Hello, ive had my samsung galaxy s plus for little over 2 months and its been frequently restarting 2-3 times every week. it doesnt happen for a specific app. once it restarted when i plugged it into my usb to connect to my pc. other times its just during apps - games twitter etc.
i want to know if anyone has solution to this and if anyone has had similar issues. my phone isnt rooted by the way.
replies are much appreciated
Well. I don't think there is a real solution for this, flashing XXKPS will solve the problem 100%. You are probably running 2.3.3 right? If you are then FLASH!
(Flash ROM > Install Feamod Recovery > Do whatever you want)
2.2.3 = cheap ass battery life and contains several bugs
Here you go mate, have a read here and update your Rom to newer one or even a custom one.

is it really hard to flash 1 file and root , install titanium and back up the apps u want , then flash whatever new rom u want to flash, root again , install titanium, restore ur apps, and unroot.

OK.. so here is my story. i got my phone about a month ago. rooted it. worked great. last week my phone froze so i had to pull the battery, ive dont that before, but this time when i tuned it on it took me thru setup wizard. my apps were gone and i have 0 bytes. every time i turn it off and turn it back on i have to go through the set up wizard. i looked online for ways to go back to stock, but they require i download an app. but i cant because i have 0 bytes. please i just want this thing unrooted and back to normal. PLEASE HELP
Theres a thread in the development section that addresses this issue. Search 0.00. Fyi imo voodoo is not worth the drama, stock file system roms ftw, kk?

i cant get it to work i downloaded odin but am having problems with it
Odin will not fix your problem, rooting is not your problem. Look in the development section on this forum and run the voodoo uninstaller(automatic) boot into stock android recovery 2e, and wipe data/cache after you run voodoo uninstaller.

but what is voodoo??
i never installed voodoo
and in odin... icant locate the pda file or i just dont have it. when i find a link to install it brings up a blank page
This may be a dumb suggestion, but is it possible your SD card is loose in its socket?
I just recently rooted my Evo 2.2 using unrevoked 3 and now when I try and delete system apps using the Titanium backup app then phone reboots. Can anyone tell me whats going on, am I really rooted?
im prettt sure this is normal. When I delete system apps my phone basically looks like its doing a hot restart. It doesn't shut all the way down it just kinda resets the system. The reason being, in order for those apps to not show up on your phone anymore it needs to be rebooted. If it doesn't reboot there basically still on the phone so like if u uninstall flash 10.1 and without rebooting try and install a hex edited version of flash, it won't install until the phone is reset or rebooted. So I think your ok. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks I appreciate it. I will give it a try.
I was the stock ROM with my epic rooted ( so i could use wifi hotspot). I got a notice saying 2.2 was finally available, clicked install now and my phone downloaded and then restarted. Then it said install failed and gave me the option to reboot now.
thoughts on how to get froyo working?
Bj
Supposedly , it might be because the root deleted thbe bloatware. I reinstalled all te bloatware ad tried themanual install and it failed. I think you have to remove root and reset phone to stock

If you used one click root, and it deleted the Asphalt Demo, give this a shot. Also take a look at richse's post. This will keep you from having to wipe off your phone completely.

Use Backup to gmail to save your phone log and sms. Use tb or my backup to save your files and data. Odin to eb13 (get .exe file from samsung, install on windows, find .tar file in folder) and do your restores. Restoring data across different firmware is sometimes eventful.

as Klownin says, it's probably the asphalt demo missing. Why they have it set to remove that app when it's known to cause issues in the future with updates is beyond me. Should be left there for the user to back it up and remove it much like all the other crap is left!
99.999% sure the missing demo is your issue, and it can be fixed
To be fair, having clockworkmod in the one-click also breaks updates. If the updates are going to be broken already, why not remove useless files?
Get the cwm flashable eb13 from this thread and flash it with clockworkmod. It will update you from di18->eb13. You don't need to reinstall asphalt. You won't lose your apps and settings.
Has anyone been able to root our new 4.6.4 software?
I guess its just trial and error .. I have done some googling and there is a promising program out there called GingerBreak, seems to work on the Samsung 2.3 devices pretty well, but hasnt been tested completely. I was wondering just to do some trials with software that is out there and see if any works .. just a little worried it may cause some damage ..
I have been meaning to try on my wife's phone. Will set aside time either today or tomorrow. Will let u know.

Same for aRoot, seems to work fine in the cmd window but titanium backup cant get root rights.
Okay here is a funny occurence and I cant explain it ...
I am using WhatsApp as many others of you. There, you can set the colours how your led is flashing for notifications. I have it set to Purple type colour which means that the red and blue led have to flash together for it to work. This is not a standard led colour on the Droid Pro, like the others (blue, green, red). For this to work, the phone has to be rooted. I know for a fact that the led wont flash if unrooted.. However, after I attempted aRoot, it now actually flashes Purple again... How is that possible .. ? Titanium Backup can not get root permissions ... seems the phone is almost "soft-rooted" by aRoot ... Any explanations folks?
Is Superuser installed? If it's not install it from the market and retry your Titanium Backup thing.
guys where could i download aRoot?
i want to unroot current 3.8.7 and update to lates 4.6.4

I've been meaning to ask (since it looks like TBH is the only way to get root)... does the Team Black Hat app wipe the phone so I have to reload apps and personal data? Or does it work like an update and keep all that intact?
Well it shouldn't wipe, but you might *need* to wipe to get things going nicely afterwards.
I honestly can't remember my experience, so maybe someone else has the answer.

Actually, custom LED colors do not require root. Check out LightFlow, etc.
Still waiting for root method so I can freeze all this crapware!

Rooted 3.8.7 with aRoot, did not wipe, installed pre-rooted Gingerbread with TBH, no apps nor data lost, everything working well.
can anyone share the link to the TBH application and let me know if you have to pay for it?
Google is your friend....
... and yes, you have to pay $3....

If you've already updated to 4.6.4 and root is important to you then just use the 3.8.7 sbf in the TBH app to downgrade back to froyo and then load the pre rooted 2 part install.
How do you install the 2 part rooted GB update from TBH?

I just rooted my Note 3 and I can't find a CWM Recovery for the AT&T version. I've seen ones for N900, but I doubt that it's for the AT&T variant.
And Is there a way to flash custom roms without a recovery like CWM?
No to all of the above. There is an AT&T specific forum for all AT&T related Dev but you'll notice no recoveries and no ROMs yet, only root methods for now.
Your phone has a locked bootloader. That's why..you don't have custom recovery..

Bingo. It's a bit different but as long as I can backup I don't care and TiBackup isn't the same and frankly I don't like it at all. There's always issues with titanium so I quit using it long ago.

I feel like they both have their place. TWRP/CWM image files only restore the whole system. That means you cant even restore the backup to a different model phone. (I use this between warranty replacements of the same make/model)
TWRP also lets me make a backup of the system "as it is"... so if an update is forced to me, I can always just restore a backup to get back to the last one. IT also covers me if I change a setting that screws things up. Especially with SafeStrap .... I can always keep myself running on a virtual partition and just back it up / restore that one to stock as necessary to bail myself out.
TiBu allows me to back up any single file or app, and restore it (AND ALL IT'S DATA) on any android phone what so ever. No reboots, no touching any other files. Sometimes that app isnt ready to work on that new model ... or sometimes system apps cant be restored ...... but otherwise, it is invaluable to get my setup onto the next/upgraded phone with as little setup as is necessary. IT also lets me save older versions of my apps and restore them as necessary. Plus incremental backups means even if my phone and sd card eat **** (lost the phone and not able to recover it), I will have my apps backed up on dropbox. All I need is a new physical Note3+sd card, 2 hours to restore everything, and I'm back in business
I am a paid user of both TWRP and TiBu for this reason
The downside of these apps? They both require you to root. That means you technically void the warranty on your phone. However, there are plenty of methods available to remove all traces .. so in the end, if you care enough to spend the time, you can transform this phone between stock/unrooted/normal/warranty in effect and modified/rooted/customized/warranty void. At will
