I know it is a little bit early, but let's start looking for EC05 confirmations/sightings.
If this is like the last rollout, it won't start until like 9PM Pacific ON the day IIRC. Also I don't remember when the .exe appeared on the Samsung site, but who knows if they will even do that again, after the problems with the last version.
may as well post this here... when i rooted EB13 i lost my asphalt demo. will that prevent me from updating to EC05?

I think the official ota but once the devs get it they will post a pre-rooted one and you'll be fine.

There was a EC05 version in the development section, but the petty mods closed the thread already....

XDA rules state that you can't make an xda user sign up for another site to download a rom it needs to be posted on XDA. Thats what i am getting out of the thread being locked.
Petty mods? Posting a ROM on XDA that requires people to register or pay to download is against the rules.

yes, the OTA update will fail for you.

That is not correct. They posted the stock deodexed version of EC05 and Bonsai for all EC05. No payment required. You just have to got to the bonsai home site to get them. XDA does not want users going to a potentially competing site to download ROMs.

Gives you the option to donate, but you can download for free. The part that was the problem was forcing you to sign up or register on their web site.
He wanted you to register at his site to download it. No payment or anything, but still kinda annoying.

Supposedly a free download although I signed up for the site and have been waiting for like a half hour to get an email to the download link. But he has asking a donation of $5 to get special perks from the site. It's really too bad I had much respect for Mammon and his roms up until I got home from work and saw this.If he has an odin tar of EC05 it would be nice if he shared it with the community along with releasing his rom.

This. I want the tar to start from (and to go back to if necessary). I realize I can odin the DI18, one click, flash his zip, but that's a lot of steps to get stock.
Ok so if Bonsai devs have made an official EC05 rom. Where is an EC05 tar file or update.zip? Is the EC05 contained in this Bonsai rom what Sprint will be updating on 3/21?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Yes it is ec05. It was leaked to them. They aren't releasing the stock tar file for Odin. You have to Odin the modem

I'm confused, do we have to odin EC05 before flashing like we always do? Or will flashing this ROM automatically update us?

In theory, you could flash Anderoid's AOSPish 1.4 which will bring your kernel back to 2.1 and then flash the stock J16 rom over that.

DL18 has not come out nor is there any rumor of it coming out. The rumored version are DL11 DL05 DL15 anDL19. If you mean going back to DI18 no there is no way other than to use odin but you can use titanium back up to backup all sys and app data.

Careful recovering a titanium backup from 2.2. on to 2.1, for any release. I rolled back a few days ago in prep for the supposed release today and used titanium. I started getting fcs left and right from several different system apps. I had to re-odinize and install everything manually.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
What you can do after using titanium back up is after restoring find and update.zip and flash that in top. As Long as it is still di18 stock you should be good

That does not revert the modem. To return to Sprint it needs to be completely stock so if someone has an EG22 modem they need to Odin the modem back to EC05.

very true... that will only work if yo uare on an EC05 rom
Small tid bit on ReRFS
ReRFS also drops CWM for recovery, so it's about 99% stock EC05.
I'm sure this would be extremely rare: If Sprint were thorough, they could check for stock recovery and see that you messed with the phone since CWM would be there.
Still a very useful tool/rom to have nonetheless.

I don't think that would matter as much...
The biggest need is the base with modem... and recovery so that we can flash custom roms AFTER that. the custom roms would then be deodexed, and, it time.... would be EXT4.
Noobnl has one posted since last nite repacked its just not deoxed

No.... that one doesn't include the modem. I realize you can separately load the modem, but that just doesn't seem very clean to me.
I don't understand what the holdup is of a smooth packed base.
I completely agree but its good enough to just get on gb and be rooted. So for time being its the best option to keep root and no bootlooping or some work arounds and a lot of flashing 50 things when you can just do 1 flash

We don't have the full modem.bin. all we have is the modem delta. So this is why the ec05 bin was included.
+1 and Deodexed.
That would be perfect. But I would rather sir on my froyo rom that has EVERYTHING I need and wait another week before some of these amazing developers get ahold of it. But it would be nice to have this as my base to start with. I liked it with 2.2

Nothing. We have the modem update file from the OTA, but that's all it is, an update, its not the complete Modem.bin file we need.

My GPS survived the update without incident. I then rooted and flashed.
I agree with the other posters, I did the same as you're trying to do, and while I found it to be a very nice update, I liked the ACS ICS v5 ROM much more. It is EI22 Gingerbread as well.
