Lost my galaxy note :( - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

So I was in the taxi last night and my phone dropped out of my pocket, tried calling taxi company up and was no use! Im on orange and paying £41a month, is there anything I can do?

Unless you have security apps like seek droid or lookout to track your phone, then its gone. So sorry for you.
Thats why i never turn off data and gps on my phone. Doesnt hurt my battery life Coz it can last for hrs with this battery.

Here are some things you can do:
1 - Call up Orange and cut the line incase your sim is used...
2 - Should you be insured simply report it as stolen and you will get a replacement
3 - Next time track & remote your phone - Should you loose it you can track it!

Omg open browser on pc. Go to google market and remote install lookout plan b

Also, you can remotely install "androidlost" that is an excellent application for finding your device, provided it's still online and trusted to your google account. Gives you geo coordinates, photo from front and back camera, can make it speak or whistle or show a message, can run a Web server to gain access to your own data, and can wipe or lock the phone remotely.

This is a situation for http://samsungdive.com
Try your samsung account on that site. It should tell you where the phone is.

sounds like you are UK based, so you should report the phone as lost to the police, obtain a reference number which you'll need for insurance claim, then as already mentioned, contact Orange. While reporting to the police, ask about getting the IMEI blocked and ask Orange the same.
Sorry to hear of your loss though, you'd not think a phone this big would be lost easily, makes a good point about tracking software to all of us, albeit at your loss. mine doesn't seem to have the Samsung remote option in the menu which is odd, KKA cf-rooted. Thought it was there in the original firmware but not there now.
Dave

I second the Samsung dive option , it can track your phone over 12 hours and show you where it's been. One you find it you can make it ring at full volume to prove its yours.

Samsung dive
Samsung Dive is very handy

What can you do? ...........not get so pissed next time!! ;-)

Really sorry about your loss.
There is an app on the market I have read about, called "Plan B" - it's meant for installing/using AFTER you have lost your phone.
I myself have not tried it, but should work if the phone hasn't been factory-reset and is still tied to your google account.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb
Hope you get your phone back!

Hey really sorry for your loss i can only imagine the pain of losing such an amazing phone, but i think the best way to retrive it is to go personally to the taxi company and kick up a fuss or something and see if you could get your phone back.
I really hope you do and if you do, use the samsung dive feature as its really awesome and is a life saver, i dont think you need gps turned on but you do need data usage on to track it
Once again i wish you lots of luck in finding it

To use SamsungDive, you will have to have a Samsung Account and is registered with SamsungDive. Your mobile tracker must also be on and whoever got your phone have not disabled it.
If you have a SamsungDive account and your mobile is locked and cannot be tampered with and the tracker is on then tracking your lost phone will be easy.

Thank you all for your suggestions I greatly appreciate it. Trying them all now and hoping one will work thank you again

Since you are in the UK, you can try the following.
Ask your mobile provider formally for a subject access request for all your data with your provider including call logs, SMS logs, internet logs, location data from mobile phone masts from the time your phone was lost. They cannot refuse a subject access data under the law. If they refuse then contact information commissioners office by complaint.
Use the call logs, location data etc to track person who took phone. even if they took the phone and sold it after trying it a bit the then location data and calls logs and internet email access, Facebook access etc should be useful to catch person. Police won't be interested at all from my friends experience. But if you get the data then they can't ignore you hopefully.
Best of luck. But try other methods suggested too.

Sorry to hear you lost your phone, it's made me think about what I would do in the same situation. I don't have a samsung account so can't use samsung dive, what other options are available to track a lost/stolen phone?
Again, sorry to hear of your loss OP, I would raise hell with the Taxi company, they will know which driver you were with and will contact him to ask if he found anything which of course he may deny.

As you say, he may deny finding anything even if he did, but given that most cab drivers don't search their cabs after each fare, it's just as likely that a subsequent fare found and took the phone.

I know how you feel. Just very recently lost my HTC HD2. Broke my heart. I loved that phone

Right so I tried everything apart from and still no luck apart from bubblesmoney idea which I will give a try but for that method to work would it need my sim card ? Cause I blocked that one so they can't use it

Typing delay + more!

alright when i first got my phone i never had a problem with a typing delay. but now my phone is 6 mopnths old and i am now having lots of problems. fristly a few weeks ago i had to do a complete factory reset becuse my phone totally went rretarted. i was sitting in a restuarant and i was txting someone and her name is tiffany. i texted her and then the next message she sent me showed her number in stead of her name(like from tiffany now says from 72789846) but i didnt think anything of it like maybe she had her friends phone or something. so i didnt do anything about it. and then i got home that night and fell asleep and when i awoke i had 2 missed called so i clicked missed calls on the htc home plug in and the phone totally locked up. i reset it and upod reset i found that i cannot make calls. cant recieve calls. it said i didnt have service. couldnt go online . lost all my contacts. and the only thing i could do is text. i was furious of course. this would be the second time this year i lost all my contacts! So i called sprint and they could do nothing for me. So i did a factory reset and sucked it up!. this itself is a huge prblem becuase i no longer trust my phone at all. but i reset it and then found the new sprint rom so i loaded that on there (2nd format basicly) and its all good i suppose. its a little bit slower than it used to be. but now my cpu is as 90-95% with nothing running. slowing down my ppc to almost a standstill. it takes a very long time to open anything. but thats not why im bothered. now whenever i type the typeing delay is sooooooooo badd.. i will type a full text message and it wont type anything then i will put my phone down and 5 seconds or so later the message will be typing itself!. i want this to be fixed. also i want to speed up my phone because its very agrivating. a cheap 20 dollar phone is faster than this 350 dollar POS. but i am forced to live with my phone. and its a dam shame because i love the phone. i love everything you can do. but i want to be able to do those things well..i mean i paid 350$ for a good phone not frustration. if anyone can be of assistance please post thank you

I am sorry, that is one of the hardest things to read I have ever seen on this board. Good luck to you and to whoever can read that and find an answer for you.
OP: I have to agree with RevSand.
I Tried - really, I did. But, the simple fact is, my eyes crossed trying to read that ?paragraph?
You'll have much better luck getting a response if you
A) shorten that whole thing to include relevant details
B) don't type it like you're typing a text message
C) Line breaks. Paragraph Breaks.
People on message boards (myself included) generally browse through pretty quickly. VERY long winded and difficult to read posts often get read 5% of the way through, and not finished. I'm sure you can see why this would be detrimental to your getting a response/solution.
Have a great day,
Ben

I suggest finding a reliable ROM from either DCD kitchens or no2chem. Then uploading it into your phone ( sprint rom ofcourse ) maybe the tweaks they have made can help you out.
But if you want to stay at a stock rom ( with out GPS or Rev.A ) im sure DCD has a very stable rom for that too, or you can exchange your phone for a new one if everything else fails.

I second [email protected]$'s sentiments. I'm using DCD's 3.0.1 ROM and it is great!
The 15 minute solution is to first reflash your phone with the latest Official Sprint Mogul ROM 3.35:
http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=75&act=sd
This will not only hard reset your device (erases all data), it will upgrade both the operating system and the radio. The upgraded radio enables GPS and also enables even faster data speeds.
Copy the .exe file of dotFred's PIM backup v2.8 (for WM5 & WM6)
http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm
into a directory (doesn't matter) on your Mogul and schedule it to regularly, AUTOMATICALLY backup all of your Contacts (and whatever else you want) onto your MicroSD every night.
There is LOTS of detailed information in this great forum about this. For further info on the Stock Sprint upgrade you can also check out:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20641
Depending upon your job or environment, it is possible that you subjected your Mogul to an electric shock or EMP of some sort that might happen again (which could erase or corrupt your personal data), so you probably want to make a habit of backing up/synchronizing your unit with your desktop PC.
If you want to use a customized ROM, I would recommend one of DCD's latest. At the top of the "Titan Upgrading" section of XDA-Developers, you'll see DCD's latest ROM "dcd's titan ROMs & kitchen 3.0.4" or you can do a search for "DCD titan Rom 3.0.1" and select the .exe "Sprint ROM" made by |||bored||| posted by DCD in the first post. These can speed up your device even more and offer some nice features.
However there are some careful (but easy) steps that you'll want to follow when upgrading to a customized ROM, so I strongly recommend reading the forums carefully. I found this one helpful:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17667
Also, because most of the customized ROMs are streamlined to operate faster and more efficiently, some features that you MIGHT want have been disabled or removed. Browsing the forums can help identify how to re-enable/re-install any of these that are important to you. That being said, they've added LOTs of nice features not available on the stock ROM.

[Q] lost my galaxy s2 - utrack not active :((((

Hi all
I lost my galaxy s2 two days ago. I called my phone a few times until the person who has found it, shut it down.
Unfortunately I did not activate utrack. All I have my IMEI. Here in Switzerland only my provider does blacklist IMEI-Numbers, so that sucks too.
Anybody got any idea, or should I leave it??
There is not much you can do if you didn't activate tracking in phone(samsungdive) or use some aplication for that purpose.
Tracking is i think.by.default active if u logged in to samsung account

This app could have helped you, had you not called the number and warned the person that you are looking for the phone.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb&feature=search_result
if the phone is still on you can still try to install that app via the link above.
Sign into the market on your PC using your google account.
Choose to install "Lookout Plan B" to your phone.
If it is on and with network connection, with your data remaining, it should be installed.
if who found your phone know a little bit about android i think the first thing he does is to delete your gmail account to prevent you from install apps from the web...so if you can't lock by imei there's nothing else you can do i guess

hey guys
Many Many thanks for that great input. I am talking about Plan B. The chance that somebody knowing about android found it, isnt that big. I did install it over the market and it said, that its going to be installed, so i am praying for my luck know.
Will keep you guys up-to-date.
Thanks once again.
for all these things (Plan B and Dive) to even work the phone must be on, must be on 3G data plan service, or be on Wifi. If you had the data off when you lost it, and the finder does not enable it by some rare miracle, you will never find it.
Most probably you are screwed OP. I lost my SGS1 the same way.
You can however try sending to your number a text message that says "Get $$ reward for this phone, call XXXXX" or something similar, and hope the crook will decide to return your phone. For this to work the phone must only be on and must be on a cell network (no data required).
Last option is to print reward ads and stick them to light poles in the area where you lost the phone.

hmmm... And I thought my lost-phone-karma was positive, since I found and SGS1 a few months ago and returned it to the owner immediatly.
well, my only chance is, the phone will be connected to a wireless connection, since ive got my sim blocked through the provider. The hope is gone but who knows, miracles can happen
Firstly, good luck carthago, I hope you find your phone!
Secondly, and just for curiosity, does anyone know if could Samsung DIVE, Tektrak, Lookout and those similar tools can operate if the person who find the phone do a factory reset or flash a new firmware? I doubt that it could be possible, however I'm not an expert.
If there is no way for those tools to work after a factory reset or a flashing a new firmware, their usefulness is limited to the case that the thief either an idiot (regarding the factory reset) or computer illiterate (regarding re-flashing the phone).
In the case of free tools, any remote possibility of help is welcome, of course (better than nothing), however there are also many paid apps which purport to be THE solution this kind of problem.
No they don't work after factory reset

All those tools are good IF you lost the phone, realized it right away, ran to the nearest computer and activated the tools, provided the phone is still reachable and on data network.
For the crooks who STEAL the expensive phones, the business is a fine tuned machine. 10 people run around stealing, and the immediately turn them off or remove battery. then they bulk-sell them to phone hackers who produce brand new freshly installed phones that can be sold at local flea market
Deactivating the IMEI I think will do anything only if the new owner tries to activate the phone on the same network.
First I was calling my phone again and again, cause I thought perhaps it was laying around somewhere and so I could hear it. But then that asshole had found out how to shut it down.
If you find something and theres no name and nothing on it, ok, if you keep that perhaps thats not exactly stealing. But if you shutdown a phone, because the owner is calling again and again, that is STEALING!

I was just wondering: one of the features of those tracking apps is the possibility of wiping your data if you lose your phone. Therefore, if wiping your data in this way (which I don't know if it corresponds to a factory reset or is just a 'soft wipe') means that it will be no longer possible to locate your phone?

[Q] I lost my Nexus - what now?

HI all, I lost my Nexus 7 today.
I was gutted - searched high & low in the local supermarket and couldn't find it.
Luckily a decent chap had found that his nephew was sat in the car playing with it (having found it) and I got it back. (cheers chappy!) :good:
I am still in shock about this, its my 3rd arm, my memory, my precious!
However - what in case this happens again?
I have Prey on it, but I have found that there is some delay when the alarm goes off and it being locked - long enough for me to find and stop prey.
I have lookout security on it.
So I can get a location and a photo, lock it (assuming the person with it is not techy and turns both off first.)
Can you recommend any other apps etc?
I think a big sticker inside my cover with my details might also be in order.
What would you suggest?

DON'T SET IT DOWN ANY WHERE AND FORGET ABOUT IT!!!
Hahaha. Sorry, I really don't have any suggestions (other than what I just said). I've never lost a device before an just don't see how anyone does! Especially in your situation, since you said how much it means to you!

Order an iron cage and then hook that cage to yourself and make sure when you are not using it, it must be kept inside.
You will never lose it!
Great words from Alfred lord Tennyson: Tis better to have lived and lost than to never have lived at all.
On s serious not, I think cerebus is good. If you're rooted it can be a system app and even survive a factory reset. Not a factory flash though. Most people won't know how to though.

I'd like to +1 Cerberus too.
I use it too, but you'd need to have / hope your tablet will hook onto a wifi network if you want recovery options. Otherwise, you'll have to hope Android's security options will protect your data if you consider it sensitive.
P.S. Worth every penny I paid for my life-time account. I have no affiliation to them other than being a customer.

EDIT:AH! maybe the update to 4.3 unrooted it?
What would worry me most is
My home was ripped off and all they took were iPads. I at the time did not use any code to create security so I knew my iPad was gone forever. The thing that bothers me the most about your story is how some kid found your device and didn't tell anyone, just taking it out to his car and playing with it, intending to keep it of course,.
Two things about these 7" tablets. They are easy to carry along and easy to misplace so it behooves one to always have a place for it and always use security so it can't just be used without at least making an effort.
Yes that is a worry - I might have to start using a pattern lock or something.
Cerberus looks cool - but not all the features work - I think 'll neet to root it again for that.
Its cheap too - might go for it.
Oh and the android device manager is OK too.
Not sure if I should start another thread on this - but now that I have upgraded to 4.3 and its no longer rooted, will running wugfresh and re rooting it remove any apps or data on it?

If the tablet is still unlocked (i.e., unlocked padlock symbol under "Google" logo while it boots up) then all you should need to do is flash the SuperSu zip file that can be found in many places on this forum to root, and a factory reset shouldn't be necessary, but always make a Nandroid backup just in case.
If you need to unlock the bootloader (necessary to root), last I checked a factory wipe is required.
Cheers, its backing up right now.
BBC1 has just featured Cerberus and shown how good it is.

Nice to know there are still since honest people left..
Lookout is good to but I
Installed avg pro and if you lose it not only can you track it down but you can even wipe it remotely if you can't get it back. Also.. Had the picture thing but the best thing is one payment.
No yearly or monthly.. That was why I got it and not lookout.

I have purchased cerberus, it was cheap enough and does the job.
After several backups using the nexus toolkit etc I have used cerberus to see if it can wipe it.
It did.
Not sure whether to smile or frown lol.
Now I'm restoring, however I notice that my folders are not restored, just the apps so I have to sort everything again.
But it did the job, I wont use a pattern lock so if its lost the finder can either try to contact me or use it online - and thats needed to be able to take pics and locate it etc.
I think I'll look into the adding of cerberus to the rom also, also going to add the wifes phone & tablet to my account.
Oh hang on - restore has just finished.
Hmm - not happy - fast notepad does not have its notes
good job I did my own backup lol put em back now.
I use Cerberus, more powerful than Google device manager.

Are Cerberus photos working for you guys? For me they come out as vertical streaks, regardless of the photo format selected. This seems to be a common problem, as far as I can tell.
Photos are working fine for me however I would note a few issues.
It does not always communicate well, wiping required root.
If the wifi is off then I need to wait until someone turns it on, so I cannot use a pattern lock on it.
If I send a siren message then they can instantly cancel it.
Mine is in a Lente Designs case with a magnetic cover so it auto locks it when closed.
However, the siren just goes "Brpp" with the cover closed, open the cover and it goes off, close the cover and it stops.
And the lock - if II enter the correct code the next time it sleeps I then need to enter the lock again.
So you need to send an unlock command to it to stop this.
All the same I bought it and installed it on my tablet, wifes tablet & phone.
I suppose at the very least I can find her when out shopping lol
+1 for Cerbus. I have it on 3 devices.

[Q] Am I being watched/logged?

Dear all,
This is the second time I come seeking you aid. I have a company provided Galaxy S4 9500. This is part of my compensation package so I own the cellphone while the company covers 70% of the full price while the rest is deducted from my paycheck. I am under a company payed for plan (but the device is legally mine)
Have had it for a month now while still using another device (personal one) but I am migrating now and I have noticed a strange behavior, sometimes when unlocking the phone or starting to make a phone call I get a "USSD CODE RUNNING" screen then an error message. It stops quickly and then it's like nothing happened. I believe I am a fairly good at understanding when it comes to the device (have rooted one phone but I don't code) so after ample googling I am only able to find posts about last years USSD scare.
This is Q3 2013 and I have a 9500. Should I be scared? Should I flash? I have only updated to 4.2.2 and not even updated Chrome. Have NOT installed ANY app whatsoever, have not logged in to my Google account and only have the corporate email here.
Of note is corporate bought devices are handed out to you pristine but already opened and probably messed with.
If you're worried just install a custom recovery, wipe everything and related flash stock firmware with Odin

Any company-provided device is probably monitored, particularly if you are employed in a field where information can be very important, like finance, legal, NSA super-spy, etc. If they just hand you the phone already pre-opened, my guess would be that the IT department has had their hands on it.
Installing a custom recovery and re-flashing the ROM should clear that, however you may be in violation of your employer's rules if indeed they keep an eye on such things.

[Q] "SIM card removed" error DRIVING ME CRAZY

(Incase xda won't show the picture)
SIM card removed
Unable to detect your SIM card. Your device will restart to check for your SIM card
Restart (button)
Anyone else get this error? I can't do ANYTHING when this pops up. Can't pull down my status bar, no where to dismiss the message, can't bring up the app switcher, nothing. Only things i can do is hit the sleep button to turn off the screen or hit restart.
A few months ago, i'd get it maybe once a week. Then it got progressively worse to once a day, a few times a day, then eventually it would pop up 15-20 times a day, making my phone essentially useless. Went to an at&t store, and got a new SIM card, hoping that was the problem. That solved the problem for about a week, and it started getting progressively worse again. I'm now getting this error message about once or twice a day again.
I cracked my screen (not huge, just 2 long cracks) a few weeks after getting the phone back in august, so i'd have to replace the screen ($150 locally) before sending my phone into samsung, so i was hoping there was maybe a more simple fix and the SIM reader wasn't physically bad :-\
At&t Samsung Galaxy S4 32gb stock ROM, fully updated firmware, non rooted (can't figure out how)
The sim card issues Is a know issue. I would have samsung fix the screen and the sim card error.
They should fix the sim card issue under warranty but if you try to do the screen your self they may chard for the repair. Most likely like mine it was the main system board that needed to be replaced.

I had my main system board go bad on my s3, and they told me if the screen is cracked, the warranty is automatically void. So i had the glass repaired locally ($130) and then shipped it out to samsung to get looked at. Unfortunatly they completely whiped the entire phone (internal memory) to replace the board, obviously. I'm really hoping they wouldn't have to do that with this phone, since it's just a piece on the board and not the board itself.
Are there any threads that talk about this issue? I'd like to do more research before spending the money to have it repaired

Why not just buy a Sim tray for 10$ and replace it yourself??

because that doesn't fix it nor does a new sim card it's a known Samsung problem and one I've been battling for months I believe it's a software problem that Samsung is aware of. Here's the other thread.

I haven't been able to confirm it yet but I think I might have a solution. I was going to wait a couple of days before posting but then I figured that I can post and collectively we can get a better sample size of data to come to a conclusion. I had long suspected that this was somehow due to location services as the problem first began for me when I downloaded Find my Friends and Glympse. I tried everything under the sun, factory reset, new roms, disable xposed, adding apps back one by one to find the cluprit (over 400!), paper in the sim tray to improve connection, everything!
The other day I had just freshly restored my phone from a Nandroid backup as I had noticed that when first restoring the phone would seem to remain problem free for a couple of days before I started getting the messages again. Well yesterday I was problem free until about 20 minutes after I first downloaded an application from the playstore following the reset. Then it hit me, all the other times the problem starting popping up again was always right after downloading all the of the application updates that piled up since my last backup. Initially I always thought that one of the application being updated was the problem (thus the adding of them one by one!) but in that moment I also realized that my Playstore app on the backup was the older version and would get updated when I made my first download. The problem must be with either The Play Store or Google Play Services! I used my trusty Rom Toolbox to go check the latest update for play services and, sure enough, play services had been updated maybe 5-10 minutes prior to the problem, probably receiving the prompt when I first tried to download something, or in the original cases, when I started the updates!
The Solution!
I froze Google Play Services as a test and low and behold, no pop up for over two days! But Google Play services is so engrained in our phones that suddenly my playstore didn't work, maps was acting wonky, and Google Now wasn't playing nice anymore. So I went back to Rom Toolbox and defrosted Play Service but turned off all location based intents, receivers, and services. Since then I'm almost 1 day error free and haven't seen any adverse effects in maps or navigation resulting in the disabled receivers, intents, or services. The answer seems to have something to do with Google Now's Location services which are constantly pinging your location. I haven't seen this fix recommended anywhere (and I've checked!) so hopefully this helps some of you out. I'd love to hear back about your results one way or the other.
Unfortunately for those of you who are not rooted, this fix does require root access and an root application manager that can manipulate receivers and intents. If you are not rooted you can try deleting the data from play services and removing updates. It may help temporarily but you may end up needing to do it regularly. You can also just disable play services all together if you can do with Google Apps.
Did anyone ever find a solid fix for this? I've been plagued with this problem and would really enjoy a solution.

Not an option, I don't have a warranty on the device seeing as it was purchased through a 3rd party. I am very tech savvy and have plenty of resources (tool wise) at my disposal. Just can't figure out what is going on here.

I bought it through a third party too. From a local cell phone shop. But it wasn't tampered with inside so they gladly fixed it. Of you want I can send you the log report of the fix and you can see what you need to fix in order to get it working again.

I've been getting the error for a couple of weeks on my stock AT&T GS4. I've had it since release from May 2013 so about 18 months old, and out of warranty. I just recently got the OTA update for 4.4.4 so I thought maybe it had something to do with that but looks like this has been an issue for a while, and not with just the GS4 (or just Samsung phones, but HTC and others also). So your solution made the most sense....something that is common on all the phones would be the Google Play services. After reading, I turned on the location services on my phone and it immediately got the SIM error. So after the reboot, I cleared the data for the Play services and am hoping this will take care of it. Pretty big issue if its caused by Googles apps/services.
Other solution I saw was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56806072&postcount=238
That is too involved for me to try out so I'm really hoping this Play Services thing will work. But the way he describes the issue is very similar to mine...seems to be the worst when I have the phone in my pocket walking around (although it does happen when the phone is just sitting there on the desk too). I've also noticed its a little better with wifi off.

Hope it works! I ended up getting the messages again anyways though I do find that whenever the message pops up, if I delete Play Services Data it seems to last a little while before the next message. I'm still not totally convinced that it's not a software problem, as you said, it's an issue that happens on a couple of devices though it does seem to be epidemic on the S4. I've since given up on my S4 and just got my OnePlus One today! Personally, I've given up on Samsung. I've been a diehard Samsung fan for many years but my experience with my S4 has totally soured me on them; it's a piece of crap! They're becoming everything I've ever hated about Apple. I'm jumping ship to OnePlus; same specs, half the price. Except the lack of an SD card which really bothers me... But not enough to pay 300 bucks for it!
solved by switching filesystem to f2fs
I have been experiencing 'sim card removed' problem for almost 5months but recently when i switched filesystem from ext4 to f2fs i have not encountered the problem anymore, counting, 3days.
Here's what i did. I just installed cyanogenmod 12 for s4 i9505 by AntaresOne and just followed all steps from the link below including switching from ext4 to f2fs using TWRP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2943934
Im sure that it has nothing to do with changing my rom from touchwiz4.4.2 to cyanogenmod 12[5.0.1 lollipop], which required wiping my data, cache and formatting my system, because i still encountered the problem with new the rom with the existing/default ext4 file system.
This is just pure observation, i cannot explain the mechanism with the use of f2fs in relation with sim card functionality. It has worked for me so far and the cyanogenmod12 in the link works really smooth. Please proceed with caution!
Just started getting this problem last week. Like the rest of the posters in this thread, I've tried a plethora of troubleshooting ideas to no avail. Pretty sure my phone is out of warranty but I will check...but the number of major and minor annoyances experienced with this phone and Samsung as a company ensure that I will never buy a Samsung phone again.
My i717 needed rebooted several times a day because of the SIM Card Removed error. After a few months, my charging port started going and ultimately broke. I've ordered two new ones, but they affect my cell reception, so I'm waiting on a third. Point is, after getting a battery wall charger and re-installing the old charging port board, the SIM Card error has stopped happening. Leads me to believe it has something to do with the charging port or the board it's connected to. Just my two cents.
Could you try liquidsmooth 3.2milestone. I had this issue as well but using this ROM i have no problems? Software vs hardware who knows!!

Hi,
Have same problem for while, and have tried many thing. In the end, I found that as long as I keep the NFL feature on. The phone seem to be OK. People try it out, hope it work out for you.
Ryan
I've had this issue since last year and posted in this thread back in November 2014 when it first started. Living with this for almost a year but it hasn't been too bad once I realized how it works. Basically every time I have to reboot the phone, the issue starts up. It'll last anywhere from a few days to a week or so but eventually it stops on its own. Those few days can be frustrating because it can literally reboot on you every couple of minutes at times. Obviously you have to reboot your phone every time you get the SIM error, but the trick is not to restart your phone otherwise because you never know which time it will finally be stable. I have gone months without rebooting my phone once I figured this out. Only time I reboot is when its forced because I can't get to a charger in time and the battery dies.
