I got the phone from my bro in the us.. now am here in mexico for work and I was able to find some one to activated for me , I had to change to a sence room bc he need it to access the ##3242# (the phone had CM7.1) now i have synergy.... the questions is if the phone is activated with the synergy , once is activated can i go back to CM7 with out loosing the activation and 3G settings ?
You can change to any ROM you want.
Thanks for that info.... am new to this ,I have a nook with cm7 and i never have to worry about the activation and staff like that.
Think of it like this. You have a Yahoo email account. no matter what type of computer OS you use, Mac, Windows, Linux,. etc., you can still get on you Yahoo email.
That's a very loose way to say it, but it pretty much sums it up.

Hello all,
So... bad news has befallen me. I've lost my Hermes; someone else found it and called Mexico city a bunch of times. This is the first time I've ever lost a cell phone in the many years I've carried one.
As I wait for my replacement to arrive I'm wondering what is happening with the data that is on the old one...
I know I can't do anything about the one I lost, but I can think about the next one.
So here is the question: Is there any programs that can wipe the memory card, and hard reset a PocketPC phone when a "special" SMS message or a series of messages shows up? I am hoping to find some way that I can wipe the data off a lost phone, but without a timer running the background that has to be reset.
Thanks in advance!
its highly unlikely, coz if such a thing existed anyone can flash anyone phone by sending an sms, but if have installed some anti theft program it will send a silent sms to u with some info of the cell tower the phone is using..for now get the phone and imei barred by ur service provider
I've already disabled them.
I was thinking of something that would allow you to set a random password to make the phone reset. I'm not having much luck finding one... maybe I need to write one when I have free time...
Is there a way in the WM5/6 APIs to cause a hard reset?
EDIT:
Apparently there is a way: http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/hardreset.html
Now I need to figure out how to put a hook into the SMS receiving code.
I DONT THINK U CAN HOOK THAT UP THROUGH sms.. sorry about caps
If you have an exchange server 2007 account you have the capability to wipe all data from the PPC.
Also, see this product: http://www.motionapps.com/msafe/_treo700w.jsp It is currently listed for specific devices, but it demonstrates the capability you are looking for and they have a free trial...
Hrm...
I went and looked at the MS video here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/business/directpushemail.mspx
And this IS the functionality I'm looking for.... BUT I don't think I want to set up an exchange server.
I doubt my phone would play well with a server that is running on my laptop

Ahh HA! very nice find!
I hope it works on the new Hermes. I'll try it tomorrow when my replacement phone gets here and report back if it works.
I have not tried yet but it seems very cool.
It can do a lot of things by sms control included the hard reset
Eye on thief:
http://www.mycnknow.com/LockAppen.htm
Here's what I don't get with that program...
I'm on Cingular... my settings and whatnot are for Cingular. If the thief has T-mobile, or orange, or whatever... will the SMS still get sent?
You have to enter the "alert" phone number with full access codes, preferably with country code. If the thief can use the phone with his SIM card, it will work. I don't know about the US, but in Europe it's no problem to send a SMS from one carrier to another.
Here's another program doing basically the same:
http://www.pocketpc-live.com/ultimate-theft-alert-v3-for-pocket-pcs-2.html
Remote Protect works as well...
you can lock your phone with an sms, unlock with sms, hard reset as well...
i'm using it on my Dopod 838pro with no problems.
It also has the ability to send you an sms telling you that your phone has been stolen and provides the Thief's IMSI number and your phone's IMEI as well. Once you receive the sms from the Thief's SIM card, you get his number. From there, you can send the Hard Reset/Lock format to his number and it locks the phone.

You are posting in the wrong forum, this is for Rom Development, and if you dont have have the messaging plan and service you cannot use AIM. Try what holiday said.
If you want an AIM client that uses SMS and not data, the OZ app is your only choice afaik.
There is a AIM client which you can use the data plan.Just google Aim mobile and it will take you to the right site.
I'm using it on my phone and I don't have the text messenging plan.
But if you don't have neither plan I don't think it's possible.
my phone is al alltel HTC touch and i had it flashed or "converted" to another company that also offers internet but every time i go and create a new network i fill in everything but it doesnt work... i went back to check and i always find that the password for the network is always a different number of characters than the one i put it.. The company gave me a 10-digit password and after i change it it afterwards appears as a 16- digit password.. i have tried many things.. i looked for settings and program files and dont know how to fix it.. wouldnt it be better if i could delete all the altell software from the phone? can i do that? its not alltel anymore anyway..
thank you!!

You don't make a whole lot of sense here, but that particular PW always shows longer than it really is, has nothing to do with your "conversion"
your new carrier should have an official ROM. Maybe you can try flashing to that. Remember to back up your info first.
they dont have one... is there a way for me to change the ROM myself? or change the settings on the phone?
Is there any messenger programs out there that would use text, instead of a dataplan?
I don't have, nor do I want to pay for a data plan, however there are sometimes when I need to ask someone something, or someone needs to ask me something that would just be a quick IM
well ive tried most and u have the default Messenger that comes on the phones (well the tilt version) called OZ Instant Messaging which works for Aim,Msn but u need to beable to connect to media net is the problem. It wont count as data and eat up KB's, only counts as sms's, but it needs to be able to connect.
Another 1 was called Smart Touch its a full on Txt service for many things(weather mail googlesearch etc) which doesnt ever connect to Media net. Its a bit buggy imo. It only has Aim that i know of also. can always try it out
Thats all ive found sadly ive been searching cause stayin on Media net for an IM eats battery (i have unlimited data plan so thats not an issue).
otherwise other then Buddylists u can use Aim easily if u setup for it to send to ur phone when people write u and ur offline which u can reply to and all (i dont remember if that number is finite and if u can always use same 1)
And for MSN u can have them add ur phone number as a Person and write u. Then save that Number u received for that person's msg and u can always write them through that number.

Check with another phone carier, I have same problem on one carrier it works, on another not. For tests use another phone number, it is not required that SIM card be in WP7 phone. If carier "support" this feature you will get SMS from microsoft, if not you are unlucky.
I guess microsoft (from live.com) use some global SMS carier and some carriers in different countries have not configured their gateways to accept this messages.
Well, one thing I noticed is if I am on WiFi or with data on, I tend to find my phone. Microsoft uses three different methods, I believe, to find your phone. One is using the location caching sent from your phone regularly if you have that on in the setting. The other is sending an SMS to force your phone to send a location, in which case your carrier needs to support global SMS I believe, and lastly, they send an email to do the same thing the SMS intended to do.
So first thing you should do is to check whether both boxes are checked in find my phone in settings. Secondly, be patient, if Microsoft can't locate it right away, they will send you an email when they do find it.
