Revert epic back to stock - Epic 4G General

I want to convert my brothers epic back to stock without root or custom roms or anything...i just want to update through the sprint updates to 2.3. I think right now it is on a 2.1 rom...so how would i go about getting it on the official sprint updated 2.3 ginerbread?
thanks

Why nit just flash an ei22 rom ... it will keep Witt and update you. The almost stock rom works good.

Odin back to EC05 and then manually or wait for the gingerbread update to be pushed to it... You'll lose all data doing this though. The

Yes here is the thread to help you revert it to EC05 to get the OTA from Sprint:

Also as mentioned you could always just flash a custom Gingerbread ROM like Legendary.

Reccomend this cause the stock update kinda breaks gps and has dreadful keyboard skips.

My GPS survived the update without incident. I then rooted and flashed.

I agree with the other posters, I did the same as you're trying to do, and while I found it to be a very nice update, I liked the ACS ICS v5 ROM much more. It is EI22 Gingerbread as well.

How to un-flash Bionix rom and go back to ji6 firmware?

Ok so I flashed the latest Bionix Froyo rom onto my Vibrant and I don't really enjoy the hiccups found in the rom. I would like to go back to the Ji6 updateand wait for the official 2.2 update from Samsung. Can someone explain to me how i would do so?

In theory, you could flash Anderoid's AOSPish 1.4 which will bring your kernel back to 2.1 and then flash the stock J16 rom over that.

Would that work? That would be so much easier than using odin.

Yeah, aospish has the kernel included, so it shouldn't give you any problems.

questions

have been downloading all the things i need to put dj05 and voodoo5 on my fascinate. however i am unable to get the link to ODIN and CWM recovery to work.
also. now with the impending release of who knows what from verizon i am gonna wait.. if it is froyo. would i be able to root froyo after a ota? would i be able to voodoo froyo?
another off topic question.. i see the dj05 superclean has a lot of "aosp" programs.. what is aosp?
the superclean dj05 does not mention things like calander. does this mean the calander has been removed?
Link for odin and cwm
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/development-135/how-to-root-recover-update-go-back-to-stock/
When froyo is released wait for the devs to repackage it into a rom, it doesn't take long...
Aosp is android open source project meaning stock android...no skins on top like touchwiz or sense...
And roms come with apps like calendar still installed so don't worry about that...

You can create a backup of your stock rooted rom and then restore it any time but I recommend odin if you wanna go back to 100% stock

Do you have EC05 yet???

I know it is a little bit early, but let's start looking for EC05 confirmations/sightings.
If this is like the last rollout, it won't start until like 9PM Pacific ON the day IIRC. Also I don't remember when the .exe appeared on the Samsung site, but who knows if they will even do that again, after the problems with the last version.
may as well post this here... when i rooted EB13 i lost my asphalt demo. will that prevent me from updating to EC05?

I think the official ota but once the devs get it they will post a pre-rooted one and you'll be fine.

There was a EC05 version in the development section, but the petty mods closed the thread already....
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
XDA rules state that you can't make an xda user sign up for another site to download a rom it needs to be posted on XDA. Thats what i am getting out of the thread being locked.
Petty mods? Posting a ROM on XDA that requires people to register or pay to download is against the rules.

yes, the OTA update will fail for you.

That is not correct. They posted the stock deodexed version of EC05 and Bonsai for all EC05. No payment required. You just have to got to the bonsai home site to get them. XDA does not want users going to a potentially competing site to download ROMs.

Gives you the option to donate, but you can download for free. The part that was the problem was forcing you to sign up or register on their web site.
He wanted you to register at his site to download it. No payment or anything, but still kinda annoying.

Supposedly a free download although I signed up for the site and have been waiting for like a half hour to get an email to the download link. But he has asking a donation of $5 to get special perks from the site. It's really too bad I had much respect for Mammon and his roms up until I got home from work and saw this.If he has an odin tar of EC05 it would be nice if he shared it with the community along with releasing his rom.

This. I want the tar to start from (and to go back to if necessary). I realize I can odin the DI18, one click, flash his zip, but that's a lot of steps to get stock.
Ok so if Bonsai devs have made an official EC05 rom. Where is an EC05 tar file or update.zip? Is the EC05 contained in this Bonsai rom what Sprint will be updating on 3/21?

Yes it is ec05. It was leaked to them. They aren't releasing the stock tar file for Odin. You have to Odin the modem

Safe to NAND Restore fr GB to FroYo?

Is it safe to nand flash back to stock-rooted FroYo from leaked deodexed Gingerbread? I ask because I keep reading about folks needing to sbf to get back and the inability to flash other ROMs from the leaked GB. I guess what I'm not clear on is what the bootloader version matters, especially related to nand backup.
Not sent from my iPhone
That's a great question.. I would like to know, too.
from what i have read on another forum, you need to sbf due to the fact that the kernels are different.
No it is not safe you will brick your device.

He flashed the madderstock.zip file. This is almost exactly the same as an sbf except it is in zip form. You CANNOT flash anything else from froyo or you WILL brick your device

If he got it from the TBH app it is the full system 2.3. 340monster zip. It CAN be flashed to get back to froyo BUT:
1) Maderstock zip CANNOT? They are two different filrs.
2)) if you want to go back to Gingerbread and you used the monster zip, you MUST sbf before doing so or you will likely soft brick your phone.
All this has been tried by experienced folks so the rest of us don't get surprises.

Looking for the stock Froyo rom...

I consider myself a search guru, but man finding the right Froyo rom for my Epic has become a nightmare. I just traded my HTC EVO 3D for an Epic plus a few $$$$, but it has a custom rom installed. I like being rooted, but with stock roms.
I plan to go back to the latest firmware updated, then do the one touch root process, but must have the stock rom.
I truly appreciate any help out there
Since you are a Giants fan, I will find it for you. I think I have the stock EB13 ROM that will ask you to update to EC05 immediately after first boot if you want me to grab that one for you..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Go to the Development forum and search for either EC05Plus ROM or ReRFS ROM. Both are mostly stock and prerooted. If you really want stock then go to the top of that forum in the stickies to the one on how to fix a semi-bricked Epic. That has the full stock tar and Odin links then you can root that.
