ROM slower than stock Galaxy Tab 8.9 ROM
When I got my Galaxy tab 8.9 2 weeks ago I immediately rooted it using root_original.zip and added AD-HOC to my WiFi my replacing wpa_supplicant with the hacked one dated 4/12/2011.
Installed your ROM exactly as you instruct and was disappointed to see everything slowed down and lags when opening some apps so I used ODIN and reinstalled the CODE_P7310ZSKH4_CL514801_REV00_user_low_ship_16G.tar.md5 stock ROM which of course meant I had to redo the root and AD-HOC work.
If/when you post a new Galaxy Tab 8.9 custom ROM that is an improvement, I'll be back.

Dear Guy
I try to install buddied now widget in to hd mini but it can not install and try to method to install and have 1 method in below ( Buddied now very easy and beautiful )
1.Dowload Root Explorer
2.Download BuddiesNow.apk from the link provided by TheImplaer747 or better yet, just browse your phone's internal storage to /data/app and verify that you have the BuddiesNow.apk 308.83K
3.BTW you can use Root Explorer to browse your internal phone storage
4.From Root Explorer touch and hold down the BuddiesNow.apk until options come up. Select Copy
5.Browse to /system/app and touch the Mount R/W button towards the top right of your screen, then press the Past button
6.Touch and hold down BuddiesNow.apk until the options come up, select Permissions
7.Verify Owner has R-RW-EX, all others should be Read only
8.Exit Root Explorer and Restart your phone
9.You should now be able add the BuddiesNow widget
After install root explorer v.2.9.4 it show
Root Explorer has not yet managed to obtain root access.Because of issues with Superuser, this often happens the first time the app is run but is usually fine from then on.
After I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 my Gmail Widget went missing. Please help me getting in it back.
You need to reinstall using the .apk manually. Download a root explorer (ES File Explorer is a good free one). Go in settings and give it root access + mount for writing. Then, go into the /system/app folder, find the Gmail.apk file and open it. Hit uninstall, then install. If this doesnt work, rename the Gmail.apk to something like Gmail.bak, reboot, and then rename it back to Gmail.apk.
You can do this off adb / term. as well if you know how
gmail missing now?!
Okay, I went to try this, and uintalled Gmail.apk, but now it's gone so I can't re-install it. Ack! Help! Please!
Okay, for anyone else who makes the same mistake and doesn't back up the apk before installing... reflash the rom for the full ota update, and it brings back gmail! yay!

Hmm, I've tried this and still no. Even tried the re-flash with OTA update, no luck. When I select/open the Gmail.apk, it doesn't give me an uninstall option, just install. Here's what I've tried:
1. Open gmail.apk to reinstall (no uninstall option)
2. Rename gmail.apk to gmail.bak, reboot, rename back to gmail.apk, no luck (tried reboot after rename back to .apk, too)
3. rename to Gmail.bak, reflash with OTA update (which does bring back the gmail.apk)
Other thoughts?
Thanks!

Ok, solved it by:
In a terminal
su -
cp /system/app/Gmail.apk /sdcard/Gmail.apk
rm -fr /system/app/Gmail.apk
reboot
Open ES File Explorer
Open (install) /sdcard/Gmail.apk
Voila!
I apologize for this (seemingly) really easy question, but: How do you do this?
"Go in settings and give it root access + mount for writing."
[I have rooted my device, and suffer from the same problem; I installed ES File Explorer too.. I've been in the Settings, and don't see 'root access' anywhere]

Hey there, I just saw your post.. this part about:
"reflash the rom for the full ota update" to bring back gmail - I was under the impression that I already flashed the ROM for the 3.1 OTA.. did I not? Or do I just have to do it again?
Just putting the Tab into Downloader Mode and select the 'left' option, and select the 3.1 OTA file again ?

Not sure which guide you followed, but I followed this:
galaxytabhacks.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-hacks/how-to-root-galaxy-tab-10-1
I re-flashed with hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip, but I don't think you need to if you backed up your Gmail.apk to /sdcard
If you didn't back up the Gmail.apk file and it's gone, you'll need to either re-flash with this file (under step 5 in the page I linked to) or reset to factory.
Hi, I've tried everything stated here it doesn't work.
I can't rename the apk. file as it says it's a file system read-only.
In a terminal
su -
cp /system/app/Gmail.apk /sdcard/Gmail.apk
rm -fr /system/app/Gmail.apk
reboot
Open ES File Explorer
Open (install) /sdcard/Gmail.apk
Can someone further explain this steps? maybe I did something wrong.
*******************************
It's fine I made an mistake, on the es file explorer, I thought I gave it access but apparently I did not. Thank you.
When I followed Step 5 again, the menu I got was:
- No
- No
- No
- No
- No
- Yes - Install /sdcard/update.zip (not the <samsung_root.zip> file like it's supposed to be)
- No
- No
I even recopy/pasted the .zip file from my laptop into the root folder of the Tab 10.1, and redid it - same listing. I'm not sure why it's not showing the file again..

Nice , but I can't try it, wish there's a 3g version for this....
So do I.
Is there any chance that this ROM is compatible with P7300 (3G) models.
Thanks. +1 for 3g.
Outstanding!! Thanks so much!!!

I'm a little hesitant without a way to nandroid first...unless I missed something and we have a recovery available...?
Nice work by the way...love this and can't wait to slim this thing down.

Getting HW/FW on Home Screen ?
Then this Solution is for You!

Solution: there are two ways of solving it. Pick the one you find easier.
Root access needed
Option 1.
Download from Market "Terminal Emulator"
Open it and type this commands:
su
echo -n ON > /efs/imei/keystr
sync
reboot
Option 2.
You need a root capable explorer. I recommend Root explorer, solid explorer or Es file explorer.
- Using root explorer locate the /efs/imei/ folder.
In that folder there should be a file called "keystr", but will most likely be missing in your case
- using root explorer create a new file called "keystr"
- also in root explorer open the file keystr in text editor and type "ON"
- make sure you save the file.
-reboot.

ROOTING SAMSUNG GALAXY Y CDMA SCH i509 & GT-S5360
I make all my disclaimers. I am not responsible if you screw your phone, or any nuclear wars or epidemics caused by this guide.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. IT'S A 100% WORKING GUIDE, PROVIDED, YOU FOLLOW ALL THE STEPS PROPERLY.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE ENABLED USB DEBUGGING IN Settings>Applications>development>usb debugging.
First of all download the two zip files attached. ie universal root...... and delete files signed.zip
delete files-signed.zip will delete 3 apps from your /system folder, ie quickoffice.apk, maps.apk and samsung apps.apk. Deleting some apps is necessary to free some space in the system for superuser files and binaries to be added.
if u need any of the above mentioned apps or want to remove some other apps, refer to this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058944
Modify updater script the way you like, place it back in the same directory, create its .zip file and sign it using a .zip signer.
Next, place the two zips in the root of your phone's SD card.
boot into recovery by pressing---> vol. up + home key+ power button simultaneously.
after entering the recovery mode, select "apply update from SD card" (to select, we press the home button, scrolling through options is done by pressing volume keys) and select the 'delete apps-signed.zip' (or your own apps delete zip if you modified the one downloaded).
Again repeat the above step, but this time choose apply update from SD card> universal_GB_root_v25.zip> yes.
done..!!! you have successfully rooted your phone..!!! .:good:
power on your phone.
Check for a superSU, and root validator icons in the menu.
If not present, no need to worry, download them from play store.
open root validator. and check for root.
If not rooted, repeat this whole process again.
