I have a black G1 with a 32b board,I found a rom online that was for the rogers dream,I didn't think it would flash the recovery image too,so I flashed it thinking if it didn't work I would be able to just flash to a different rom. That didn't work. it boots up as a rogers dream, and is fully working, but I can't flash back to anything else because it's a stock recovery image, and even though I had the engineering spl,it messed that up too,it still shows the skateboarding androids, but with a cyan stripe at the top of the screen and it won't even flash the htc images for the dev phone,or the normal rc29 DREAIMG.nbh. anyone have any ideas? fastboot tells me remote not allow, bootloader to the DREAIMG.nbh says either main version old,or model id mismatch, most of the time it's the main version thing though, and the recovery thing tells me no signature found if I try to flash the htc images and verification failed if I try to flash anything else that i've tried. anyone have any ideas? it was the 911 mandatory update from rogers that was supposed to also add sense if that helps anyone any.
1) THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 32A DREAM!!!!
32A means SOME HTC MAGIC, and ALL HTC HERO.
ALL DREAM 100% WORLDWIDE are 32B
*** NO EXCEPTIONS.
2) You need to provide more information: WHAT did you flash to the device.... SPECIFICALLY. And HOW DOES EVERYTHING IDENTIFY ITSELF, i.e. SPL, BASEBAND, KERNEL, etc., does the "su" command work?
3) I have ZERO expectations for you. Anyone with a screen name of "msnuser" is not worthy of android.
it's the rom from comment 102 on this page:androidforums.com/rogers/38624-rogers-update-911-fix-rogers-htc-dream-magic-ready-3.html the rom says on the recovery screen dream PVT-32A and it used to be PVT-32B. Not sure how it worked or how it booted, but the phone says it has 87mb free on the internal storage and it runs a lot quicker than it did on any rom I've ever used before,I just miss my rooted apps. I traded phones with my brother because he never uses rooted apps anyway,he was running stock tmobile firmware and was glad to have a faster os.

I rooted my MT3G early on using the goldcard method - it is currently running the RAv1.1.0h rom from the original rooting thread. It has the 1.33.2005 SPL and the 3.22.20.17 radio. In fastboot I can see that it the SPL is an HTC version (I think that is what PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H means, right?).
I'm having trouble moving to a 32B rom, and no matter what I try, I can't get the damn recovery image to switch from the current RAv1.2.1H to the G - which is (I assume) why I can't install any 32B roms.
Any foolproof way to change my recovery image from H to G? I've followed all the steps listed on how to do this in Fastboot and using ADB to switch it over, but no matter what I do, it has no problems booting correctly with an H recovery image, but not with a G.
Any 32B roms just makes the phone hang at the splashscreen, so I know it's a rom issue.
OR - Am I missing a step here - is there a different spl I need in order to get my MyTouch 3G to think it is a G edition again. OR easier yet, should I stop whining and just find a reliable 32A rom that works on it (assuming something without too much HERO stuff?).
YES - I searched everywhere, I spent countless hours on it, but I can't help feel I've missed something really stupid, so feel free to call me names and point out the obvious (just don't say "try Google).
Are you still able to use flashrec? If yes try to flash this one>> cm-recovery-1.4 works fine if you want 32B roms. Enom uploaded latest version yesterday.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549754 nd if you want version prior to this then go to http://www.4shared.com/file/129108782/3953f016/HTC__crc1__Android_rooted_Rom_32B_TMobile.html
unzip and make sure to install one after the other. Large one first and rename as update ,put in your sd card. Once that is performed then go to the next small one about 14mb. Rename as update and put it in sdcard. Dont forget to delete the large one if already there.
Let us know how you go on.
No - Flashrec won't run since the rom I'm currently using has the exploit patched.
Good tip though, thanks! Any other thoughts on why I can't get the 1.2.1G recovery image on my phone? Or an alternative way to get it to install?
EDIT: Took a few steps back, installed the sappimg for the MT3G, then did flashrec and then did the update with the rom you posted. Thanks so much for the tip and inspiration!
Yes, well done. Thanks for letting us know. And yes flashrec wont work on these rom also. I tried many times to flash with RAv 1.2.1image but it seems it was not possible. I asked emon in his T Mobile rom thread where he gave me a tip as to how to go about RAv.... but that hasnt worked.
But there is a solution if al you want is to make 3 partitions.
I followed Paaragon method as described on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512873
and it worked. So try that.
I tried many different roms and finally settled on enomther's
because it is very fast, not too cluttered and just perfect for 32B boards. And further more, there isnt anything that doesnt function.
PS: I prefered the one prior to current as on 4shared. But thats personal.
unroot completly by re insttalling the saphimg and go with the oneclick root method from the unlocker thats what i did and TITS! perfict running hero and full 32 b envierment raido and roms ... be carefull with the 32 a 32 b mixup could be the end of your touch....
Hello All,
OK so i bought a used HTC MAGIC. When i bought it, it was already rooted, and had the ROGERS HTC ROM. But i wanted to load a different ROM onto the phone and in order to do that i had to unroot the phone and start from scratch to be able to root my phone in one click, as instructed by theunlockr.com
On the same site i found a method to unroot the HTC Magic, the link provided gave me a "sappimg.nbh" that ended up unrooting my phone while flashing the My Touch 3G from T-Mobile onto the phone.
In order to root my phone again i followed the steps on theunlockr.com "How-to root the magic in one click". it said that if your motherboard is 32A download the Amon_RA's "recovery-rav1.2.1h.img". my phone specs are:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-2.22.19.261
BUT after multiple attempts and fails i tried flashing the Amon_RA's "recovery-rav1.2.1g.img", which is designed for 32B motherboards, and it was a success.
BUT once again i tried to load a different ROM and seeing that my motherboard is 32A i tried to load ROMs designed for 32A. It would NOT work, the MY TOUCH 3G screen would pop up and stay there forever.
I then tried to load ROMs designed for 32B motherboard and guess what it worked.
Plus when i load HERO ROM's onto my phone it goes very very slow, and right now i have a cyanogen ROM on the phone and it is working perfectly fine.
SO i hope by now you can understand where the confusion lies...the motherboard is 32A but only ROM's desgined for 32B work on the phone.
I would prefer to start from scratch and put my phone back to the ROGERS ROM, rooted or unrooted doesn't matter. So if anyone can provide me a "sappimg.nbh" for the HTC Magic that will flash the ROGERS ROM to my phone i would greatly appreciate it.
Even when i load ROGERS ROM's onto my phone i still get the MY TOUCH 3G boot image.
Im afraid i might encounter problems later due to all these different ROM flashings, so i would like to start from scratch.
Please help me in this matter either by explaining what is going on with my phone, and/or providing me with the correct files ("sappimg.nbh") to reset my phone back to the ROGERS ROM.
Were you able to figure this out? I have a similar issue.

when you flashed over the nbh for the mytouch, you basically made your phone a 32B. the radio and spl for a 32B is different than a 32A. That's why only 32B roms work on your phone. To fix this, all you have to do is flash over the 32A radio and spl, then you are good.
This thread will get you back to a 32A setup. All your problems will be fixed from there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544761
What surprises me is that flashing over the nbh didn't brick your phone because of the different spl's. You lucked out I guess.
That link will get put the 32A radio and recovery on your phone. From there, you should be able to hopefully flash the spl over without any problems. can't guarantee it though since I have never seen a similar situation as yours is.
Fixed: I couldn't flash using adb, but was able to get into fastboot. As a last resort, from fastboot I ran the executable from the HTC website (RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_2.17.631.2_release_signed_NoDriver.exe from http://www.htc.com/ca/support/magic-rogers/downloads).
It reset everything to default, including perfected SPL, but from there it was easy to re-root.
i have the same problem
i have the same problem with u now, please tell me how you fix it, cause i cant update the official RUU with the current condition, it wont recognize the device.
TIA
Hi all,
I just updated my Magic (Hutchison/3, Australia) (32A) to the latest official HTC firmware with sense ui (I had cyanogen on there before but it was too buggy for my liking). However, it seems that this firmware has the "perfect" spl (HBOOT-1.76.0008, Radio 6.35.08.29). I was planning to root the phone without flashing a different rom but i of course need write access to /system. My plan was to boot amon-ra's recovery to do this, however when i try and boot it with "fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2H.img", i get told "FAILED (remote: not allow)" (same deal for the hero version).
My idea is to download an old sappimg.nbh and start up the SPL on the phone, which displays some messages about looking for that file when it starts up. I assume this will flash an older SPL; then, i install the system part of the new ROM but not the radio/SPL somehow (is this possible?) then follow my initial plan for rooting the phone
However, from what i've read it seems messing with the SPL is pretty much the only way to brick the phone. Is what i suggest safe/will it work?
Thanks guys

unfortunately wont work... it wont allow you to flash an older spl...probably will have to wait till an official 2.1 update comes out and hope that it might be rootable..
And THAT will teach me to look before I leap! I guess I can live with this update because its actually a HUGE improvement over what I was using before (radio reception is much better, text correction in the browser, sense is win in general and its much snappier) and I can still do usb tethering. But still, WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO US HTC!!!
EDIT:
I tried taking the rom image from the RUU and using fastboot to boot the boot.img from that but not even that works! I was thinking to do something like init=/system/bin/sh... I don't suppose theres another way to supply cmdline parameters to the kernel?
Hi, I have the HTC branded HTC Magic with the following specs:
Firmware version:
1.5
Baseband version:
63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Kernel version:
2.6.27-5b476e83
build number:
3.05.401.3
It is HTC branded som the mohterboard is 32A.
Thing is when I first bought it it had normal Android 1.5. Since then I've updated it to 1.5
with sense UI. Now I can't reflash it in any way whatsoever.
I've tried to get into nandroid backup to restore it to how it was before I updated to sense UI
but there is no way. When I boot with Home+Power all I get is Reboot, use update.zip and
wipe/factory reset(then it says E: Cant open cache/recovery/command). Here my
computer won't list it on either adb devices or fastboot devices. Though when I boot it with
volume down+power the computer lists it under fastboot devices but not adb devices. I've
tried, it seems, every way there is, at least everything I could find on the internet. Using
flashrec don't work either, it says fail when I try to backup and the flash button is always
grey no matter what I do, have tried 2 diffrent versions of flashrec. Is there anything I can
do to root it/update to 2.0/2.1?
i have some bad news for you. though i havent checked the htc site for a while, i can remember that the last update i checked (thankfully didnt work for my phone; gone the root way instead) was the only one with sense... and it also came with perfected SPL, meaning no root acess possible. you need an engineering SPL for that. i dont know if that one has been broken yet, maybe some other member can confirm or deny
I thought it was the donut(1.6) update for the Magic that was supposed to be the one with perfect SPL? Well if that is so it sucks, but still. Why does it display the error on custom boot? Iäm referring to the E: Can't open cache/recovery/command error. I should still be able to make a backup with nandroid right?
Hi,
I am not all that new to rooting / flashing i've had a lot of experience but i think i've made a school boy error.
I rooted a HTC Magic last night and added the 1.5 Hero Rom.
this morning i looked for a later ROM and i found one from the unlockr.
the issue with this was that it required a radio flash. My 32B Magic is now flashed to 32A and i cannot even get into recovery mode OR re-flash the radio.img i had originally through fastboot.
Upon boot the Magic just comes up with the Mytouch 3G spash screen and nothing else.
Details:
Rooted using gold card method, fine.
Hero rom installed: fine.
Updating the ROM however, the radio was flashed to 32A and now i cannot get back into recovery mode.
Is there anything i can do? has anyone seen this before? I really don't want to keep using the motorola dext, sorting this magic out will make me happy.
Please help.
thanks.
you cant go in fastboot mode???
[edit]No, I can get to fastboot, i can get the opening my touch splash up but nothing is working from there. i've tried the arab rom but i can't get my pc to recognize. there has to be a way to flash this back...
[edit] update - Attempted to flash stock 32B Radio to get rid of the 32A that i think's causing the issue - fastboot flash radio.img... Sends radio OK but hangs on Writing radio, I get a black screen on the device. didn't work.
I don't want to ruin the mood any more than it is now, but I did practically the same thing; flashed 32B radio onto 32A Magic, and it was unrepairable in my country. Sold it for parts a few weeks later and got another one.
No fastboot, no boot at all, nothing. All that I was able to get was the blue led mode (trackball + power), and the only repair method was JTAG, which wasn't available to me.
That sucks.
From what I can gather this very well might be dead but everything I can find tells me as long as i can get into fastboot there must be something i can do.
At the moment I can use fastboot and HBOOT but i'm unable to get to a recovery or flash a stock radio.
so far i've tried every recovery/radio i can get my hands on. Hope i'm missing something and somebody is able to help.
flashing 32B to 32A does make me feel a bit spastic to be honest. it's a mistake I can never repeat with anything!

Try posting your thread again in the correct section.
EDIT: Tis the season and junk. I was about to move this to the TRASH but I took pity on you. I moved your thread to the correct section but the next new post that you create in the Development section that isn't related to development will be trashed. Final warning.
Appreciated, My bad. It's been a long and overly tiring day.
Info if it helps:
Sapphire PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
RADIO-6.35.16.19
Tried flashing official rom, nothing.
I got ID Failed, same when i try usinb sappimg in hboot.
radio now half installs but failes on ID.
Felt i'd add to this in case anyone has any ideas.
cheers.
Hi,
I recommend that you download this switcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794450&highlight=eyegor). Only to use the files (HBOOT, RADIO and REVOVERY), again ONLY because of the files.
After download reboot on fastboot mode and flash: HBOOT, RADIO and RECOVERY, using this sequence.
Good luck,
I'm not sure if this will deal with 32B Magic that's been flashed to 32A but i'll give it a shot. thanks.
Unfortunately there was no luck with that or the Arabic RRU, The GUI Switcher method to flash the radio failed, now phone won't even turn on.
If it wasn't a brick before, it sure as hell is now. i'll chalk this one up as a mistake i think and just be more careful in future.
