Is there anyway to increase the battery life on the aria? I love it, and I love sense, but within about twelve or so hours of moderate use in the day my battery is left with roughly 20%. With cyanogenmod, the same period of time and usage, I was left at 60% battery. I know the sense launcher and Widgets play a little part of that, but even with my hero, battery life wasn't that much of a difference between vanilla and sense roms.

I would suggest an App killer. I have yet to try cyanogen's ROM but am on Attn1's Liberated Rom. I have Bluetooth enabled all day and by the end of 12hrs it is at 25% or so. Not saying switch. I would try Advanced task killer. Have many friends using that on their EVO's and Nexuses and their battery is wayyyy better.

I've tried all the tricks. I always have advanced task killer no matter what rom I'm running. I change thee location settings, network settings, screen brightness etc. I love htc sense but I don't want the battery life that comes with it. I know what my tricks are,i just want to see what the community had come up with.

I have read somewhere on the google (official google page about android stuff), using task killers does NOT improve battery life because background apps stated as "suspended" when they are in background. I dont know if I get it right. I will post link if I can find.
P.S. Couldn't find it but it was something similar with this:
http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-using-a-task-killer-with-android/
Of course, you must take control off applications really "running" in background and preventing the phone sleep state. Not just "killing" all applications.

Mmmmm. If there's one thing that could drag me over from the standard Liberated ROM over to the Froyo ROM, it would be longer battery life.*
Perhaps I'll give it a shot this weekend.

* I've resisted the urge to switch, only because I've heard wildly conflicting stories about how fast it runs on the Aria.
don't use task killer it will kill the app but the app will just start up again in the background cause the battery to run out. it says its in the background and that's true but its not running its idle and isn't affecting battery.

I have to say, at stock clock it got sluggish at times, overclocked to 800 though its running absolutely great!

You might want to try out an app called Autostarts. Just make sure you don't turn anything off you really are gonna need. Try this with advanced task killer and the apps wont load back up.

Check that you do not have an app constantly running in the background - on my stetup, I found that the XDA app was burning 3-5% CPU time spooling in the background doing nothing. (using OSMonitor)
For what its worth, I went back to the Sense ROM (FR008) from CM6.1 because of strange battery behavior - some days dropping to 30-40% after a full day, others it would be dead by 5pm. I dont consider my self a heavy user either. I do not see a significant difference in battery life between the two ROMs, if you throw out the aberrant days that CM would go nuts on me.

Hi,
My girlfriend has an evo 4g and I'm looking for a stable rom with sense and good battery life. I have a galaxy S so I know a lot about those roms and I've browsed this development forum but I'd be interested to hear the voice of experience.
She doesn't understand this stuff so I want it stable. All she knows is her battery life sucks and it's really laggy. I'm hoping we can fix it.
Thanks,

I've used EViO 2, Warm 2.2 RLS5, MikFroyo, Fresh, Kings Unleashed, Koni's Elite, Ava, Azrael and probably a few others. Minimally, you should try MikFroyo, Warm and Azrael IMHO. go to the threads and look at the screenshots to see which you like. Then pick one and try it and maybe try a couple kernels. If you don't like it, switch.
All of those have sense and should be very stable. Every phone is diff though.
I used Warm 2.2 RLS4 and 5 for quite some time with the included kernel. Always stable; no problems. Battery was reasonable--even when i spent all day in the office (weak signal), i was still fine at the end of the day.
Thanks for the input. I want to avoid flashing very often. I want to go one and done (ideally).
But you've narrowed my search considerably. What gave you the best battery life of the 3 you suggested?
Thanks,
JOe K.

im on mikZ and over 16 hours of moderate to heavy use here
had really good luck with warm2.2 too(more complete). hope this helps
EViO 2 gave me the best battery life by far. I didn't use any of the others long enough to tell other than MikFroyo which was also good. I would just pick Myn's Warm or MikFroyo, whichever you like best. Those are the two most popular.
I'd give Sprint Lovers a shot. As close to stock as you can get with everthing functioning. Then try out some of the netarchy kernels. Remember to backup before flashing any kernel. I've tried CM and Warm Z, but keep going back to SL.

Not very scientific i know but here goes, Had been using CM7 and would get a full days use (unplugged at midnight and plugged back in about 21:00) with approx 40% battery left on an average day with HydrOG3n unplugged as normal fairly normal usage and had 60% left at end of day. Typical usage involves checking twitter periodically throughout the day, a bit of gaming (15-20 mins) some ebook reading (<60 minutes) checking facebook once or twice and a bit of web surfing (45-60 mins over the day) odd texts and two to three short phone calls (less than 10 minutes total) and a bit of foursquare with GPS on, I leave wireless on all day although I'm normally only attached at home, obviously your mileage may vary. I Have tried other ROMs specifically Miui, LeeDroid and AHRD but I hate SENSE and didn't get on with any of them so cant give any definitive comment on Battery life.
i recommend android revolution too
it's keep the original UI, and make a lot of tweaks to make your phone run smoothly
arhd is the best!
Miui is quite brilliant and awesome as well as cm7. And they use eclair or froyo BL. So that's a plus

I'm using LeeDrOiD HD myself and I'm very happy with it. So smooth and no issues (for me at least, some are experiencing battery drain with wifi on, but for me, it's at about 2-5 mA in standby). Great "community" around it, lots of support, great battery life. On a normal day, I usually have the screen on for about 2-3 hours (moderate use I'd say) and disconnected from charger for about 18 hours. That leaves me with about 50% battery when I go to bed.
I'm very satisfied
Another vote for LeeDroid. Great ROM, great support and great bloke!

I've tried ARHD, RCMixHD and LeeDroid, but have settled on Virtuous Unity. I run it with Juice Defender and now charge the battery every other day or even longer rather than every night! I run gmail and my work outlook exchange activesync on push settings, background data updates on facebook and play cut the rope a bit! Best Sense rom I reckon, especially if you want Sense 3. Activesync used to drain the battery like a vampire on the other roms, no problem with Virtuous Unity.
Also my wife has a DHD on stock UK rom and this is the first one that beats her for battery. Put juice defender on her's too, but mine is faster with the o/c daemon and looks much better. Can't persuade her to let me root and flash her for some reason, perhaps I should tell her I mean her phone

Can not compare to other ROMs, but ARHD is just awesome! Looks like stock ROM but feels a lot more smooth.
I like/use CM7
I use Leedroid. I looked for a clean, lean, fast and smooth ROM and found it in LeeDroid's rom. Works perfect with the sense 3 lockscreen, too (the combination of lockscreen and my own app, AppGrouper, make for the fastest applaunching experience I know of since the old PalmPilot days ).
Beatmod gingersense, speedy, clean great battery life. Looks good, sense 3.0 lockscreen aswell, best rom I've tried yet. Yet to try leedroid will have to check it out.

CyanogenMod 7 with tiamat kernel gets pretty good battery life. The kernels tend to have mor eaffect on battery life then the roms themselves.

Sounds like she might have 4g running all the time. Or maybe she might be updating/refreshing her background data to often. Only use 4g to down load big files or steaming vedio. Check her 4g connection and turn off or her sync rate set it to every 3 hours or more. If one or both are the culprit then she'll see a big improvement.
I run EVO Deck rom with cyanogenmod love it. And every thing works.
Hope this helps
I figured I'd chime in because you said you wanted a fully functioning ROM. CM7 and Deck had always yielded the best battery life for me with the last rev of the Savage Zen Kernel, but if you're like me and are very anal about the phrase "fully functioning" then it should be noted that the AOSP ROMs don't have 720p video recording. If that doesn't bother you than CM7 or Deck all the way.
That said i'm running TommyTomato's Classic ROM with the Freedom Agressive kernel and I'm getting 25+ hours on a charge which puts it on par with any AOSP ROM/kernel combo I've run. Might be able to get a little better on AOSP, but I'd say that's pretty damn good and it's fully functioning as in EVERYTHING works 100%.

4G is never on, Background data is unchecked, Email is set to manual sync, brightness is dimmed, no wifi. I feel as if I've done every battery saving trick in the book.
But I realized yesterday that I had SetCPU at 700mhz to save battery. I uninstalled it and the battery life wasn't dropping so rapidly. I can't say that was the issue. I'll have to run a few more test.

I get better battery on drews ICS ROM Than any from I've run in a year. I use it as a daily, it isn't completely fully functioning though, as 4g doesn't work and video is iffy.

If you're flashing ROMs, you're already flashing kernels. Don't fear the kernel flash. Tiamat Lee on CM7 or Deck's is where it's at.

I'm on Tommys Classic Supermagic, running the Hard to kill battery calibration script from Zepplins thread and i'm getting the best battery life i've had on any other rom and i've used this script with about 10 different roms, from AOSP to Sense 3.0,wont run 3.5 because of bugs and no 4G,after a full charge with alot of phone calls, texts and surfing,i held a charge for 4 days,it was 67% on the second day and actually died on the forth AM.
I'd definitely do a comparison between screen-on and awake time.
If you don't know this, you can access it through Settings > About Phone > Battery Use/History/Etc. See if the bar graphs of screen-on match awake. If you see a long bar under awake, but not a matching one under screen-on, you probably have a process or app that is stuck and needs to be removed/re-installed or have it's data cleared.
Note: it's normal to have some awake time that doesn't match screen on as apps/processes still have to perform there activities even with the screen-off, however, it shouldn't be a ton.
The best app out there to study this IMO is betterbatterstats. Hope this helps! Cheers!

I didn't believed that sense based roms were superior than each other on battery or performance basis since htc one x days. But sentinel rom actually gave me a significant boost on battery life on all of my devices. (Nexus 7, HTC One, Nexus 4)

Ya. Not sure how exactly they tweak it to get better battery life but I'm happy... The cool thing too is the maker of the Rom takes suggestions from people and implaments them into the roms if he can.

I believe that it's not really dependent solely on the ROM but there are a lot of factors like usage, brightness and other things that either give you a good or a bad battery life. I have used the stock ROM, Android Revolution HD, and Trickdroid, and I got about the same battery life from both ARHD and Trickdroid (I didn't really keep the stock ROM except for a day or two so I wouldn't know). It's sort of hard to track the usage exactly in order to compare between two ROMs, because I for one use my phone differently every day, depending on how much browsing I do, how many phone calls I get or make, how many dropped signals, the brightness level depending on the lighting condition, and such. I must say, though, that I am extremely happy with the battery life I get from Trickdroid but I cannot say that it gives me a better battery life than ARHD, for instance, because that would merely an unimportant opinion that is not based on facts.

I tried to run a full day similar to that of those with trickdroid, ARHD and RGUI. And I just feel like the battery lasted a little longer on this Rom. I'm not sure if these developers can tweak software to change how long the battery last or not? But it does seem like there is a deference. I guess I should run it for a week or so on each Rom to get a true test. All I know is I love this phone and a longer lasting battery makes me happy as I can use the phone longer
On a side note. I am getting pretty slow speeds on speedtest with LTE. I'm getting 2 to 3 bars? Anyone know what that's about?? I'm only getting like 1.5mbps down and same up??
