[Q] DREA210 Became DREA100 after JTAG - G1 General

Hi,
Please Somebody explain why my Rogers Dream Which has written DREA210 on the label under the battery cover with the correct IMEI has turned and is now showing DREA100 in the bootloader (Camera+Power)
Secondly i now have T-Mobile 1.6 with myfav.apk which i dont want cause it eats up all my credit sending messages.
Third problem, My Hardware Keyboard Layout is messed up too it type Y on Z key and Z on Y and a few more symbols
and Most Importantly its show correct colours on the Camera preview but after taking the snapshot, the pic turns greenish while it does not have any problem in the recorded video
Please Somebody Help
This all is really confusing
I have tried many ways like
Rooting with JesusFreke
using su keylayout method
replace camera apk and odex
nothing works
and even the G-Sensor akmd issue stays
and since now i have 1.6 t-mo
i cant even put akmd
Please im so confused and lost!

*bump* I also have the same problem.
How would I go about rooting and flashing a new rom, I don't want to brick my phone again. :/

who did your jtag for you? sounds like you got a european version. qwertz instead of qwerty keyboard, would also explain drea1000
i doubt simply flashing a new rom would help, you can try changing your radio/spl

Thanks for the reply.
I got it done through MobileTech Videos - http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/ - I tried contacting him, but he hasn't replied
My phone is a Rogers Dream - and on the back plate the model number is DREA210. When I go into fastboot, it says it's a DREA100 (A T-Mobile G1?).
The radio is 1.22.12.29, and hboot is 0.95.0000. It does however, correctly tell me that I have a 32B board on the phone, as it previously did when the phone was functioning.
The Rom flashed onto the phone is a T-Mobile G1 Rom - or atleast the carrier boot screen says it is a T-Mobile G1, and the person who jtag'ed it said it was a T-Mobile rom - I haven't been able to look at the Rom info (android version, etc) as I don't have my data plan activated to get past the google sign in..
Edit:
Just to clarify: I have a rogers dream (DREA210), and the jtag flash was done with a copy of a T-Mobile G1 (DREA100) - so fastboot was showing DREA100. So basically I treated it like a stock t-mobile G1 since it has the same Radio/hboot, and not the Rogers stock Radio/hboot, and the hardware is pretty much the same (AFAIK)...
I used these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098899
and it worked fine. The ROM I had was the stock version RC29 (Android 1.0) - So I just skipped the downgrade step. (and used fastboot to flash the 2708+ radio)

The radio images at modaco are for the HTC Hero. I was wondering whether or not this radio update would work on my Magic... Try looking in the development section for the newest original magic firmware RUU (it's the official HTC method of updating). This update contains a correct magic radio image (amongst other things). The RUU package should include a readme on how to apply the update. The screen you are seeing on your phone is the original recovery screen so at least we know that your device is not bricked!
Hi,
I'm on the same situation .... my HTC magic not boot. But on my case is impossible run the update menu.
how can I install the original Radio for saphire?
thanks for your suggestions,
This is interesting.
I was considering flashing that EUROPEAN radio to my spare phone (HTC Dream) to basically take the 50/50 chance to see whether or not it would actually register and comply with the device.
So, it's confirmed that this method DOES NOT WORK...correct?
Which radio did you flash again? I'll double-check the link. And which update did you attempt to apply? The 2.1 Hero version of the build...? As in the "enhanced" port. That won't be available for the Sapphire (32B) for a few days. Paul @ Modaco-ANDROID said he is working the kinks out, then fashioning an enhanced version for the Sapphire and apparently the Dream as well.
Hi,
thanks for your reply ... but now, my problem is recover the htc.
I try to entry on the Recovery tool and run fastboot, etc ... and nothing work's ....
thanks for your help
Hmph. That's not a good sign.

Not to say you shouldn't be on the optimistic side of this...but from what you've stated; sounds like you have just created a $300 paper weight! I'm sorry.
If you cannot boot into recovery, cannot run fastboot, and from what I understand you cannot power on your device into a normal loading...that's a serious set of problems. Potentially permanent ones.
NOW, all things considered...have you tried ADB? Can your computer detect the device to run ADB? If so, you might have some luck in that department to uninstall whatever you've done or possibly re-flash the appropriate radio and SPL.
Search tutorials. I cannot offer further assistance for your particular situation. It's in your hands now.
I'm in the same boat.
I'd be interested to find out what this screen actually is. I thought it might be a recovery image but adb devices does not return any information.
None of the usual key combinations to get to hboot or fastboot or recovery will work.
I have the latest rogers update ruu and will try to run that and see if it works.
Wasn't able to use the rogers updater as it wouldn't see the phone.
Spoke to HTC support who seemed not to know what the box with the arrow pointing to a phone screen meant.
They are collecting tomorrow and will re flash it for me.
Whether someone will be able to tell that I was flashing a new, apparently incorrect, radio we'll just have to wait and see.
radio
i have the same thing i tried to install a different radio on the cyn 10.1.1 rom and i had teh same recovery logo. i tried everything. i thing our phone is bricked. i called rogers and they will send me a new phone as i told them i used the rogers update tool. next month ill see if they will charge me for the damage or not.
My phone is back with HTC for repair. Initially they said they would re flash it, but now I understand that they are replacing the main board. It looks like the problem is pretty terminal!
I have same problem, is there any solution for this?
same situation here,any help?
For now there is no solution, maybe serial cable in blue led mode or jtag can help,
read about it in G1 section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591048
This problem is caused by failed radio rom update, I think JTAG will help, but problem is we dont have pinouts for magic. So if anyone have magic with water damage can help us finding pinouts for jtag.

Same problem , but you should go back and download your same SPL & Radio that came with your and go into fastboot and flash theme to your phone , then flash the correct recovery img for your phone model , and hopefully you are good to go , hope this helps .
PS : should be done through your PC , good luck
Magic with box.arrow problem cant go into fastboot mode!

Same problem, not posible solution?or i have to sent to Repair in warranty?

G1 32b flashed to dream 32a rom,can't flash back

I have a black G1 with a 32b board,I found a rom online that was for the rogers dream,I didn't think it would flash the recovery image too,so I flashed it thinking if it didn't work I would be able to just flash to a different rom. That didn't work. it boots up as a rogers dream, and is fully working, but I can't flash back to anything else because it's a stock recovery image, and even though I had the engineering spl,it messed that up too,it still shows the skateboarding androids, but with a cyan stripe at the top of the screen and it won't even flash the htc images for the dev phone,or the normal rc29 DREAIMG.nbh. anyone have any ideas? fastboot tells me remote not allow, bootloader to the DREAIMG.nbh says either main version old,or model id mismatch, most of the time it's the main version thing though, and the recovery thing tells me no signature found if I try to flash the htc images and verification failed if I try to flash anything else that i've tried. anyone have any ideas? it was the 911 mandatory update from rogers that was supposed to also add sense if that helps anyone any.
1) THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 32A DREAM!!!!
32A means SOME HTC MAGIC, and ALL HTC HERO.
ALL DREAM 100% WORLDWIDE are 32B
*** NO EXCEPTIONS.
2) You need to provide more information: WHAT did you flash to the device.... SPECIFICALLY. And HOW DOES EVERYTHING IDENTIFY ITSELF, i.e. SPL, BASEBAND, KERNEL, etc., does the "su" command work?
3) I have ZERO expectations for you. Anyone with a screen name of "msnuser" is not worthy of android.
it's the rom from comment 102 on this page:androidforums.com/rogers/38624-rogers-update-911-fix-rogers-htc-dream-magic-ready-3.html the rom says on the recovery screen dream PVT-32A and it used to be PVT-32B. Not sure how it worked or how it booted, but the phone says it has 87mb free on the internal storage and it runs a lot quicker than it did on any rom I've ever used before,I just miss my rooted apps. I traded phones with my brother because he never uses rooted apps anyway,he was running stock tmobile firmware and was glad to have a faster os.

how to re-root my phone again?

Hi all. Im having a little trouble with my phone and I need help. Ive asked in a few forums but Im not getting much responds from them, so I thought I would try here. Im sorry if this is in the wrong forum. If it is, mods please move it to the appropriate forum.
I am from Hong Kong and I bought an HTC Magic. I also downloaded the upgrade from HTC which puts HTC sense in my phone. I decided to try rooting my phone one day so I followed a walk through/how to on rooting and flashing. I put CM 5. 0. 7 rom on my phone and tried it out. After a few days, I decided that the new rom wasnt for me. I missed the HTC sense, it was draining my battery, there were a lot of features on the phone that I cant use (due to my location), so I wanted to revert back to the stock rom. After looking around, i found a write on how to unroot the phone. It was simple enough so I thought i would give it a try and see how that goes. Well it worked, my phone is back to 1.5, but my Magic is now a myTouch3G. This rom was worse that before!! I cant write anything to the SD card, the camera function doesnt work. I would much rather stick to my rooted rom than this base rom. Starting to really kick my self in the ass for rooting my phone to begin with. I started researching on how to root my phone again, but its proofing to be a lot harder than I thought. Ive tried rooting my phone the same way I did before, but installing the 3. 05. 401. 1 test rom failed, the program wasnt able to flash it. Ive tried the 3. 22. x root method and that didnt work (I think its because my radio isnt 3. 22. x or 6. xx. x), i wasnt able to flash a new recovery image to my phone.
I called in HTC in Hong Kong and asked them if they can help me revert back to my old factory rom, but they pretty much told me that the only way to do that is to replace the motherboard which is costly. Ive asked shops which specializes in hacking phones and repairs and etc and pretty much everyone I talked to dont root android phones anymore, the only work on iphones.
So I turn you fellow xda-ers to help me root my phone again. I know CM has a new rom out...the CM 5 .0 .8 test 4 or if there is a 2.2 froyo that would be great (but dont know the stability or if my phone could handle it)

I have done the exact same thing!
You need to make a goldcard, which after 4 different mirco sd cards I cant get it to work. I make one and it just comes up cid incorrect. Bloodly htc and there perfect spl.
My magic will soon be in the bin and I will be buying a Desire or Iphone4.
Good luck
Ive tried 2 SD cards and it didnt work. Maybe i need to try more cards until I find one that works.
Get the desire, screw iphone 4 =P
Yep I know what you mean about Iphone, I hate apple with a passion. But HTC and their perfect spl Im begining to hate them equally. Tried another micro sd today still no luck.
stu-k
are you having trouble making a goldcard, or having trouble rooting, flashing uploading anything after unrooting?
i dont think its the goldcard's problem, but just how the phone is "screwed up" after unrooting
Yeah had trouble making goldcard but someone linked a goldcard maker program which worked a treat. Rooted again and running cusorsense.
Will never go down that unroot path again.

[Q] flash without android activation

i was given a lost or reported htc magic 32b, dude just wanted a newer phone
so it got blacklisted, im using it as a test phone to learn rooting flashing roms etc
i made a goldcard i copied the sappimg.nbh and FlashRec files etc and all went well, then i get to the welcome screen emergency call change language
i cannot go any further if plug in the usb cable i get nothing, as i cannot activate
the phone to get into menu add the rest of the files to flash etc i have sdk working but like i said it does not see the phone, as i said i am using it as a tester for my actual working htc magic 1.6 that i want to flash cyanogen rom.
i thought id rather brick the blacklisted one as it wont work anyway, before i try the methods on my working one.
Moving to General
bump any ideas plz
I don't think you can.. I tried that without data plan but noway to pass the activation for mytouch 3g. just use your other mytouch simcard (assuming you have dataplan) and activate it..then do all the rom install.. from then on..you don't need the dataplan..you will have a skip option with all roms...
(borrow friend's sim for few seconds to activate)
(get the dataplan and cancel it when you think you don't need it)

[Q]no signal received after flashing rom

I am a wildfire user from HK, and recently I rooted and flashed CM7 nightly by the procedure form 3xeno:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Following is my case:
Since I have already OTA updated into 2.2.1 froyo, I downgraded the HBOOT and rooted with revolutionary method. Then I flashed CM7 with no problem occurred.
However I used the setcpu to overclock my device into 768MHz and i ticked the set on reboot by accident. I cannot reboot into CM7 loading screen so I flash the CM7 rom again and boot my device successfully. Then I also flashed the most updated kernel provided by 3xeno above. I haven't pay attention to the signal service since this point, no signal can be searched no matter what I did. I have already checked the APN setting and also doesn't work. The battery drain very fast (cell standby 82%) unless I turn on the airplane mode.
I reckon this is the problem of kernel/radio, and some developer said flashing radio is risky, so I flashed the RUU rom from Shipped ROM instead. I have tried both froyo and eclair RUU, even though some of the eclair disabled the touch input, but all the RUU cannot bring my signal back. Since the RUUs i flashed were with different radio version. I can still see the baseband version from setting=>about phone=> software information. The wifi can work with no problem.I didn't know what's wrong.
I have googled a lot and read a lot of threads in xda but still no idea. I decided to send it for repair. What should I pay attention to it before sending it for repair?
Maybe I forgot to mention something
In setting=>about phone=>Phone Identity
Model number : HTC Wildfire A3333
Phone number: Unknown
IMEI and Device serial number: same as the label under battery
IMEI SV: 01
In setting=>about phone=>Network
Operator name: Unknown
Signal strength: 0
Mobile network type: Unknown
Service state: Out of service
Roaming: Not roaming
I have tested my device with my friendsss' SIM cardsss, and the problem still persist.
ALL of the SIM cards, including mine, work well on the other phones.
Moreover, when I press down+power button, some sentences shown up:

after that it returned to the HBOOT menu and all become normal. They keep shown up no matter what RUU or CM7 rom I flashed. Is it a normal case or a sign of losing signal??
I have also installed the darktremor for app2sd before i flashed back the stock rom from RUU.
Sorry for my bad English.
Since you have s-off'ed your device with revolutionary, you have a custom bootloader, and thus no waranty anymore.. So it can and will cost you.
I don't know what is wrong with your phone.. perhaps stupid, but have you already tripple-checked your APN settings?
Erwin
Thanks for your suggestion. I've triple checked for the APN setting and sure that it is correct.

As far as i know apn has nothing to do with ur network unless you enable/ use gprs/3g internet connection.apn means access point name, and so it have nothing to do with the calls or network. I think ur problem is with radio, as u have a3333 u can try flashing a new radio, and some ruu does not contains radio,if it is a moded one,so there are chances that u have used one of them, go for it , try a new radio.
And in worst case it is a hardware problem,in which ovclck had done some thing wrong with ur processor or the radio module(hardware).in that case dont try to get ur motherboard replaced by htc, since u r out of warranty it will cost u a lot, so buy a new phn, nxt time go for wildfire s.

Learned something new here
I would try the same as what howlyshah suggests: reflash your radio, without the whole blabla of RUU's.
You can try first the latest radio (ending with 20.10). If that doesn't work, you can try the one ending with 19.25.
The process is indeed not without risk, but so is s-off'ing and rooting your phone, and you did that already Just make sure that you have enough battery, you don't interrupt the process and be very patient (for example, it could be that the first boot takes longer than usual).
You can find the radio's in the wildfire index.

This is really really really normal. It is simply your bootloader searching for an update file. For example, if you are S-OFF and you rename an zip-file that you want to flash to PC49img.zip, the bootloader will automatically ask you if you want to flash that file (so no need to go into recovery). If you are S-ON, that will only work if the zip-file is signed by htc, of course.
Good luck!

Really thanks both of you! Finally I downgraded the CWM into v2.5.0.7 to flash the radio. I have flashed the radios ending with 20.10 and 19.25 and the problem still exists. Maybe it is the hardware problem.

Thanks so much but I am a little bit confused by what you mentioned "out of warranty". Since I am still in the warranty period, is it still eligible if I flash the RUU froyo asia HK and flash the HBOOT 1.01.0002(S-on)? Or are you talking about the motherboard replacing service is out of warranty and they will charge me for the motherboard?
I am decided to buy a better phone now, I think it is a really good excuse Thank you guys!
Ya you have broken the security that htc implimented to protect their custom android os,which they use in wildfire,by s-offing ur phone.you can how ever fool them by flashing an ruu,and the s-on the drevice. I think there is some way to s-on the device.search the forum, u will find it, else flash an old ruu, like 2.1 or lower, connect to pc suite, update ur phn,and maybe htc will again update ur phone, and s-on it(i never tried it, but i think it will work,as most companies do the same like se,nokia etc), then you can get ur warranty back, save a bucket of buckz

The alpharev hboot has a version number 6.x The hboot from alpharev AND from htc are protected against downgrading: you can not install one with a version lower then 6 ATM. So flashing a RUU will NOT work.
Btw, we didn't broke the security, the phone is still S-ON. But the hboot thinks it's S-OFF.
However, I tought I've read somewhere here on the wildfire section a way to downgrade the alpharev hboot to a htc one. So you can take a look indeed.

For maybe some more like me that want to go back to what it use to be with the hboot S-OFF, S-ON issue.
I had my phone S-OFF with alpharevx beta. Used CM7 -stable for couple days but decided i wanted to go back to all original. I first RUU my phone with the RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe file. Boot it up, made sured it runs, then did what is instructed below here;
To be able to do this you need HTC USB drivers installed. Install the HTC pakage, reboot, uninstall the HTC-
Sync software, keep the drivers! reboot PC again.
Power off your phone. Plug in your USB cable to phone. Press volume down and powerup your phone. After it
settle navigate down and choose fastboot option.
1. Unpack these files to your c:\fastboot
2. Open up your windows command promt (WinVista/7 users rightclick choose run as Administrator)
3. in command promt type CD\ then press enter
4. then your should be in C:\
5. type cd fastboot
6. then you should now be in dir C:\fastboot
7. Im bored to death typing, look below. Beware of each command ends with enter. After success, reboot.
C:\fastboot>fastboot oem mb 9C068490 1 30
... OKAY
C:\fastboot>fastboot flash hboot hboot_buzz_7225_1.01.0001.nb0
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... OKAY
writing 'hboot'... OKAY
Files needed (Windows version): megaupload.com/?d=UO9L74I9
Works perfectly for me.
* NOTE: Im not responsible for your phone if you brick/kill it. These steps worked for me!

Thanks to all of you! All of your suggestions are useful and I finally got my wildfire S-on(fastboot: flash into Hboot1.01.0001, then flash RUU and become Hboot 1.01.0002) and sent to HTC for repairing. Finally they replaced the main board and it now works perfectly.
I am so scared my device will be broken again, so I want to seek a full guide here before I S-off, root and flash a new ROM again because of some bug of the stock ROM.
Q.1
Sometimes when I receive a call, I cannot unlock the lock screen, seems the touch screen is not working while ringing. Every time I encounter this problem, I have to reply the call after the the device stop ringing. It is really troublesome for me. Is flashing another ROM the only solution for solving this problem? any ROM suggestion for this problem??
Q.2
Before I sent the phone to repair, the Hboot 1.01.0002will check for update:
(SD cheking...
loading.. [PC49DIAG.zip]
no image!
etc..)However after HTC sent me back the repaired phone I found that the Hboot now do not search for the update anymore. In case I break the phone again by S-off, rooting andflashing a new rom, I need to S-on the phone again. But I am quite sure that If I S-on the phone again, the resulting Hboot will search for update and therefore different from the original Hboot after the phone repaired.
My question is: Is this device in the warranty in this case?
Q.3
I am also looking for a ROM supporting APP2SD/APP2EXT/Dalvik-Cache2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT system (I am quite confused with the difference between them even after googled, can anyone tell me that?), any suggestion of the ROM supporting it?
I have used Darktremor before my phone broke for the app2sd but It is quite difficult to use since it involves inputing some command in the terminal emulator (and so scared to break the phone again by this). Actually it is very good, but I prefer some user-friendly apps that can perform the APP2SD/APP2EXT/Dalvik-Cache2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT system.
I found some apps, for example, simple2ext(S2E) and link2SD but I dunno the pros and cons between them.
My question is, which system moving apps into sd card is most suitable for wildfire??
Thanks for your help!!
