What operating system? What version of movie maker? What is the EXACT error message?
And then once you've done all that. I recommend any software but movie maker. Of the free softwares blender is probably best but also very hard to use
Its win 8 pro and latest version of movie maker
Give u error message after a while

thanks. is there anyone else that has tried and succeeded to play avi files on WP7?
This is one of the reasons not to switch to WP7. The other one is lack of a decent navigation program.
So then are there any programs in the WP7 app store that can play AVI's ???

i dont think so. Zune can transcode it. Zune convert it when you sync. But you cant open avi files.
In the wm6.5 you can play avi files in HD2 ??? I think cant. So convert him to mp4.
As there isn't a a100 section I hope you don't mind me asking here
I have the a100 on order but can't work out if it will play avi files
Also I have seen two different specs does it come with 1gb of ram or 512mb ?
Can't wait to get my hands on it hopefully will be as good as my iPad which is going add I'm sick of been locked to itunes and three screen is to big to make it portable 7" is just perfect size

If it's anything like the a500 - it will not play avi in the stock installed video player.
However, you can use one of many alternative players that will be able to software decode the file. I love and recommend MX player, it's free, and it has great options as well as a nice feel to the player. Rockplayer also works for many things, but I find the watermark the free version puts on the screen pretty annoying would have paid for it if I had not stumbled upon mx player
Acer a100 has 1024MB of ram on board - also found some specs for it showing 528, no idea how that got started.
Thank you .... Strange why it wont play avi on stock player must be a android 3.2 thing cos on my Samsung s2 that plays avi files straight through the video player
Can you tell me if real player is available and works on the a500 ? I use this on my s2 and hope it will on my new tab when it arrives
Thanks in advance

I have some mp4 files(movies 1080p) that worked fine on Windows 8.
Now I have windows 8.1 and my files won't play in WMP, nor the metro version called "media player" and it causes Itunes to crash.
I had win 8, upgrades to preview, then to 8.1
Any help would be appreciated.
it sounds like a codec problem, but wouldn't windows 8.1 already have the codecs for mp4
Have u tried VLC media player?

No I haven't.
My end goal is to steam the mp4 using iTunes to my 2nd gen apple TV
It's really weird that it would randomly stop working
