u8800 video playback-recording limit at 22fps - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

our phone cannot record above 22-23fps but it also cant playback above 22-23. For example i took an iphone video sample (720p 30fps) and send it on ideos x5 and it couldnt play it above 22-23 fps it was obvious that it wasnt playing at 30fps. THis happens with all roms. Is this a kernel problem? i hope huawei fix this with the 2.6.35 kernel update coming soon.

Better video recording for the Wildfire?

Is there any option for such a feature on the Wildfire? Would be great if there's even an option for 480p recording. Not expecting 720p/1080p recording, but 480p is at least viewable
I found cm7 stable at 768 MHz. Just tried out video recording at that frquency.
The max was 352 x 288 resol with 25 fps and around 360kbps.
So maybe it is not possible to get 480p. And we should admit the fact that we got a phone with a cpu which is not the best one. The chipset and the presence/absence of gpu also matters to video recording. So I think no hope on that unless a dev works on this low end phone at the moment to improve it just a little bit.
I did find a app which broadcasted live video over wifi. from my wildfire the video was less then 1 frame a second above 240p. From the tab it was ok upto 480p

U8800 IDEOS X5 Video Sample After Official 2.3 Update

Here it is link
Big improvement.
That really is big change. Hopefully developers get that to custom roms!
how about flash video in browser, 720p youtube for example?

just tested it. not a single lag at 720p on youtube with flash on opera. With cm7 it lagged like hell.
Also, the GPU has been fixed so you can forward the video and it will not give you "This video is not available." when watching videos from the internet.

Υeah thats right big 3d graphics improvement, nenamark2 i get 31fps (thats even higher than dual core htc sensation) I updated first post with a new link taken with lgcamera (720p 30fps , acc stereo sound 128 kbps 48khz). The quality of sound and video is better on the file i got on my pc. thats because youtube compressed the file and made it from 8200kbps to 3000kbps
Now we have real 720p recording. for me this was the major improvement of 2.3.5
Could someone also post some photos?
Along with some info (native camera app, lgcamera)

[Q] Defy - 720p playback

Since I can't write a question at the original post (Cause I'm a new member and don't have 10 posts yet), I'll write the question here.

Do the MOD works on MIUI Rom? (Is it CM based?)
Just remembering, I'm talking about the PLAYBACK, I, actually, don't care about the 720p recording... Just need the 720p playback.
Thanks,
K.
720p playback is enabled by default on miui (yes it is cm7 based). That patch isnt required.
Although playback isnt that great. Its pretty laggy
There is a way to play it without lag?
(Actually, i tried to play it before on the MIUI ROM, I thought that it don't play 720p because of the lag, hahaha )
You can reduce lag by:
1) overclocking to 1.1 or 1.2 ghz and set scaling to performance
2) get a better sdcard (higher class)

My Defy can play 720p videos encoded with MPEG4 codec very well yøµ ju$t need to keep the bit rate low below 2mbps

Camera Features - ICS, JB vs GB

Hello everybody, I was thinking about our HD2's camera module, and I realized that we don't have the same features yet from ICS to JB as in GB.
Let me explain this concept better...
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pictures:
Well about pictures I think we can do almost they same things on all Android versions, a little exception for Barcode scanners that works at 99.9% and not fully working, but it is negligible
Videos:
Now we can consider two ways...
GB Videos
ICS and JB Videos
- GB Videos:
Ok, GB videos are the perfection, because we can record up to 720p @ 30FPS (maybe more but I never tried)
- ICS and JB Videos:
Well that's the real point of this topic, because I'm really bored to think that if I need to record something special, probly it could be a crappy video file.
Why that? Because on ICS and JB (never tried JB but I know that we have almost the same lib) the recording is up to 800x480 @15FPS
The resolution is not a real problem, because is enought bigger to watch a great video, but about the FPS??
I don't want to sound like a fanatic who just want to know that have the best in his own hands but he don't see any differences between two things....
But when I watch a video recorded @15FPS I see a stuttered video and it's really annoying, because on GB it was fantastic and the camera module works best it can do.
So my question is:
Can we hope in a better camera in the future?
I'm not saying better than GB but just as good...
HD2 is the King and I think that this can be possible sooner or later :fingers-crossed:
Did you manage to record 720p @ 30 fps on an HD2 in Android? What ROM did you use?
I think it was typhoon 7.2cm but maybe with other is possible too
And just once I recorded at 1080p lol but never happened anymore.
I use LGcamera to record because it allows to set different parameters
Thanks for the tip. I can't test right now because I switched to JB this morning, I would waste the rest of the day i I were to switch back to GB and back.
Lgcamera is great on JB though; the stock app can only shoot video at ~4 fps at the moment.

Really the stock camera on JB is just 4FPS?

You can't, that's BS. No ROMs properly support more than 480p @ 30FPS.

in which ROM did you just do such a thing like that...? :-?
or even 720p recording...? which rom...?
Trust me you can with cm 7.2 typhoon if I remember correctly... I recorded at 720p @30fps with LGcamera pro
Is a big step anyway to get 30fps even if 800*480
so there are roms that can record at 720p?

[Q] 1080p 60fps recording on AOSP

Before i get chastised for asking this. I have tried every camera apk (the lg cameras) for aosp and i cant get a single one to record 1080p 60fps. It will look like 60 fps in the viewfinder before i press record and then the framerate just completely drops . Is there a fix or something i dont know about? Im on the latest build of paranoid android.
