Bye bye X10, hello DHD

So I've sold my X10 for £177 and have ordered the Desire HD.
Don't think ill be missing the X10. Even with the update its still only got a 65k colour screen, no flash, no multitouch and other things.
Wont be buying Sony again.

What use is that with out a Stargate!

I think ppl are moving to another phone too quick, eventually i personally beleive that the x10 would be a great phone if the update to 2.1 is released.
and if the bootloader is cracked, then the party will really start
i do not mind 65k colors
i do not mind no mt
i do not mind no flash
i do not mind the low volume (although in crowded area's you can barely hear the other side speaking)

We all know Desire HD is better than X10. They have been released in a ... six months time range?

The only reason I'm still holding on to this phone is because I have optimism that maybe we'll get custom roms soon...otherwise, I'm dying to get something else just for flash support!

The X8 is not getting 2.2 or 2.3

It's official, the X8 will not be getting any android updates whatsoever beyond 2.1

No idea, ask sony phaggyson, I guess they think cheap phones with great hardware that are more than capable of running 2.3 still wont get them good money even if they update it..

You're a bit late there.

You can use a custom ROM (for example the Racht's ones) to upgrade your OS Android to 2.2 or 2.3.

Custom ROM has some bugs so it is not fully FROYO and GINGERBREAD but it is in evolve so we will have good custom ROMs in future but BE PATIENT!

Phone with lower CPU can have froyo installed on it. X8 should be sufficient running froyo, either it cost lot of money to support X8 or SE think why should support 'old' series when they can make money from new one with upgrade OS.

I agree. This was my first smartphone, so I had no idea what I was getting; I just wanted a dirt cheap android phone I could mess around with. With all the mods, hacks, and especially racht's custom ROMs (I couldn't believe how crappy the stock ROM was compared to those) I've been able to experiment with, I have a much better idea of what I want out of my next android phone and what it will be capable of. As for SE, you're right: never again.

Agreed. I've just installed my first ROM (2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12) on my X8 and there is no way i am going back to the original!! Works great apart from a few setbacks like vibration not working, unable to move apps to SD and locks on its own sometimes while i'm using it. But having said that it's still much better than the stock OS!!

if it is true, i will never by SE product anymore, i will rather choose I-Phone 4 either than xperia x8

One can always stand on 2.1
I'd change that for 2.3.3 in a heartbeat. That stuff never recognizes people properly.

late is better than never, at least they are listening to customers after they were bagged out for abandoning the x10.

I'm owner of the big X10 but... that's a real pitty for all the other Xperia series owners.

Well it's not really hard for them. They'll just be porting almost all software from the Arc/Neo/Pro/Play to the X10, and maybe adjust some little things. Not that surprising imo.

Is there any difference between those 2 phones ? well other than that W8 is a walkman phone..

Two is same, they are twins.
But for W8, if you want to use X8 Custom ROM, you must flash your phone to X8. Of course with X10flashtool.
About sound quality, nothing improvement i think.
Never mind if youre noob, because yesterday i'm a noob too.!

w8 and x8 same hardware specifications only w8 has a name of walkman, its just like the x8. only difference is the walkman player. well anyone can download a music player on android market

If all of W8 had cypress, maybe Sony want to make an upgrade for W8 and we can port it!
Sony too lazy to upgrade their old style phone and leaving X8 and W8
X8 and W8 have upgrade
Because W8 is Walkman family, not Xperia 2011 family, looks like two is DIDNT GET ANY UPGRADE!

Most likely complete.. There has been just some polishing of the OS.. No major improvement.. The ICS trees work fine with little modification..

For now it seems the only threads that exist are placeholders, apart from the Xperia S CM10 Alpha.
I moved on from CM9 anyway, too unfinished. Though I understand the release is imminent I needed something more stock, and smooth.

i have great hope for CM10 using CM9 and is better than stock ics all the way...
as i know, this rom would be not too unfinished, just because all the source code is a evolution of ics... and the developers kits are updated too to bring and port this code more easly

I've heard some disappointments with CM9 FXP though I haven't tried it myself. Wonder how CM10 would fair...

as i know FXP are working in the alpha release of cm10 for xperia s... maybe when they get a beta, they could work on 2011 devices but just alphas releases... to see a good and stable release they gonna need some time... i guess like months so dont be impatient
