[Q] Which System-Apps can be frozen - Milestone 2 General

Hi there,
I'm about to root my phone during the next days. But I'm wondering which system-Apps can be frozen (titanium backup). Maybe someone might provide a list (or a link)?
Thank you

Down in January there used to be a list here in the forum.
But I guess you'd better go for CM7/MIUI, than frozing apps...

I was hoping that someone still had this list.
I don't want to go for CM7 right now. I thought about doing this step by step.

Reported the Newsroom problem. Reply: "As you know Froyo is not officially released"... ...."We most certainly will though." Just a waiting game now. Too bad it's unusable now and I have reverted back to NewsRob, which works with froyo now.
PS. maybe this thread should be moved to Nexus One Apps and Themes section?
Update: Newsroom wrote a new entry in their blog to address the issue and welcoming bug reports on Froyo. Phew!
Update #2: Newsroom just got an update. Now 2.2 compatible

CacheCleaner updated and now works on FroYo, no apps2sd option
ChompSMS is updated and working beautifully on 2.2
HTC IME updated and working great..no voice input though...or apps 2 sd.
Well here's a new app for Froyo that wasn't possible without root on the N1 before (in 2.1)
It's called LED Flashlight for Froyo.
So yep, non-rooted users can now use the flashlight!
It's very basic at the moment, but the dev said updates will be coming. It works perfect.

Xperia Arc Update 2.3.3 next week

Source:

That is probably 99.9% right, habe never know Engadget to be wrong about release dates of stuff.
By saying next week they probably mean the last day of the next week, so 10 more days to go
ugh, dont know if i like that.... i dont want to have it too integrated with facebook as i do value my privacy. hopefully there's an option to turn it off

To work with Facebook you need to sign in. HTC sense is also really integrated with Facebook (twitter flicker) but you have to sign in. If you don't sign in the function doesn't work.

Yay for 2.3.4. Nay for Facebook integration. I like it the way it is right now. Please make Facebook integration optional Sony Ericsson.
Let's just hope Rogers pushes it out next week as well.
IT IS optional you can turn it completely off from the menu! )
Well I won't update it immediately when I comes out. I'll wait and see if Gingerbreak works on the new firmware. And can unlock the HBOOT.
I hope this update brings the much anticipated fixes for the ARC, it's SO close to being perfect, come on SE!
there is an update on that article, the version of the new android update for the Arc will be 2.3.3
Anyone knows what other improvements will be brought by this updates in addition to Facebook intergration? I left a message on SE product launch blog to Rikard, but didnt get any response yet.
So, I'm wondering if the update is for both LT15i and LT15a.

what Nimche said, but to answer your question, I'm sure if it WERE the case that SE were jumping straight to 2.3.4, hypothetically, yes. This would be possible. I couldn't forsee any issues with it...
Dont care about facebook integration, just hope it fixes that camera battery drain bug.
Correction..
Its not 2.3.4 its 2.3.3 ....
Look again at Engadget.....it has been corrected by them........
Wasn't there a member that had their Xperia Arc already on 2.3.3? Wonder if he has all of these features already...

There are some cool UI changes and the overall experience seems much snappier since I updated to Gingerale (2.3 based ROM). I would recommend checking it out at least, just make a backup and revert if you don't like it But I bet you will.

I'm going to have to agree. Froyo was great to me, but when I jumped to GB... wow. Quicker, looks better and runs smoother. I just got a replacement phone yesterday with 340 on it and I can't believe I actually used it. Tossed 595 on right away But as Schmidty said, you can always roll it back. To each their own, though.
BTW... that Gingerale looks awesome. I'm gonna try it when I get home
Schmidty and Kobalt, is there that much of a diff? New to world of customizing. I do have 2 X's (one on wireless). Maybe I'll give it a try on that one. I'm sure I can find a thread somewhere. You both recommend Gingerale? My real concern is seeing ongoing threads of issues with these various versions of GB (don't know if gingerale falls in that category). But I'm constantly reading and trying to learn more. This damn phone and these forums has created a monster out of me. I tried my buddies original droid yesterday (totally stock). I almost vomited. He's too afraid to do any form of customization or rooting.
You say faster until you actually load it and it includes more crapware and really is barely faster than the custom gb rom you put on the phone.
I'll stick with a rom'd froyo with gingerbread elements in it till a better gb rom comes out.
Do you have a preference serial?

I would way prefer a clean GB install (Cyanogen anyone?), but I haven't seen one for my X that is as stable as .595.
So I will keep my .595 build (rooted and deoxed) until I see something better.
Gingerbread is almost here? Where have you been? I have been running gingerbread for about a month now. The "official" update is just a number
have any of you guys tried Liberty GB? I downloaded the donate version of Liberty Toolbox from the market and installed the Nightly Gingerbread ROM. So far, kinda stable.
Some bugs are:
-Maps crashes sometimes out of the blue
-Calendars won't let you modify or add items
But I have gotten stronger 3g and faster reception, and faster system overall...
Hope to hear a release date of the a final build Liberty GB

I'm in the same boat with the same build. Very happy with it, and not interested in the OTA update, unless .596 is shown to have some wonderful new improvement over .595.
Hey guys i rooted and might of deleted some bloatware do i have to sbf to get it back so that i may get the update
i will be testing the OTA in a few HRS ...now my question is will there be more devs jumping back on board wigh new exciting roms cause i just got this phone 2 days ago and i see no activity and cant even find liverty 2.0 rom or rooting instructions for .340

I just freeze the crapware with Titanium Backup and unfreeze it when it's time to update. Once updated, I freeze it back up again. Worked like a charm for the 2.2 OTA update.
Does anyone know when we can get the release?

2.3.3 update first impressions

The first thing I noticed was the smooth app switching transitions. Then I noticed that deleting large text threads works smoothly for the first time. Then I noticed that the 3g radio wakes up faster. Then I tried 4g where I never ever have gotten a signal before and I get 1 bar. The sense clock has flipping tiles. The update caused me to have to clear the voicemail icon in settings>phone. The browser is snappier and pinch/zoom is smoother. The browser address bar now clears the entire address including the http:// prefix when selected with a single tap.

My first and only impression is a half assed release which is missing quite a few features from the default Google release and white paper.

Music player EQ
Keyboard
Green bits and icons
Camera update
Various effects--App draw for starters
Wider APP2SD use---Motorola \Samsung has it working
These are what I have found so far that is Android standards and are NOT in this update. Plus there is the addition of TeleNav GPS as bloatware that will not get used.
All the above and no Sense update so what was the point in all this and also all the months of waiting for nothing.

It also breaks the Netflix app.
First impression?
Its missing Sense 2.0... WTF? I might as well had stayed with 2.33 beta, my brightness was usually set that way anyway.
*Sigh* oh well, happy anniversary I guess. 35 days to go of it untill I get 3.0.

No Netflix works with 2.3 just not this botched release this morning.
• HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
• HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
• HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2
• HTC G2 with Android 2.2

• Motorola Droid with Android 2.2

I am suprised that they did not add a sence update to this I had expected a sence update and a camera update. I wonder if htc has mad a statment on wht they did not upgrade sence. I really was hoping for the camera update. I have yet to install the update. I am doing it now but once i get installed it sounds like i will be diapointed.

Rooted users are aware of the issue which more than likely is kernel compatibility issues it seems

That's the point. N1/NS/NS4G run ASOP 2.3. HTC Sense 2.3 is just AOSP with Sense and HTC's modifications. If Netflix works on AOSP, and all Android ROMs are based on AOSP (which they are), then Netflix isn't at fault. HTC is.

This is my point exactly.
So far I am not impressed with it. It may be smoother and all but it's the same boring sense. No inclusions of all the cool features of GB like the power widgets from pulling down the status bar. No theme chooser. No over scroll effect. No Screen off animations. **** is pretty gay to be honest. They could have at least made it a little more exciting.
let me answer with a question....could it be any gayyyyyer? lol

you should have tried wiping data and maybe creating a new blur account before going back to froyo.
there are MUCH improvements in gingerbread.
I think the only thing bad about gingerbread is the battery life issues.
As soon as source code gets released on 7/29 we will have people finalizing an AOSP/CM7 build, and that should be much better.
Thanks guys... i was accidentally searching in the general forum, not the dev forum...sorry for the mistake. I'll wipe the gingerbread and try the blur account one more time. I'll keep you posted...

Only thing I hated about GB is how they change the dialer, taking the side-swype away for history viewing. Other than that, even my battery life is good (given, i used SetCPU to underclock when screen off and froze some apps).
