Got my SGS yesterday running pre-installed Gingerbread 2.3.3 JVH and flashed voodoo lagfix kernel for gingerbread.
Is there a way for the phone to come up with autocorrect suggestions but not to automatically complete them for me? It autocorrects email addresses and passwords too
I have tried messing around with keyboard settings but didn't help
I would like to know that a well. I think there is an option to remove autocorrect and still get the tips. If I find out I'll let you know
Phone: samsung galaxy SII
Rom: checkrom revohd v4
Kernel: Syiah 2.6.35.14
long press on microphone in the android's keyboard, go down and you will see "autocorrect" or something similar, here you can customize it
I'm running a MIUI rom, but i think the keyboard is gingerbread's stock keyboard... there are 2 options: "show suggestions" and "autocomplete", try turning autocomplete off
I tried that already, all the options seem broken besides the one to completely turn off auto-correct

I'm running the BlueMagic MK.II ROM and love it. I don't really care for the HTC_IME, so I pulled the LatinIME from a different ROM and enabled it.
It works fine if I don't use autocompletion, but with autocomplete enabled, it FC's immediately when trying to show the list of words.
Does anyone know of a way to enable this? Is there another APK I'm missing?
TIA!
I noticed that on CM7, (SD card install via installer), the keyboard is
silent on touch. I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard on my Incredible
and it has a nice sound response to touch. Is there a setting to make
the keyboard sound like the Froyo app Gingerbread keyboard
when touched? The visuals are the same.
Thanks
Turn on "sound on keyboard" in Settings > language and keyboard settings > android keyboard. Should click on touch!
thanks .....
I've just moved to stock XXJVR and am a Launcher Pro user.
I have selected Launcher Pro as the default action for the Home button which works fine until I long press Home to bring up the Recent dialog. After the Recent dialog has been shown the next time I press the Home button I am again prompted as to which launcher I want to use.
I have checked the "Launch by default" settings for Launcher pro and it is initially registered and is cleared after the long press of home.
This seems to be a new bug with JVR that wasn't an issue on JVQ. Interestingly I have seen this issue also on the Galaxy S ii so it is perhaps a new Samsung 'feature'.
Does anyone have any decent workaround for this other than doing an uninstall of TwLauncher?
Thanks!
I'm on JVR too running launcher pro and I do not have this problem so it's definitely not ROM related. I did have the same issue though in the past, it vanished by itself moving on to new updates and firmwares.

Nope, no problem here. Using stock JVR and Go-Launcher EX
I'm having this same problem, very frustrating!
Bug was present on JVS (Simplicity ROM and Stock) and also most recently it is still present in JVT (Stock).
Not THAT big of a deal, just really annoying! BTW it happens with any launcher I try, launcher pro, go launcher ex, etc.
Any solution is greatly appreciated!
Glad to hear itis not just me.
I ended up uninstalling the twlauncher application using titanium backup. This hasn't caused any problems since.
Nice one, didnt want to do it previously, but it solved the problem! Never used TW before anyway. Thanks.
Hi guys.
I flashed RR v7 on my note (so ICS).
Maybe I have got a hidden setting I didn't know the existence before.
If I put in edit mode the app drawer to manage my apps in folders, when I open or close the folders there's a synthetic voice telling "folder opened, folder closed" plus something else....
Am I wrong? Any suggestion? I want to get rid of that. Only doing this operation I hear that. Really annoying. I did not check anything in voice settings...
Thanks.
Check System Setting > Accessibility for a Voice Over feature. Turn everything off in that menu, might be it.
Thx mate. Already checked and everything is off. In my opinion is due to the custom ROM I have. In fact it is the only place of the entire phone where I have such voice "help". There must be some hidden recall to voice function active on that. Quite annoying but I can survive.
Thanks for your reply.

I had this 'bug' using the new galaxy s3 launcher. I've reverted back to stock launcher before i found the cause of it.
Hope this leads you in the right direction

Mate, you are right.
I changed the default s3 touchwiz with the classic one and the "bug disappeared".
So it is related to the new touchwiz itself.
Thanks so much to have given to me the right tip.
Cheers!
You mean feature lol

Feature? Yes if it would be a thing I can choose..
Not this case...
I had a similar problem but was triggered by my 'Iphone Notifications' app, it looks like apps enable under 'Settings/Accessibility/Services' can trigger this wierd behaviour in touchwiz, i disable iphone notifications and the 'Folder Opened' voice goes away, I enable it and it comes back.
If you disable any Text to speech (TTS) apps installed, usually have a Google one and a Samsung one installed in Stock ROMS, the problem should disappear. Its a well documented problem with Google Talkback.

Hi.
Creator of iPhone Notifications here.
Here is a fix to your issue :
http://www.productigeeky.com/faq/#1
This is a bug in Samsung's software, their dev team has reported to us that they have found the bug and made a fix and it will be released in the next update.
Thanks for your interest for our apps.
I have been flashing almost every incremental update from Jamal. It has been a great experience to see the improvements from every update. After flashing to the supposedly last final update before 4.3.1, I found that so far there are 2 features missing.
1. Call settings is no where to be found... I vaguely remember it was there before the update. Call forwarding is not possible through settings...
2. The ability to switch keyboards through the keyboard icon on the left side of notification bar is gone. before the update, I was able to switch to the standard Google Keyboard from the SwiftKey Keyboard. it is no longer possible now...
Can anyone confirm this?

Call setting should be there
Go to dialer / there there should be dotted line or setting that will have all features

No worries, found it on the menu option in the dialer
I wonder if the original GPE ROM is the same...
But there's still no way for me to change from SwiftKey Keyboard to others without going into the Language and Input menu...
Other than that, Jamal's finaly ROM is near perfect :good:
