[Q] Bricked HD2? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

The HD2 Leo512mb i have had to be placed in such a way so the pins on the usb connector had connection to the main board, and data no longer worked. So I opened up the phone and found out that the usb connector was impossible to solder back on, so in that case I would have to order a new one.. Instead, i soldered the power from a usb cable directly to the main board on the phone and put it back together..
Booting up, it stops at the android logo...
If i try to hold down the power button to install a new rom in recovery from a zipfile, this message comes up
ANDROID LOAD at 11800000
from MicroSD
Load zImage
K: /zImage
ssSD kernel open failed
It flashes showing that screen for 1,5s and the recovery boot screen for 0,5sekond
I put the initrd-latest.gz downloaded from XDAndroid initramfs, renamed to initrd.gz to the root of the sdcard, and the last line of the loading changed to ''SD kernel open failed'' (no ss first)
I have aMAGLDR V1.13, Build Feb 1 2011 installed, and some Nandroid Cyanogenmodrom installed before it crashed. Doublechecked that everything is properly connected back again..
Is there anything to do with this, a file i could put into the SD-card? Heres a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CChE_-xbXA0
I have a Galaxy SII, but the HD2 would be great to have as a backup phone!

.......................

How about booting into the tricolor boot screen (Vol down + Power) and loading a stock T-Mobile Winmo rom? That will pretty much take out any SD card issues or Android related issues. If the rom flashes and the phone boots up, then there is something else going on.
But am I reading this right? Your usb connector is messed up? In that case, still try loading a stock winmo rom from a freshly formatted sd card. Instructions for doing that are easily found by search.

Correct! So i only have the charging part, and that makes flashing WinMo with the tricolor boot screen hard..
I think I remember how to install a rom to the sd card, but would that load up automatically, if its now automatically tries to load the kernel for the Nand installed androidrom?

Here's a video that explains a bit better whats happening

Here are the instructions for how to flash a standard winmo rom using the SD card from this thread. Download the stock rom for your phone, and give it a try.
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.

Pls try to format ur microsd to fat32 with default allocation size.
dont connect any cable when flashing using microsd.
you still have HSPL on the phone. I think you have to stop holding the down button as soon as it comes up to boot from the card but i'm not sure as i nearly bricked my phone the one time i tried to flash my phone using the sd card

is the error only visible on the bootloader screen or also in the roms you're running?
the exclamation mark you are talking about in an earlier post is most probably because you have a branded phone and you are trying to install a stock rom. this doesn't work with hspl when flashing from SD card because when flashing from sd you try to remove hspl with a rom which isn't compatible with your phone. because the rom is not compatible the upgrade or downgrade cannot complete without a goldcard.
do you still have the garbled display once you have installed a different rom via hspl/sspl, and after that try to reboot into bootloader?
Hello htc12345
the error is visible on the bootloader and in windows
without HSPL i geht the triangle to the on picture 3
yes the phone is an branded T-Mobile Germany Phone
so i think i have to wait for an official Provider ROM

Might be a lesson to all to make sure you have your stock ROM before diving head first into cooked ROMs...

HTC HD2 stuck on bootloader screen

Sorry for the double post but my other one is on page 94 of a different thread and probally wont get seen and i am now getting desperate, anyway
I have just followed the procedure as I was going to install a different ROM from ★ Miri & DINIK "Anastasia" ROM to replace my installed ROM from ENERGY
Flashing Via MicroSD Card

First I did a task 29 and now I am now stuck in the bootloader screen with its tri colour screen with USB in the white part,if I have the cable connected or Serial if the cable is removed.
I have tried a few times but it still stays on the boot screen.I am running windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and have tried all 3 different USB ports with the same result.
How do I get the phone back working?
Thanks
Your Phone is stuck in the bootscreen because you have removed the operating system with the task29. so this is normal.
make sure you have transferred the leoimg.nbh to the storage card and disconnect the phone from the cable. reboot the phone and flashing should start automatically. if it does not
now connect your phone to the computer and you will see the screen change from serial to usb
just follow the procedure as described in on the forum to flash from a computer. you do not need to be connected to activesync to do this as the phone is already in bootloader mode. just start the flashing program as described.
Thanks for that,I did realise thats the reason its stuck in the bootloader.I have connected the phone back to the computer a few times and waited untill the USB came onto the screen but the divice does not show up in "My Computer" and when I try to restore the ROM I get a 260 connection error.
I think I have just sorted the problem, not sure the reason but it was failing on a 16GB fat32 card. I have just borrowed a 2GB card from a friend put exactly the same image on and it is now updating the ROM.
Thats strange how the card has made that much of a difference, but thanks anyway.
I'll let you know how the update goes in a few minutes when it completes.
Thanks
many people have said the same thing. 16 doesn't work, 8 sometimes works, 2 usually works.
Up and running great now,,Looks like i'll have to invest in a small 2GB card as a back up,
Thanks again
Stuck also in bootloader

sorry, don't know what that means and i can't go hunting right now. it "sounds" like what happens when you flash a non tmous rom to a tmous, (unlike flashing the wrong radio, it doesn't brick the tmous, it just won't boot)

Problem resolved... not sure what caused it but I am a happy man now. This is what I did if this helps with people who might have the same problem.
1. Formated the SD card FAT32.
2. Copy and rename nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh to SD card.
3. Reset the phone while holding the down button. It jumps to bootloader.
4. Hook it with PC, USB is shown on the phone.
5. Download and extract SSPL_RUU.exe and RUU_signed.nbh from Dutty Cream la de Cream ROM into the same folder.
6. Run SSPL_RUU and it came up and running again.
Thanks for your help though, made me feel hopeful because I was getting ready to dump the phone and run over it with my car
no worries, just for info, step two was not needed, it would have tried to flash leoimg at step three if you hadn't been using the stock gig sd card (the 16gb cards don't work, which is why the phone ignored it.)

[Q] Downgrade from froyo to tmobile hd2 rom

Hello all. Last night i flashed both my and my girlfriends t mobile branded hd2's to android 2.2 using magldr and a DFT android rom. Since then her 3g service randomly starts and stops as well as both of our devices have lost the ability to be read on a pc. I want to restore her device to the stock t mobile rom but the rom i downloaded from their website ends up stating that there is a usb error. Could someone please help me. Much appreciated.
I did some searching around and came across this: http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/01/how-to-upgrade-htc-hd2-rom-through-sd-card-video/
Which was off of this page, which is most likely what you installed on your HD2s (NAND android correct?) http://www.jayceooi.com/2010/12/31/how-to-install-nand-android-on-htc-hd2/
BTW, which radio version are you running? It seems that your builds want the 2.15 radio.
thank you so much for replying, this is the nand android that i flashed with but i cannot for the life of me find an official tmobile rom that will work with magldr to reflash her phone. O and how do i go about finding out the radio version???
Bear with me since I've never NANDandroid'd my HD2's, only have run them from my SD cards. My understanding is that magldr can be removed by just reinstalling another flash, like Tmo's 3.14 or 2.13.
Is this the exact NAND you installed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620 It says "Uninstallation:
It is possible to downgrade to original Windows Mobile 6.5, by just flashing to an Official ROM.
Both MAGLDR and Android will be removed"
My bet is that you'll have to do the SD card method of reflashing:
Remove your sim card, then
Download a stock rom, unpack it, and...
.
1. Place the LEOIMG.nbh on a 8GB or smaller microSD card.
2. Remove the battery cover and press the Reset button.
3. Hold the Volume Down and End Call (power) buttons at the same time.
4. As soon as "Searching..." appears on the screen, release the Volume Down button.
5. ROM will flash. Be sure to hard-reset afterwards to prevent weird errors (as usual). (credits to snarksneeze)
To find your radio version, check in android's about phone section in the settings menu. I don't know of any other way other than maybe the bootloader screen (3 colors, red, green blue), might list it (volume down and power button).

Ok the closest thing that i have found online is a custom rom called "Kumar's Leo Touch Prem V3.0 S23142-WWE.nbh". Now i am completely lost after the step that states Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
ok i tried renaming the rom and copying it to the sd card but when i try to reboot by holding the power key and the down volume rocker the phone just continually vibrates and never restarts. When i try a regular reboot by holding the power button i can either go back into android or pull up magldr but not flashing options for winmo
Wait a minute...don't use that Kumar's ROM, it's for the Euro HD2 (512MB) --it'll probably brick your US TMO HD2 (1024 MB).
Ok, find a TMO USA nbh file, then rename it to LEOIMG.nbh, then copy it to the the microSD card with a card reader. Next, put the microSD card back in the phone and remove the SIM card (some folks say it's better to flash without the SIM card in).
Make sure before you flash that your battery level is more than 50%! Enter the bootloader by doing the following:
To place the HD2 into Bootloader mode,

WOW thanks a million before i bricked the phone, the closest thing to a t mo nbh file that i have found so far is what i am assuming is a rom labeled "T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1.exe". I will continue scouring the net until i find something and again THANKS A MILLION
Ok here's the thread that'll save your day:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681317
at the end of the first post is a ROM for you. Copy that to the microSD card and go from there, following the instructions. I forgot since it's been a while since I've done it that you need an 8gb or smaller microSD card, the 16gb one doesn't seem to work for flashing.
Here's your 2.10 stock TMO USA rom, http://devftp.xda-developers.com/files/zelendel/LEOIMG.nbh after you get this installed, perhaps your USB connectivity will be back and you'll be able to later update to 3.14 if you so choose (http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/DeviceDownloads.aspx?pid=leo2) or 2.13 (http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/DeviceDownloads.aspx?pid=leo)
1. Place the LEOIMG.nbh on a 8GB or smaller microSD card.
2. Remove the battery cover and press the Reset button.

Download that .exe you where talking about and extract it to gain the .NBH file you need.
You know what's wierd is I used to be able to extract/decompress that .exe file! Now I can't, I figured I probably uninstalled the program that does that on my computer. Anyway, I was going to recommend to the OP to do that except that he might not have the program to decompress that .exe as well, so I figured I'd make it a little easier for him by suggesting he download just the .nbh file from the forums.

Flashing back to tmobile stock

Hey guys, Im not new to this flashing thing so Im ata complete loss as to what Im doing wrong.
Im running magldr v1.13 w/ CWM and a MyTouch 4G installed. I need to go back to Tmo WM6.5 so I can return the phone under warranty. I have read the guides over and over and I have no idea what Im doing wrong.
I have tried 3 separate computers XP, Vista, and Win7 and 2 cables, however when on the bootloader screen I never get the "USB" at the bottom when plugged in. I can select USB flasher and it connects to the computer, same with USB MassStg.
I really appreciate any advise here....
just flash via sd card.

worked, thank you!
Can someone point me to where I can find the stock rom for my USA T-mobile HD2? (link maybe??) I have been unable to find where to download it.
I also tried going to HTC.com and I couldn't find it there either.
What happened was that I had the Android 2.2 nand on it and now the touch screen has stopped working. The physical buttons work fine. I tried to reinstall android but it failed and now it won't boot into android. I would like to bring it back to factory Windows Mobile and if the touch screen still does not respond, then see if I can take it back to T-mobile.

[Q] hd2 not booting and usb socket broken

Hi
My HD2 is not booting up. It just gets into a loop showing the materializing/de-materializing android symbol.
I have done both soft and hard resets, but cannot get it to boot. My other problem is that the USB socket is broken so I cannot connect it to a PC.
I am using an external battery charger to charge the battery and then having to insert the battery back into the HD2. The booting problem started when the battery ran out of power overnight while in the phone.
I have android aMAGDLR V1.13 build feb 1 2011 by Cotulla 2011. On the hard reset RGB screen it displays
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0X30
Then in the bottom white stripe it displays the word 'Serial'.
How can I get my phone to boot and then without the USB connection put the original windows 6.5 ROM back on so I can send it back to T mobile for repair as its still under warranty?
The other option is how can any trace of the android rom be wiped from the HD2 so I can send it for repair? I would just have to act stupid and blame the broken USB for wiping any ROM LOL.
I hope somone can help.

To return your phone to stock (including spl) -
1. Format your SD card using the format tool ON YOUR PHONE.
2. Download the correct firmware from your device from HTC official website
3. Open the .exe with winzip/winrar/7zip
4. Extract the RUU_Signed.nbh file
5. Rename the RUU_Signed.nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh (apparently caps is required)
6. Copy LEOIMG.nbh to the root of your SD card
7. Insert SD card into phone.
8. Boot into tri-colour bootloader (Hold vol down, tap power button but continue to hold vol down)
9. Release vol down when you see 'Searching...' on screen.
Your phone should boot to bootloader, notice theres a leoimg.nbh file on your SD card and flash the stock firmware you got from HTC. All data will be lost, as well as HSPL. You can then send your phone back for repair.
If this works for you please press the thanks button, its what keeps me lurking in the forums trying to help when I can =]
Thanks for the reply jwchips.
I cannot do step 1 as the phone will not boot so I cannot format the sd card using the phone.
I have the following original firmware from my phone- RUU_Leo_S_TMO_UK_3.14.110.1_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
Do I rename this file to 'LEOIMG.nbh' ?
How do I save this to ' root of my SD card' as apposed to copy and pasting into my sd card?
What if in step 9 'searching' does not appear? As in RGB so far nothing happens. I'm charging the battery and when fully charged will follow you instructions and hopefully I can save my phone and send it off for repair.
Can you boot to MAGLDR? Is there a format SD option in there? I'm a clk user so I'm not 100% sure what options MAGLDR has. If you cannot format via your phone try to format via windows (try fat32 first, if it fails to flash try fat. Theres conflicting arguements as to which one works, but you can't cause damage by formatting to the wrong type, the flash will simply fail at the end).
The RUU_Leo_S_blahblah sounds like the install file you downloaded from the htc website. Rename it from .exe to .zip, open with winzip/winrar/7zip and look for RUU_Signed.nbh. Rename that file to LEOIMG.nbh.
The root of your sd card means not in any folder. So sdcard/LEOIMG.nbh is ok, sdcard/firmware/LEOIMG.nbh is not.
If nothing happens... nothing happens. Worst case scenario is you've wasted some time. The only time where things can go wrong is when you are actually flashing the firmware, and flashing via sd card is the safest way to go (no accidently pulling out cables/powercuts etc).
You won't see 'Searching...' unless the bootloader has found the LOEIMG.nbh file. As you don't have it on your SD card yet, you won't see it
P.S. Theres a thanks button now you know

Thank you jwchips. I've got the phone working with the original (rubbish)winmo 6.5 installed. Now I will be taking it to the nearest T Mobile shop so it can be sent to be repaired before my warranty runs out. Then I will be getting either the HTC Titan or and most likely the Samsung Note.
Glad to hear everything went okay!
