Legend's maxim overclocked frequency? - Legend General

can anyone tell me the maxim frequency when legend can still be stable ?

It depends from legend to legend. Mine is stable too 806mhz. Just push it up step after step and when you have your first force close or reset (use apps like opera or igo) you know your limit.

It's maximum not maxim ;d maxim is my name
And it depends, My phone will not run stable on all overclock frequencys so you will have to test
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App

Can we mess something up doing this? I mean is this safe way to test the limit?

No. Just go step after step

Thanks for your reply. I find opera is really a good app for the test case of stability.

sorry fo mention your name..
but it's pity for your cpu's quality, too bad with no over clock at all.

Overclocking Max?

Hey, I recently received a second legend and so am going to push one of them to the limit, I am currently running at 844mhz no problem, and completely stable. I was wondering what the highest possible frequency is? Can I try to reach 1ghz or is that not possible?
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Dumfuq's V4 will let you go to 864. In that thread there's a 960 tester too. Let us know!
Any chance of a link for that?
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
So IV got to 960, its starting to jitter but still stable, Ish lol its super fast though
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Nice
I'd advise leaving it at 864 though.
You Sir are one lucky b**tard. No offence. I cannot go past 768.
None taken I'm running nightly cm 25 if it helps at all...
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
I Use the latest cyanogenmod 7 stable and my legend is running @ 825mhz for 2months no problemo but 864 is a no-go for me.. it instantly reboots when i select 864
did you test the 1ghz?
When rising the overclocking, is it advisable to slowly bring your legend up to speed if you want to go over 800k?

OverClock...!!!

Now we have root on ARC, its high time we overclock it...
SetCpu doesn't work...
Can someone provide a comprehensive tutorial on overclocking and benchmarking ARC...???
First you need a custom kernel
and search..there's already a thread for this.
Sent from The Arc!
And also setcpu does work

With "setCPU works" they just mean it works. you can't go above 1Ghz that's how it is for now.
Please, edit the tittle.

That's because you don't know how setCPU works apparently
It works perfectly, setCPU allow you to modify the frequency of the processor within the range allowed by the kernel.
So once again, we need a custom kernel that modifies the voltage and frequencies allowed for setCPU to go higher than 1Ghz.
Just curious why do you wan't to overclock the phone, is it to slow?
What will happen if you overclock:
- higher battery drain
- Phone gets really hot
- it makes the cpu unstable
I never overclocked my phones and even the hero still runs fast.

yup guys setcpu is working in our Arc in terms of 'battery saving' for now
overclocking is for later (or sooner i hope)
The MSM8255 can be overclocked to 1.8GHz on the Desire HD. I'll try to make an overclock kernel this week, but it's definately more work than I thought.

Yes you are right the maximum is 1024 cant go any further i didn't know that he meant to go above 1024
before open such threads you should know about overclocking, of course setcpu wont enable overclock with stock kernel, why should it???
Speed is something which we always want more .. If we get Dual Core with 1.2Ghz still we need to over to push the limit. That's human nature ....
I have got overclocked Xperia Neo and when it was on 1.8 ghz it was 1. stable 2. cold 3. and really fast! but when you start to play somethink yes then it is really hot and it drain a battery too much I think oc is good.

Yes you can use Tegrak Overclock (Ultimate) from the market, works on stock kernels
But be very carefull with your voltages, you are warned!
Do you maybe have good settings for the program?
is it possible to underclock to?
Can i leave the voltage standart and only set the cpu to 1.5 or 1.6
Thank you

You might want to look in the kernel threads (FM kernel, Abyss, etc) in development, there is enough info concerning your question, and yes you can underclock with tegrak.
With tegrak you can use any cpu speed you want, is not fixed to a few settings.

One useful thing to do is underclock and undervolt. This phone works perfectl in 1.0ghz with -50 voltage on all clocks and a maximum of 500mnz with screen off, and itll save u a lot of battery.

My PC is a 2.66Ghz which has been running at 4.0Ghz since day 1. Like I said, if more power is available at no risk, and absolutely no extra cost, then the question isn't why, the question is WHY NOT?

Overclocking

Is there such thing as a safe overclock speed? Will my phone blow up for running it at 1.2 on a daily basis? (I searched for this topic but couldn't find anything specific to the glacier)
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
The cpu in this phone overclocks well. 1.2 definitely won't hurt it. I've known people who ran everyday at 1.5.
I have an excellent cable internet service, with wireless. As such, I don't notice a real difference when I'm on WiFi. I wouldn't want to overclock anymore than 1.2 to 1.4

I'm just referring to the overall speed and performance of the handset. I haven't noticed any better performance with my phone being overclocked...isn't that the purpose of overclocking, to increase speed & performance? If not I am misunderstanding the purpose of overclocking?
I was just saying that with browsing and overall usage on my WiFi connection its hard to notice any changes whether I'm running at 1 GHz or 1.5 GHz ....
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium
Overclocking doesn't speed up internet service though. It just speeds up scrolling through pages, windows, opening applications and overall performance within the applications and device.
I would get SetCPU, then you probably are fine up to 1.4 ghz. I really can't recommend pushing it higher because there isn't a noticable performance increase. I use SetCPU and i am clocked at around 122Mhz-1.3Ghz with a screen off profile of 122-768Mhz and a temperature profile of 32C> 122Mhz-1.0Ghz.
I know, a lot to take in but i get really good battery life with that stuff. If you get SetCPU, experiment.
Also, here are the take away messages.
1. USE SETCPU, ITS AWESOME
2.DON'T PUSH IT TO 2GHZ. YOU WILL FRY YOUR MOTHERBOARD
---If i have help, well you know the button to push---

I have been running at 1.2 for a year now and no problems whatsoever. Actually, what I have found has helped performance was to set the minimum CPU a little higher. It allows for a little less lag while your CPU is "spinning up." (I mean at 230, not at 500 or something)
1.2 is a very stable Overclock. You shouldn't run into any problems with that setting. Anything above 1.5 I wouldn't mess with, and you probably wouldn't see much of a real world speed increase from it anyway.

Don't forget to install setcpu after flashing the rom. My recommendations:
Min 200mhz max 600 for great battery life but slow phone
Min 200 or 300mhz max 800 for average performance
Min 300mhz max 1ghz for good performance and so-so battery life
My phone works stable even on 1.1 and 1.2 ghz but then I get big battery drain.
Another tip: default phone dialer is very slow/laggy. I use exDialer from playstore instead

Battery will drain faster, phone will be warmer. Some CPU's can't handle 1GHz so your phone may lag and you will have to change to a non-oc kernel.
