HydrOG3n MOD which is cm7 boat is what I'd recommend at present, Battery life is the best I've had

Can I ask how long does your battery last and how do you use how phone? And what other ROMs have you tried?

Not very scientific i know but here goes, Had been using CM7 and would get a full days use (unplugged at midnight and plugged back in about 21:00) with approx 40% battery left on an average day with HydrOG3n unplugged as normal fairly normal usage and had 60% left at end of day. Typical usage involves checking twitter periodically throughout the day, a bit of gaming (15-20 mins) some ebook reading (<60 minutes) checking facebook once or twice and a bit of web surfing (45-60 mins over the day) odd texts and two to three short phone calls (less than 10 minutes total) and a bit of foursquare with GPS on, I leave wireless on all day although I'm normally only attached at home, obviously your mileage may vary. I Have tried other ROMs specifically Miui, LeeDroid and AHRD but I hate SENSE and didn't get on with any of them so cant give any definitive comment on Battery life.

i recommend android revolution too
it's keep the original UI, and make a lot of tweaks to make your phone run smoothly

arhd is the best!

Miui is quite brilliant and awesome as well as cm7. And they use eclair or froyo BL. So that's a plus
sent from SGS Captivate 2.3.4 with CM7 or MIUI using Escapist or TKglitch

MIUI or CM7

I'm using LeeDrOiD HD myself and I'm very happy with it. So smooth and no issues (for me at least, some are experiencing battery drain with wifi on, but for me, it's at about 2-5 mA in standby). Great "community" around it, lots of support, great battery life. On a normal day, I usually have the screen on for about 2-3 hours (moderate use I'd say) and disconnected from charger for about 18 hours. That leaves me with about 50% battery when I go to bed.
I'm very satisfied

Another vote for LeeDroid. Great ROM, great support and great bloke!

TB Fusion 1.4 + unity v3 kernel by far the best for me

I've tried ARHD, RCMixHD and LeeDroid, but have settled on Virtuous Unity. I run it with Juice Defender and now charge the battery every other day or even longer rather than every night! I run gmail and my work outlook exchange activesync on push settings, background data updates on facebook and play cut the rope a bit! Best Sense rom I reckon, especially if you want Sense 3. Activesync used to drain the battery like a vampire on the other roms, no problem with Virtuous Unity.
Also my wife has a DHD on stock UK rom and this is the first one that beats her for battery. Put juice defender on her's too, but mine is faster with the o/c daemon and looks much better. Can't persuade her to let me root and flash her for some reason, perhaps I should tell her I mean her phone

Can not compare to other ROMs, but ARHD is just awesome! Looks like stock ROM but feels a lot more smooth.

I like/use CM7

I use Leedroid. I looked for a clean, lean, fast and smooth ROM and found it in LeeDroid's rom. Works perfect with the sense 3 lockscreen, too (the combination of lockscreen and my own app, AppGrouper, make for the fastest applaunching experience I know of since the old PalmPilot days ).

Beatmod gingersense, speedy, clean great battery life. Looks good, sense 3.0 lockscreen aswell, best rom I've tried yet. Yet to try leedroid will have to check it out.

Best rom without sense?

Topic

darchdroid!
imho- darchdroid wins. great rom. its speedy, stable and has a handful of neat little extras. i had an issues with wifi tethering(1.6) on 2.6.5 but 2.6.4 worked great. without sense and being aosp a few of the apps are a little on the plain side but they work very well.
cheers and best of luck,
ryan
Try Darch's ROM of you want one with no sense.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684202
I haven't tried any other ROMS that say they have no sense so I couldn't say anything about them but this is complete AOSP so of you really don't want sense and want a good ROM, use this.
concur....DarchDroid
There is no 2.1 rom other then Darchdroid that doesnt have some form of SenseUI tied to it.
Every other rom just deletes the rosie.apk and adds a different launcher, every one of the roms are still based entirely of htc framework.
I too prefer not using sense
I've been using Ic3rom and I love it easily the fastest rom I've used (Not overclocked or running jit) I love the N1 keyboard too.
But i've gotten like two random reboots today and I don't know whats causing it, might go back to 2.8
I like IceRom... with overclock it flies and it doesnt have sense. Currently im using PureHero and its a bit more themed and detailed but still pretty darn fast. Roms w/out sense r definitely faster!

Darchdroid is definitely the best ROM I've used. I rarely use MMS, and I can live without GPS (I only use it when I go out of town, which hasn't been often lately). It's true AOSP, truly lacking sense, and truly wicked fast.

There is an issue causing Icerom 2.9 to reboot on incoming calls. I've not heard anything about a fix either but I could be wrong.
On the subject of the topic. Darchdroid is very nice and is the only true sense free rom at the moment. Icerom and purehero are pretty good but it was mentioned a few posts back. They are still built from the htc framework.

Did that and completely disagree. I think, and I have no idea why this is, but the battery life fluxuates between users dramatically. Some say it is the best and some say they lose 10 % of the battery in under an hour. (and let me be clear, I wasn't madly using the phone... it would go dead at 100% charge overnight in sleep) I unfortunately was one of the later and that was upsetting because I liked the effort and result of the darchdroid ROM.
I went back to the PureHero, no sense UI, but not an AOSP like darch is. Still pretty good imo.
Another vote for DarchDroid
DarchDroid 2.7 is nothing short of amazing.
I haven't calibrated my battery since I started using it, I probably will this weekend, but I'm experiencing average battery performance. 12-16 hours with mod to light use.
Why would you have to calibrate your battery after flashing Darchdroid? Just curious.
I mean, I calibrated my battery months ago, but didn't really notice any change. What is it about this ROM that would make it produce such drastic changes in battery life? I guess I just don't get it.

Best ROM for battery life

Hi, everyone, I've heard the sense based ROMs have better battery life for Desire HD, so anyone knows wich is the best for battery life between:
LeeDroid
CoreDroid
Android Revolution
?
Thank you very much!
Yeah 3 very nice roms.
I think it's a personal journey.
You might try them all and see what you prefer.
Make sure you disable anything you don't need running in the background.
Some other users will know better than me though.
Most users seem to use Android Revolution in the which rom do you have thread.
Maybe because it stays true to the original visual experience.
Hello,
I have tried stock rom, revolution hd and miui.
MIUI has really better battery drain , it has a nice look too.
I think htc sense cause an increase in battery drain.
You get better battery life with MIUI?
Virtuous unity has some pretty good battery life better then android revolution i found for my use.
I have used ARHD (which is good) and a few different CM7 Roms and the best to date is Alienminds CM7 Rom updated with LorD's 6.2 BFS Kernel. I use Juice Defender but leave CPU control to the Rom.
I Put the phone down last night at 11pm with 72% battery and when I picked up at 8am it was...... 72%
I use the mugem 1500ma battery. Part way through the third cycle. I have been trying to go through the 5 cycles quickly but even using the phone solid for 3 hours it only dropped 25%. Screen use over those 3 hours was 93%.
I would, without doubt, recommended this setup.... very happy!

Forgot to say, I also use the puv under volting script with LorD's 6.2 kernel.

I've had great battery life with mike1986's Android Revolution HD 5.2.2 Rom. It's very fast, very smooth, and i've had no problems with it (although a few are reporting wifi connection issues).
I think he's releasing 5.2.3 today/soon which should increase battery life even further! Can't wait!
I'm using Android Revolution HD 5.2.2 and I'm happy about it battery life is ok
I am on Mr.Garak Miui 1.7.22v2 and have no battery drain (on screen off 3-5ma)
I think Doubleshot has a good battery life
Enviado desde mi HTC Desire HD

Same for me
Same for me
+1 for MIUI ROMs. About 1-5mA with screen off

On CM7 RC1 now: much to my surprise, it feels like the battery is doing better than with 7.0.3, though I don't think I can back this up empirically. My battery didn't fare too well with Coredroid V7 or MIUI, though they're both great ROMs.
All in all, pleasantly surprised by how this RC is doing. Keep up the good work everyone!
Cyanogenmod + lord mod kernel + puv script is what is working great for me. Sense roms seem to have quite a bit of superfluous features which cause a bit more drain than aosp roms like cm and miui.
Sent from my Cyanogenmod 7 phone.
ONLY LEEDROID HD gives u sense 3 rosie mods with excelllent battery life.
so, if you like sense 3d rosie, go for leedroid hd and,
if u need only the stock gingerbread rom devoid of sense 3d rosie, go for revolution hd.
the rest roms are laggy or battery sucks.
great
greate post
I have been using Android Revolution HD since 5.1.9 with Sense 3.0 All in one. With medium use (few phone calls, sms, browsing the internet) my battery lasts 24-48 hours. That's good enough for me

Rom battery life.

Hi I been bouncing from Rom to Rom like a maniac this week and I know this has probably been asked a million times before but ima ask anyways and anyone is welcome to answer which Rome have the best and longest batteries with out giving up performance? From my experience anything Gingerbread or asop has had the longest but I'm curious about which kernels n stuff would b recommended on royal Ginger right now.
P.s I love sense but they're to heavy on battery from what I've experienced

The battery you get is all dependent on how you use the Phone, if you are a heavy user you can't expect 2 days out of the battery, lite users can manage a day or more. Personally I'm loving MIUI now, I listen to music, maybe some games, phone calls, internet[4g], etc and I can mange 1 day if I try. I couldn't really kill it in under 8hrs if I wanted to. After you flash a ROM, you should try this...

RoyalGinger has amazing battery life. Just make sure to calibrate your battery after flashing and give it a couple days to "settle". I have gone 36 hours with moderate use and wi-fi on nearly all the time without charging. There have been people that went much longer.
GenerationX is the best.

Yesterday I only got 9 hours 27 mins on royal Ginger once I went up to 17 hours. GenerationX wishes it was RoyalGinger...Used it for 10 minutes and had to go back.
also consider there has been some reports of excessive battery drain caused by the tmo service itself before counting out any specific ROM. supposedly tmo is working on the issues. i really like the new VU but AOSP ROMs feel so clean, hard to choose. maybe i should just get a second phone
If you want to try out a different kernel for better battery life, flash one of faux's. He is pretty focused on battery life. demonspeed kernels from Thederekjay are pretty sweet too. They can be used with royalginger and cm7 post night91 or 92.

I agree, Faux and thederekjay make some kick ass kernels. youll also have to tweak the rom to your likings for better battery life (ex. disabling haptic feedback, lowering screen timeout, syncing, etc...) theres also an app called Watchdog task manager and it notifies you of "rogue apps" that consume too much power. give it a shot
Yea Generation X im running v5 its pretty sick i like the way everything flips n stuff and i love the Demonspeed kernel its sick love all the govenors n the fact that i can underclock when screen is off below 245 thats pretty sick but atm generation x is only lasting me bout 8 to 9 hours its a possibility that its the actuall tmo service but i never really had this issue before when Cm7 first came out i was in love lasted me up 17 hours which is alot for me considering im on it all day long for business and all but i need some change in my life be able to flash roms as much as i do stops me from buying a new phone every couple weeks lol . I think ima try the new royal ginger 3.0 but will i be able to flash the Demonspeed kernel on that one?. i really like the way everything flips and stuff when you open an app on generation X is that a setting or is that like unique to only that rom? also anyone know the difference between scary, demonspeed, minmax, and Smartass governors? kinda curious i searched it found in depth detail bout regular ones like conservative ect but i tend to lag on conservative phone takes a while to open n jump up to speed for decent performance. anyways thanks for the help and suggestion guys sorry if i ask to many questions lol

1. yes you can use the demonSPEED kernel with RG 3.0
2. the screen transitions and animations can also be used with different launchers from the market, like LauncherPro or ADW being the most popular ones. just look under "menu>launcher settings"
3. Faux and thederekjay give details for their kernels in the OP of their threads, and which governor is which:
Faux's AOSP v1.0.7 kernel
thederekjay's demonSPEED v5 kernel
hope this helps you out

Best Battery Life..

Hi, let me first say sorry for this post. I know there are a million..
I do not have a Inc but my daughter does, last time I messed with it, I put CM7 rc3 on it right when rc3 was released. ever since then I have not read one word on the development of this phone. The phone runs good but battery life could be better.
Is there anything better than CM7? looking for the best battery life possible. Please suggest ROM/Kernel. sense or senseless.
Thanks,
Coming from an avid user of Sense I would say CM7, MIUI, and OMGB or OMFGB are the "best" with battery as they are stripped of Sense. If you don't get good battery life with any of those AOSP roms, kernel combo or not, there isn't much more anyone can do.
I only use Sense roms but I know if battery life & Senseless were my thing, I would have an AOSP rom. Not sure on kernels, the crowd can fill you in on their experience.
Best bet would be to flash incredikernel, and then dl incredicontrol from the market. Stick with cm7, use the underclocking app of your choice, and then use incredicontrol to lower the voltages at different frequencies...if it reboots, go one back until its stable.

I would suggest flashing the newest CM nightly. There have been some changes and kernel tweaks since rc3.
I'm on 10 1/2 hours sitting at 70%, albeit light use, but still I usually get at least a day and a half with moderate use.
I'm a big fan of Jermaine's In-Sensitive Minimalist ROM. It has by far been the fastest and best on battery life for me.
I'm on the latest cm nightly. I use incrediblekernel with aggressive voltage. I have CPU set to 128 min and 664 Max. I could last all day plus with moderate to heavy usage.

Mcsense 2.2 with tinys 8/31 kernel with smartass. Rom looks great and fantastic battery. Personally, ill never use aosp on my phone again. Never had that "great" battery life others claim. I can overclock tinys to 1.113, minimum 245, and its very stable, very fast, and i get a good 12+ hours with HEAVY use. Thats on a stock day one battery. Ive got about as old a dinc you can get, been rooted longer than i can remember, and flashed atleast 3 to 4 times most weeks. Tryin out newts new runny rom now, dont know about battery yet on it. I'll second this. In-Sensitive Minimalist takes out almost all of the bloat of Sense, but leaves in the framework and the best apps. With Tiny's modules and SetCPU you can basically get it to run for days with minimal usage and 24-30 hrs with normal usage on a 1500mAH battery, which are $10 from Amazon.com and a good deal.
If you want to stick with Sense, that's the ROM to use. Otherwise, CM is a good choice.

Sounds like she might have 4g running all the time. Or maybe she might be updating/refreshing her background data to often. Only use 4g to down load big files or steaming vedio. Check her 4g connection and turn off or her sync rate set it to every 3 hours or more. If one or both are the culprit then she'll see a big improvement.
I run EVO Deck rom with cyanogenmod love it. And every thing works.
Hope this helps
I figured I'd chime in because you said you wanted a fully functioning ROM. CM7 and Deck had always yielded the best battery life for me with the last rev of the Savage Zen Kernel, but if you're like me and are very anal about the phrase "fully functioning" then it should be noted that the AOSP ROMs don't have 720p video recording. If that doesn't bother you than CM7 or Deck all the way.
That said i'm running TommyTomato's Classic ROM with the Freedom Agressive kernel and I'm getting 25+ hours on a charge which puts it on par with any AOSP ROM/kernel combo I've run. Might be able to get a little better on AOSP, but I'd say that's pretty damn good and it's fully functioning as in EVERYTHING works 100%.

4G is never on, Background data is unchecked, Email is set to manual sync, brightness is dimmed, no wifi. I feel as if I've done every battery saving trick in the book.
But I realized yesterday that I had SetCPU at 700mhz to save battery. I uninstalled it and the battery life wasn't dropping so rapidly. I can't say that was the issue. I'll have to run a few more test.

A lot of people are saying the same thing so I guess I'll try those recommendations.
If you want sense go with team nocturnals shooter ROM it has been my daily for a good while and I really love the battery life

This is Sense based ROM with the best battery life for evo 4G

4G is never on, Background data is unchecked, Email is set to manual sync, brightness is dimmed, no wifi. I feel as if I've done every battery saving trick in the book.
But I realized yesterday that I had SetCPU at 700mhz to save battery. I uninstalled it and the battery life wasn't dropping so rapidly. I can't say that was the issue. I'll have to run a few more test.

I'm on Tommys Classic Supermagic, running the Hard to kill battery calibration script from Zepplins thread and i'm getting the best battery life i've had on any other rom and i've used this script with about 10 different roms, from AOSP to Sense 3.0,wont run 3.5 because of bugs and no 4G,after a full charge with alot of phone calls, texts and surfing,i held a charge for 4 days,it was 67% on the second day and actually died on the forth AM.
I'd definitely do a comparison between screen-on and awake time.
If you don't know this, you can access it through Settings > About Phone > Battery Use/History/Etc. See if the bar graphs of screen-on match awake. If you see a long bar under awake, but not a matching one under screen-on, you probably have a process or app that is stuck and needs to be removed/re-installed or have it's data cleared.
Note: it's normal to have some awake time that doesn't match screen on as apps/processes still have to perform there activities even with the screen-off, however, it shouldn't be a ton.
The best app out there to study this IMO is betterbatterstats. Hope this helps! Cheers!
