A guy from another forum pointed me to this bug.
It starts when you hold two fingers in the screen for more than 12 seconds. Then the multitouch is lost. After a few seconds it fixes itself.
Has anyone noticed this?. Is there any fix or workaround?.
This is terrible for gaming.

Right, there are a lot of stand alone cameras that don't have that feature
Yes i noticed this when playing the n64 emulator, i just commented in one of the threads about it lol.
Apparently we have the same digitizer as the Nexus S. Mayb we can get the driver from it?

I think the point was, most cameras on phones do not have this feature and the Atrix did not have the feature out of the box.
IPhone does as well.
Anyway just tested this the bug is indeed real. This phone just has way too many issues.

...really? Galaxy S has, iphone has, n8 has...anyway there is no manual focus either on atrix. for a highend phone like this you have to be silly not to expect it.
anyways without being able to flash a kernel we wouldnt be able to do anything about multitouch far as i'm aware
A bit off topic but I don't see how the nokia N8 has autofocus considering it has a "full focus" camera, aka fixed focus.

OMG I was wondering this while playing MARIO CART 64! You press B to go but you have to use the trackpad and 12 after the race starts, I always come to a stop and everyone passes me
LOL I sound like a dumbass kid now...but seriously, this is very very annoying...
The only work around I saw for Mario Cart was to use the Accelerometer sensor for the trackpad. Which is under Settings>Input Settings then Use sensor as-trackpad.
But this is defiantly an annoyance to other applications too...it really needs to be fixed.

Hello ,
I have a galaxy ace. Due to its low dev support i am considering of moving to x10. Would it be a good change? And can you let me know about the problems with x10 whici i should keep in mind when upgrading??
Sent from my Galaxy ace using Tapatalk
Dual-touch fails, but SE Brazil said we'll get 4 points multitouch with Gingerbread update just like on the Arc etc...
If you can find a cheap x10 say for about £100 or less then go for it. It will soon be upgraded to gingerbread and is a superior phone to the ace by far.
With respect to it's negative points, low in call volume, no true multi touch, 65k colors, very laggy at times, below average RAM when compared to other phones in it's class. With any luck some of these negatives will at least be improved if not fully addressed with the upcoming update.

Well mine is ****ing crap. I can barely hear anything when outside or in a crowded environment. It's a complaint many x10 users have expressed and by now it should be clear to all that it's a real problem even if you are one of the lucky ones who don't have this problem.
The buggy dual touch is my one real complaint since I like to play games.. New custom kernels have made the in call volume better.
Another thing is there isn't much of a dev community at all, so don't expect to do much modding compared to other android phones.
Only get it if it's really cheap imo... Though with the update coming, who knows it might go from an ok phone to a good one?
I never had low incall volume My carrier is rogers and this is my 3rd x10 i think it depends where you guys located at..

not at all...
go look at other forums on here,
Even much older android phones.
The development here is nothing compared to almost all other android phones.
I'm not saying that is a huge issue, especially considering most end users don't care about this. It is definitely the truth though. Even ask devs on here their opinion on this. Our community is not nearly as active as most other androids

It works great for pinch zooming, but will be better with GB update. But it isn't officially confirmed on their blog.

the battery life is decent, typical for a smartphone lasts about a day.
You can run hd games, but only on custom roms as far as i know.
With the dual touch bug, many of them are painful to try and play too.
I'm using wolfbreak's rom, and there have only been 1 or 2 gameloft games I couldn't find versions of to work

Many only run on 2.2 and up though was what I meant.
I'm with Vodafone UK and PC Companion will now give us the official firmware update even though OTA will not.
It is still 2.3.3 but definately brings some new cool things. Here is what i've found so far.
UI Changes -
1) Finally we have landscape mode for the home pages. Unfortunately it only goes to landscape if you slide the phone open, it wont switch to landscape for me by rotating the phone. Cool nevertheless.
2) Smoother menu scrolling. Well it seems alot smoother for me anyway.
3) Themes - Basic bog standard themes, but they change the colours of all the menus etc. I didnt have this before the update, i am sure of it. (maybe my memory is wrong though).
4) New Timeout animation. It look cool ! Like an old CRT television turning off with the horizontal line disapearing into a small dot.
5) My keyboard no longer behaves erratically. For example, pressing "p" regularly printed a "Q" and a "P" for me. (pressing the right hand side of the screen in landscape mode activated the right and left hand side for some strange reason!). Very nice for me !
Settings Changes -
1) XLoud (found in the settings, sound menu). Apparently this does something to the speakers. Made ZERO difference for me. Mine was massively loud anyway, so i am guessing mine were already set up this way.
2) New silent mode in settings, sound (under XLoud). "All sounds except media & Alarms"
3) "X" takes pictures !!!!!! Now no need for camera mod, unless you want to use "R" trigger instead of "X". Me personally, will use "X". Great work by the camera mod dev anyway.
Apps and Software Additions -
1) Data Monitor Widget - It will only measure 3g, not WiFi, but i guess this is all we need. The widget definately looks cool. Now my main data monitor.
2) Qriocoty - A downloadable movies and videos app. You can either rent or buy.
3) WisePilot - Not sure if this is better than the navigation, i will test it next time i am on the road.
4) NeoReader - Bog standard barcode scanner
5) Store - Re-hash of market place i think. Not sure.
Who wants to add to things i have missed? There must be other stuff we have got?

Is there a way to disable the Timeout animation? I never really liked it in custom ROMs.
Also, to use the X we'll have to slide out the gamepad, we had to know SE would make it annoying before making it easier.
Lastly, thanks a lot of the list. Now I know what to expect and hope for it to reach my carrier soon.
Hasn't X always taken the picture? I can remember doing it on 2.3.2.

and 2.3.3? Isn't this 2.3.4? I'm on 2.3.3 and don't have that new xLoud feature :S
2.3.4 isn't out till September.
It is SE system software update not android.
xLoud has been amazing, I used to think my play was loud but now it is actually like have a good portable speaker system.
There are also a few new widgets like Weather and Fav contacts
extension search app for timescape.
I don't have Qriocity

I kinda worries me how xloud makes the speakers even louder, I remember there used to be jailbreak apps for the iphone which forced the speakers to go louder and on alot of peoples phones it would either break or ruin the speakers if used for too long.
anyway the xperia plays speakers are loud enough as it is

yes u read it right, the face unlock feature in xxjvu(2.3.6) is not from android 4.0.3 ice cream sandwich. its made by samsung themselves or samsung got that made from some other company.
the face unlock in ice cream sandwich is made by an australian company named pittpatt and that face recognition system basically is better when phones have better quality front facing camera as it recognises eyes, nose, mouth(lips), spects if u wear them, skin colour tone, face size, beard, moustasch.
while as far as i have noticed this facial recognition is not the one from ics as it basically takes pic of u and mainly recognises position of eyes and other features of face. this is better for low end front facing cameras and is basically not an asset for phones having great front facing cameras like samsung galaxy s 2.
so what is samsung upto here, creating there own facial recognition and using it in sgs3 instead of ics face unlock?? samsung is going really mysterious these days.
Thanks for the info!
The question is why they didn't released it before than ICS then!
Maybe in the Eclair days...

I tried the jvu face unlock and it worked pretty well and fast. but when i swivelled my chair in my room such that half my face was slightly dark (due to limited light, mainly from window), it could not recognise it. So I can't see it as being very practical (light isn't always perfect and from above/in front).

Ics face unlock has a feature for improving facial recognition after u once record ur face. It mainly asks u to re do procedure in different lighting conditions, with or without spects , with or without beard or moustasch. Thats better for high end front facing cameras. But This aint so bad as well.

Considering the front camera is still not working on any ICS build that I know of for the Evo4G, I wouldn't think it would be talked about much as one would definitely be important for the other.
This doesn't seem like it would be all that secure. Does it distinguish between your real face or a picture of your face that can be placed in front of the camera?
It scans and maps features on your face.
And to the OP, until the front camera is working in any ICS rom, we wont have it. It cant be ported to a Gingerbread rom.

Facial recognition is nice, but really easy to bypass. Japan tried facial recognition in cigarette vending machines to determine age, and kids just ended up holding up pictures of older people to bypass. Still works on the ICS facelock. Until they incorporate multi angle unlocks, it will be too easy to bypass for my liking.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Facial recognition will never be truly secure until the photo sensors can map in 3d to differentiate between a 2d and 3d image or until they incorporate a laser scanner that scans the 3d texture of a face along with the photo recognition
We are legion, for we are many.
Well, if you could get the software to recognize a partial sweep (as in turning your head from left to right), then that would be a bit more secure. Or at least have it take 3 screen captures (3/4 right, dead on, and 3/4 left) then it would be a bit more difficult to bypass.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Yeah its still being worked on by the devs, but it is really nothing more then a party gab, I wouldn't use it, the new ics face unlock could be defeated by a picture, so it really isnt secure...but yeah
