I noticed that on CM7, (SD card install via installer), the keyboard is
silent on touch. I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard on my Incredible
and it has a nice sound response to touch. Is there a setting to make
the keyboard sound like the Froyo app Gingerbread keyboard
when touched? The visuals are the same.
Thanks
Turn on "sound on keyboard" in Settings > language and keyboard settings > android keyboard. Should click on touch!
thanks .....

Hello,
I can't stop the vibration while typing numbers on keypad even though the haptic feedback is turned off .Is there a way to stop keypad vibration on Legend? Thanks..
no one having this problem?
I'm using modaco r1 and it does the same...not sure if it's not a feature...

this will disable all keyboard-typing vibrations, not sure if it is what you want:
Settings->Language & Keyboard->[select your keyboard, default is probably Touch Input]->Text input->uncheck "vibrate when typing"

Yeaah, no that's not it. You'll notice even if this is disabled, the numeric keypad for phone dialing still vibrates...or at least on the MoDaCo r1 ROM
Problem: I can't use physical keyboard In my SMS prog (go sms), instead the shortcuts come up:
b - browser
s - sms program
e - email
g - gmail
etc.....
When did this start happening:
1. I updated from cm7 RC1 to RC2
2. Flashed Vivid theme from Sonny (Think thats what his name is)
Usually, if I restart the phone, the keys will work, but after a couple hours, it'll go back to shortcuts. Is there a way to disable shortcuts entirely, I never use them? Any advice how to fix my prob?
This happened to me as well, all you have to do is apply shortcuts to the quickkeys at the bottom of the hardware keyboard and you're set

Should be stated that this can be done via CM Settings > Input > Quick key 1/2/3
Clearing all of the shortcuts fixes the problem for me
Settings > Applications > Quick Launch > LONG PRESS to clear
^^Actually, this is the best thing to do.

This happened to me today as well. I think it's CM 7 rc2 related bug.

THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!
I was ready to throw my phone out da window... on screen keyboard not quite for me yet, predictive txt is annoying and keys are small... but thanks again all, I can go back to my keyboard!!!
Got my SGS yesterday running pre-installed Gingerbread 2.3.3 JVH and flashed voodoo lagfix kernel for gingerbread.
Is there a way for the phone to come up with autocorrect suggestions but not to automatically complete them for me? It autocorrects email addresses and passwords too
I have tried messing around with keyboard settings but didn't help
I would like to know that a well. I think there is an option to remove autocorrect and still get the tips. If I find out I'll let you know
Phone: samsung galaxy SII
Rom: checkrom revohd v4
Kernel: Syiah 2.6.35.14
long press on microphone in the android's keyboard, go down and you will see "autocorrect" or something similar, here you can customize it
I'm running a MIUI rom, but i think the keyboard is gingerbread's stock keyboard... there are 2 options: "show suggestions" and "autocomplete", try turning autocomplete off
I tried that already, all the options seem broken besides the one to completely turn off auto-correct

How do you stop the keyboard click sounds? I've gone to Settings...Sounds and disabled "Touch Sounds" but I still get clicks when I type of the keyboard
???
Try to disable "sound on key-press" in the Android Keyboard Settings! For me it works
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1
Poster above has it right.
Settings>Language and Inputs.
Look for the "Settings" icon next to "Android Keyboard" (probably selected as "Default")
De-select "Sound on Keypress"
Thanks - that did the trick!
Glad to hear it!
So I just updated to 4.3. I've found the updated camera app, the autodialer feature, but the new Emoji keyboard/feature is nowhere to be found. Anyone else having this issue--can anyone using a Nexus 4 with build JWR66V confirm they have an Emoji keyboard? I've found "Emoji for English words" in the Addon Dictionary section but it doesn't bring up any interface with spacebar. I hold down the spacebar after installing the emoji addon dictionary and all i get is "choose input method" with no emoji keyboard on it.

No because if you searched a little more you'd know you have to go to keyboard/input and enable emoji keyboard...

I've been in "Language and input" and there are three keyboards available-- Google Keyboard, Google voice typing, and my Switfkey app. Thats it.
I don't have 4.3 yet, but I assume all you do is settings on default keyboard and install emoji add on dictionary. And then just holding down space bar will bring it up.

You have to go to
Settings --> Language & Input --> than enable iWnn IME keyboard. Under Google Keyboard settings go to 'Advanced Settings' than enable 'Switch to other input methods'. Than all yyou need to do is hit the Earth icon on the keyboard to switch to the emoji keyboard.

I had originally disabled the iWnn IME keyboard. Once I re-enabled it, I discovered the keyboard. Sneaky of google to add it there. Anyway, thank you, problem solved.
