I cant help but feel that they are. With projects being abandoned left and right, I feel as if the domino effect is starting to take place. Devs are getting "bored" therefore us end users start jumping ship also. Then more devs leave etc etc. Feels like that process has begun. I, like many have put my phone up on craigslist in hopes of getting something better with a more active community around it. I do not want to sound ungrateful to the dev s that we do have. They have made my phone what I love today. But I can't help but feel like even the remaining ones have lost passion and drive for this phone.
I can't help but feel that the escalating high school drama over the past few weeks due to little or no moderation has been the tipping point for devs to leave and move on. I can only hope that someone high enough puts a plug in the dam before its too late and it all comes crashing down and no amount of money or resources can synthetically create the magic we already have now. Here is hoping.

I kind of expected this. I love this phone, but if I really have to, I will trade it. I hope that CM7 is finished for the Vibrant, then everything would be fine.
Sent from Vibrant with CM7.
It could seem that way, but lets be real here for a minute.
There are a few devs who decided to stop working on the vibrant. More specifically , decided to stop posting their work here on XDA. Mostly because of the drama that starts in here and the lack of appreciation that is given to them for their "FREE" work.
But, and here's my main point, there are still MANY devs who have never spoken about leaving and are continuing to bring us great mods and roms. We have entire teams of devs like Team Whiskey and Eienharjar Developement Team who still continue to work on great things for our phones. Not to mention people who make mods consistantly. Supercurio, Morphic, etc etc.
It's just a few people who decided it's not fun anymore and are moving on. It doesn't mean the END ALL BE ALL of Vibrant development. I think we should stop dwelling on the drama of a few people who on their own decided to leave and still support those that are STILL here to help us.
Technology moves fast. Newer things come out and some people just get bored fast and get tired of the mudslinging.
Be appreciative to the devs and supporters that are still here, still making things, and still helping us with our questions. Android is an OPEN SOURCE PROJECT. People come... people go. But don't get caught up in the politics of some. Support those that stay. But don't forget those that left a huge impact on Android and this modding community.
I love Android. I love the community, and understand I have to deal with some disrespectful kids/noobs/adults.
Thank you to all who stick around and help us out, and good luck to those who went on to better or more phone projects.

Unless CM7 is near final and it can be used as a stable base, then we will be stuck with the same roms probably as all are based on Samsung's source. The reason the G2 has such large development is due to the large amounts of stable roms, MIUI, CM, and a a stock rom( which we do have).
And with the leaving of Eugene, the Vibrant is basically starting to sink. Those new to these forums may not remember, but he has contributed many stable roms in the past and greatly contributed to the startup on development. We will miss you Eugene!
A galaxy s merger was what I proposed in the previous forums where some international and US developers may contribute to each other's work in a seperate forum dedicated to devs.
don't forget that eugene was the one who made I9000 roms to be perfectly port to vibrant. He said hw will be posting his one final rom in the future.

Yup. Development may seem to be slowing but lets not forget that we have an whole other i9000 dev forum to choose ROMs from. Especially while they are mostly 2.2.1 ROMs. That'll prolly change (at least for a while) once all the i9000 devs abandon 2.2.1 for gingerbread.
Not every phone will have the lifespan of the g1, hd2, etc... But one can hope lol.
Even the Nexus One development is slowing down with only small updates to previous roms. Guess even their devs are moving.
Lucky me that I have a hd2.
Was considering getting one of those Hd2 for all the development around it but I can't help but feel like it would be a step down.

I feel like that this is what we are lacking now. Eugene was a master and helped and had a hand in over half the roms on this forum. He was able to solve alot of problems that no one else can/could. I feel like without someone of this caliber spearheading the way, its almost impossible to keep development going strong and not baby steps.

Not everyone feels the need to upgrade every 6 months to a year, especially when the new dual cores don't provide a huge difference than the hummingbird chip + voodoo in daily use (maybe 3 second gain in web browsing). With android 2.2.1, the galaxy s touchwiz launcher and browser use gpu acceleration, so it will be just as smooth (if you don't believe me use a live wallpaper on the twlauncher, then use it on launcherpro).
However, tegra 2 will set the new standard, so our power sgx 540 will do just fine for the next year (comparable performances).

Yes to an extent. There are alot of phones that are years old and still have development. I understand that they probably are not samsung and probably have all of the source code. But to me, it seems that this phone has not even reached the pinnacle of what it can do. Alot of roms (bionix exempt) are still trying to just get everything working a 100%. Having a phone really becomes a ton of fun when the development gets past just making it all work. It's really a shame if this will never be possible because of samsungs code.

Being that the vibrant was a high end phone when it was released, it still stands up to alot of the newer phones. To leave this phone behind just because it's getting "old" (less than a year is old for cell phone nowadays = bull****), is stupid.
Maybe devs should spend some time porting the Nexus S APIs so as to provide a good base for future roms.
And in the end, I have to admit that if you want fast updates, go Windows Phone, or IOS if you are really desperate.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I've seen us lose basically two significant development projects.
Meanwhile we retain several equivalent kernel devs, multiple ongoing rom development projects, progress on CM7, and a slowly building flood of ports from the i9000 dev community.
Furthermore we're finally to a point where this is less about stamping out annoyances with Samsung's lackluster tuning and poor choices, and more about customization and the tailoring of experiences.
i.e. there's less to be ecstatic about, but only because things are no longer fundamentally broken and because development has matured.
My take is that these are good and evolutionary developments. You also have to remember that developers cater to their own whims as much as ours, and it's entirely normal for them to "move on". This is what happens when a community is dynamic and HEALTHY.
I've been on the net longer than most here have been alive, and trolls will always be trolls. If you're expecting the high school drama and angst to vanish entirely in a constantly churning public forum such as this you have unrealistic expectations.
All is well!
Thats a different way of looking at it master, interesting.
While I somewhat agree with this thread, I'd say give the other devs some time, like maybe a month and see what they come up with, we might get a Gingerbread port or a leak from GS4G. Team Whiskey and EDT will surely come up with something I believe.
Also, I don't understand the craze about HD2, it was a great phone in its time, now if you want ROMS and active dev section, probably better to get Nexus S or wait for Optimus 3D I am sure it'll be sold like hot cakes when it comes out.

I have had my slide for a very long time now. I feel like development is coming to a crawl. CM7 will never have flash integration even though we keep getting upgraded versions of android. The CM7 forum is floaded with issues the last time I peeked. Gotta love those guys for giving us hope and their time. The Alpharev 2 looks super promising kinda wish chiefreloadz and other dev's would take a peek at it to give us life. I am at a point where getting a new phone is inevitable. Wish I could setup a poll via my slide to see how many people feel the same way. How many of you feel the same or disagree with me.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I feel the same way too. The slide really is a powerful device. I'm really upset it died so quickly.
Yeaaa and I'm especially dissapointed w/ the lack of custom kernels. I see so many devices w/ a wide variety of custom kernels (new and old phones), but this one only has 2 (dumfuq and miguel). I root other peoples phones and do overclocking and such, and I c all these kernels to choose from, while this device only has 2 kernels, even lower end devices have more kernels than this..

The slow of progress in the Slide has driven me to new levels in the android world. I have made many sad attempts at creating my own Roms from source...as well as several successful attempts at modifying a ROM to fit my needs...as well as creating batch files to do most of the the work for me when it comes to nightlies, but nothing original. I am sad to to see this phone in the state it is since this is the second phone I've had of the android family. (I've hacked many others for the purpose of profit) I still use and maintain several G1s...which re-enforces my dismay over the staleness of this device. My next buy is a G2x (LG Optimus 2x). I could wait for the 3D line in the next year but my boredom has eclipsed my interest 10 fold. I plan on passing this phone on to my wife when she gets home from active duty in South Korea. So all is not lost. I know this doesn't even belong in this sub-topic of the forum but I thought it worth sharing my opinion on.
Well in my attempt of waiting for several things to happen I just went online and pre-ordered my WIFI Motorola Xoom. I am very excited hoping this will not have me thinking about my slide that often awaiting the next best thing. I also have a Nokia Maemo phone which the firmware will be updated to Meego by the end of April so its a matter of waiting I guess. Well hopefully this thread will bring things back to life if not then I would like to say goodbye to my slide by the end of the year and get myself a new phone with more power yada yada. lol. Anways...
can someone send me miguel's kernel?
or tell me where I can find it?
i can't get my hands on it...
As for the HTC Slide. I just upgraded from my Motorola Cliq a few weeks ago.
It's definitely a big hardware boost, but the dev support is certainly less.

Actually they removed that thread a long time ago,the only way to get it is to get it from someone who has it.
As for the slide I still have mine and it's running strong. It's a nice little phone and I don't think support for it will fade entirely for a while, there's just not much else that needs to be done to improve it thanks to cyanogen.

looks like the admins did a great job of wiping him off the face of xda
I actually posted a comment similar to this thread in the Gingersense thread. But yes I feel as if upgrading handsets will be the only way to get that "new phone" feeling I had got when first flashing cm6 and cm7 .
Edit: also this phone has yet to reach a year in age.(june or July)
And as far as flashplayer, its not the roms that don't support it but the UI. Sense UI was flash lite compatible but only armv7 processors are full flash capable.

Im sure most know, but maybe not the original poster, that this is not the place for this. Yes, you are talking about devs and roms and what-not, but this has nothing to add to the development community.
Yes, the slide does lack devs unfortunately. It is very sad that many devs did not take an interest in this device early on and those that did lost interest. I personally dont get it since i love this device. But the last thing to do is to complain about all that and just leave it at that. One of you said you tried to tinker with roms. Great! Thats what we need. We need people to get off their asses and take initiative. Lack of devs led me to attempt the port gingersense. I do not call myself a dev since i know 0 code and simply just know a few tricks, but at least i try. I would like to see more people start tinkering. If you love your slide, keep it alive. If you think you dont have the time, thats on you. I personally have a full time carreer which has crazy hours and a nearly full term pregnant wife (which means i have to do nearly everything around the house).
If you read this all, thx, i hope this sticks with someone.
Oh yeah, and admin plz move to appropriate section XD

I agree with most of what's been said. There really isn't much else we can do with the slide. With everything that's available to us, we have it, and that's about it. Since no one likes the mid-range of the slide and they all want the high-end awesomeness of the newer phones, the slide has few people to share their roms and themes.
I've had my slide since the very start of the slide era, and it is great with CM7 it does everything you want from a daily phone. I feel like I want something more tho, everything seems outdated with all of the new software and apps out there, we can't use them because of the slides hardware. Sad that's it's only been a year since it came out and it's outdated..tho I suppose launching the Galaxy S right after the slide launch just made it seem outdated weeks after.
As soon as I'm available for an upgrade in April I will be switching to a new phone; which I think most of us, who just want something more, are doing.
I got my slide on June 4th 2010, the day it was available for customers. I have loved my slide since. I learned soooo much about the Android OS and its capabilities since owning my Slide. I absolutely love it and want to hang onto it for as long as possible. It does everything I need it to do and it does it fast. Doesn't Cyanogens wife have a slide? I would think he would continue devving for it until his wife switches phones. Just a thought
It is endlessly amusing to me that someone would rather buy a phone out right simply because development has stopped....
You know the point was for YOU to get involved... right?
Listen I agree this is probably not the place for this but its a great place to voice my opinion to dev's which there is a huge shortage for this phone (this is my sole opinion). I have learned a ton from my slide. My first android phone was a maemo phone with a rigged android version on it. That made me want to get the slide because of android. I apologize if I offended people but just voicing my opinion on a topic that has been an ongoing discussion for many of us slide users.
Each day when I come here, I see a big slow down on the developing and updating of roms for the Evo4G. I know allot of the developers and members have gone on to the Evo 3D, but there is still a large number of us that aren't totally sold on the 3D yet. And like in my case it is NOT from being able to afford the 3D cause the price is not the issue. I just think allot of members are being left with a slim choice of roms anymore and the choice is getting slimmer. Thank you 3D!

Really? If it is worth crying over why don't you start developing for your phone? These devs do this for fun and free. They don't owe you anything or have to develop on the basis that there is still a large user base. You are not entitled to anything.
Leaning the kitchen is definitely the way to go. That way you can take the best of what you like, and it in.
Much more satisfying too.

1. dude lets face it the evo 4g is now free at many places like target mobile..
2. The Evo 4g while a good phone is now end of life as it has been replaced... Its the way it goes.... We are lucky that the phone was not replaced after about 3 to 6 months. We got a year of updates.... from htc and sprint....
3. why dont you just go and get the evo 3d like i am in november for me...
4. why dont you just root and place some sort of evo 3d rom on your phone... granted it will be slow because of having to use the transflash card for everything.... since you need atleast a 2gb partition on it as ext3
You have definitely taken this wrong. And I have NEVER said the devs.owe us anything. Just making an observation. So don't try to inject things into my words that I am not stating.

IMO, I love HTC, but the hardware changes aren't worth me wasting my upgrade right now. I'll just wait for Fiscal Q1 2012 when everything will have major changes.
for example:
http://phandroid.com/2011/02/16/nvidia-quad-core-android-tablet-codenamed-kal-el-video/
that's a major hardware change from everything else. That would make me upgrade no problem....
I'm not saying from eVo to 3vO isn't an upgrade, just not enough for me
Man I can definitely see everyone does not read this correctly. It was just made as an observation and that was it. As for getting a 3D like I said the cost is nothing, as if and when I decide to get a 3D I will be purchasing more than one. My issue is Performance wise and I have tested it side by side at Sprint with my phone running virus's B1.3 rom. And even the tech I know there said outside of the 3D pics and videos, the processor just a hair bigger, and the increase in memory there really was not a significant difference in the performance. As he even stated that the rom I am using runs and makes transitions just as smooth as the 3D.
So I think I will just hold off til something with some more significant changes in software and hardware comes out before I use my upgrades or money on.
"Hell I don't know anymore"
I think the bottom line is a combination of factors.
The devs have done 2.1 and 2.2 pretty much to death.
AOSP, Sense 3.0, and GB are more intriguing to more and more people, but there is a lack of source code.
There are other higher-profile projects for devs, including rooting 2.3 and, yes, rooting and developing for the 3D.
But I agree with the other suggestions that you look into cooking your own ROMs, or maybe get into app development. That's what I'm doing, but it's also just for fun. Be creative. Just make a nandroid first.
Progress is a *****. Get over it.

I want to believe this is true but I think it's all speculation for quad cores coming to phones when dual cores are barely being introduced to some phones...Evo 3D being one of them. I agree though, I'm waiting until an ice cream sandwich phone (from someone other than Samsung) comes out..or a phone with higher specs to come out before I even consider getting a new phone.
I can see your comment is a suggestion as to your IQ gumbo. It really is surprising when people take observations you make as "crying" then post highly intellectural comments like "get over it" . ROFLMAO you make me laugh.

Once the kernel source is released we will see more development. Other than the original android phone the "G1" the EVO has seen major development over other phones and continues to do so. The EVO has had quit a run in my opinion. How many other phones get a update after a year of service? Not many. Once we see a non 3d version of the dual core I personally will be upgrading. For now I believe the shift ports are giving the EVO one more run.

I see it the same as SilverZero. It's not the Evo 3D or any other new sexy phone that's slowing ROM development. It's simply that Froyo's been done and still no source code for Gingerbread. So, things are slow. That said, I still see a lot of port successes (and failures) in Development and incremental tweaks on existing GB roms.
What would you like to see?
OP, just flash Synergy Rom and call it a day. It's the smoothed, zippiest Rom I have ever flashed. There's no denying it. With Synergy Rom on my EVO 4G, it's absolutely keeping me from getting the EVO 3D. It's that good.
I'm gonna hold off on upgrading for a little while at least three to six months to see what else is gonna become available.

Folks don't take me wrong, the 3D is an advancement and the developers here are top notch and so are a majority of the members. I have made and will continue to make donations to this site and the devs both in support and financially. I just know there are allot of folks still going to keep their evo's for awhile more and would hate to see the loss of further rom developing for our devices. If I had the knowledge and time to get into developing I would for the community. But I don't. As running a business and being part of several organizations for handicapped children takes up most of my time besides my own family. I apologize if this thread has been tasken by some in the wrong context.

+1 on Synergy, & I'm waiting for whenever the WiThin drops before I even think of making any decision to get rid of my EVO. I even still have my Epic sitting unactivated. Decisions decisions LOL

just sign it ,i know most custom roms have this, but its will be nice for unrooted devices(like mine) to have this,
edit : my dhd is rooted now
thanks a lot

No thanks, just say no to SENSE you know it makes sense
While I like sense as much as the next Guy, you have to understand that with the fast pace that mobile tech is advancing your phone you bought 4 months ago might not have the needed hardware to run said app. Sure they could release it but then you would be like "it is laggy, its slows my phone to a crawl". Not taking into consideration that the app was made for better hardware. Never buy a phone based on updates you hope to get. You will never be happy. As I see more and more new to the smartphone world I see this same thing alot. It is something the older users are use to. Your phone is obsolete five min before you buy it. So make sure it fits your needs for the time being.
Although i'm running sense 3 on my DHD I have signed it, HTC should of done this really, the DHD is still fairly new

Absolutely! You should be happy with what you get instead of sad because of stuff you dont get A wise man once told that.
But 1 year of update service is not too much to ask and the DesireHD is perfectly capable of running Sense3.0 smoothly. Custom Roms prove that. I'm pretty sure though that Sense 3 will come eventually and i better wait a little longer for a bug free and stable release than something rushed just because everyone is crying for it.
Should "of", "potention"? I'm a little worried you guys even spelled your own name correctly.

Wow... do you guys make petitions for everythig now?
The bootloader petition was ok and really needed.
But this gets annoying now. Htc didn't even say that they will release GB for the DHD. It was a nice move from them so be happy with what you get.
It's he same like creating a petition against your parents becaus you get too few pocket money.
Whats next? 3D and a screen size-up to 5" for our DHD?
Sent out of my Free Candy Van.
U ought to be slapped. That was the dumbest thing you could say. Sense 3.0 and software upgrades, are possible. But 5" screen and 3d? Slap yourself

every one : common it was just a suggestion if u agree with it sign it ,if u don't agree don't,
what i meant to say is htc or any other manufacturers should support their devices, and respect their customer, its not about just making new things that makes the customer buy the new device, that what i mean
i used to have x10,and for god sake sony ericsson was awful in supporting,we had android 1.6 when most other ware running foryo,
i know now it will release gb but after a year of delaying ....
and about making petitions for every thing, why not,if u want something u should go for it
and @ pwraggcan ,common u know that most of the people here made mistakes cause they just write fast, maybe u should be a language teacher
sorry if i bothered anyone ,but thats it
There's already a groubal petition here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143294

These days, I'm seeing lots of supposed teams tossing zillions of ROMs that are no real improvement. I think I have tried 1 out 2 and I stopped the flashing game after I realized they are almost the same dog with a different collar.
Am I the only one? Is our Vibrant a stalled device in terms of REAL development? Come on, boys, less theming and more real improving!!
You're kidding, right?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm not kidding. Can you name a ROM that is not CM7 that is making real improvements like proper GPS with sensors and no path-sliding in Gingerbread, improved battery, no problems entering deep sleep and being fast?
Any ROM GB ROM that doesn't not suck, lasting less than 15 hours with moderate use?
You wanna go beg samsung to release source? Wait. Dont. By the way you type, you seem like a genius that can build us a source!
JMN... everyone jumped ship and started working on Gingerbread... without anything specific for our phone. I guess you could say we are stalled in that regard. Nobody wants 2.2.... and the 2.3.+ roms are missing a lot of the key things needed for what you seek. It is what it is.
Go pester T-Mobile and Samsung, not XDA/community/developers.
I do.
If it were as easy as you make it seem, I am sure our Vibrant would have a 100% working CM7 right now. Problem is, it isn't. We don't have any source code for Gingerbread, our GPS is from a half-baked file for the Galaxy S 4G, and Samsung decided to use several proprietary loops inside their source code that make the code counter-intuitive. As a result, our developers basically have to reverse engineer a good portion of the code itself.
Or you are more than welcome to start working on it yourself. Seems as up until JVQ dropped on I9000 I was the only one actually doing anything (with of course a couple other good people dropping in from time to time). From April until now we went from a build that was barely usable for more than a couple hours to builds that are definite daily drivers. Granted there are still some flaws but with less than a handful of people do any real developing on what free time we do have and for no incentive other than the thank you button and occasional donation I'd say we're doing pretty damn good.
In the words of someone famous you're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem. Which are you going be?
EDIT: My statement above is putting CM7/MIUI aside, different animal/problems/features/pluses/minuses.

I dunno man, I found a ROM that does everything that you listed. What you're asking is a lot of development time for marginal improvements.

So what do you gotta say now bro?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
its not that easy to build a rom thats so great people build on xda some can be slightly better than others but hey thats why u get updates, if ur looking for good battery life on gb use an i9000 port like simplyhoney and u wont be mad about the battery life on the other hand i use cm7 and have been on it ever since nightlies started being released i will tell u it came a long way from no gps and battery drain to a half working gps which is still functional to decent battery life and i am grateful for all the hard work but into it
Funny seems like JMN went silent!
I think he got served!

Biting the hands that feed... smh
OK, OK.
Please, forgive me for my anger being unleashed. Maybe it was that I see newer devices having a plethora of updates and improvements, or maybe because with my previous device (HTC Polaris running Windows Mobile 6) there was a man (XDA member know as DZO) that reverse engineered it, driver by driver to make a fully fledged Android device.
I ask you for your understanding, and hope you pardon me. You're right: the real problem here is that T-Mobile and Samsung abandoned the Vibrant to its own luck.
Lots of devs jumped ships because of that. I don't make them guilty about this situation, although I did in my first post. Sorry about that.
I'm a dev myself, but not so low level. I cannot compile drivers or reverse engineer. Otherwise, I would really like to collaborate with Atinm and the others.
Please, don't abandon or blame the Vibrant and other Galaxy S devices and try to squeeze all the juice out of it. If we all switch to the latest device, manufacturers will always laugh at us selling slightly different hardware, not upgrades for our totally capable devices.
Nothing more to add. Sorry for my rough and disrespectful words I wrote before. Long live XDA-Devs.
My fellows, I went to the T-Mobile USA facebook site (http://www.facebook.com/TMobile) and published this on their wall:
"SHAME ON YOU, T-MOBILE! Where is Gingerbread for the T-Mobile VIBRANT???? Do you ever care about your users? Do you think we will eat every phone you release with no questions and wishing NO SUPPORT? We do buy devices with future in mind. A ONE-year-device has been ditched away because you are too busy selling the so called 4G version. Too obvious you're playing with us, playing the "buy me and forget me" game. Sorry, but never again to you, T-Mobile, or whatever you will be called after the merger."
I hope you could support me or write comments criticizing the way T-Mobile is acting upon us.
Thanks.
I just re-posted your message on T-Mobiles Facebook site. Not too sure where yours went. Maybe they deleted it.
Thanks a lot, dude. They have the site configured so you cannot see the posts that users write on the wall until you explicitly reveal them using the "Most recent" option (link http://www.facebook.com/TMobile?sk=wall&filter=1). It's there, I think. We need to cry out loud.
I absolutely approve of telling T-Mobile we are tired of waiting.....
Gingerbread = Security.
I posted this on their facebook, all we can do is hope one day they get the point.
"T-mobile, you have a very loyal customer base that bought one of 2010's best smartphones, the Samsung Vibrant. However, with the release of the Samsung Vibrant 4g, we have been left in the dark and seemingly ignored regarding security updates and notifications, specifically the gingerbread 2.3 update. We buy devices with the future in mind, and expect to have full support for the devices we spend our hard earned money on. We know that Samsung awaits your instruction to push the updates, and we respectfully request you do so immediately, in order to be up to date on stability, security, and support. This situation has bothered and frustrated many in the Vibrant community, we only ask that you extinguish that fire by providing us the update we deserve and earned, by being your customers."
people will never learn...
they cannot support devices forever. it seems like every single person thinks that once they buy a smartphone, they are guaranteed lifetime support. the cell phone industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. i would much rather them cut off my support and have a beast upgrade waiting for me, rather than them focus on constantly rolling out updates for every single device theyve ever created just to shut up *****y consumers. think about it, getting stuck with an outdated device makes it all that much better once you get your upgrade! its amazing im saying this, as i despise corporate america.
i realize the vibrant is just over a year removed, BUT THIS HAPPENS WITH EVERY SINGLE DEVICE. i guarantee if you go to ANY other forum for a device that is 1+ years old, 95% of them will be filled with threads like this. update this, update that, fix this, release this blahblahiwantmybottleblahblah. its not JUST tmobile. its not JUST samsung. these accusations are so narrow-minded. what would happen if they released gingerbread??? two months later, the cry babies would be right back in full swing, "wheres honeycomb?? release honeycomb source!!" it has to end somewhere, you can never satisfy everybody, let alone ANYBODY in the vibrant forum.
its the industry. its the way it works, so stop acting like we are the only ones who are "suffering". its such an ignorant, narcissistic way of looking at it. enjoy what you got, nothings ever built to last. youre "stuck" with a damn good device, it is what you make it. weekly threads begging for gingerbread, or ****ting on tmobile/samsung is clearly not getting it done. so maybe people should be spending their time differently instead of constantly *****ing: get familiar with linux, learn to compile/decompile, learn to theme...its amazing how much fun (yes, without source!) youll be able to have once you learn some stuff. keep yourself busy creating new things, youll take more pride in your device knowing its something that YOU created, as opposed to trolling around and downloading anything you can get your sticky fingers on.
gingerbread isnt here....but neither is the end of the world.

To be honest, support for the Vibrant has been pretty much nonexistent from T-Mobile, I don't think it's too much to ask for a GB ROM from them and Samsung, had T-Mobile been into providing us service instead of trying to sell out we could have had a beter chance at some real support.
