My Kindle is dead because of root! Help! - Kindle Fire General

Hello, yesterday evening I rooted my KF throughout KFU http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889 and today when I come back after the party I recognized that my KF does not power up at all. I remember that left it charging to power supplier. So the battery is full, even now when it is on it, it does not power up at all. I pressing the power button for any time, and there is just a green light for a second or two and that's it. Even when now it is charging the button does not light at all (no orange or green light as usual).
I do not what to do and I am pretty scared as I am from UK and probably there is no chance to refund or repair this tablet

Press and hold the power button for fifteen seconds. Then try starting it.

When it enters a state like that. Then, yes.

Navai, what ROM and kernel are you running?

I had this happen with my Kindle, was before Root so I think it would have happened regardless of Rooting if we experienced the same issue. In my case after trying to get the thing to power on at work when leaving for the night and outside I noticed that the screen back-light was on. I did what is above and held down the power button for about 15 seconds and the screens back-light turned off.I then pushed in the power button and everything booted up like normal.

[Q] How to reboot Nexus 4 when it freezes?

Simple Question I think:
How to reboot a LG Nexus 4 when it freezes. You can´t pull the Battery out. Is there a Key combination to do so?
You hold down the power button until the device powers off.

OK Thanks. I didn´t thought it´s just simple.

Does this also apply when flashing roms and kernels ? I am thinking about scenarios where you have a boot loop after a bad flash, does holding down the power button still work ? This is the only thing holding me back from buying a Nexus 4.

That is a completely different device.
Worked on the Galaxy S2 also this way, you can hold the power button while booting (bootloop) after several seconds it completely shutsdown.
It's different on different devices. On HTC it's holding +vol,-vol and power button together. On others it may differ. But any phone with non removable battery has a hard reset button combibation afaik.
I was under the impression that if you have a small phillips screwdriver nearby you can unscrew the two screws on the bottom of the device to access/pull the battery.
Works fine on HOX.
Holding power button has #1 priority.
Holding power whilst in a bootloop will turn off the device, hold it a little longer and it will reboot.
Holding power + volume down takes you to fastboot.

Same as Gnex/ N7 I guess, hold both the volume buttons and power and you're out of any crap you got yourself in.

On the G2x, holding Vol Up + Power does the trick, HOWEVER, there have been times when my phone has froze and that did not reboot my device and I still had to pull my battery...

Ummm, I wouldn't make that kind of suggestion to the people around here haha. The battery is NOT meant to be removed. Can it be? Yes. Should it be? No. Especially not for a reset. You risk damaging some things or wearing down the spring antennae connectors if you are constantly opening it up just to unhitch the battery. I think it is glued in anyways.
Holding the power button on my GS2 always restarts it even if it is stuck in a bootloop. I assume this phone will work the same way.

From what I been reading they are Torx screws.

Many devices with the non removable battery use this - holding both volume up and down buttons and the power button - for performing a hard reset.

Hard reset should not be an issue for XDA flashers!
Hold down power button for ~10 seconds.

Can someone actually reply here who HAS a Nexus 4 and has actually tried whatever combination it may be to reset... rather than people coming and saying how it is on HTC or Samsung or whatever the hell... noone cares about those... the question is how to do it on the N4 and ONLY the N4 along for what IS the correct method, rather than what they THINK it is...
Thank you

[Q] Nexus 4 suddenly frozen

Hopefully someone can help me.
Suddenly my nexus has frozen with screen off.
Per Google CS instructions, Ive tried to hold down the power button down as well as holding the power button down with volume rocker pressed and still no restart.
Has anyone had this problem, would rather not have to buy a new device and send the other back as that is all I could do.
Hopefully I can just fix it without having to go through the trouble of getting a new device and returning this one.
Thanks in advance!
Try leaving it on the charger for a day. Could be that the battery somehow completely drained which messes up the recharging system in the battery. Leaving it in the charger for some time might help, or not.

Worth a shot...I really miss removable batteries right about now!!!
Yeah, this has happened before with my nexus 7 and my touchpad also. I had left something running that totally killed the battery and I could not get a boot at all. After charging though I was able.
Chances are it is not frozen but rather dead most likely because of the battery.
sent via xda premium with nexus 7
Turns out its most likely not the battery as it was just about fully charged prior to the freeze. Plugging in to a computer to try to do the hard reset gets the notification light to flash red. Someone on another android forum had the same issue and needed a replacement.
Just ordered my replacement which they have available since they kept a reserve for possible defective devices. A hold for the new phone will be placed on my account until they receive the defective unit.
Hopefully its a fairly painless process! That being said, it was a great phone when it worked! Hoping its not going to be a widespread issue among other users.
Just got my new nexus delivered... Hopefully no issues with this one!

N7 Only displaying battery icon

Hey guys,
Recently got my Nexus 7. I tried turning it on when it came out of the box but it didn't.
So I though I'd charge it for a while. When I plug it in a battery icon pops up for about ten seconds and then the screen goes black again.
I can't turn it on at all. Tried holding the power button for a long time but that didn't work either.
I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out rather quickly because I'm on holiday in the US so I've got limited time left to swap it, if nothing else helps.

When I took it out of the box the battery was about half full (according to the charging animation). Now it appears to be full. Left it charging for about 2 hours.
Thanks for the quick reply by the way.
try holding the power button down and the volume down button. see if itll boot into the bootloader. if it does, select start in the bootloader then press the power button to select. maybe itll boot that way.

Not working either. The only thing I've managed to see on my display is the charging animation so far.
Feels like such a disappointment.
have you tried holding down the power button longer than you would expect to hold it down? like 1-2 minutes.

Just held it for 3 straight minutes. Nothing. At one point I thought I saw something on the screen but it was a reflection. Haha.

I had a similar issue after a couple months of use with mine. The screen just turned black while I was playing a game and it wouldn't respond to anything. At first I thought it had shorted out or something, and I was considering returning it, but after about an hour of leaving it alone on the charger, it started working again like magic. My friend had the same exact issue. Idk maybe this helps....

Or do you think I should return it anyways as there might be more to it?

you should probably exchange is well you still have a chance. better to be safe than sorry.
If you're feeling froggy, you could check to see if the battery is plugged in. Asus seems to have a QC problem when it comes to connecting the N7 battery.

[Q] green light while charging

hello all
my n4 got wet two days ago. since friday i didn't manage to power it on.
today, after i opened it and put it in a bowl of dry rice (heard it can absorb the fluids) i connected it to the charger and after i pressed the power button for few seconds it the green led light popped, but turned off after few seconds. when i press it for few sec and it turns on and afrterwards turns off.
now it's connected and i managed to keep the green light on for the last 0.5 hour. do i still have a chance to save it and what should i do, or it lost?
i'll mention i don't have an app about the lights and didn't root my phone. i also looked it up in the forum and didn't find a similar problem.
thank you very much for the effort.
You should of placed it in rice has soon has possible.
The green LED means fully charged.
When you mean by turns on do you mean it shows the Google splash screen and if so then when does it come off?

If I were you I would try rooting the phone and installing Slimbean or another rom that lets you disable the LED light. That could shut it off for good hopefully unless the LED lost all connection to the motherboard and it's only getting power now.

Anyone else have a sticky power button?

Seems if I don't press it for a while, it is kind of "crunchy" at first press but is fine when pressing it again repeatedly. It doesn't get stuck when depressed, but more like its a little stuck before pressing and is kinda rough that first initial push. Kinda hard to explain. Not a huge issue. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

On my first one, the power button wouldn't depress if you pressed the top half of the button but it worked fine if you pressed the bottom half. Started the return process through Amazon and had a new one the next day.

If you have moto care, I'd imagine you can swap it out. Like you said though, I'm just used to it now. If it ever gets worse or starts hanging, I will return it for a replacement. I am currently using double tap to sleep and there should be a double tap to wake feature soon with new ROMs dropping. So I wont be pressing the power button much except for reboots/recovery.
