Saw a post on theverge, someone has ported ICS to transformer and making this the first tablet with a ics-port.
Much is not working, there is a youtube link in the artikle: http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/21/...fficial?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
I am going to wait until ASUS throws the official update my way, but just a few glimpses makes me giddy.

While that does appear promising, bear in mind that ICS doesn't handle Flash content yet. I would not be surprised to see performance take a huge hit once Flash is enabled.
as long as it does not make us a html5 cripple im happy

Do people really care about flash? I get by just fine with flash blocked in my desktop browser, and I'M thinking of removing it from my phone because I just don't use it.
A far as I can tell, Flash on mobile has just been a marketing exercise.
I'm much more interested in finding out how purple have their TF101 dev environments set up so I can try building my own...

Criminy that browser's fast. And Flash can always be turned off, so I've never understood the complaints about a performance hit.

Yep, and likewise you can load flash for one specific element with a simple tap, so it's actually preferable to leaving it switched on, if you ask me. Quicker page download, and less annoying, flashing ads...

Looks pretty fast, although another video elsewhere suggests to me that home page swipe still isn't quite as smooth as the iPad 2. (Not surprising, as Apple customized their proc to include dedicated processes for specific functions, and I'd bet swiping is one of them.)
I'd like to see Photoshop Touch on the Prime -- that could really take advantage of the processor power!
I want flash, I like to play flash games on my transformer. I like that "tubes" for adults works great (only red have issues). I want it, even if browser with this plug-in is slower.
Flash is dead... adobe announced on 11 November they are stopping development of it on mobile devices to concentrate on html5... so why bother to build something obsolete into ICS? Sod it! Maybe apple were right all along :-(

Holy **** shut up about Flash. Adobe isn't making it for mobile devices anymore. We will still have it, and many people still need it. I'm tired of like 30% of the threads in this forum contain people either *****ing about the lack of flash or being delusional enough to believe flash is useless on mobile.
ICS will get flash. So will Jellybean and other newer firmwares. No one, and I do mean absolutely no one, gives a **** about whether you want flash or whether you don't want flash.
With that said, the browser is insanely fast. That isn't just because flash is disabled, it's an actual increase in rendering time (along with a few tricks to convince you it's instant).

I'm not upset, merely annoyed, I naturally tend to swear a lot. Yes, I meant decreased. It looks faster than honeycomb, but it also only displays the page after it's fully rendered, which is known to cause a difference in appeared loading time.

That's for mobile only, and even if Adobe kills it off on the desktop, it will take a period of several years at the least before it largely dies out online. Apple sheeple may be willing to accept partial web access during those years; Android users aren't. We want, expect, and almost certainly will get flash on Ice Cream Sandwich.

I guess the fact that Adobe PLANS to bring flash to ICS doesn't matter? And don't you think by the time HTML5 comes out, Jelly Bean would be ready?

Without a doubt the Epic 4g is definitely the most impressive piece of hand-held hardware I have owned to date. I am a long time HTC user and I can promise I will [probably] never go back. There is no other phone on the market that I would rather have for the uses that I use it for. I made my decision wisely after a lot of research. So with that being said, why in the world is so many people so up in arms and worked up over not getting a 2.2 update? Do you really need flash that bad on your phone? If you're spending that much time using flash sites then why not man up and buy yourself a decent netbook? Seriously I don't understand. The only reason I have ever been upset that I didn't have flash was when I was unable to masturbate to my normal free porn site, and instead had to find a mobile version. An inconvenience, yes, but not to the extreme that I cursed samsung. Besides it's much better to have two hands free (for some of us anyway).
So what is it? You want to brag to the girls at the bar that your Epic can do more mflops than a Amsterdam prostitute? Someone please enlighten me here. My experience with 2.1 has been super smooth, responsive, and no app I can throw at will slow it down. In real world use what is the benefit of 2.2? Oh yeah it would be nice to have the new gmail app with the return/forward at the top instead of the bottom, true, but what else?
If you weren't tied to your phone's benchmark like it was the size of your peni$, what seriously is the Epic 2.1 lacking that a 2.2 update would fix?
edit: Keep an eye out for my new rom: Better than froyo. Completely Stock with madthumbs mobile bookmark baked in.

I wondered the same thing for a long time. If you need flash so bad then download the adobe flash app.
Now most of us are on the leaked froyo I'm seeing crap about gingerbread. What's so special about that is what I really wanna know.
I get mad lag on my stock 2.1 phone. This is my second Epic since launch and both lagged after about 12 hours of uptime.
I brought this phone in to Sprint and of course it decides to be all snappy for them. >:-| So my only hope is for the better task management FroYo offers will remedy the lag. That said, sure the lack of an update sucks, but I'm not sweating it.

Fine, but seriously... lack of 2.2 is not what kills it for me on this phone... it's the damn screen that's calibrated like ass. Being a photographer, I just have to ask myself... who the f wants to stare at a screen that calibrated to a very cool temp?
2.2 won't help you there, but this will: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...-universal-version-takes-aim-at-more-phones/#

Hmmm.... wonder if any Devs know if theres a way to adjust more advanced settings than RGB... thats great, but It would be nice to be able to ISF calibrate this thing, it does have amazing image potential. May even be able to set up profiles for outside, movie, the retarded 'sports' one, oh wait, think its on that... Set up to work well with the lighting at a Sprint store I would assume...
I'd like to be able to use the audio-out function of the expensive factory dock I bought. I'd also appreciate full voice command support.
There is more to Flash than just websites and video. Froyo also gives you the ability to run Adobe Air applications as well as run Flash content. I already have two Air apps that I've been working on that I will be putting on the market once I've got 2.2 on my Epic and can test them myself.
Not to mention that Google has been updating their core apps and some will now require 2.2. I, for one, don't relish the fact that a phone I bought 2 months ago can't run the latest apps.
And please don't tell me to install a custom ROM. I'm new to Android and this is my primary communication device for personal and business use. I'm not really ready to risk screwing it up just yet.

It does not....No one I know bought an Android for the sole reason that it plays Flash, and if anyone did, they're an idiot. I bought one because I could customize it, root it, and a boatload of other things that I can't do with an iPhone. HTML5 is way better than Flash anyway. We'll all be better off because of this.

Ummm, actually, Flash is one of the main things I was excited about when I moved to android on June 4th 2010 (evo launch).
I came from WinMo. The skyfire browser on WinMo supported flash, and finally provided a desktop experience on my phone.
Reading the comments on the article I linked to seemed to support the argument that HTML5 could be great, if it was developed a lot further than its current state. Which means, as OstrichSak said, what until then?
And hopefully google DOES have something up their sleeve

I ain't trippin' 'bout waitin' for this update. My XOOM runs as I expected it to back in February (and it's about time, too.) The only things that ICS offers that I care about are resizeable Widgets (I hope they mean it this time) and the ability to take screenshots and hide apps without root access.
I can get almost everything done on my XOOM that I planned to do when I bought it. It will be nice to have as long as they don't screw it up. I don't care if it comes.

If you want a taste of ICS, then DL the latest version of ADW Launcher EX. It is just like the ICS launcher (from what I've seen) and it takes a bit of getting used to. A bit too easy to create folders IMO as you move app icons around. Resizable widgets, of course (not new for ADW). Lots of customizations possible.

Scrollable widgets kinda suck on ADW launcher EX on my xoom. It's hard to flick and scroll my gmail widget. It's worse when I set gestures to open/close the dock. Everytime I try to scroll widgets up or down, the dock opens or close and I can't even scroll the widget properly.
Not everyone has the time or will to dig through the thread list to check whether or not a particular topic has been discussed already before starting a new thread on the same topic. Besides, let the mods moderate reposts of essentially the same topic. That is why they exist, after all (among many other responsibilities, of course)!
With that out of the way, I share in the OP's eagerness for an ICS port and find it a bit disconcerting that there's no port for my tablet the Xoom, of course nor my phone, the T-Mob GSII. I applaud the devs who are currently toiling away to bring ICS to the Xoom and would definitely buy one of them a round of beer for their hard work with the only catch being since I don't have Paypal (long story) they'd have to be in the NYC area

Motorola already confirmed it will come, just give them time. Those things don't happen overnight, as they have to take the source code, add the hardware drivers (different interface with the kernel than previous versions), add their branded software, and then test everything to ensure it works. It will come, both from the community AND Motorola.

If you go to a page thats built up with 90% flash adds, it can be a bit slow with loading the page. But it works just fine. (ICS 4.0.4)

FYI, the Newegg deal with the keyboard dock is 389 (refurbished) -- you have to select the special deal when you go to add the TF101 to your cart. It's 289 for the tablet alone.

Wow - that sure is mis-leading!! They make it look like it's $289 for tab and dock, when it's really just the tab... Deceiving, at the least...

Then you truly won't have flash... Among other things. Apple products are good for people who don't care for customization or versatility. My TF can do anything that an iPad can do... The inverse can not be said. My TF with dock is without a doubt the closest thing to a laptop replacement available.
The iPads sure look cool though and sleek... Beyond that, their limited versatility has no use for me.
Apple is made to be idiot proof... They are like safety scissors... You use then with no fear of injury, but beyond play time they lack true use.
P.s. I was an idevice user until the iPhone 4. I've had the og iPhone, 3g, 3gs, 4, iPad 1 and iPad 2. They are good devices, but like others have said, apple has lost all innovation and opted to keep almost the exact phone since the beginning. Many others like myself desired change a well as free will of our content and devices.
Either way you should be happy with what you choose, we are lucky to have these options, we didn't have so many options a few years back.

Who cares? Let this guy buy an iPad if he thinks that's what he wants. Spare us all another "versus iPad" thread, or go to one of the existing "versus iPad" threads if that must be rehashed.
Its not that I want the ipad.....from what I understand. The ipad2 and even the new ipad uses outdated technologies. And the tf101 is already a better machine. I just want to make sure it can do everything....that is all.

you won't need flash... most will start using html5 which I'm told is a lot more reliable.
Why can't we have both till HTML 5 becomes as common as Flash!
We've been hearing the same thing from years.
I've copies of the APKs in my Dropbox should I ever need them. No big deal it'll be obsolete in most handsets soon.

The reason we've been hearing it for years is because the web developers have been lazy and just stuck to flash, there was no incentive to use HTML5, but now since flash is being phased out of android they will have more incentive to use HTML5 seeing that more and more people are accessing the internet via mobile devices and as we know the iPhone has no flash and now android too.
I say good riddance.

This sucks.
I personally don't use flash, but a lot of educational software children use is flash based. Sure it will transition to HTML5, but in the meanwhile is will inconvenience many users more than provide incentive for developers.

How many kids are using android phones to use educational software that is web based?
I think that is mostly done on a computer.
Seriously.

Ya but a lot of the tablets out there today won't get Jellybean so they don't need to worry, and think of it this way, the iPad is massively popular and has NEVER had flash.
I don't see it being a prioblem, tbh, any educational website that is worth anything is already using HTML5 to cater for their iPad and iPhone customers, and if they aren't already using it then they are bad business people because they are neglecting a huge market.

Gotta say, what's available/not available for iThing users does not concern me. I'm concerned with what's available/not available for non-iThings.
I'm not happy with the pulling of this app. I think it should be been left up, with warnings that it's no longer supported.
He is dead now so no good complaining to SJ the man that kill flash .

With it being gone we will have more content in HTML5, why don't people get that?
Flash is crap, good riddance to buggy, slow crappy flash.
I don't care about isheep either but I do care about getting the best experience possible on my devices and flash isn't that.
If its such a big deal to you then put a copy of the apk on dropbox or your SD card.
Stop complaining about something you can't change.

Well I for one, get it. I would just like the ability to download the Flash app from the Play Store if I wanted to play flash on my Android device, do you get that?

Flash can be crap, it can also be good, and yes it can be buggy sometimes, other times I have not seen any bugginess.

I care about getting experiences on my device, and pulling the app means I could lose the ability to experience Flash. Let me put it this way; imagine if you lost the ability to flash <pun intended> ROM's because of they contain bugs/some third party decided you were not getting the best possible experience.
If its such a big deal to you then put a copy of the apk on dropbox or your SD card.

The best reason to have titanium back up!
But really I use chrome on this and it doesn't support flash anyways!
Not a big deal too!

I get that this move will push HTML5 sooner, but the point is that the mobile internet is not ready for this and a lot of android users need flash as things stand today.
I use the BBC iPlayer a lot on my phone. The live coverage of the Olympics app was also flash dependent. It is not a case of a lot of small websites that have been slow to adapt to HTML5, some VERY big sites are also stuck. I actually dumped chrome in favor of dolphin on my phone because I wanted to use flash.
I know that XDAers will be finding various ways to keep flash available or workarounds to access HTML5 versions of sites that usually try and call flash. Like it or not though, many many users are not aware of how to do this on their phones.
The adoption of HTML5 is already being forced by some mobile browsers no longer supporting it, JB not supporting it iThings not supporting it. I'm also happy to keep flash even if i don't get the "very best user experience". Frankly flash being rubbish by comparison to HTML5 sites will also force the issue. All I want is the option to have flash for those occasions I need it, and I am sure thats what the majority of android users want. Even those who run stock roms, never visit XDA and don't know what HTML5 or flash is.
I wonder what adobe is gonna do now
Galaxy SII i9100 running Resurrection Remix Rom with Siyah Kernel!

I agree.
Come to think of it you seem to speak a lot of sense because I find myself agreeing with you all the time
The earlier we start using modern standards, the more efficient our phones will be.
I'm not sad to see it go, all it did was drain my battery on several occasions, and not even play the video.
if you are on xda i don't see why this should bother you, getting the apk is as simple as using the search button.
Once html5 is adopted fully and standardized fully, im absolutely sure it will be great. Hoever, in the mean time, this is ****.

As long as the ICS version of flash works just as well on jelly bean then all is good. Almost all the sites i use require flash so if the Ics Apk doesnt work well then i will have to stick to ics
