Can I put that program on a usb stick or a sd card and boot it from the BIOS menu to repair it?

No, you have to install easybcd on your working os (w7) than use it creating new boot option for w8

lol, if you have no os starting:

Lol that was my problem all along I didn't have a repair disk, but it seems that easybcd saved me, I seached on google "can I boot easybcd?" And what would you know one of the top results was repairing the bootloader, and they had a store where you could buy the repair disks for $10, so its all good now. Oh and I put easybcd on the computer and backed up my bootloader this time. But I'm not gonna put windows 8 on it, I put it on my laptop and it sucks, its not slow or anything, it just seems to tablety.
Anyway, thanks!

Good job, didnt know easybcd was bootable, we never end to learn.
W8 is future, better if we get used to it now

I'm not gonna have anything forced upon me, if I don't like windows 8, ill keep windows 7, if I get a new computer and it has 8 I will theme it without the app style view. Or buy a windows 7 disk.

the same here, but after flashing, the first impression is really good.
so far so good, but so far 2 issues...
find my phone says it needs attention... when I click on it, it says it is still being set up, and to come back to it later...
If I go to windowsphone.com and log in, my phone isn't there...
2nd is if I try to set up wireless sync (working fine before this ROM) it says it can't find my phone and throws error C00D07C9. Phone is connected to my wireless, accessing it fine, Zune shows the proper network as well...
---------- Post added at 10:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:02 PM ----------
I may have answered my own question...
Went to delete old phones from the Zune software, and it said I can only add a new phone after 12-11-2011... Done too many flashes in the last couple weeks and it thinks I have a lot of phones...

American android 2.3.5 stuck

okay this has happened to me twice before already and is starting to get very annoying.. the first times i had to reformat the whole SD card and start completely anew
i am using American android 2.3.5 booting from SD card. first boot takes about 5 minutes and no problems whatsoever. after some time for some reason i have to restart the phone, and when i boot into the load screen ( the screen which says Powered by american android ) its just stuck there the whole time. taking out the battery and trying to boot again numerous times has failed.
can anyone help with this problem?
correct partition size?

Can anyone explain the ratioanle behind this?
see if you have a folder called android on sd card, this rom seems to create a folder called android, with sub folder called data.
delete both, data and them android, phone should boot and load properly then, but you have to remember to delete it everytime you close down,or boot windoes first and do the delete then.
have had same prob with multiple aa roms.

hijacking threads is considered rude, hoqwever to explain it, it stops people with one post who haven't read anything, filling chefs rom release threads with 'i want get this on my phone, how do i do it, tell me now' posts.

LG Fathom with Android question

I know there is a thread right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231086
However, all the links are dead, anyone bother to update it for me please?
I want to use the phone with ATT without data plan with it (GPRS, 3G, stuffs..)
So is it the Android rom is good in this case yet because it says support the GSM "partially"?
Thanks
Well i need it toooooo .. anyone listening ?
I have a Fathom that I was messing around with Android on and still had the files on my HDD. Uploaded them to 4shared:
~90MB Android 2.3.5
http://www.4shared.com/rar/-w1AtQcu/fathom.html
Wifi Files (Don't know if you need them but I'll upload anyways)
http://www.4shared.com/zip/DA3KFkfx/fathom-wifi.html
It is stuck at "Jumping to Kernel". Any help? Step-by-step instructions?
Are the files placed in a folder called "fathom" which is placed in the root of the SD card.

Sure. Do this and you will be fine.
1) Download the files. https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=5a36dd445483e8d8&resid=5A36DD445483E8D8!1568&parid=root
2)Extract the "fathom" folder inside the archive.
3)Move the extracted "fathom" FOLDER and move/copy to the ROOT of your SD card. Not the files inside the folder, and not the zip file itself either.
4)Go to your LG Fathom. Go to the "fathom" folder in the SD Card, then click on the "CLRCAD.exe" file. I heard it enables the sound, but it doesn't work for me. But just do it in case.
5)Launch the "haret" exe file. It is a longer name, but it starts with "haret".
6)Wait and enjoy.
The thing is, when I run it Android crashes and restarts every 10 seconds. Literally. Is it the hardware's fault? Anyone have better files? Or maybe an older version of Android to let it run smoother? Well I am not running it again until there is a fix. -_-

Go to network settings disable Airplane mode and wait for a few seconds until it disables fully and ur gsm network shows up...
PS: better to format ur SD card before u do this

Did u have any luck??? try using a lesser memory SD card (2 GB preferable) and try to format it using FAT32 before u copy 2.2 folder and try running Haret when still connected to PC via USB...

Ok, so there is a way to delete the android os (i've done it before) it's ok until you reboot.
Then short of flashing your phone using wotan server or flashtool, you have bricked your phone.
Is there a point to removing the android os? No!

Actually with Linux, yes, you can (sent you a pm with the code for it ). su is ridiculously powerful.
And if I remember right, can't you call fdisk/format in command prompt and format the disk windows is on while running windows (atleast you could when windows still had a full-fledged DOS installation)
Flashing bios is a little bit different, but I know Asus netbooks have the option to flash an updated Bios in Bios (using a USB drive)

Nope, because the /boot partition would still be intact, and the ramdisk would still try to boot Android (leading you to the splash screen after the boot screen just cycling endlessly)
Edit: actually on the Casio commando, it has a Nice little Verizon logo and "now loading" stuck on it.

Secondly...why bother deleting Android from the phone when you can customise the thing so much to make it look like any other OS you want, be it Windows, iOS, etc?

Ok, thanks for that info about the Asus mobos, that makes sense.
the windows command are either format or fdisk, but like I said they might not work so well on modern systems (i.e. XP and up, because I don't think they have a full fledged DOS install...)
Out of curiosity, have you ever played around with a rolling release distro? I have arch, and I'm constantly updating the kernel, so while I'm not "deleting Linux" the kernel updates do remove the old one, and replace on boot...

I remember when someone asked me how to compile CyanogenMod:
I told them (as a joke, they didn't really do it thank god) to do:
sudo su
rm -r /
Of course if they didn't know what this meant, they shouldn't want to know how to compile CM.
Ah, that's what. If I have time I will make a post with instructions on how to compile CM7 for the Play

HD Unknown - 0 Kb

Dear Forum Users,
I'm a newbie to the Linux world, although I've been always keenly interested to get to know more about linux and open softwares.
I have a 500GB Hitachi HD that is not recognized by any OS I have, my last hope is Linux, I made 3 Live CD with versions of Backtrack 5, Ubuntu and Big Linux.
When I insert the HD and use GParted in all distributions it finds no hard drive connected.
If I go into the hardware settings I see my HD but it appears as if the capacity was 0 Kb but it has 500 Gb.
I'm trying trought gparted (doesn't list the drive) and fdisk (doesn't list the drive), in Windows I had tried replace the MBR info (error), EASEUS Partition Manager is the unique program that can list the drive, but show the error I/O.
When I plug in Sagemcom Device and format, then i put it back in my desktop just show me the samething.
If I flash a new firmware I can restore this HD? And if I make a ZeroFill?
Please help me out.
Sincerely,
Barros
MAN!!!

Try using easeus data recovery wizard or just format it if your files weren't important.
EaseUS may require more space than the actual size of your files, so prepare a big hdd.
You can always recover it at any time by using the app.

Well here's a list of few great open source games:
-Xonotic, FPS game with today's graphics standards.
-Speed Dreams, graphics weren't good but you will have good experience playing this.
-VDrift, racing game with drifting physics.
You may try to Google 'best open source pc games'.
