

I was told to post here..
I bin using litening rom v1.5 for like 2 weeks..everything was running fine untill 3-4 days ago my battery would drain in like 3 hours from 100%. After it drained i would try and charge it..it keeps freezing on the battery screen and changing all diff colours lile blue red green. When v2.0 come out i flashed it via odin. I done all the basics like wipe data/cache ect. After it flashed i recalibrated battery..but last night it done the same thing. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Btw when i go to battery usage 'Android OS' says 97%. I dont have any other apps running in the background nor have i changed any settings. Its all stock settings. I dont run any overclocking apps. Only root apps i have are cachemate, titanium and CWM

recalibrated battery not after flashing a rom,
but after the battery completely recharges.
I'm sure its battery calibration problem,
Do this
Let the battery die completely (let the phone turn off by itself)
Then connect charger and let it charge till you get charge full notification,
Then recalibrated your battery.
Btw next time if you have problem with some rom, make a post in that roms thread.
Dont start a new thread Especially in the wrong section.
Can I ask you who told you to post here?
Thanks very much. Erm i forgot who told me to..i think they meant in the offical litening rom thread i must of missed read sorry im new to this. One more quick question, should i use the battery calibation app i downloaded off the market or boot into cwm and wipe battery stats?

what i said was sarcastic, hope you got that
First of all, I know what most people will say: wipe battery stats and condition the battery, but I'm too lazy.
So recently I've been noticing that sometimes my battery charge percentage goes up rather than down. For example, tonight I put my phone in my pocket at 18% battery left. I watched some tv and checked it again ~1.5 hours later to find that it was now at 32%. I've seen this happen on occasion before, but never such a significant jump.
Anybody have any clue as to why it would do this? Other than the fact that my battery stats are needing to be wiped. idk just seems weird to me

Sometimes that happens after a random reboot, where when it comes back up, it has "dropped battery." Then it realizes it isn't actually that low, so the battery meter will climb till it actually equals the battery. Then it'll start dropping again.

That was happening to me on Clean GB, I reboot my phone every 4 days or so and my percentage would drop significantly after booting back up, then start increasing. I've never wiped my battery stats. I'm using another stock-like ROM so I'll see if it happens again.

When you reboot do it while plugged into a charger and that won't happen. It is a glitch in CWM and battery stats.

"Conditioning your battery" after wiping battery stats takes nothing more than regular usage of your phone. All the people that say you have to do all that stuff after calibration are just recommending it because it causes your phone to adjust faster.
Just charge it all the way and use battery calibration to wipe stats. Your battery life will take a few days of use to improve to good levels, but it works and you don't have to do anything other than what you normally do with your phone.
So im on TDJ RC0 CM7.2 (1-11-12) or maybe its 1-10-12 idk, any ways...i calibrated my battery today because i have noticed a significant loss of battery life on this rom (12 hours vs 18 on the 12-30 version and 25 hours on faux123's AOSP). (i over clock to 1.1 with darkside govenor). annyways, the issue is, i drained my battery to 0% and plugged it in for about 1 minuet. i turned the phone on and the charger fell off but what i noticed is that my battery percentage was at 20%. this does this also when im normally charging my phone. ill plug it in like at 30% restart and then it will say charged about 5 min later. i know for a fact my phone isnt charged . so can any one shine some light on what this could be? any help would be appreciated
I've been having a problem with my battery as well. It drains too quick. It last me 12 hours but that was me trying not to use it as much as I regularly do. I did a battery calibration but I haven't seen any difference...

hmm well maybe its an issue with the kernel or something who knows, ill probly flash back to 12-30 and report back. its a shame though, i love the holo lock screen!
By the way I'm using a different from, I'm on the ICS . But my battery has been draining fast every time I flash a rom it seems. 2 roms ago I was good but now with the same way I've always used my phone it'll probably last me 5 hours smh that's horrible:/

1. Don't reboot while charging. I always have issues with battery life when I do that.
2. I would do a FULL wipe (boot, data, system, cache) and flash the ROM again from a full charge. Then let it drain completely before putting it on the charger. Don't worry about wiping your battery stats. Just use this method. In principle its the same thing.
For what it is worth, I also noticed similar changes between the 7.2 12/30 release and the latest. I did however start charging while rebooting at some point so maybe that has something to do with it - the phone locks up on one of my chargers, but is fine if you take it back off. I did not experience the 5 min charge phenomena but I will look for it.
I reflashed with full wipe and will let you know if I notice anything ...

Charge time was overnight.
I haven't touched any settings such as screen OC/UV or anything, haven't got around to that. I never worry with calibration.
Used Wifi at home and I left it on by accident at work for ~6 hours with no connection so might have lost some juice there.
Listened to music for 1/2 hour, took about 10 pics, some with flash, emailed pics. Phoned wife or received about 10 calls, not on wifi. Sent some mms. Used guitar tuner. Updated cloudlist for groceries a bunch of times. Played one game of word scrambler. Used flashlight briefly etc.. might have forgot some ... and of course took some screenshots of battery usage and emailed them ... so nothing too heavy but was using phone. - I know, get a life right?
At any rate, pretty pleased. As to the previous reported problem of battery percentage after 5 minutes, I tried to recreate but could not. Charging seems normal and battery life is good.
Hmm well officially I got 19 hours with normal semi heavy use so did you do a full wipe or just data cache and delvic? I'm gunna let the rom settle for a day or so before make a good judgment

I use 4EXT touchcovery. I chose the option in there to wipe everything except for SD card, which is what I now use when swapping ROMs.
In fact this is the first time I had issues with a ROM and it was the first time that I only wiped cache and Dalvik - since I figured it was a patch only, going from from the 12/30 release to the latest. Going back to doing full wipes from here on out.

Go here: http://4ext.net/ there is a free version and a paid version. From within the application you can always download the latest version or touchcovery from with the the app.
Touchcovery thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402820
IMHO although in beta still, there are really no major issues.
Note that you can always go back to CWM if you want ... try it and you will see.
To do sufficient wipe in CWM you would wipe data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik. ... but try 4EXT .. you will like it.
Whenever I leave my phone charged overnight, I wake up to around 70% charged. It's as though once it reaches 100%, it stops "charging" and it starts using the battery's energy, rather than the AC. Any help?

What kernel/rom are you running. The only suspect is that your kernel does not have "trickle charge" in the new kgb kernel you have to enable this with the app.

Is there any Custom ROM in particular that you would recommend?
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070 and follow step 2, then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459905 readthrough the first part on TW kernels, choose one of the 3 custom kernels (not the stock one), best advice is to read the op of each one and find one you think will work for you. they are all three well written kernels. one is already oc'd to 1200, which means no need for voltage control if you plan to oc your phone. most phones are stable at 1200 but thats just from doing alot of messing around and odining. the second post is the instructions for flashing the kernel. the first post just explains all of them to the best i could w/o kanging any information from the op. i just ran what i knew off memory. links to each kernel's op are at the bottom of post 1. i did links to the op's instead of posting dropbox files due to the fact that I want people to make sure they know what features each kernel has before they download it.

They are essentially the same thing. Battery Calibration is wiping the battery stats and running the phone dead than fully recharging.
I have been having a very similar issue. A buddy of mine (captivate) and I found that the phone wont charge past 98% on CyanogenMod with the Glitch kernel. I set the phone to not lock and keep the screen on while charging and the problem went away. The phone also would not stay on A/C power after reaching 98%. This issue was fixed too.
I think its an inherent problem with the batteries on the phones, since the issue occurs on many different roms/kernels/phones.
whether it's caused by the phone, ROM, or kennel, battery calibrator is a simple app that is at least worth a try in my opinion

Just let it drain from normal use to 15% then fully charge it.

I know a couple of years back or whenever the EVO was the big cheese you had to calibrate after flashing. Recoveries even had options for wiping battery stats. I just wasnt sure if it was an issue anymore. But thanks!
A battery is a battery. As far as I know its taken care of by hardware that is responsible for charging it.

These phones (Galaxy S models) take care of it themselves. All you do by calibrating is wipe the battery stats, but it won't provide any benefit.

I remember reading over in the sgs3 forum about wiping battery stats/ calibration was that it was proved it was all a myth. I'll have to look for it....
Omega v3.0, 3minit framework, kt kernel 2.2 Ghz
Calibrating your battery (or calibrating the software to correctly read your battery's charge) was something that needed to be done on the captivate (SGS1) after installing a new ROM but not on any of the galaxy phones since then. Even then the software would correct itself after a charge or two.
