Hi All
I've been reading XDA for a while, but never posted before - today though, I noticed something really odd with my X10
...it seems part of the back panel is magnetic (it started picking up paper clips!) - i'm not sure if it's always done this or it's something new
It's a very specific spot though - if you pull the back panel off, it's the small rectangle just above the bit that says microSD (though it does it with the back panel on too)
I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following...
1) what's under the rectangle
2) is it supposed to be that magnetic
cheers

Under the rectangle is the flux capacitor , and yes it is magnetic well no its actually the gravitational pull thats cause by it being able to stop time.
All quite normal just whatever you do do not place paper clips near it!

I've just gone to charge my phone and it's coming up with a message saying that charging is paused due to battery temperature.
I've not been using the phone and it's not hot.
Anyone else seen this?
I've unplugged it and tried it again but the message keeps appearing.

How hot is your battery? (c)
OP, how hot your batt actually is when this msg pops up?
YOu can get the temp with this simple and light app (one of many ways) called "Disp Battery Information"
I've run my battery up to 50c and it never stopped charging
The message has gone now but I've installed the program for if it happens again. The temp now is 31c. I don't know if that's normal or not.

try *#0228# ... to see temp
Do you have a skin on the phone? There's a reason the official is porous.

What do u mean by skin?
I have Launcher Pro as my default launcher.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
No. Skin as in protective case. The official one is metal to transmit heat and loads of holes all over the case. It looks great.

Will have a look at that case.

Where does it feel hot, around the back camera or the whole back?
When mine becomes hot it usually concentrated around the camera, I guess if it is the whole backside of the phone it might be your protective case as mentioned.
@drspikes
I am interested in the official metal case, the store where I bought my phone didn't provide any accessories at that time. Do you have a part number by any chance?
METAL CASE!? Where!? I have two of the original Samsung cases, they're the mesh or vent cases, but I got them in black and red, and they're plastic. METAL!? WHERE!
I have a friend with a SGS2 and this message is popping now and then with no apparent reason. The phone is not hot or cold. It has no protective skin or case.
When the message appears he is unable to charge the phone. Only a reboot solves the problem.
I passed him the service code and 5 min. after he solved the problem with another reboot the temp was 32ºC.
Nothing unusual there. Also I suspect the temperature could not drop to a regular value in such a short time.
I saw this message on my 1 year old SGS last week for the first time. The phone was being used as GPS on my car, charging, with direct sun on it. When the message poped up I berely could touch the phone. The AC vent quickly solved the problem.
But this is a totally different thing. The phone is apparently at room temp. As soon as he connects it to the USB port, POP, the message appears!
I report as soon as the problem happens again with the event temperature.

That's good to know. I haven't bought a case at all as yet, but I'll keep my eyes out for the official one.
So after having my g2 since February i decided it was time for a change. After looking around on xda for a bit i decided to do the polished battery door, which can be found here. i didnt polish mine as much because i like the brushed look a bit better. but then i wanted to do something with the HTC and G2 logos. best ide was to blacken them. i decided to also make a tutorial for anyone else who would like to.
step 1 - remove your battery door

}
step 2 - find a black crayon
step 3 - rub the crayon over the HTC and G2 logos. make sure to press hard while doing this to get the crayon deep into the logo
step 4 - get a plastic scrubby like this.
step 5 - gently rub off the excess crayon that you put on.
step 6 - polish the battery door with a micro fiber cloth.
if you have done all that you should end up with something that looks like mine in the pictures
Your pictures aren't showing up. Can't wait to see what it looks like
same problem. This seems like a cool idea but i would like to see the picture results first
*EDIT* i have put liks in each step for pics.

Can try using plastidip clear.

That actually looks REALLY nice.. I would have never thought to use crayon to colour in the indentations, props to you. Thanks button hit.
I got some free time in a coupe days so maybe i'll do this. my battery door cover is pretty scratched up and i've been using the phone without a case on lately so this would make it look sweet.
Again, good job!
Thanks and I might see if I can find that plastidip stuff at home depot. And to clarify the only reason there are links instead of pics is because the pics would not show up.
*EDIT* i am in the proccess of do this over with more colors. should be up tomorow.

Even wearing that case it has suffered that bad? It seems that most cases protect only against scratches, unless you have one of those extremely bulky. It makes me wonder why to use a case at all if in the end the damage will be the same. Or would it be even worse without the case? Well, who knows...

Hi guys and girls.
I'm familiar with the crack with the sensor. I have it too...
But know I have something what I didn't hear or read before. My right down corner is melted. (I'm now on vacation in Berlin but when I'm home I'll will post some pics).
Does somebody else have that too? I HAD my phone in a case from noreva. But I truly can't believe that my phone can get that hot that its melting...
And who is to blame? Sony or noreva?
I'd say it was the case.
Have fun in Berlin and post some pics when you're back

after reviewing the pics, i say it's the case.
i only use the leather pouch since the i bought my arc last june, and so far i don't see any peeling on the chrome and paint.
all i see is the "famous" crack near the light sensor
ps. it never gets hot at the buttom area, only on upper area. i think thats where the processor, memory, vga, and other stuffs that gets hot when running heavy duty apps/games
Hi guys me again. I'm back from my quick vacation. I'm glad that i'm not the only person who had this. Its indeed strange because I can't remember when its getting hot in that place. WHEN my phone is getting hot, it is normally around the camera.
Here are some pics together. It wasn't easy to make a close up.
As you can see in the bottom right pic. My case is open in that corner even when the case is closed like on the picture.
.

Hiya guys I've had the most interesting thing happen to my .sg3 yesterday. The only way to explain it is as a spontaneous screen crack! My phone just cracked by itself!! Yes without a lie! It's the most microsceptic crack I've seen and after a few minutes looking at it i decided to measure the location and it's exactly in the middle of the panel! No one believes me and people think I'm stupid. i was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I've done some research and have found that other Samsung phones have done this but there isn't allot of info about it.

Well from what info I've gathered on the web it is very rare!

probably because of the curved glass. Curved things tend to bend when they reach certain point. the gorilla glass 2 being thinner than its predecessor should crack easier especially when bent. Send it back to Samsung, the crack seems natural and is a Samsung fault rather
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe you. My friends AMOLED screen crached but the glass was perfectly fine on his Droid RAZR. It was extremely weird and did not make any bit of sense.
Well see the thing is i didn't even move from my desk at work when this happened! It's so so strange. What would be the best way of contacting Samsung about this , because atm I've talked to official Samsung repair people and they all say I'm crazy and 3 just told me I'm a liar and that i broke it on purpose.
