[Q] Cake Mania hacked to QVGA? Possible? - Touch CDMA General

Although shameful Cake Mania is fun! I have a HTC Touch Vouge with a QVGA screen. The game installs fine and runs but it's clearly ment for a higher resolution. Is there a easy was to tell the software to run at QVGA?

no mate thats a great site thanks loads

Why is the resolution less than the previous Diamond?

I have the Diamond, I am probably getting the Hero.
Diamond 2.8" . 480x640
Hero 3.2" 320x480
I think I'm missing something

Hero's screen looks m uch better though and has Teflon coating for scratch proof. Colors dont look washed out on the hero either.
What is the previous Diamond?

you are mistaken, the hero has a VGA screen, 480x640, 320x480 is QVGA and android 1.5 does not even support this resolution

You are wrong, the resolution is 320x480 as the original poster already mentioned. It is far from the high resolution experienced on the VGA Diamond. BTW, QVGA 240x320, as on the HTC Touch.
The Diamond is an older HTC touchscreen phone. HTC Touch Diamond.
So the hero's screen is not as high resolution as my Diamond? Really? I would expect it to be better ... hmm... I think I'll still make the leap though because this Diamond isnt that great.
Guys, this has been known since the release of Android 1.1 back on the G1.
The only resolution supported on any device prior to Android 1.6 was the HVGA resoultion that the Hero uses. As this was the only resolution the OS supported, the hardware is a HVGA screen.
Now, when Android 1.6 was released, it added support for many more resolutions, including the lower QVGA (which the tattoo uses), WVGA (800*480, which i believe the Nexus uses) and many more.
The Hero has a 320*480 HVGA screen because when it was released, that was the ONLY resolution that Android could render.
And no, the screen is hardware limited, so the resolution will not increase when the 2.1 update is released.
rhedgehog, you learn sumat new every day init :lol i knew post android 1.5 only supported a single res, but i was under the impression that was vga not hvga, thats why i assumed the hero had a vga res thanx for putting me straight
No probs.
I've lost count of the amount of stuff i have learned from this place. gotta admit i wouldn;t know probably even a tenth of the stuff i know if it wasn't for years of fiddling in the winmo forums and learning what you could actually do with these things.

I am on Modaco 1.3; it is stable and no issues for me...
I am considering going to Modaco 2.1, but might just wait for Android 2.1... Maybe in 2-3 months!!!!!
Some have used other ROMs, I have not tried....
You have to read up on them.. and see what you like the best for your needs.
MCR 3.1 seems plenty fast enough and stable enough for me....not had any issues since i went to that.
IMHO the difference in resolution from the Diamond is not a big deal. Plus the screen is taller on the Hero.
The Modaco ROM makes a huge difference, go for the 3.2 version when it comes out; currently the 3.2 beta is for paid members only.. but it is worth it... speed optimizations are amazing and you can cook your own components with the Modaco online kitchen.
I changed from TD to Hero, and much prefer the screen on the Hero. Yes the TD has a better definition in theory, but IMHO the screen was too small to take real advanatge of it.
the only way i could do anything accurately with the TD screen was by using the stylus. The larger capacitive screen on the Hero is designed for being used with a finger - in fact a stylus won't work on it.
I think the Hero is so much easier to use and that is due to a combination of the capacitive screen, the Android software and the sense ui that HTC installs onto the software. The only thing going for the iphone was its ease of use but I think my Hero beats it.

HTC hoping on hackers?

Just a stupid hair-brained theory but did anyone notice HTC decided to use a HVGA screen after MS said that WM7 would be on WVGA & HVGA.
Just seemed strange because as far as I know there hasn't been any HVGA HTC phones
Tbh, I've never even seen one including other brands lol, I'm sure there will be though.
Just becuase they could have used VGA, it has a bigger screen than the Diamond & that's VGA.
Sorry for this thread again in another forum

Sure, HTC have made HVGA devices.
The Dream (G1), Magic, Hero, and Legend all have HVGA screens.

I meant on Windows Mobile
The hardware in the photon isn't a snapdragon and MS has explicitly said that WP7 is currently only possible on snapdragons (driver concerns). So no, I don't think it will be possible to put WP7 on it.
I agree it's an interesting choice, but until we know if WP7 can run on devices under 1Ghz, we won't know if that's why they did it.
Otherwise though, why downgrade from VGA? I suppose so they could share panels with the Android devices which are mostly HVGA.
..................
Screen resolution has no impact on capacitive sensing resolution; the sensing resolution of capacitive screens is far coarser than 320x480.

Brew® Mobile Platform -> HTC Touch HD

Hello folks.
Brew® Mobile Platform?
Can we have the Brew Platform on htc hd?
The Brew® Mobile Platform is a HTC developed platform and runs on HTC Smart. (I think so, may I take wrong, but only to correct me if I'm wrong)
HTC Smart have: 300 MHz
ROM: 256 MB
RAM: 256 MB
HTC Touch HD have: Qualcomm® MSM 7201A™ 528 MHz
ROM: 512 MB
RAM: 288 MB
So, to get Brew on HD we have to transfer it to the htc hd, should be easy with the idea of specs, or what?
it has less ram, space, and processor power than htc hd. Windows Mobile 6.5 does not seem to want to be as fast as it is on htc HD2. so why try when we were fighting against 1GHz, when we can create something new to htc hd a mobile with 300 mhz.
I really want to have it on the htc hd, although I have not tried BREW. but it is always okay with something new, and perhaps it would be cool to have it on the htc hd. but even if the screen is smaller should not stop us. we have managed to get android on the hd, and htc HD2 has a bigger screen, and we've got it on the htc hd. or what?

:/
Comon, some chef that want to make a ROM with BREW for us?
The problem is.... what applications could you install on it? If it is not WM and not android.... then what apps? That would be a downfall, although I agree that it would be interesting to see how well Brew would work on the HD.

Huge compatible list of Java applications is available.
Opera works, and SO? dont need 1000 apps, but a stable, new, cool rom that is like Sense on androide. but, yeah, i see what u mean, and u also have right.
but try will not hurt?
uooo !!
its new operating system ????

i dont know if it new, but HTC says that when the mobile come to the marked it will open a app store for BREW OS with SENSE UI. so, many apps will come from HTC.

a tast of how it its.
Qualcomm Brew
Qualcomm - BREW
But is possible to port it to HTC HD? make a ROM for it?
the screen looks small so i think it isnt wvga
if it isnt wvga it has to be ported:-O
QVGA
2.8-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with QVGA resolution, qvga, will it work? cant we port it anyway? pls.

but i think that the brew is not only build for qvga, it will maby work ? for wvga
It would be quite cool indeed to have an OS that's better looking than Sense and Manilla AND runs on slower hardware than our Blackstone.
As far as I've seen the HTC Smart has a couple of hardwarebuttons that the Blackstone doesn't have.
Let's see if there is a chef that can use his/her magic to port this OS to the blackstone.
That would be friggen amazing
yeah, i think that same, but hd 2 have som other buttons than HD. and we have maked a rom, so, comon some chef, make a rom
now this threat stood still, we have to get it on the legs and port it for HD. or give me some real answers if i t will work or not, and explain why.
some chef that can use his/her magic to port this OS to the blackstone. a beta ROM for blackstone.. ?
too many drawbacks I think.
Porting = not easy and takes a hell of a lot time, including rewriting drivers.
Apps = nearly no Brew® apps available. Apps like navigation software or w/e. Java may be an option but big software companies that create lets say Navigation software, are not willing to write yet another piece of software. We already have Nokia (Symbian), Microsofts (WinMo), Apples (IOS4), Googles (Andriod), Blackberry's (whatever its called)...
Don't think this Brew platform will succeed.
Though, it would be a cool thing to have a lighter ROM on the blackstone...
I dont know why anyone would want to port BREW off and flash else where, its so limiting.
I'm after doing the reverse, wiping BREW from the HTC Smart (Rome) and flashing Android on, but it seems not possible...?
ok, all i taking about apps, what if some people dont care about apps, also, windows mobile dont have so many apps at this time, if people was after apps, they would have a iPhone, not a HTC HD. if u understand, i only want my mobile to be FAST, and a better looking underface. interface, u call it!.
the win 6.1 is so lala with apps that i dont care. Right?

New Gameloft Games like NOVA, HAWX and etc

How come these games dont fit the screen, is there any way to make them work on my G1?
Hi
Sorry to bum you out but those games are for high res and high gpu phones........Our phones are low res and do not have that great of a gpu............That would be cool if they did though
I think they're designed for larger
Screens like the Droid or nexus one...
Assassins creed "iphone port" didn't fit the screen of my HTC hero....but works flawlessly on my HTC desire that's from gameloft also

Same problems with HTC Hero. Its not like the screen resolution is that much smaller. Its too bad there isn't an option to adjust screen resolution to play the game or even install a driver that would allow for HD games to be played.
The real issue is the aspect ratio. They're created for WVGA and FWVGA screens which are wider than the HVGA screens in our devices. If the screens were the same 'shape' just lower resolution they would look fine.
but still the games won't run well you WILL experience lag and stuttering since the games are designed for a higher end device, not much we could do there, but there are still games just newly released that works well with what we have. Good luck
