[Solved] Really showing my noobiness - Kindle Fire General

My KF is rooted, running MIUI and still at 6.2.1 I would like to keep abreast of future ICS mods. Do I need to take the update for any reason?
If I do, how do I get 6.2.2?
Thanks for any help in advance.
BBC0

I was under the impression that MIUI was a Rom that you flash to replace whatever rom you were currently running. If so, you would no longer be using 6.2.1 as that is the Kindle Fire Stock rom which you replaced with MIUI...

Your impression is correct.

Thank you both. That clears that up for me.

Full (not OTA) Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2

No one seems to show GEN2 any love. Its all GEN1 and CUS7. For those that want GEN2 (I live in US), well here you are. A full image for Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2. This is not edited in any way. (This means not rooted). This is probably not going to be useful to the average person. For a modified (but rooted) ROM of this, look here
This is not OTA and can be used without ClockWorkMod (CWM) or any modifications of any kind.
Unzip Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2.zip and place update.zip on the root of your SD card.
I should also mention this is Honeycomb 3.2 for those that don't keep track of the build numbers (and who can blame you?), and this DOES have a locked bootloader. But, nevertheless, and valid source for flashing and other things!

thank you so very much for this. Where did you get it? as soon as i get it downloaded Im going to add it to dropbox and post the link here if that is ok with you.
Here is a dropbox link to the file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26368270/Android/tablet/Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2.zip
Where does anyone get anything? Google, where else?
Do whatever you want with the file. If you search the web log enough you'll find it, too.
Hi. I have a question....is it rooted? I would hate to update it and lose root. Thanks. Excuse the question, Im fairly new to the Acer scene (1 week).

This is not rooted, it is also bootloader locked. I do not recommend this for you. Try another rom that is 3.2, there are plenty now!
Ty, been waiting for a GEN2 to add to my collection.
Thanks for the heads up. Im running Honeyvillain 1.2 but Im curious about the GEN2, as Im in the US as well. I dont know what the differences are, but so far its working smooth, smoother than any other ROM out there.

Yea I wouldn't worry 2 much about GEN2. If you have a choice, get GEN2. Otherwise it doesnt matter. The differences are mostly system files related to keyboards and databases and such from what I have dissected.
Like spelling color as colour and other oddities.
That and different bloatware, not all the same as the US

Thanks, it's nice to have one thread where one can find the proper stock ROM for their tab. He had no COM2 HC 3.2 ROMs on the list.

The reason I asked where you got it, is because I have been searching since friday for this. I have been searching google for every keyword I could think of.

thank you so much. you posting this got my tab unbricked. it was saying boot verified failed at the acer logo, i stupidly tried to downgrade from 3.2. i used this and the stock recovery and it booted. i tried with every stock rom on the forum, but couldnt get the decrypter to work, finally your post saved me having to ship it to acer in texas.

Vache has a downgrade image to Acer_A501_1.309.02_COM_GEN1 that will work with the new locked bootloader. Root that image then install CWM THEN install a custom rom. That will prevent the boot verification issue!

Thank you for this info. As soon as I get my replacement, I will do this if needed and install your 3.2 rom. I love having root, but want a 3.2 rom that is not from an a501 constantly asking me to install sim card.

That problem can be solved by adding the line "ro.carrier=wifi-only" in the buildprop (you can do this with es file explorer or root explorer) and reboot.
sorry mis post wrong thread

I live in the us and while I have rooted my a500 I haven't installed a custom rom yet because the few stock roms are gen1. I want to stay as close to stock as possible and would love to have this 7.006.01_com_gen2 with just root and and bootloader fixed. I thought your "clean" rom might work for me but I'd prefer to have just the stock rom with few modifications. Any idea where I might find something like that?

Iconia A500 3.2 update - Bee with Exclamation sign above.
Im running the update and when the device reboots and as it progresses a honeycomb bee with a triangular sign with an Exclamation mark in it appears...
The installation does not progress any further and i have no idea what to do. I can reset my system but it says update fails and continues on 3.1.
Any ideas/thought/suggestions?

If you care about root and having CWM installed I would not update to stock 3.2 using OTA. Just grab one of the 3.2 updates in the development thread so you can retain root. But if just want plain stock 3.2 and you have CWM installed, you need to revert back to the stock recovery first otherwise it will fail.

Same problem wihout root. Any suggestions what the problem could be?
im thinking if it's because you have a rooted device? I had the same thing. But do not ever update to 3.2 OTA. I would recommend a stock rooted 3.2 in the Development thread. Easy flash. Flying rom.

Although this is an old thread, I think other solutions for those who were not rooted were to make sure you have an sdcard entered... I think....

Just to be clear. You installed a ROM that was made for the GTab, and not made for the A500, or you installed a custom ROM for the A500 based off of the GTab?
I own an A500 but I installed a custom Rom based off the GTab

Question about returning Kindle to stock (Completely)

So, I have a Kindle Fire running CM7 with TWRP and firefirefire. I noticed a dead pixel on my screen, and since I'm still within my return period, I'd like to just restore my Kindle to stock so I can return it. I feel like I could flash Amazon's 6.2.1 update in recovery since it appears to have all the necessary files in it, but I'd like confirmation before I try. Thanks in advance.
Search. There are already topics on this.

[ROM] Kindle Fire Stock Rom Wanted

I'm Restoring my Kindle and want to restore the Stock Rom. I can see lots of updates but no stock Roms.
Can anyone point me to where I can Download the Stock 6.2.1 Or 6.2.2 ROM. I presume I need a rooted one.
Thanks
If you really want totally stock, get it from Amazon. Change the extension to .ZIP and voila.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200790620
Otherwise if you want a pre-rooted one, get the MoDaCo one.
if you use the amazon rom you loose fff, twrp and root !
btw. please post such questions in the general section

At least right now in the Kindle Fire forum, every ROM is complete other than the one that says "update only" in the thread title. I hope it stays this way. And it is true what was posted after me; installing the one from Amazon will wipe your boot loader/recovery and replace them with Amazon's stock.

Seriously, look a few posts right underneath yours......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646865
Your "unroot" is to install a stock rom. Have to get that bootloader back to stock, and there's only 1 easy way to do it.
Well, there are other methods, but install a stock rom is the easiest. Of course you get the standard "disclaimer"... doing this at your own risk, etc, etc.....

Just load one of civatos ics roms
I'm running flexreaper ICS rom and HBO GO works...sorta.. It is optimized for ICS phones, not tablets. You have to get the apk and install it manually. Launch the app, you'll get an error that it is not supported, press the home key. Open any other app (calculator, calendar, whatever) back out of it and switch back to the HBO app, should work after that.
