Hello all,
first to all who will say I must read the forum for problem solving - I did but from all the info out there it was simply too much. So I decided to start a thread in the hope that somebody will be able to help me.
So I have a corrupted nv_data.bin in my /efs folder but I still have backup of this file. But only this file.... I know - totaly dumb... I installed new JPX and after trying to change the product code from KOR to MOT (Slovenia) I accidentaly deleted nv_data.bin. I of course tried to replace it thru Astro Mate (I did had rooted phone - Darky's 6.0 was working fine ) but everytime I tried copiing this file tt didn't copy actualy - It said copied but the old file remained there - I know this because the Productcode didn't change. So I deleted the file thinking that this will help and tried to copy again. To my bad luck it didn't. I tried to copy and everytime a new file was created instead. also renaming a bakup file in this folder was not succesfule - it said Fald to rename file nv_data.bak. Since then my SIM card is not recognized and when I check what Baseband version I have it it written Unknown. So I tried even with ADB Shell, use busybox and when I eneter cp /sdcard/nv_data.bin /efs it says Now enough free space??? So I don't know anymore what to do. Does somebody have an idea what I can try to solve this? Please please please? I will donate to the one who helps me saving my SGS.
Thanks,
Borut
Hi !
This is because the file is used by the system.
Safest method:
- Reboot into recovery (make sure you have root in recovery)
- do what do need to do in recovery
- Reboot in normal state
In recovery phone / baseband / RIL are not started.
so you mean when I boot in recovery i can copy the file using adb shell? Or how do you mean I can do what I must do?
I have done it before while the phone is on, but you have to enter flight mode, set the correct owner and rights and reboot afterwards.
Well, regarding ownership and stuff like that - I'm a tootal noob
Help please NV_Data.BIN
I know this isn't the place to post this but I have been trying since yesterday afternoon can't figure out where I should post it to I keep getting an error that due to spam I can't post to certain areas without having 10 posts.
Please help -
I am not sure what to do now. I changed the rom on my phone to put 2.2 on it a while back. I never saved any of the files because I was not aware to. Now I am trying to go back to stock already used the one click Odin program and I have the original stock firmware on it. But when I try to update via kies mini it will not show up. I have searched And found multiple postings related to the fact that the product id and imei could be incorrect and you would need the original nv_data.bin file. I have searched through windows explorer on the phone but can't seem to locate one. Is there any way that I can get a copy of the original folder for /efs/nv_data.bin and any other files that are needed?
I have the Samsung Captivate on AT&T currently running 2.1
BaseBand: I897UCJF6
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number: ECLAIR
You need to check your IMEI matches your original .
You have stock rom stock as in not the network supplied firmware that came with the phone ..
Windows explore is no good you need something like root explorer .#
I can get a copy of the original folder for /efs/nv_data.bin and any other files that are needed? Not unless you saved them they are phone specific .
Worth doing a factory reset before you make any step as that may solve your problem .

how do I check the original imei? I didn't backup the files as I was not advised to in the information I found online at the time (couple months back). I have done a factory reset via the phone (privacy settings) a couple times now and still when I plug into kies it tells me Unregistered device.
This is very simple to fix if you have nv_data.bak in the EFS folder.
If that file is present then you can safely delete nv_data.bin and reboot the phone.
A new nv_data.bin will be generated.
how do i know if I have nv_data.bak? where on the phone would I find it and how?

It should be in the efs folder (unless you've done something to delete it). As said by JJEgan, you will need root explorer. Navigate to it in the efs folder and copy it to the external sd card and then keep it safe somewhere.
how do I check the original imei?
Its on the box and or with the receipt .

You've got a PM >
Remember, you CANNOT install the stock Roms from within the recovery.
To install a stock ROM, all you have to do is:
- Create a folder on the SD card named "dload"
- Get the contents (usually 2 big files) of the stock Rom archive and place them on the "dload" folder.
- Switch off the phone and press Vol+, Vol- and Power.
The stock Rom installation is automatic and you don't have to do anything during installation.
oh ok, good to know.
problem solved already tried to install older version of miui. the new version was messing with my phone nothing worked with it.
thanks anyway saving this for the future <3 !

I would advise against resizing the partitions, as it's difficult to restore them in case you need the phone for warranty.
I've sent you a PM with some info, let me know if you need more.
link to the ROM on www.narod.ru. Type digit code, press "скачать", and have a link.
original post here.
If you have Android 2.2 on your phone:
1. Download the archive;
2. Create in the root of SD-card folder "dload";
3. Write to the new folder, all files from step1/dload (UPDATE.APP and UPDATE_g.APP);
4. Insert a memory card into the phone (if not already inserted) and pull out the battery;
5. Turn on the phone, holding down the volume up and down;
6. Once the firmware is installed, delete the folder dload all the files and write files from step2/dload;
7. Repeat the procedure for the folder step3/dload.
If you have Android 2.3 on your phone:
1. Download the archive;
2. Delete a file UPDATE.APP from folder step1/dload;
3. Rename a file UPDATE_g.APP to UPDATE.APP;
4. Create in the root of SD-card folder "dload";
5. Write to the new folder the renamed file UPDATE.APP from a folder step1/dload;
6. Insert a memory card into the phone (if not already inserted) and pull out the battery;
7. Turn on the phone, holding down the volume up and down;
8. Once the firmware is installed, delete the folder dload all the files and write files from step2/dload;
9. Repeat the procedure for the folder step3/dload.
* If any of the processes will not start - log-in and run the installation manual settings-memory-upgrade software.
* If some of the processes of updating the device hanging - wait 10 minutes then remove the battery. After 10 seconds, reinsert.
On my phone firmware write good. First run language is english, and you must manually configure APN.
any fixes???
Hi,
thank you very much for sharing this great news.
Anyway I would like to know if this new firmware is fixing the sdcard mount problem, the multitouch bug and the accelerometer.
Another thing: can you enter in pink screen mode with this new base-rom?

Unfortunately I no have information about any fixes.
Most likely, it`s the last firmware on 2.3, no more updates. OTA is not expected - install manually. About the ICS no any information yet.
First personal experience - a better camera and battery life. Still testing.

Thank you for the quick answer!
Since you are able to enter in pink screen mode, can you upload the original/stock boot.img?
I just extracted the rom from UPDATE_g.APP but I can only manage the system.img and the only way to extract the boot.img is the pink screen.
Thank you in advance!

This is a clear original ROM, no patch or root. I make standard root procedure, it's work.

B552 = B540 + Pink Screen Mode, nothing more
Ok, thank you always, but I flashed the update and copied the boot.img file through the pink screen.
The ROM has FPS limit and the compass mode in Google Maps Street View doesn't work, maybe with a reboot the compass mode will work fine.
The external sdcard is not correctly mounted after a full shutdown, so the bug persists still now.
The multitouch bug after the lockscreen is also in life...
Then I have a question: what did Huawei do on this new B552 base?
The only thing I see like a "news" is Google Music, nothing more.
I have a conclusion:
B552 = B540 + pink screen
Regards,

downloading it now
tomorrow i will extract the zip and i will update to this stock firmware.
then i will copy the boot.img on my pc, i will extract the system.img from updata_g.app and i will cook the new version of my Countach
Hi Matteo,
yes, I did the same procedure, you can extract only system.img with dsixda kitchen, if you want boot.img you need to install with the dload folder procedure the original firmware and then put your U8800 Pro in pink screen mode.
If you trust in me, you can take my boot.img, it's the same of the original one but I only added root permission and init.d run-script.
Hoping to help, this is the file for you and other people:

Standard root:
1. Go to pink screen.
2. Replace original boot.img with patched, save original.
3. Reboot, wait when phone fully load .
4. Go to pink screen again and recover original boot.img, reboot.
5. When phone load wipe factory settings.
6. Done, your phone rooted.
For me it's work without problem.

pure
on SD card make directory named "dload"
copy the UPDATE_g.APP into (approx 370 MB)
rename the UPDATE_g.APP to UPDATE.APP
update via SD card update (no pinkscreen), but if you want, use pinkscreen, it is the same
immediately after first reboot, pull out the battery, insert the batt. go to pinkscreen, delete the ****ty cust.img, reboot and continue with installation.
you will get pure gingerbread without any customizations (yes, there is the huawei launcher and beyond the sky theme, i like it)
for root, oc, use geno´s boot.img, for HDR edit the build.prop
if you like huawei´s boot animation, copy it to system/media folder (files bootanimation.zip and bootanimationex.zip)
step 2 and step 3 is not needed
Missed call problem exist? When someone want's to call he heards that you are unavailable/not on network or the phone is turned off.

You should be able to extract the boot and system images from Google's factory image.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam
I wasn't aware that the kitchen worked with the Nexus 4 as its still listed as one of the unsupported devices but the thread hasn't been updated since October of last year so maybe that changed.
this is copied from dsixda's kitchen thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 post #3):
How do I import a ROM into the kitchen to use as my base?
(The instructions below are for HTC devices in general. For other devices, please visit the appropriate thread.)
From a shipped ROM:
First, find the shipped ROM for your device, usually from htc.com or from searching xda-developers (check the Wiki or sticky posts under your device's sub-forum).
This link may help: Various devices
Please don't ask me for links, as I don't know everything or own all devices.
The shipped ROM can be found in three different formats. Identify the type you have downloaded:
If the shipped ROM is in a .ZIP format, then simply copy it to the kitchen's original_update folder.
OR if the shipped ROM consists of system.img and boot.img files, then copy those two files to the kitchen's original_update folder. If the ROM also includes a lib.img (found in some newer HTC ROMs), then copy that as well!
OR if the shipped ROM is in an .EXE format, then do the following:
In Windows, run the shipped ROM's .EXE file till it gets to the first dialog. Stop there but don't close the window yet.
Go to Start->Run and type: %TEMP%
When the folder opens, search for Rom.zip (use the "magnifying glass" Search button)
Copy Rom.zip to your kitchen's original_update folder
OR from a cooked/custom ROM:
Copy the update.zip (or equivalent ZIP file) to your kitchen's original_update folder
OR from a Nandroid backup (under /sdcard/nandroid) [NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NON-STOCK ROM BACKUPS]:
Copy the system.img and boot.img files from the backup folder to your kitchen's original_update folder
Hm, i see. But the problem with the dev links for Google is that it's 4.2.2 and not 4.2.1... I would like to stay to an older version for the moment, with those problems with bootloaders, kernels etc... I will try with system and boot img, thanks !
Sent from my Blade S using xda app-developers app
Well, i tried to use the tutorial about shipped rom, but my system.img and boot.img files aren't recognized by the kitchen... So i don't know how to do Halp ?
In this thread you have posted link to factory image with android 4.2.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
Great !! Thanks a lot eskeyy !
