So, I have a Kindle Fire running CM7 with TWRP and firefirefire. I noticed a dead pixel on my screen, and since I'm still within my return period, I'd like to just restore my Kindle to stock so I can return it. I feel like I could flash Amazon's 6.2.1 update in recovery since it appears to have all the necessary files in it, but I'd like confirmation before I try. Thanks in advance.

I'm Restoring my Kindle and want to restore the Stock Rom. I can see lots of updates but no stock Roms.
Can anyone point me to where I can Download the Stock 6.2.1 Or 6.2.2 ROM. I presume I need a rooted one.
Thanks
If you really want totally stock, get it from Amazon. Change the extension to .ZIP and voila.

Otherwise if you want a pre-rooted one, get the MoDaCo one.
if you use the amazon rom you loose fff, twrp and root !
btw. please post such questions in the general section

At least right now in the Kindle Fire forum, every ROM is complete other than the one that says "update only" in the thread title. I hope it stays this way. And it is true what was posted after me; installing the one from Amazon will wipe your boot loader/recovery and replace them with Amazon's stock.

Cool thanx for the reply and I agree this should be in general but I saw this and felt better asking here than starting a new thread on it.

My KF is rooted, running MIUI and still at 6.2.1 I would like to keep abreast of future ICS mods. Do I need to take the update for any reason?
If I do, how do I get 6.2.2?
Thanks for any help in advance.

I was under the impression that MIUI was a Rom that you flash to replace whatever rom you were currently running. If so, you would no longer be using 6.2.1 as that is the Kindle Fire Stock rom which you replaced with MIUI...

Your impression is correct.
Thank you both. That clears that up for me.
I'm reading conflicting things on the forums. Also, does the latest kindle fire utility work with 6.2.2? Thanks in advance.

yes - recovery has nothing to do with the "os"
Thank you

I have TWRP myself, but I did not use Kindle Fire Utility to install it.
Out of curiosity, how did you install it?
try installing twrp with kfu 0.9.1
I had problems with latest version 0.9.3.
I used Kfu v0.9.1 and everything went fine, try it, it's really easy to use.
KFU is super easy to use and very straight-forward. I was rooting and installing a custom Rom in no time.
The new KFU (0.9.3) worked well with rooting 2 of my 6.2.2's and installing TWRP from within. Now I have to see if the KFU can get one of them out of a stuck kf logo
I've searched alittle and can't seem to find what i am looking for. I bought a kindle fire that was rooted it has twrp and cyangenmod on it...I am new to this stuff so beg my pardon if I don't know what I am talking about. Is there a way I can restore the kindle to what it came with from the factory. So it is a stock kindle again. can some one please direct me in which way to go.
Try this thread. If you follow the directions you should be able to get back to stock.

Looks like I got hit by OTA despite firewall. Anybody have luck with 10.2.4 or cm10/aokp on kf2?
Can be rooted, but locked bootloader prevents installing custom ROMs or recoveries. We need a good dev.

Clarke33,
You got hit with 10.2.4? The file must have been dropped before we moved the otacerts.zip bummer.
Did you loose root or are you OK? You probably can re-root on your own if you had to, don't you
think? If not, I will be around tomorrow.

Clarke33,
Then you know, we had no issues Rooting Software 10.2.4.
Thank you for the clarification.
To everyone, there are no issues Rooting the Kindle Fire 2 10.2.4
Just follow our guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069117
So far Amazon has not patched the known ICS Exploit.
