thanks. is there anyone else that has tried and succeeded to play avi files on WP7?
This is one of the reasons not to switch to WP7. The other one is lack of a decent navigation program.
So then are there any programs in the WP7 app store that can play AVI's ???

i dont think so. Zune can transcode it. Zune convert it when you sync. But you cant open avi files.
In the wm6.5 you can play avi files in HD2 ??? I think cant. So convert him to mp4.
Any chance you can sideload games to your sony xperia play? Not just android games, but the ones in that playstation store?

haha, for example if you have an android app on your computer and want to put it on your phone, you can do what is called sideloading with applications such as droid explorer to install it on your phone. (There are many other ways to sideload)
can you explain a bit more? install on your sd from your computer then pop it into your phone?
Get the .apk and install it from the phone, if that's what you're taking about.

Sideloading; installing apps not from the market...

Just copy the .apk to your sd card, and use a file explorer, tap on the apk and the installer will pop up

Here you have an example of a quite nice game to sideload: http://www.wormux.org/phpboost/download/download.php
I should have phrased my question better; are the playstation games such as fifa 10 .apk files as well?

well in my experience alot of the games u get a small apk file 5-10mb
the u have to download the games data after u install the game
which can be up to 1200mb is the biggest ive had to do so far.
So the original question should've gone something like this... "Can I illegally download games and install them on my Xperia Play. "
If you are talking about Playstation 1 games then yes, via PSX emulator. If you are talking about PSP and PSN games then no. Sony may port them in the future. Which I hope they port GOW.

Yes, they are. In case you wipe the games' data they'll download it again next time you fire up the app.

You have to download whatever stuff you want to read/watch/listen to. It has maybe one sample of a manual book (can't remember), but that's pretty much it.
Books you have download and movies are streamed from the nextflix app or if you're a prime member from there videos app built into the UI. Music is also streamed and I do believe you have the option to download music from the cloud onto the internal memory.

Don't know if I'm posting this in the correct forum, but I wanted to post about how well n64oid runs on kf. Not sure if you would have to be rooted, I am , but if you want to take a trip back to the n64 days, I have had great luck with it. I downloaded it from mediafire, and side loaded it, and have been getting Roms from getyourrom.com. you can download the roms straight from the kindle without haveing to use the computrr at all. super Mario 64 runs great, and is actually very playable with the touch screen controls. Hope this post will help anyone who has been looking for one.
I would reccommend:
Super Mario 64
Starfox.64
Banjo kazooie
all the classics are on getyourrom.com

I can't get any downloads to work. Do I need to register with that site in order to get ROMs?
Ok, when I try to download a ROM it will act like its downloading then it will say download complete but the ROM file is basically an empty file.
I have tried two different browsers.
Your thoughts?
I download the Roms straight from the Link Removed after you click the Rom you want, a timer will appear then when its done, click download and it will. After pull up, n64oid and click your Rom. Hope this helps.

FSM Edit - I have removed the link for the website allowing you to download emulator Roms, this contributs towards warez.
I use firefox on the kf, and no you do not have to register. I'm not a member. I have noticed you have a daily download limit as a non member but its a pretty large amount.

I get very good performance of N64oid on the Kindle, rooted of course. Using the emulator on the stock OS resulted in intermittent lag but still good. On the rooted Kindle setting the CPU governor to performance and setting max frequency to 1008MHz delivers "almost" picture perfect emulation, no audio or animation stutters. I only did that set up for test purposes as I don't like running the performance gov for very long.....especially at 1GHz.....really don't like it at 1.2!
.....when you hit the walls of sanity, you have no-where to go.....
I need the link please post it for me then remove it again please I wanna lay !y chi
