G2X - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My wife is having her phone replaced and they offered her to choose from the Sidekick 4G or the G2X. She chose the G2X. How does it compare to the Mytouch 4G?

Well hardware wise the G2x is better than the MT4G in every aspect except for the lower RAM, but that's not a problem as the G2x doesn't run Sense ROM's.
Only disadvantages I can think of from the G2x compared to the MT4G is that MIUI isn't as stable on the G2x. Also, if your wife enjoys Sense then that'd be a problem of course as only HTC phones can run Sense.

g2x is my fave still right next to the galaxy s 2

in no way shape or form does the g2x compair to the mt4g. i have had all three of those phones (current mt4g) and i still regret the day i traded my first mt4g. trust me with how bad lg is for support and how many issues the g2x has it is not a good phone at all. no support whatsoever. yes it is fast but it has so many fc's its not worth it. if your wife wants a phone that she can OC and get a high quadrant standard than yes go with the g2x but i can assure you it will never live up to an htc.

Completely opinion. I like the G2x more than the MT4g because it has better hardware, a nicer screen, and I think it feels much better. It does have quite a few issues so OP don't be surprised if you need to exchange it a couple times but eventually it should work fine. I've already done my rant on HTC devices so I don't really want to type it all out, just stick with the g2x and you'll be fine.

That's pretty much been my exact experience. The G2X screen is quite a bit nicer, and it does feel a bit snappier overall, but the MT4G is no slouch, and a better phone overall; it's much, much, much more reliable than the G2X.

I have both phones I prefer my g2x the screen on the mytouch bothers me kind of washy color and running games side by side no comparison. And try a couple roms I have had the same g2x since April

Everyone that is complaining about the mt4g screen please go look up on you tube mt4g screen compairson. I personally have had one of the crappy screens and my current mt4g with the sony superior screen and it is much nicer than the old one. I can see it from every angel and the glare is greatly reduced.
Not trying to cause fights here, just want to make everyone aware of the difference.
Also I would much rather have single core with 750 mbs of ram rather than dual core with 512.

And op you will have problems with the g2x and since this phone is for your wife, I doubt your or her will want to deal with these issues. I can assure you, it will need to be sent back at least once so if you do go with it, expect for your wife to be phoneless for at least a few weeks.

I had to go through 5 MT4G's to finally get the good screen and good eMMC. But then of course after time button started to get creaky and the touch screen started to have that infamous lag that a lot are having.
Traded it for a G2x and am still on the 1st G2x and absolutely no problems.
I loved the MT4G and always will, if you get a perfect one you'll be happy with it.
I know the G2x has had it's problems, but it seems as if the newer batch has been good to most people.
But if you take a perfect MT4G vs a perfect G2x, then I think it's little to no contest. G2x has better hardware from processor, screen, and all the way down to the speaker quality especially paired with a voodoo sound kernel.
And, the extra RAM on the MT4G is only useful if you run Sense. Other than that 512mb's on the G2x is plenty enough for running CM7 and such.
Again, I love and have owned both phones. I just like the G2x a little bit more. But to each his own.

[Q] how is it, g2 owners?

Hey guys!!!
I'm just wondering what you all think of the g2. I played with the MT4G, and I like it. However, with gingerbread proally coming out soon (PROBABLY) , that'll slow updates, for the MT right? I like the keyboard on the G2 though.
I use facebook a lot
I text a lot
I like more customization
i'll probably root, overclock, and flash a custom rom when a lot of them become available.
mySense seems allright!
What phone should I get, and how do you like it?
I'm also worried that it's been a few months since it came out, and its not even at the front at my store anymore. I don't want to sign a contract and want another one before 3 months.
thanks!
I'm loving it right now and I haven't even rooted it yet. The keyboard is what sold it over the mytouch though. I'm kinda waiting for gingerbread before I go ahead and root. The hinge might turn you away though. It's not too bad on mine but some others at the store were petty bad.

thanks for your speedy reply!
haha thanks! well, i like it. i just am deciding if i like mysense, and if its worth losing that amazing keyboard. though the screen is only .1 inch smaller, the mytouch screen seems way bigger! i like it in my hand.
you said the hinge wasnt that bad? the one i played with was really sturdy. i see how it could become loose though.
By the way its not "mySense" it's called "expresso" and it's pretty much just a nasty version of HTC Sense.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
oh, thats interesting! your probably right, but why is it called my'Sense on the forums? so its espresso?! okay. thanks!
anyway, how do you like your g2?
If you're going to root anyways, it's up to you what phone you like best. Gingerbread will probably end up merged into CM and CM is being ported to the MT4G.
You know what's good? You can make it look exactly like mt4g with 1.8mhz overclock.

I will NEVER own another piece of MyTouch garbage! Tmobile says the mytouch line is their flagship of phones, what a joke! If you buy the MT4G, you'll get updates a year or two later.
Besides the G2 is by far a better phone. Yes, I have used both including a nexus one and I feel IMO, the G2 is a better quality, built better and looks 100% better than the plastic MyTouch line.

I'm totally in love with my G2.. people told me that since i had never had an android phone that I'd want to get something more user friendly like the mytouch's mysense ui, but i like stock android and i don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. The hinge on mine is pretty sturdy so i have no complaints

mt4g looks like a cheap kids toy/ fake wanabe i-phone with crap sense- everything from the advertising to the appearance of it is repulsive (to me) the specs are awesome though. G4 is a worthy sucessor to the G1, in a class by itself, and i agree with the reviews about it having that "luxury car" feel. do what I did, get a g4, perm root it and put the real z sense rom on it, i'm sooo happy. iv had MANY phones, love the google integation, free gps!! this phone feels anything but cheap. as far as samsung goes, i'll reserve my comments, i just wish they would stick to making tv's

G2's awesome, absolutely love it, and I'd dare say it's one of the best android phones out on the market right now and will be getting official updates long before phones with loloverlays.
That being said, if Sense is your thing, get the G2 anyway and flash any of the Desire Z sense-based roms floating in the dev section. Sense 2 > that espresso garbage on the mytouch line (and it's fast on this phone, which was nice).
I haven't had any experience with the MT 4G. But I can say the G4 is awesome. Could not be happier with it. I don't plan to root because I feel temp root is enough for my uses. But now that we have perm root it opens up so many options.
The only gripe I have with it is a slight discoloration of the soft molded plastic parts. But I don't know if everyone is experiencing this. I bought a case so don't notice any more.
I was one of the ones that had no issues from the very beginning. My hinge is decent and has never caused a problem. No random reboots etc.
Hope this helps.

Mixed Feelings
The G2 is an absolutely fantastic phone when it has strong signal or WiFi. Since the OTA, it has been stable & the memory (despite being less than 1/2 of that advertised) feels limitless.
However, the G2 behaves like a screaming 2 year old when signal is low. I don't know if it is T-mo or the phone or some combination. Apps start crashing, phone long pauses, wild fluctuations of the signal meter. It becomes absolutely unbearable. My problem is that both office and home seem to qualify as "low signal areas" - despite sometimes showing "3 bars".
If you buy it, take it on some very critical trial runs in the first 2 weeks to be absolutely sure that it will be OK in all of your stomping ground. Don't "move in" and get attached. I kept telling myself things would get better - and now I'm stuck with a very frustrating piece of hardware !

[Q] G2 user, Buying a MyTouch...

Alright guys, I've had my G2 since November 2, and now I am realizing that I really don't need a hard keyboard since I'm coming from an iPhone and haven't used a Hard keyboard since I've sold my G1 in January 09.
What I'm going to do is, sell this phone and go out and get a MyTouch.
I love the G2 but the keyboard and bulky feeling gets to me. It's quick and love the keyboard once in a while writing fast texts.
Now I'm stuck in the middle, should I do it?
With the G2, CyanogenMod works and is supported by Cyanogen himself.
And also, the G2 is stock, and feels like there is more devs making roms for it.
What do you guys think I should do? THanks
I switched for the same reason and haven't looked back. You'll enjoy the better camera, better video recording, extra ram, ffc, hard touch buttons, and thinner design.
IMO by reading your post I can tell your curious about the mt4g and I sense as though you may have already made up your mind lol you are correct on all accounts as far as dev support (so far), I say if you are in a position to try it out why not? I don't think you will be disappointed just make sure you get the "good" display.
there's a lot more Dev support for the G2
I was worried about Dev support coming from the Vibrant, which has a pretty good community.
Funny thing is....the MT4G is fast as lightning stock...and really all I'm worried about is rooting to remove some bloatware and some theming.
I might run Cyanogenmod (which looks like it's pretty easily ported) eventually, but this is my first sense (ish) phone and it's not too bad. Plus I like a lot of the things that they packed in (in particular the browser enhancements).
The Vibrant: There were tons of roms and speed hacks and dev work because the phone was garbage without it.
The MT4G: Pretty damn sweet and fast as lightning stock.
Came from the same thing you are im good with the mytouch better faster and ffc go for it you wont regret it
someone at my job has the g2 when she sees my mytouch running evil-hd Rom she regrets buying her phone, keyboard on that thing is useless in comparison to voice to text swipe, gingerbread keyboard (cm only) etc.. Our dev support isn't so bad these days, we even have a miui Rom so I say take the plunge no regrets

Alright, I've made up my mind. I want the MyTouch. But now the problem is getting rid of the G2 and getting a MyTouch. The G2 cost $50 more retail than the MyTouch but already the value is **** on craigslist. I can't get $400 for it. I've tired emailing and calling a couple people to see if they'd like to trade, no one wants too.
Once I get rid of this G2, I am in for the MyTouch. I don't care about the color anymore, lol, white or black, other than the red and purple.
Anyone here know where else I can sell it? eBay? I don't want too cause paypal and eBay take big chunk of the money... Ughhhhhh, If I can't I'm going to stick it with this phone. I like it but the MyTouch is better but whatever.
But the thing is, I really use the keyboard on this thing though. I hate using the swype or any other soft KB for long text messages, the hard KB is just easy to type on.
Last Friday I sold a G2 for 300 on C/L.
Saturday bought a Nexus S on a contract upgrade.
Returned the Nexus S this morning, canceled contract.
(I could not deal with the phone having no way to move the curser)
Tonight bought a MyTouch 4G brand new for 350 on C/L.
Impressions... the MT4G is a faster better phone then the G2
but the bloat ware is horrible.
I'm too used to the stock android on my Nexus One.
I have a G2 and I wind up with a free mytouch 4g due to some contact shifting. I didn't care for it at first, and went back to my G2. Then I gave it another chance, and used it over last weekend. I was bummed about what I perceived to be poor battery life compared to my wife's G2. When I went back to the G2 I realized what bugged me about it: the keyboard is a little too stiff for me, and I went back to the mytouch. It's my fifth Android phone, and the best I've used.
Well buddy I am in the same boat as you are and like you I also wanted G2 but later switched to MT4G, thank god I didn't buy G2 or I would have regretted it by now as MT4G is superior. Now I come from HD2 community and we all know the advancement we achieved in past few months which is unbeatable at this point by any device when it comes to total custom control. Only reason I am even considering MT4G is due to my beloved HD2 being stolen. Other than that I wouldn't even think about upgrading until there was viable dual core mobile processor based device in the market.

Well, after comparing many phones to MT4G in many areas like spec, benchmark, IRL usability (browser, map, cam, ect). This is the overall result I got in my opinion so I am not trying to be biased here as I myself voted for HD2. But the only device that did beat MT4G in my opinion was Desire HD which is what I wanted only if they supported 3G in USA, hell IDK why HTC make stupid decisions. I know ill be super pissed of if they realse DHD in USA with US model just like they did with HD2.

Thanks for the replies. I got myself a white one today, even trade with the G2. Haven't got to play with it much yet but I'm living the form factor of the phone. For done reason the screen feels brighter and bigger, hence only being one inch bigger. Can't wait until I root it and get this baby going wanted the black one cause it looks slick but this will do until someone wanted to trade their black one for a white one, anyone?
Edit, you can probably tell in using swype, just have to let go of that urge to whoop out the physical keyboard when I get frustrated with swype or the soft keyboard.

Thanks. I got it. Now there's a couple things I need to fix or get it to work. Just the lack of roms, coming from the G2 annoys me. There's no good rom out there.
And the battery issue, it won't update or show the correct values of the battery
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Talking about lack of roms and development. As im already semi-migrating from HD2 to MT4G, didn't buy MT4G yet until few of the bull**** is fixed by HTC (washed out display, off center ffc, creaky buttons, ect) makes you think how it even passed QC in first place. I mean if I am welling to pay and will pay the full device price of $450 then I expect it to work. Most importantly I hope this phone can live up to my HD2 standard when it comes specially to customizability, I mean we all know how versatile HD2 is hell folks down there want me to forget about MT4G and buy another HD2 lol. I hope as time goes on MT4G community also grows along with development.
Try using team silences' Iced glacier Rom, its the stock mytouch Rom so its super stable, but it doesnt have all the bloatware. As far as your battery goes download setup(free) from the market, that along with some other phone weeks should help your battery life substantially. Also titanium backup is another app to download (free) that can help you further remove bloatware.

Keep HTC Sensation or go Nexus S?

Hi Everyone,
I recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile last weekend and picked up the new Sensation 4G with my plan. I like the phone, but then recently realized the Nexus S was on T-Mobile (some reason I thought it was AT&T). I'm not sure if I want to keep the Sensation now and swap to the NS within the 14-day period you get when signing a new contract to return the phone. The Sensation has a lot of functionality and customization, but the phone feels kinda laggy and buggy almost.
Now in my area, I don't have 3G/4G for T-Mobile so the 4G speeds aren't really felt with my Sensation so that isn't a concern for me dropping to a 3G-only phone. I have played with the NS at a Best Buy in the past and the demo unit was pretty beat on, rough shape so I might need to check it out again at another store to see if I like it. I have had the Hero, Incredible and now the Sensation so I am a pretty big fan of Sense UI so I am not sure if I would miss it a lot going back to vanilla android.
What is everyone's opinion on switching? Would you keep the Sensation and hope that performance will be better with updates (or eventually rooting/flashing ROMs) or switch to the NS while I can? Trying to get a lot of opinions on this and making my final decision this weekend.
If it makes you feel any better, I went from a G2x to a Nexus S. Sick of the Carrier/Manufacturer games.
My first phone was the G1, so I am a big fan of stock Android. I can't really get into the Sense UI on my work Thunderbolt. I find the stock Gingerbread UI to be the best UI Android phones have ever had. I've also used Samsung's TouchWiz and liked that more than Sense.
I contemplated switching to the HTC Sensation 4G because I am due for an upgrade (my contract has expired from my G1), but after working with the HTC Thunderbolt, I don't really like the quality vs my Samsung Nexus S. People kept saying the quality of the Nexus S is bad (mostly because it has a plastic back cover, big whoop), but I find it to be a solid phone and it is very fast. I have had zero problems with slowness or sluggish use. I am going to find it difficult to switch to another phone for a while I think.
I too went from a g2x to the nexus an and I'm not looking back. The nexus a is a fantastic device.and dual core is just hype, no real difference unless your a hardcore gamer.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I also tried the G2X and went back to my Nexus S and I am not looking back. The NS built quality is solid and the phone is fast. Don't let the folks who say there is to much plastic fool ya, I have dropped mine twice and it keeps right on running.
The super amoled screen blows the G2X and Sensation screens away and I also have mine rooted running the CM7 nightly with the netarchy custom kernel which is proving to be a great combination and very stable.
At the moment there is not much development in the forum of custom ROM's for the G2X or HTC Sensation which is a sticking point for me. Just my opinion.
I would stick with the HTC sensation. Bigger screen, better camera. Especially if Sense is something you're used to, rather than the vanilla android. Only thing that the HTC Sensation will be lacking in, is updates. The Nexus will get updated 1st. But if you're the kind of guy who likes to mod and install ROM's, that is a moot point.
Since the Sensation is also a newer phone, it'll hold it's moneytary value better than the Nexus S.
I'd go w/ the Nexus S. I too had the G2x, but I've had the NS for about 2 months now and haven't looked back. The screen is beautiful (especially after you root and get a kernel with the 2.3.2 color drivers or voodoo color), and I really like the form factor of the phone, too (slight curve, completely black on the front, etc.). Sure, it's all plastic but that doesn't bug me as it does others.
FWIW, I had an evo on Sprint and didn't particularly like the phone. I had 3 - 1 new and 2 refurbs - because they all developed dust under the top left corner of the screen. Also, it was heavy and too big (I think a 4 inch screen is the sweet spot). The Sensation can't fix that it is big and heavy, although it does have a higher number of pixels than the NS. I also think the back of the phone is fugly.
Sure, the NS isn't the most powerful phone out there and there are things we all wish it had (hello, an sdcard slot?) but its a great phone. And pure Google, so you'll be getting the updates first. For God's sake the N1 has Gingerbread on it and manufacturers (I'm looking at you, LG, and your G2x) still release phones with FroYo.
Thanks for all the input, the main reason I like Sense is the widgets that HTC makes. They are very handy and even though most of the widgets are duplicated by apps in the market, they just seem to "flow" better on Sense.
I have had 7 android phones so far so I have had a taste of everything almost (Vanilla - G1, MyTouch, Moto Droid) (Sense - Hero, Incredible, Sensation) (Motoblur - Droid X, bleh). I messed around with the Nexus S at the local Best Buy and the form factor was surprisingly good IMO. Had a good feel and decent-sized screen and was very responsive with vanilla Gingerbread.
I think it will depend on how much of a hassle it would be to swap out the phones on the plan. I got the Sensation at the T-Mobile store and the Best Buy rep said I would have to return the phone to that location and they would maybe have to notate on the account that I returned it and then go to the Best Buy store to get the NS. Will have to talk to T-Mobile this weekend as the location I went to was out of town.
Is anybody having GPS issues or anything like that with their NS? I have heard of many Galaxy S phones having lock-on issues and don't know if that transferred over to the NS as well.

No gps issues but htc phones seems to lock gps faster btw the sensation is a great phone and HTC widgets work better cause they actually. Made them and all to ones in the market are the copycat imo I would stay with the sensation better build quality and i'm pretty sure you will get ice cream update sometimes next year, and nexus s is a great phone but in tmobile it doesn't have hspa +. So that kind of sucks and the speaker is not as loud if you watch youtube a lot you will prefer the sensation, that's just my opinion I got the nexus s just to wait for the HTC evo 3d(sensation brother). But I do not like the build quality on it so I might just get something else or stick with verizon Thunderbolt

I don't have 4G in my area and outlook isn't the greatest for the future on it so I am not too picky about missing that.
The speaker on the sensation is on the backside of the phone so it's usually muffled and quiet when I set it down. Not a fan of that location.

Mm then maybe the nexus is not a bad choice after all I would stay with eitheir one If you really ok with vanilla android go right ahead and get the nexus s
Picked up the NS tonight! Loving it so far! Thanks for all the feedback
Be aware that the nexus 4g radio will idle a lot. You will not be connected to the internet when it does that and you will not receive push mail or gtalk messages. Or anything else that pushes. It does not fail over to 3g. These are reasons I will probably go to the evo.

I think your claim is a little off base. I receive everything fine even when 4g is idle.

I'd wanna wait for the next nexus actually. Having gone through HTC's and the SGS I really must say that stock android works the best. My Desire Z has been waiting for forever for the gingerbread 2.3 update, my old SGS on the other hand went for months without updates until samsung finally delivered the goods early this year
THE SGS2 is a different beast though. I'm mighty tempted to do the upgrade, I really believe that even the next nexus won't be able to match the hardware of the SGS2. Only the software. Samsung is a LARGE company with a lof of cash to burn and capital to spend. They can easily flex their muscle for better parts, chips and other components. Look at HTC and the way they've been skimping on everything.

No worries on this if it is true, I got the T-Mobile (3g-only) version.

Untrue. Tested and found to be the case. You pro ably have something polling every 5 minutes or so which forces a connection. You will not get instant push.

Mytouch 4G not on T-Mobile website anymore?

is it just me, or has our beloved HTC Glacier Mytouch 4G been removed from the T-Mobile website???
wow way to go tmobile. remove one of the best and most well loved phone there is >=(
was bound to happen. oh well, there's newer and better devices up.
removed to be replaced by that LG bullcrap...
way to go T-Mobile...
to be honest i have to disagree with newer and better devices. those stupid lg phones are awful. i have played with them and i had the g2x and there was not a single thing they did better in any way. i posted a few days ago about how the mt4g is the best phone i have ever had and my favorite comment was someone arguing about how the sgsII is better than the mt4g and someone replied that if you have to fight to defend a phone that is 3 generations newer with a lot newer technology, then the older phone automatically wins.
lg should stop making phones.
htc all the way
EDIT:
woooo looks like T-mobile put the MT4G back again! way to go T-mobile!

the gs2 is not three generations newer. it is one generation newer. and I don't see any possible defense for the mt4g against the gs2, it's simply a better device.
I wouldn't say its "better" Kim. Obviously throwing a phone that came out over a year ago up against a phone that's been around just a few months would be silly.
I have played with an SGS2, a real one, (Exynos). It was rooted and running a debloated stock ROM w/ some tweaks.
Moore's law states that computer power doubles every 18 months. Phones are doing it in about 12 - 14 it seems. Compare the specs between the two phones we're talking about.
With those specs there should be an awe-inspiring difference between the two - Noticeable almost immediately. There's not.
That's why we hail the MyTouch 4G. The ones that HTC managed to manufacture without serious defect (lol) freaking rock. It was, and still is special.

Just a funny comment. My neice had gotten a new mytouch a couple of weeks ago (LG version) and my wife says that her neice now has a better phone than us cause hers is the new mytouch. I told her that phone is not on the same par as glacier and i wouldnt trade for an lg mytouch even if they paid me.
One thing i do like about the lg mytouch though is that it is very light and no physical buttons. Thats more of a personal preference though.

lmao my friend has an iPhone 4S, he said it was better than mine, so we loaded up a game, Fruit Ninja to be exact, on both phones, and ran them. the Glacier owned by a landslide.
now some of you may be saying that it's "not accurate" since the iPhone sucks anyway, but here's another example. my dad got a Acer iconia A500 a few months ago, and we did a benchmark test on it. Glacier still did better.
this phone is AMAZING.

What kind of a person goes around telling kids they have better stuff than them?
Kidding. That's pretty funny.
I don't like light phones, and capacitive buttons look cool, but a physical button gets me slightly tumescent. But that's my preference.

Another G2, Sensation, or MT4G Slide?

Because my current G2 has pretty bad battery life (I'm certain it's the phone and not both of the batteries I own) I can get an extended warranty replacement. I can get another G2, Sensation, or MT4G Slide. I really like my G2, but it seems development for it is beginning to wane. Since both MT4G Slide and Sensation have front facing cameras I am leaning away from another G2. I like having a physical keyboard but can see myself without one. So, I guess the question boils down to development and battery life. What do you guys think?
I would say go with the mytouch 4g slide its like the g2 but much faster and we have a good amount of roms just not as much as the sensation but we have ics, miui, gingerbread, sense 4.0, and more and sensation has some problems so I would say go for mytouch
Sensation is a more recent device, therefore it'll get more support/updates roms then the other 2
Go for the sensation, its got a great dev scene

For features (keyboard) go for the mt4g. For dev support go for sensation. If it were me I'd go for mt4g. I like to try lots of different devices and not tried a high power keyboard device yet.

My $0.02 but I upgraded from a G2 to a Sensation and have been pleased. I miss the keyboard at times for long typing but for the most part it's a non factor. The bigger screen has been well worth it IMO. Like others have said the development for the Sensation is really good, I'm running a senseless 4.0.3 rom (Virtuous Inquisition) and everything works great with solid battery life.

Not really... Have you taken a trip down to the 4G Slide forums lately?
We've got an AOKP in progress, MIUI, and Bulletproof
There's some senseless roms as well, and kornyone is still out there somewhere for CM support.
Not to mention we got picked up by the Virtuous Team (tbalden is an amazing dev) Virtuous Inquisition is almost fully working, and we have a FULLY WORKING ICS sense 4.0 rom - Virtuous Primadonna
Granted, it's not as lively as the G2, but I would take superior hardware over software any day. G2 is starting to slow down, due to the limited ram. Still a fast phone in it's own right, but with anything intensive, it would strain
Exactly why I jumped ship

Yeah I agree you're development is picking up greatly (I was thinking of devving for it lol) and you've got great hardware, but isn't your ram the same as ours? And due to yours only being available in the USA, I don't think it will surpass the amount of users we have purely because its not worldwide. If it was worldwide there would be much more users of it (including me, I still REALLY want one!), and devs

The MT4G is a 768 mb RAM device, and I think the cpu is the same. I would lean toward MT4G Slide, bc I love a hw kb. Here is someone comparing the two:
www.technobuffalo.com/comparisons/htc-sensation-4g-vs-htc-mytouch-4g-slide-android-smackdown/
PS also, if the doubleshot rom port is any indication, I think i'd prefer MT4GS stock based roms à la Evil D (besides the PINK!! haha) over Sensation's anyway. That's just a taste thing

Hardware is leaps and bounds better than the G2 in nearly every aspect. Ram is actually more (768mb). It makes a world of difference. I periodically had to kill off apps because my G2 would get bogged down from time to time. Not with the 4GS. I don't even bother to look at what's running in the background anymore lol.
If you really want to get into the Doubleshot, PM me. It would be great to have you on board

Id keep the G2, has a 4gs since last october, shattered the screen so I'm back to a G2.. and already this ics rom I'm currently on is way, way more stable than the 4gs slide version. No offense to the devs at all in any way, shape or form.. but dev on the G2 is way farther than the 4gs.. which makes it not so bad of a downgrade. Mainly screen, ffc (which I don't use really) and dual core are good. Just my 2cents.

I'd say, wait till the price drops after the dust settles from the One * series launch and then see if you can grab a Sensation for a better price than what you could get it at now. That said, if i were buying a phone now, i'd find it nearly impossible to want anything other than the One S haha.
Ya right now is a bad time to buy a new phones.. if you buy last years tech you'll be wishin you waited a month or 2 for the latest n greatest

The DoubleShot will work wherever the G2 works. Tried and tested.
As for the hardware, the internals are the same as the Sensation, so the only thing to choose from is between the screen and keyboard.
Oh and the DoubleShot has a by FAR superior camera compared to the Sensation and the One S.

the one S has a f2.0 aperture lens, whereas the doubleshot has a f2.2, which means one S' is wider, and it also has the ImageSense chip, and its supposed to be the best HTC camera
far superior in what sense?
