I downloaded wp7 and it was working great for a week or so. Until one day it wouldn't boot up. It gets to the grey DFT screen then goes blank and reboots. It repeats this process indefinitely. Resetting doesn't work. Not sure what to do.
welcome to the forum,
may i suggest give a slighty more informative title to the thread next time to aid people who search for help first
Right, Boot loop can be one of two things, SD card incompatible, Battery dead
if the battery is dead it would get progressively worse to the point it wouldnt turn on
If its the SD card, try popping the SD card out and perform a hardreset, if it gets past the DFT screen then theirs your answer

Any help is greatley appreciated. I just bought the xda2 a week ago and it worked fine until yesterday. At first the phone just wouldnt dial. Then it would freeez. After a soft reset, it wouldnt go past the first "o2" screen and would just hang. The blue light started flashing eventhough I never enabled Bluetooth. The system didnt start past that screen and it also wouldn't shut off. Even after a hard reset it still had the same symptoms(it froze at the bootup screen and had flashing blue light). Around 30 minutes later after trying to turn it on and off. I finally started. But then it happened again today. Thanx in advance
If it still displays these symptoms after a hard reset then it look like a hardware fault. Only other thing i can think of is if you have a memory card inserted that is upsetting the system.
It doesnt have a memory card. I was afraid it might be hardware related. Any idea on how to have it repaired from the US
Hey all. My wife's 8525 just started the other day with a completely white screen. The phone may be working, as she did get some voicemail notifications, etc.
I did pull the battery and reset the phone, and it worked for about a day. After that, it's white screen only, and I'm not sure anything else is going on.
Here's what I've done so far:
Pulled the battery, SIM, and microSD and restarted.
Formatted the microSD Card, restarted
Tried to flash as defined in the wiki
So far, I still get a white screen. Help!
It sounds like you have the dreaded whitescreen on your hands... Do a search to find out about "possible" fixes though there may be multiple reasons why you have it. Still, doing some reading might give you the answer....
Go to search, type in "white screen Hermes" and then read...
Hi All,
Something weird happened today. After installing Google Earth update, tried to open Google earth, nothing was visible, only the top bar. After sometime the application force closed and phone restarted. After this, the touch screen was not at all responding. I wan not able to unlock the screen at all. Took out the battery and reinserted and no change in behaviour at all.
The only relief was that when i tried to connect to computer, i was getting "Turn on US Storage" screen and it was responding. But only this screen and nothing else. Tried multiple restarts but no luck. Only after changing the sim card, the phone started responding. After this changed back to original sim and the same is working now.
Any idea how to understand cause of this behaviour? Haven't rooted my phone yet.
I know this thread is old but for what it's worth I believe the issue has to do with faulty hardware.
I had the same thing happen to me yesterday when downloading a wallpaper with Zedge. Even when mounting USB storage from CWM I was not able to keep a steady connection, it was like the cable kept becoming plugged in and unplugs every few moments.
From what I was able to find, it's a faulty part and the internal SD card fails. The fix is to have Samsung replace the mainboard
However, I restored a CWM backup and everything has been fine so far, even reading files from the Internal SD that did not work during the time of the issue.
I am going to have my phone replaced anyway (I'm within 30 days with mine so I don't have to send away).
ive been a member of xda for a while and i know someones going to get pissed about me posting this, i have a serious problem. it all started when i flashed nand to my device. it worked for me for a day or two then it shut off. it wouldn't charge for like a week and then it magically started to charge again. i go to turn it on and i get a boot loop. i then flash a new rom, same problem, i flash another through the sd. i get an error. i try task29. while flashing that i get an error. i tried task29 on other computers of all versions of windows, same error.i tried task 29 through sd, nothing. now the phone is sitting in its box on my desk on a software update failed triang screen of failure. i searched the forums and it wasnt much help. anybody have any suggestions?
Pull the battery, and then put it back in.. hold the volume up and down (yes I know that's ridiculous lol) volume rockers then it should take you through the factory restore process
Being Cool from my HTC G2 running CM7
There are so many vdos available on youtube ..... search one which has more LIKE's
Also, check the 3 battery pins on the device. I had similar issues with bootloops and errors while attempting to flash, which turned out to be happening because the middle battery pin had slightly bent and was all good after carefully (be gentle) straightening the pin.
Guess all the battery pulling during flashes causes stress on the pins...Whenever possible hit the little reset button as oposed to pulling the battery to avoid damaging said pins.
i have tried this and as its restoring it freezes and it doesnt go past like 30 percent.
ill try the battery thing. ill post the results.
So I tried the pin thing and it started to flash but then it froze around 80 percent
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Same problem here.
Same as you, it started when I flashed Nandroid.
And after googling some posts, I found one of my battery pins was bent so I fix it.
But, in my opinion, once you got stuck on that problem, there's nothing to do at this moment.
Someone called it "Radio-brick"..
What should we do next....?
Hope someone solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.
On this post, you can see the pictures which shows what's going on our HD2.

Help us, plz.
While i am a noob for Android/Smartphones, I am kinda a geek for pc's... With that in mind, I ask: Why doesn't someone create a program that can be downloaded and placed on a SD card that will run during a smartphones boot up that will start the phone in a "Safe mode" and allow users to fix them.
I currently have a Samsung that keeps freezing when the logo appears. I have attempted to perform a "Soft reset" but it still freezes. I don't know were to turn, so here I am....
I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong forum... Any help with were i should go from here will be greatly appreciated.
try charging it and turning it on....or try to repeatedly take out the battery and then turning it back on.....it happens sometimes one mine
You also could run a logcat to see where the phone is hanging.
Are you running stock?

Click to collapse
will the phone go to download-mode? hold the volume-/camera/power for about 10secs it should get to a download screen so it can be reflashed, otherwise... well you know...
Sometimes this startup hanging happens for me & it will only boot w/o the SD card. Give that a shot.
This happens to me several times a month. The only solution that works consistently for me is:
1. Remove the battery
2. Wait for several minutes (Seems that some component needs to cool down, or capacitors need to drain, or something)
3. Then plug the battery back in
4. Reboot
i have found that when you hold down the Phone button for about a minute or so after you remove the battery , the phone will vibrate , do not remove your finger until the phone vibrates ...and it should boot from there.
Solution
I was talking to a tech rep at Virgin Mobile one day, and asked him if this was a common problem (knowing already that it was). Sparing you the details, what he told me is that when the intercept boots up, something gets jammed up with the 3G. And then the phone locks in the flashing logo phase. Now, EVERY single time I shut my phone down, I put it in airplane mode. It then reboots in airplane mode, and I almost never have a problem (meaning two or three times in the last 6 months). When is does happen, I reboot it again, and it boots right up. I presume that if need be, take it into a place with no signal and reboot it then.
