Well, I thought I would get the T-Bolt on launch day because the Incredible needed an upgrade. Well, if you're undecided, I thought I would give my take on it.
Like the Incredible, I was the only person in-line on launch day looking to buy it. The upgrade was fairly seamless until I noticed that the VZ sales rep scratched the piss out of the top and side of the phone. Basically, I said that I don't want to be a jerk, but you scratched the piss out of my phone and I want a new one. After a small debate with the manager, I got my second T-Bolt just minutes after launch day opening.. LOL, really lol.
Anyway, here is what I noticed...
- It's heavy, really heavy. The Incredible is a great weight, the T-Bolt was border-line hand strain.
- To me the screen looked faded and not as vibrant. The T-Bolt was sharp, just not quite like my AMOLED Incredible.
- 4.3" screen is large. My hands are considered a standard mans size and typing with one hand was hell. My thumb was just not long enough to reach the opposite side of the screen for typing. Two-handed is fine and quick thanks to the screen size.
- Battery.. With only a few texts and a couple calls my battery was in the 30% range by lunch. I unplugged it around 6am. The forums were telling users to disable the 4G.. Really? What is the point of this phone then..
- Sound. It's bad. Notifications and ring tones distort bad. I would decrease the volume, but it's hard to hear the sounds the way the phone sits. The kick stand in front of the speaker was a bad idea.
- Bloatware. Plenty of that on this phone. Just like most stock HTC phones. Anyway, rooting and Titanium Backup takes care of all the crap apps.
- Speed. It's quick, sense runs fast and launcher pro ran fast as well. But, the Incredible runs fast enough for me. Running Quadrant and Smartbench gave somewhat similar results on the phones. The graphics were quite a bit faster on the T-Bolt according to smartbench.
Anyway, I think the T-Bolt is a good entry 4G Verizon phone. Personally, I am partial to sub 4" phones. I am going to wait till something a little more refined comes along (4g wise). The DInc is still an awesome phone and still has plenty of life left for me.
BTW, the T-Bolt also has a front facing camera. I was stoked about that, too bad it was mostly useless until a good app is out for it.
Thanks, useful.

Thank you for that review.. good to know the DINC can still hold its own.. my upgrade is next January and maybe we'll see a DINC sized 4G phone by then.
I too am happy with the size of my Dinc ;o)

Hey, thanks for your review. If HTC releases a 4" phone with the Evo 3D's specs, I would be all over that in a heartbeat!
Edit: Minus the 3D (I hope that this 3D fad dies a quick death). 3D r&d money should be spent on battery technology.
Appreciate the info. I'll be keeping my DInc! With Incredibly Reengineered ROM it's as fast as ever with GREAT battery life.

Thanks for taking the time to give us your take on the TB.
About the battery, just remember with any new battery you need to condition it (Fully charge than discharge about 10 times) before you get good chunks of battery life.
I just love the optical trackpad on the Inc, and this is going to make it hard to leave. Unfortunately no new phones have any pointing device besides a full touch screen, and I don't know about you guys but I find it very hard to move the cursor or select text without the trackpad.
I got rid of my iPhone 4 and got the incredible. That's s whole different topic, but it was worth it. Thank you for your comparison!

Well I grabbed the t-bolt really so i can lock in my free unlimited 4G contract and continue to pay 78 dollars a month so thats 4g for the 3g price grandfathered in saving 480+ dollars over the next 2 years more than the price of the 249 on contract price
i swap nice clean refurbs all the time with verizon so a better phone is still in the cards for me just wont be brand new...but with the past refurbs i have gotten i really couldn't tell the difference

My exact feelings right now. Also without the 3D... The Incredible S(2) is said to have a 4" screen and front facing camera. And better battery.
DINC
MIUI
I would get the Thunderbolt, but honestly it didn't impress me that much. Droid Bionic looks better. As for screen size I'm switching between inc and droid X. Inc's screen is too small, but Droid X's isn't as nice. Games run 1,000 x better on droid X. So really the fascinate seemed to be the phone for me... Until the sluggish nature of it came out... So really I need a super amoled Droid X lol. Bionic's resolution may push me over we will have to see... Also I think the Incredible S may be a 4"er will have to see..

I do agree but the optical doesn't always behave the way I would like

I went by on Friday to take a look at the Thunderbolt. I wasn't really impressed because it didn't look like it had the HTC Hub with the navigation. There were just not too many features that would make me want to go out and get rid of my Incredible.
I am at almost a year with my Inc. Personally I agree with the OP. The Thunderbolt is too big for my taste...and sadly the bigger phones seems to be the trend. Hardware is a marginal step forward.
Cant wait for 4g to reach fresno ca but i will not be getting a tbolt

No, you don't. If it was a NiCad then that would be something you would need to do but a lithium battery has no "memory." In fact, a full discharge hurts the battery more than helps. These batteries like to stay charged.

I'm here doing research on my wife's Dinc, I have the Fascinate & just want to add that the lag of the Samsung rfs file system is a thing of the past if you root. Once rooted you can load a debloated, custom rom & install a voodoo kernel & then this phone flies in quadrant, smartbench & real-world performance. Battery life is usually fairly stellar as well. Don't mean to troll or anything, just trying to offer info & experience.
I'm wondering is it actually better than the og Evo?
8mp vs 5 MP camera
1ghz vs 1.2 ghz processeor
Kickstand vs no kickstand (I know not really a big deal)
4.3 in screen vs 4 in screen
Battery...to be continued
Massive dev support vs ??
Domestic radio vs world phone**
(My favorite improvement)
What u think? Is it even better than the 3D? Does the lack of dual core really make much of a difference

for me the absence dual core really makes a difference.
rdia am grateful to for giving me this forum stated he is very good and has lots of variety.
Seems like a decent offering with a solid price point for those not wanting some cutting edge specs. But I don't know if I'd go from a 4G to this, especially locking in for 2 years.
In hindsight I prediro a specification point.

i got my evo 4g on release day, had it for about 9 months and then bought a shift. i then switched to us cellular 3 weeks ago, had a motorola electrify (photon) and swapped it for the hero-s which is the same as the evo design minus the wimax radio and world capabilities. figured i'd post my thoughts on it here since there's no forum for the hero-s.
the camera is absolutely fantastic. i'm assuming the design will have the same one. it's got a f2.2 lens, so it's amazing in low light. i use my camera a LOT and that was a big downside to the electrify for me.
the cpu is a 2nd generation snapdragon, so it's more than just a 200mhz speed bump. it's quite a bit faster. it also has an adreno 205 vs. the 200 as the gpu, which is a significant upgrade. i honestly don't notice much of a difference between my hero-s and the electrify i had. i don't play many cpu/ gpu intensive games, but it's run everything i've thrown at it with ease. it's not a top of the line multi-core speed demon, but i really don't need that. it's fast, everything runs smooth, and that's all i need/ want.
no kickstand, but not really needed. the 4" qhd screen is probably 90% of the reason i went with this phone. the screen looks great, i really like the higher resolution, and it's just so much easier for me to hold. i actually have pretty big hands, but the evo 4g and electrify are just awkward for me to hold. i sold my evo 4g and got a shift because of this, and traded my electrify for the hero-s for the same reason. this should be a great choice for people who don't want a bigger screen.
battery life seems decent. i can make it through the day with moderate use. if i'm driving i'll plug it in if i'm using nav/ maps, but overall it's ok. probably a bit better than my shift and it seems better than my evo 4g from what i can remember of it.
as for massive dev support... oh god i hope there's some action with this phone on sprint, there's not much going on with it on the USC side (at least not yet). i'd think it'll get rooted/ s-off somewhat quickly, but who knows. this thing would scream with cm7 on it, and i'm thinking it'll run ICS just fine.
there's no world phone capabilities on my hero-s, so i can't comment on that. it seems like that would be a very nice feature for people who need it though.
overall, i love this thing. it's very thin, i love the aluminium unibody, the button placement is great, it's very zippy, the screen resolution and size are perfect for me, and the camera is fantastic. i never thought i'd say this, but i actually kind of *like* sense 3.0 too. i think it's a great phone if you don't need the latest and greatest, and if you want a screen that's between 3.5" and 4.3", this might be what you're looking for. hope this helps, and if anyone has any questions about the phone i'll answer if i can!

viva la MIUI
It has the smaller 45nm scorpion core which generates less heat and uses less power, so that's a plus, and I believe clock for clock the Scorpion core is faster than the original Snapdragon 65nm core. Then there's the Adreno 205 as far as visually demanding apps goes.

After reading that, I'm even more excited for Sunday!
pretty sure you'll love it- it's a damned nice little phone. my wife's swapping out her HTC merge (USCC's version of the evo shift) for a hero-s today since she liked mine so much and kept stealing it from me!
i made a mistake in my previous post, the hero-s *does* have GSM/ global roaming capabilities, so it really is very close to the evo design 4g then. it just doesn't have the wimax radio... so i'm hoping hoping hoping that any roms and root methods for the design will also work on the hero-s (like the photon stuff works on the electrify on USCC).
HTC Evo Design longer than Hero S??
Just read dimensions on Evo design 4g - and it seems it is longer (4.8 vs 4.5 inches) than the Hero S? Anyone have idea why as it looks like the same phone?
Is this phone worth a 2-year contract or would I be better off adding $50 or so dollars and buying a used Evo while I wait for the Prime?

The Nexus is tempting (as was Nexus S). But I'm going to stick with my good old Evo 4G. When it came out, it was the 1st superphone and so far ahead of its time that its still not outdated. My phone does everything I need and ICS will breathe new life into it. I don't think any of the new dual core phones are that much better.
My next upgrade will be to a 28mm SoC with integrated LTE that finally gives decent battery life on 4G.
I'm with you, but i do find it very hard not to get sucked into all of the constant hype around here. It is also tough when the devs you like start moving and you feel like you should follow with them. The EVO is still a great phone

Not outdated? Are you joking?
*Weak, single core processor. Dual core procs perform better. Period.
*Terrible, god awful graphics processor. Can't play any decent 3D games properly.
*Weak camera
*Terrible battery
*Average/Below average screen. Blacks aren't really black, resolution is low.
The Evo was(is?) a nice phone, but saying that it isn't outdated is a straight-up lie.
I was just thinking the same thing...the evo has been the one phone that I haven't gotten bored with even though I've had it since July of last year It was much more fun on Sprint but even on Metro (to save money) it's still a great device.

I moved on to the Epic Touch only because I cracked the screen to a million pieces. EVO is an excellent phone and I miss the ROMs but this epic is an amazing phone. We have development going on and it's getting there but I honestly feel like there's a black hole without my EVO haha idk. And don't get sucked into that LOS problem. If your not stupid, you'll figure it out.

I keep going and checking out the new phones and honestly, I have not found another phone to WOW me just yet. I have had mine since almost release day and with MikG ROMs, it runs great for everything I want to do. The dual 1.2 might be faster but not that much faster for what I use it for. I can email, text and watch Netflix on it. Ohe yeah, i make calls too! What should a smart phone do?
I will look at the real HTC EVO2 when it comes out but until them, I will keep my EVO!
I use my Evo every day despite having numerous more advanced devices. Mostly as a hotspot. But after using lots of dual core devices, man....you're clueless if you really think the dual cores aren't a massive upgrade. Evo was a bomb phone at the time, but at the rate tech advances....using my Evo the same day as my G2x or EpicTouch is painful. Every single interaction is slow as hell.
But it definitely holds a place in my heart and is definitely my overall fav of the phones I've own(ed).
Without the Evo, we wouldn't have the 4"+ size as the minimum standard for smartphones, 4G and so much else which is now common. Also it is one of the best supported phones in the dev community, and will be for a while. I can't wait to see what ICS will look like on it.
There is a night and day difference between a stock Evo and a rooted one with a nice Aosp rom like decks/Miui. I honestly don't feel like its slow and I use it for a ton of stuff, except 3d games.
For 99% of people, its more phone than they need, even today. That is not outdated. Not everyone wants to buy the top of the line greatest device, right?
Question for people who moved on - did you notice better reception, gps, or battery life? Besides performance, that's what matters most.
Even though part of me really wants a new phone, for most things, I am satisfied with the EVO.
Part of me kind of wants to wait for mid next year in order to really appreciate the upgrade from my EVO to what will likely be a quad-core beast......imagine the jump in speed upgrading from a single-core to quad, heh.
The Evo is way outdated in the numbers game, but it does everything I need and has a sweet kickstand.
This was also the first and likely only smart phone to wow me. When I first got into smart phones I had my G1 and was familiar with other devices like iPhone but the Evo blew me away the first time I saw one.
My only reason to upgrade was to not lose my upgrade. I bought a phone that I know will sell for big dollars.
I sort of like it now...it's a great phone for when I don't have time to screw with android.
The Evo is far from outdated. Despite it's age, it's hardware is still more than competent.
Yes, new CPUs may have improved instruction sets and/or optimizations to take advantage of, but the Snapdragon in the Evo is still hearty enough to run Android just fine. Although the Adreno 200 GPU is not a monster in the 3D department, it still leverages more than enough for almost any application, including most games.
Ice Cream Sandwich will take advantage of hardware acceleration, which will get more from the Adreno 200 than we ever have before, and should actually make Android run faster and be less CPU-intensive than previous iterations of Android.
The EVO, although dated, is still a strong device. Sure, we all have a desire to upgrade, and if you don't want the Galaxy Nexus you're lying--but honestly, there is little real reason to upgrade. ICS is going to run like a top on the Evo, and reinvigorate most user's experiences with their devices.
The EVO was my first smartphone, and I can say im probably gonna hang onto it for a while more. It does everything I need!

When I buy a new phone, the decision is not 'is this better than my current phone?'. It's 'is this phone good enough to last the next 2 years?'.
Evo passed that test. The Nexus does not. esp not at the $300 price point.
Really at a conundrum though. I love the development of HTC phones. The Nexus intrigues me, but the lack of ROM development for Nexus phones (outside of Cyanogen variants and Miui) makes me wonder if I will get bored.

I would miss my EVO a lot when it comes time to upgrade. Gonna hang out as long as I can. The EVO design isn't too much of an upgrade in my opinion, the EVO 3d really catches my eye but the 3d would just be a novelty played out quickly. The photon is wierdly shaped lol and the epic touch is too thin in my opinion. Just my opinion, don't flame me but I feel like I would break it in my hands.
I'm personally gonna wait to see if HTC releases anything else exciting since I'm not due for an upgrade for another year anyways.

While the processor is only a single core, it still flies in my book. Waiting for a quad core phone... Whew.
The GPU may not be the best, but it does what I ask of it, and that's what matters. I haven't had any problems with 3D.
I'm still amazed by the fact that they put an 8 MP camera in a phone.
The battery life only sucks if you leave it completely stock and don't root it. Find the right ROM and kernel and battery life is dramatically increased.
The HVGA display is plenty of resolution for a phone. My blacks are black and my colors are bright...

I want a HTC Sensation XE but have like a year left on my contract, so I thought about selling my DZ and buying the SXE pay as you go, but the DZ has dropped so much in value now
It's a nice phone, but there are loads on eBay and hardly anybody bidding on them. This is the problem with so many Android phones being released all the time I think...
Do you think I would be able to give T-Mobile a ring, and do some sort of trade-in with them? i.e. send in my DZ, and pay extra on top to start my new contract again with a SXE?
My friend did something similar to upgrade his iPhone on o2 but I don't know if that's an o2/iPhone thing only...
Thanks
Honestly I don't know as I think its a brilliant phone. I do like having the hardware QWERTY keyboard though. It was really overlooked by the then flagship Desire HD and yes, the amount of Android phones out there probably has a massive effect on the resale price.
For a quick sale you could do Envirofone or Mazuma which are showing about £100. Amazon is showing them about £280 new so you probably wont get much higher.

I think the desire z is underestimated.
Most people look at the hinge issue and the 800mhz, and then decide for another phone.
- But the hinge issue is not so big.
If anything, it is good that it is so easy to switch to the keyboard with not much hassle.
- The 800mhz of the second generation processor is faster then an 1ghz first generation processor, and at the moment it is even underclocked by htc. So it has much more power under its shell.
- It has dedicated camera button
- An easy to open battery lid
- Good speakers
- Good Headset
- Very good Music Quality
- Touchpad
- Led flash
- Good sized display with high resolution and ppi
- Hardware keyboard
- Very fast adreno205gpu (4x faster then the adreno200gpu)
- 512mb ram
- 1.5gb rom
- Android with Sense
- Good voice quality
- 5mp Camera with HD recording (videos that i made with it*)
- Very good battery duration (even more with incredible-s battery)
- MicroSD Card Slot that holds up to 64gb at the moment
- Fast UMTS/HSDPA+ (14,4down / 5,76up)
and so on...
What more could one want?

It's a really underestimated phone. The QUERTY/Z (german) keyboard is the reason why I bought it a half year ago and up to now, I wouldn't buy another phone. I just love it^^.
And when you root it, you can easily overklock it to 1,2 ghz or higher and it still runs very, very stable.

Not me. Although I use my macbook pro, and sony a300 for computing and photo needs, this phone is good for what I need.

I've accepted the fact that I'll most likely not sell my g2 as by the time I upgrade to something new it'll be maybe a $100 phone, if that. The more new gen phones that are released the more the g2 will decrease in value. It's already starting to happen with the sensation, look on ebay. The sensation used to sell for over $400 on ebay but lately it's only been around $300, mainly because everybody wants the amaze and gsII now. Yes, the g2 is a really good phone but it's over a year old now, which is ancient for tech.
Don't get me wrong, like the rest of you I love my phone, at 1.2 ghz it's just as fast as a stock sensation, if not faster.
The Desire Z is an good phone. Though it would have been better if it had more ram

768 ram would be perfect!
but desire z is a vfm headset!
love it
wow htc dz/g2 is really underestimated. nothing more convenient to me than an option to switch from visual to physical keyboard. the 800mhz cpu is underclocked tho. i am running 1.1ghz and it works like what a smartphone supposed to work.
Yeah, my friends htc incredibles are all glitchy and battery drains. My G2 is never let me down, now that I rooted it and put cm7.1 on it I am happier than before.

My desire Z means a lot to me. i don't think i will sell it and get another one.
You may try post you cellphone here and see if any people in this forum will buy it for some other uses
Why is the Desire Z so worthless?

Worthless? WTF? What are you smokin?
You are damn lucky to find a new one on ebay for less than $350, I would call that amazing resale value for a phone that is over a year old.
Like any great phone, if you kept it in great condition, it is still worth a lot, on the other hand, if you beat yours to hell and back, then maybe not so much!
I'm quite satisfied with my desire z. I rooted it the first day I got it, and flashed CM7(don't care for sense). I have it running at 1113 mhz, along with juicedefender, the phone then runs smooth, without hogging the battery.
I love the flip out keyboard, but I see the problem with it sliding out in the pocket. As a solution I've bought a pouch for it, which also comes in handy since I have ditched my wallet, and now carry all my cards in the pouch as well.
Only downside is, if I lose my phone, i'm pretty much screwed.

768 MB is a little on the lower side. To run multiple apps like Firefox when you have sense, 1GB would be more adequate.

love this phone... couldn't live without it...
now leave britney alone!
Oh, don't get me wrong I love my DZ, but I feel like upgrading...
The XE is a dual core 1.5GHz so should easily last 1.5-2 years without falling behind, and also, if it's been rooted, it can be under clocked to 1GHz dual core or even less (800MHz dual core) which would still make it quick and improve battery life a lot which is very important (to be fair, I do charge it every night anyway but it can just last two on one charge with my DZ already with light use)
Also, I use it for a few hours every day on the way to/from work listening to music so the enhanced audio is a big plus for me (although still need to read up and make sure it really is a big improvement) and it looks really nice too. Plus, the hardware keyboard isn't much of a deal breaker any more...it was at first, but now I just use Swype all of the time
By worthless, I just mean it seems to have lost a lot of value compared to the price of a new phone (I was thinking about just selling my DZ, and buying the SE pay as you go and keeping my contract)
Decisions, decisions!
At the current pace, ALL phones depreciate value very quickly. End of discussion.
the G2/Desire-Z have held a higher % or their original value after over a year than any phone I can think of, they still command about 70% of the launch price for new ones on ebay - WOW!
so I would call it the far end of the "worthless" scale, all other phones of similar age are MORE worthless!!
and the reason for such high resale value is, people have realized what a great phone they are, the last phone before the manufacturer's really started cheaping out, what other phone combines great looks, style, reliability and speed and has a GREAT keyboard? - answer me that, and I will upgrade my G2 - the problem is, there are none!
I've had my Desire HD for around 8 months now and I've been nothing but impressed and bedazzled by it, it's the first true smartphone (and android) I've used other than the poor iPhone #1 gen and I still love it to be pieces, looks beyond sexy (still yet to see a phone with a 4.3"+ screen look as good or better), is more than enough power even though dual core phones or better are strutting their stuff and the con list is short.
However, I've still got the phone for another year and a bit (two year contract) and although I welcome the time to come I'm always a little worried it'll be dropped in terms of development, my main concern is if this 1ghz snapper will remain strong throughout future renditions of Android? It'd be a shame to have this phone lose it's shine as technology advances and that's a given in today's quickly progressing world.
Any replies are appreciated, thankyou!
just stick with it and look into rooting. By the time your contract is over you'll have many great phones to choose from. Always research before committing to any device....or woman lol.
sent from the Penh.
I agree with every word, this device is the best phone I ever owned
you should consider rooting, this phone s2 CPU can go up to 1.5ghz easily, just like the sensation XL, android revolution ROM is based on stock the latest is based on sense 3 OTA and also offer a slight boost to GPU
check the info in my signature to take this beast into its full potential
I can easily wait for quad core + HD display it better be unibody too
Is it going anywhere? No. Tech moves to fast, as shown by the fact that HTC doesn't currently have the DHD on their ICS curve. It's an impressive enough piece of hardware that I'm sure it will eventually get ICS, but you'll get it much sooner by being rooted and watching for cm9, or anyone who gets there sooner.
That said, this is such an awesome phone, if you aren't the type to break your contract and spend 600 to move to the Galaxy Nexus, the next greatest early adopter phone...
Enjoy it

It's probaly gonna be abandoned by htc soon, but you can always root + overclock + cm9 ;d
Howto root recently updated hesire hd, its sense 3 now.
I am pretty happy with it. my first android phone and it lived upto its reputation.
Couldnt have been better.
Also regarding future, I think it has a long way to go. (recently installed ICS and its awesome)
HTC released sense 3. maybe they may go one step further to ICS
All we can do is hope. (otherwise we have XDA )
Agree with you. I have had it for 12 months and finally decided to root. Went with RCMix3D Runny 4.0 and it has transformed my phone. Great to use and battery life much improved from stock. Do it you wont be disappointed.

I love my DHD and ICS is on its way......don't see the need to upgrade until all the devs move on !

I was in the same mind set as you, great phone but Hhhmmmm...
Then last week I flashed the phone to Android Revolution 6.2.0 and now I have the phone I want (it is literally like having a new phone) and it's to a degree future proofed it until my contract runs out in a years time.
Root your phone and take and change the ROM, you won't regret it, I certainly haven't
I don't find desire HD that attractive when i have SGS+ and sony ericsson xperia arc s at home owned by my sister and my father.
This phone lacks a normal (1500mAh) battery, i mean what was HTC thinking when they placed 1250mAh battery there...my old san francisco running at 600mhz has 1250mAh and it makes sense, a front facing camera
and weight is too much to pull my jeans down so that i can sag although it can be a plus point for some people but definitely not for me.
Anyways i still own it, i still plan to keep it...so what do i say? it's ok i guess.

You could always buy a belt
A bit more on topic, I think your good with the dhd for at least another six months to be fair. There's a lot of handsets being released right now that are only just catching up with this beast, many with less ram as well. Although these are now the mid range/cheaper handsets this means that apps need to be written with this in mind so there shouldn't be any problems in that area. Throw in the fact that you can overclock, theres ics on the horizon and the overall build quality and you shouldn't have anything to worry about with this phone.
how would this phone be if I get a good secs for $300

A little too much perhaps.
I wouldn't want to sell mine anyway. Bought it in dec 2010; owned it, loved it & flaunted it & its got more in it. Never had a problem (hardware) at all even though I constantly keep doing this to it (change ROMs, OC, etc)
Overall, it's a great phone. It would be sad if HTC stops pushing OS updates for it. But then again, who needs the manufacturer for updates
how much would be fair?
Thanks for reply
About 200€ is about right, check ebay. There's more bravos and sensations on there than dhds though so that'll tell you something about this phone. Dhd owners tend to love their phone
Love the phone. Hate the battery life though.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Battery life is a bit crappy but I'm managing over a day between charges with the latest its update which is good enough. Plus everywhere I go has somewhere that I can charge up, on e you're used to the charge cycle its not a problem. When I bought the phone I bought an extra battery and I've not used it once so it can't be that bad

Rooting my DHD with Android Revolution turned a useless lump with at best 6 hours battery life into a true performer. It's definately the way...
I have to agree that changing from stock firmware to a ROM massively helped battery life for me. Have played with Sense, AOSP and MIUI ROM's - currently running ICS. Battery life in all cases has been better than HTC stock. You have to wonder who sets up the software they ship with really
