[GUIDE] Change touchscreen digitizer Synaptics to Cypress - XPERIA X8 General

The Sony Ericsson company made Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 phone with two type touchscreen digitizers. First type have Synaptics chip, and second have Cypress chip.
Stock ROM have drivers only for single touch, but developers made dual touch for both touchscreen digitizers. Touchscreen digitizer with Synaptics chip have a fake dual touch, and with Cypress have a real dual touch.
I changed touchscreen digitizer and created photo guide for you.

I'm bought it on ebay, but need ask a buyer about type the chip in touchscreen digitizer (Synaptics T1021A or CYC8CTMA)!

Was that what will not damage the device?
and will run smoothly?

With cypress you have real dual touch
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk

It's a stupid question, but the SE 1.6 firmware has drivers for the Cypress digitizer? Or just the Synaptics?
SE made the phone first with 1.6 and Synaptics, so I think there aren't drivers for Cypress.

[Q] Magnetic X10

Hi All
I've been reading XDA for a while, but never posted before - today though, I noticed something really odd with my X10
...it seems part of the back panel is magnetic (it started picking up paper clips!) - i'm not sure if it's always done this or it's something new
It's a very specific spot though - if you pull the back panel off, it's the small rectangle just above the bit that says microSD (though it does it with the back panel on too)
I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following...
1) what's under the rectangle
2) is it supposed to be that magnetic
cheers

Under the rectangle is the flux capacitor , and yes it is magnetic well no its actually the gravitational pull thats cause by it being able to stop time.
All quite normal just whatever you do do not place paper clips near it!

As I've said before, if that rumor is true and the w15 will have simillar (same, except sound chip) hardware as x8 and if it will ship with gingerbread on it, S.E. will give us that update. It happened before with the X10 it will happen with the X8. Just keep in mind that's just a RUMOR.

but i think this phone is for people who dont have the original and want a phone thats cheap with decent specs.

Had a quick look and ppl want a lot more for the S and the Desire ...almost twice the price. So the Crescent is by far the best option at the price.

Other than your finger or any other part of your body, nothing will work on capacitive screen.

Well , You cant use that stylus for capacitive TCs ! But there are many styluses available which have some rubbery stuff at their end ! try Dinodirect.com , They have alot of those styluses !
100% no! You need a capacitive stylus which is usually a metallic body and a rubbery tip. Resistive stylus could be anything which you can apply pressure with.

You can always create a stylus using antistatic paper ..
all you have to do is to tie antistatic paper on the tip of anything. and it will work like any other stylus..

as they have mentioned, yes you can use stylus.
But it MUST be a C class stylus. No other kind will work.
BTW as far as I know, the S-Pen (stylus from the Galaxy Note) is NOT a capacitive stylus so... i think it doesn´t works on any other smartphones, and neither it does on some tablets either.

no you need to buy the one that includes the lcd, it's practically impossible to replace only the digitizer alone and you will see this when you replace your screen I should know because I've done so already (bought only digitizer then replacing broke lcd and had to buy lcd+digitizer)

Is it easy to DIY?
I'm debating whether I should send my unit to LG for replacement, which probably costs $150-$200 or buy the lcd+digitizer on the market (costs around $130-$140 I believe) and do it at home. Don't know if it worth the risk.
Well if you want to know the process there are video tutorial on YouTube that you can watch and if it looks like you can do it yourself then go for it, I did it myself the first time and it wasn't difficult but I have experience in doing this from previous devices

Hey @XxZombiePikachu
I have also cracked my screen - single crack, but digitizer stopped working in lower half of the screen (where crack is).
I have a question WHICH lcd/digitizer/glass did you buy (from whom), and is the LCD the same quality as the original?
For me it is very important to have OEM LG screen - I love the G2 screen and don't want to buy some Chinese knock-off.
Is the brightness same as original???
Please tell. Thanks!

well I had bought it on ebay from power_gamer_usa1, it turned out to be just like original it felt/looked the same and brightness functioned like it should(make sure you buy lcd+digitizer together I know you can buy separate digitizer but it is not worth it the replacement process is far too difficult and you will end up breaking the original lcd and will need to buy another replacement take my word because this was my mistake and I have a lot of experience it taking apart electronics), but of course when buying from ebay you have to be careful and I had just bought one that had original logos/mentioned it was oem and took a risk; have been satisfied with it since then(I bought in December 2013)
