ROOTING SAMSUNG GALAXY Y CDMA SCH i509 & GT-S5360
I make all my disclaimers. I am not responsible if you screw your phone, or any nuclear wars or epidemics caused by this guide.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. IT'S A 100% WORKING GUIDE, PROVIDED, YOU FOLLOW ALL THE STEPS PROPERLY.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE ENABLED USB DEBUGGING IN Settings>Applications>development>usb debugging.
First of all download the two zip files attached. ie universal root...... and delete files signed.zip
delete files-signed.zip will delete 3 apps from your /system folder, ie quickoffice.apk, maps.apk and samsung apps.apk. Deleting some apps is necessary to free some space in the system for superuser files and binaries to be added.
if u need any of the above mentioned apps or want to remove some other apps, refer to this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058944
Modify updater script the way you like, place it back in the same directory, create its .zip file and sign it using a .zip signer.
Next, place the two zips in the root of your phone's SD card.
boot into recovery by pressing---> vol. up + home key+ power button simultaneously.
after entering the recovery mode, select "apply update from SD card" (to select, we press the home button, scrolling through options is done by pressing volume keys) and select the 'delete apps-signed.zip' (or your own apps delete zip if you modified the one downloaded).
Again repeat the above step, but this time choose apply update from SD card> universal_GB_root_v25.zip> yes.
done..!!! you have successfully rooted your phone..!!! .:good:
power on your phone.
Check for a superSU, and root validator icons in the menu.
If not present, no need to worry, download them from play store.
open root validator. and check for root.
If not rooted, repeat this whole process again.
PLEASE PRESS THANKS IF I HELPED.

samsung apps - not needed as just a poor copy of the playstore
maps - download from playstore

Fantastic find if it works, my phone is unlocked so I can't test it but thanks a lot for sharing!!! Priceless
N.B. The first 8 steps are the process for rooting your phone, since you need to be root to do step 11. If you already have a rooted phone, start from step 10.

1000000000000000% working tested before post here !!!!!
I am following 100% tutorial but I am unable to unlock my I9000. Look at the screenshot for the error that I encounter.
I have put the update.zip in root of phone memory, root of MicroSD etc but no chance. Do I need to root the phone or what's the problem?
Thanks

Please read my post above. By doing this, you are rooting your phone.
It seems that the update.zip has not been properly signed, I see that it contains a new busybox, maybe the OP tried to optimise it and failed?
Use the original update.zip from the FAQ (http://www.multiupload.com/JHIFK9K80P) to root your phone, then continue from step 9.
The same happens with the file that I downloaded from your posted link!!!
Whats going wrong here?

No idea. Have you rooted your phone already? Have you installed any mods or firmwares?
No need to root
You dont need to root your phone to get to Step 11. The Terminal Emulator I installed from the Market let me do Step 11 directly.
All I then just did was email the nv_data.bin file to my inbox and later just open it in Textpad.
So, it was a bad tutorial. I tried to go step by step but now I begin from step 11 and everything is OK. My first I9000 unlocked like a charm
Thanks

Hi,
I have a NSPRO box and read the unlock code, but as I insert it, it doesn't unlock the phone.
As this didn't work, I tried your method, and the code that showes up is the same as read by NSPRO box, and... it still doesn't work.
Attached is the printscreen of the HEX area where the code is. I've noticed it says "18146D" and not "181460" as your indicated. Could this be the reason why the code doesn't work?

Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959 Recovery Mode
I've tried all sorts of button combinations to get the Samsung Vibrant T959 into recovery mode. I think since this device is a T-Mobile phone, the firmware has been modified for VolUp+VolDn+Pwr recovery mode.
As of now, the only way I know how to get the phone into recovery mode is by using the Android SDK and sending off a command: adb reboot recovery
I've been putting together an Android SDK & Rooting tutorial as well as other Samsung Vibrant T959 findings here: jordanpeterson.me/content/t-mobile-samsung-vibrant-sgh-t959
Sorry.. the external references aren't working.. Good spam rules on new users.

1) download jellyblast + 4 OTA + CWM
2) open jellyblast zip ed delete "boot.img"
3) copy rom + 4 ota + CWM inside SD
4) reboot in recovery mode (vol up + home + power) and select CWM.zip
5) Backup your rom via CWM (backup and restore) [REQUIRED STEP! This take some time but you can restore previous rom and all you had before (apps, calls... everithing) in case of problems!]
6) Run " wipe data/factory reset" and " wipe cache partition" ("wipe data/factory reset" delete everithing from your device!)
7) Run "install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip"
8) Select jellyblast rom > "yes"
9) Than "reboot system now"
For ota:
1) Reboot in recovery mode (no need flash CWM again...)
2)Select "apply update"
4) choose first OTA
5) reboot
6) same for other ota (pass 1 to 5)
Install OTA update in number order (OTA 1, OTA 2...)
(Thanks to Roby293)
I tried this steps yesterday.
Full working for me, the rom is very smooth & fast.
Just some force stop to Phone process and PIN Dial pad not working.
Some people say fix this flashing "modem" & "csc" via ODIN.
But i'm not really sure.
Sorry for delay. Hope this help someone else.
Thanks

I'm having the same problem, and another ones... the customized keys (1 and 2), Backspace and Enter keys doesn't work, the camera can't be used in 3.15MP and most of apps doesn't install, just keep saying "downloading"
for problem with device/hardware keyboard, please copy keylayout and keychars from your stock rom into jellyblast (System/Usr)
dont delete the existing folder in jellyblast, just replace the existing files. the flash the modded jellybean rom again.
your keyboard will be working, overall keyboard function is ok, but i cant get symbol button working yet..
im using this, almost perfect but phone application looks bad because of the landscape view of our phone.
for camera, you can replace it with camera.apk from your stock rom. (system/app folder)
update: just wanna share, cant copy camera from stock rom, becuase stock is odexed. so, to get 3.2mp camera working, i downloaded ported jellyblast rom for galaxy mini pop plus, extracted it,copy camera.apk from system/apps and install on your phone.
suuchi, for 'apps doesnt install' problem, u need to remove a2sd or disable it before flashing the rom.
found today out position sensor not working properly..horizontal calibration wont help
update: got it working already, need to copy sensor file system/bin and system/lib folder from stock rom.

im not sure which sensor file that responsible for screen position, so i just copied all sensor related file ..hehe...
the files are
system/bin
- atx
-memsicd
system/lib
-libacc.so
-libsensorservice.so
-libaccsensorcal.so
-libaccelcal.so
-libaccsensorcaltest.so
what i did was, using the root explorer (setting - mount / and /system as writable is checked) delete all the existing sensor file, then copy paste, because the explorer cannot replace the existing files.
then i set the permission back..to enable 'read write exec' for all user group...
then restart the phone..
you will notice horizontal calibration app wont show the correct position (maybe you need to replace horizontal calibration app also), but your sensor is working by using sensor diagnostic (dial *#0*#)
bro do have any solution for dialer/phone app not displayed correctly?

zip not opening
brothers whenever i try to install zip fro cwm , it gives error like zip opening failed.
i hv installed the zip package of jelly blast without deleting boot.img nd it didnt give any error while opening zip but after installation i was facing half screen error.
so i m assuming that when i delete boot.img nd re zip the file at that point i m doing some mistake.
is thr some specific zip format or compression ratio which i should have to consider while zipping it?

When you download the Rom zip do not unzip it... Open the rom zip in winrar or 7zip and then delete the boot.img file from the compressed zp

yes you can. if you have backup your stock rom using cmw, you know the combination key to recovery? press vol up + home + power on
then select update zip from sdcard, select cmw.zip -> restore
or you can take out your sdcard copy the correct jellyblast zip, with deleted boot.img. reflash again, bro make sure you have disable/removed a2sd for smooth installation
So the brilliant gentlemen at xolo have graciously provided us with a spectacular (albeit slightly buggy) update to android 4.4.2 kitkat for our xolo Q700S.
While this has a lot of advantages it lacks a clean and simple rooting method like framaroot or towelroot.
However, there is a slightly complex rooting method available to root our Q700S.
Our brothers with the Q1010i rooted their 4.4.2 devices with a method mentioned here
I just used the method given there and adapted it for our device. If any credit need be given they are owed to the original devs for porting and testing.
So lets get rooting!
1) Download Smartphone drivers for MTK devices from link given here ,unzip and.
- click install.bat
- if that doesn't work : run device management (run> devmgmt.msc). Turn off phone and plug in. Find MT65xx preloader. Update drivers. Browse local harddrive for drivers. Navigate to folder where you unzipped the drivers /SmartPhoneDriver/x86 or x64/infs. That should install drivers.
2) Download SP flashtool for windows from link given here.
3) Download CTR recovery for Q700s ported by tarun from this link
-best if you rename it to recovery.img
4)Download Scatter File for our device. (if it throws an error download scatter file from the attachments)
5) Download SuperSU by chainfire.
- rename to update.zip
- copy to root of sdcard.
Now ensure that you have a proper usb cable, wits, a strong nerve and basic knowledge of how to unbrick a phone if something goes wrong.
All boxes checked? Lets proceed.
>Run SP Flashtool
>Click Scatter-loading

Looking for kernel patch
It is indeed a great post and that'll gonna be helping people but I have a issue with Kernel or to say the root of this device, I have been using link2SD with JB with my sd card having a ext2 format but since I have moved to KK, it seem to have bugging me out all the way,
I can mount my sd card with ext4 but its useless and doesnt let me move my apps to 2nd partion as internal, eventhough I can use ext3 format which ends up with an error at mounting with unsupported transport end point, the reason made me to look for a kernel patch, I believe you'll try this and will be able to resolve for following readers and well thank you for this one.

Use Latest version of link2sd

5) Download SuperSU by chainfire.
- rename to update.zip
- copy to root of sdcard.
Now ensure that you have a proper usb cable, wits, a strong nerve and basic knowledge of how to unbrick a phone if something goes wrong.
All boxes checked? Lets proceed.
>Run SP Flashtool
>Click Scatter-loading
>Select the .txt scatter file
>in the now visible options check only RECOVERY and double click the long empty green bar in the same row. Load recovery.img

Simple way to flash Kitkat & root it (no need to flash stock recovery, use cwm):

2.Unzip it, goto META-INF/com/google/android and replace the 'updater-script' with the one attached.
3. Now zip it back, and flash it with cwm, carliv etc...
4.To root it, download & flash SuperSu via cwm (here: http://goo.gl/OSKQRQ)

To install a custom ROM(OS) on your HTC DESIRE 820

To install a custom ROM on your HTC DESIRE 820, here’s a brief tutorial guide:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1. You will need to first download the custom ROM you want to install. These ROMs come in a “zip” file format (so DO NOT UNZIP them) and usually 1 large file around 200MB to 1GB. Some ROMs may require you to install multiple files.
You can download these zip files straight to your phone or use your computer to download (as downloading on your computer may be more stable/effective/faster) then copy over to your phone’s storage.
Step 1. Once ROM zip files are downloaded/copied to your phone, get into TWRP RECOVERY MODE BY PRESSING volume down+power button together for about 3 seconds to enter bootloader menu.Choose “RECOVERY” using Volume Down key then hit Power button to enter TWRP recovery.
Before installing a ROM, you will want to do a “data wipe/factory reset” by hitting the “Wipe” button. This will erase all your settings, apps, and app data (but not personal photos/videos on your storage). I highly recommend using Titanium Backup app to backup your apps, SMS Backup & Restore app to backup your SMS text messages, and use an online service such as GMail or Facebook to backup your contacts. Most online service providers like GMail or Facebook offer built-in ability to auto backup/restore your contacts.
*Optional – You can try installing a custom ROM without wipe, but this is considered risky and dangerous as sometimes the ROM may not boot. You can make a backup ROM if you are going to try this route so you can restore easily. Also, this can keep your settings, apps, and app data without restoring them.
Step 2. Once wipe is done (or you have decided not to wipe but have backup ROM), simply use the “Install” option in main menu and find the ROM zip file you need to install. If there’s multiple files, simple install them one by one until you are done.
Step 3. Once done installing custom ROM, reboot and cross your fingers your phone will boot. If your phone boots within 5-10 minutes you should be good to go. If not, you can try re-installing ROM, especially if you did not wipe, try re-installing after wiping.
To copy ROM file into SD card:
-------------------------------------
Boot TWRP, then select “Mount”, then select only “Data” and connect your HTC DESIRE 820 to your computer with usb debugging enabled.
Then download fastboot.zip and unzip, you probably will find a new directory called fastboot under your Downloads directory.
Copy the ROM you want to install to the fastboot folder.
Open a command prompt then type:
cd Downloads\fastboot
adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/.
Replace ROM.zip with the ROM filename you copied earlier to fastboot folder.
This will copy your ROM to the internal storage so once it’s done, just use TWRP to install ROM.
To backup the ROM after installing:
----------------------------------------------
Backing up a ROM will backup everything on your phone including your settings, apps, app data, kernel, and the whole ROM. It will not backup your personal photos or videos stored in your internal storage but it will backup everything else.
This can be handy later down the road your HTC DESIRE 820 malfunctions. For example, if your phone stops booting for some reason (due to bad custom ROMs or apps), you can easily restore your phone to a previous state by restoring your ROM.
If you “still” haven’t made a backup ROM, I highly suggest you to follow this tutorial to make a backup ROM.
Step 1. Make sure “Fast boot” is checked OFF under Settings->Power.
Step 2. Power off your HTC DESIRE 820. Then hold down Volume Down and Power buttons together for about 3 seconds to enter bootloader menu.
Step 3. Choose “RECOVERY” using Volume Down key then hit Power button to enter TWRP recovery.
Step 4. Once inside TWRP recovery, you can easily choose “Backup” or “Restore” to backup or restore ROM, it’s that simple.
Step 5. If you are backing up ROM, make sure “Boot”, “Data”, and “System” are checked and swipe to start backup. Backup process should take about 5-10 minutes or longer depending on how many apps you’ve installed on your phone.
Backups are usually large between 1-5GB depending on how many apps you’ve installed. They are stored in your internal storage under TWRP/BACKUP directory. You can easily save space by moving these files to your computer and move them back to the same location when you need to restore your phone.
Step 6. When restoring ROM, you will find your backups organized by folders. You can name your folders while backing up otherwise they will be stored with the timestamp of the time you backed them up.
Download ROM file from HTC deire 820 android development forum they given your orginal ROM for installing.

Be carefull of links which state there is 5.0 available for our device
drsobhan -
Please refrain from using or downloading ROM or any other files from other websites. The website you listed did not look genuine.
- HTC should provide us the with an update and source code will be available
- Cynaogen or other third party would provide us with an update
- XDA senior developers can provide link
One CM launches the rom there could be other providers like MIUI etc... but till the time please refrain from such websites
Refer to the following side for all builds supported by CM

Custom Recovery
Please have a read through the information in this link : http://www.howtogeek.com/193055/what-is-a-custom-recovery-on-android-and-why-would-i-want-one/
Flashing a custom recovery on the L2 is a simple process.
Things Required for this process:

This should let the system load when you reboot again, even if it asks you to format the phone again.
Copy NVRAM Backup to PC for safe keeping.
If you want to return to original/stock
Follow the same procedure as above but use the following file instead of the 2GB File
Stock Partition_Jellybean_4.zip (232.63KB)

Okay, you have to download the firmware version for your country, and have custom recovery installed on the phone.
So if you in UK,download the rom for your phone from UK provider.(doesnt matter if its JB or KK)
http://www.ztedevices.com/support/index.html
Once you have the rom,Use winRAR to do the following:
1.open the rom from your country in winrar so you can see the contents.
2.Open system folder (dont extract, just navigate into the folders in winrar)
3.Open "etc" folder
4.Open Firmware folder
5.Select "modem_1_wg_n.img" and extract it(i just drag and drop on desktop)
6.Open the Kitkat firmware you've downloaded using winRAR
7.Open System folder
8.Open "etc" folder
9.Open Firmware folder
10. Copy the "modem_1_wg_n.img" into that location(drag and drop from desktop)
11.winRAR asks if you want to :Add/Replace file/s? Select Yes or OK to allow it to
12.copy entire firmware to phone and reflash it on the phone from the SD card
I dont know if you can just replace the modem file after having loaded the firmware.I didnt try or test it.it may or may not work.
I am working on Custom Firmware for this phone though.
latest achievement was i managed to get the phone to see the SD card as phone storage thanks to various xda guides.this will be built in
FIrmware should be ready in a few days after testing.if anybody is interested in trying it out,let me know
problem solved...
Thank you sir...problem solved...it's really hard to be a noob...have to understand a lot of things now....I'm willing to try your firmware on my phone...upload it when done...keep up the good work...sorry for my english...

The thread is so useful... Keep up the good work, I don't have patience to try the new ROM!
Is there any chance for kernel supporting overclocking and undervoltage, also with more Gvernor and I/O Sheduler options?
Also Would be gorgeous if there's tap screen to wake option, this would need custom kernel too...
I'm now using DeviRSilva's kernel, which is doing great! Man, don't be afraid to relese it and continue tweaks
Still I'm a noob and maybe half of theese wishes are impossible, but would be so cool if they're possible to develop!
PD: I saw a site promoting Lollipop ROM for our L2 is that real?
PD2: Sorry for my awful English and probably stupid requests and questions...
helpppp
I have probelm, phone do not show sim card, on official site there is no serbia rom please how to fix it?

Custom Recovery
Please have a read through the information in this link : http://www.howtogeek.com/193055/what-is-a-custom-recovery-on-android-and-why-would-i-want-one/
Flashing a custom recovery on the L2 is a simple process.
Things Required for this process:
Rooted Phone - (Please see the post on Rooting)
Mobile Uncle Tools APK
Recovery Image
First you have to allow the phone to install apps that dont come from Google Play Store. To do so,follow the guide :
1.Settings Menu
2.Security
3.Enable(tick) Unknown sources
4.Untick Verify apps
You can always reset these back to how you found them when you are done.
Download Mobile Uncle Tools
Mega Link: http://goo.gl/IkyVDo
or
MediaFire Link : http://goo.gl/c5q6Jh
Copy APK file to your SD card, use your file manager to install it.
Run Mobile uncle tools, allow root permissions when menu pops up.
You can close the app for now.Next thing we need is the actual recovery file itself.I've attached the recovery i find works best
Carliv Touch Recovery v2.2 - MTK CWM-based v 6.0.4.4
Download Recovery.img file

or
MediaFire Link :http://goo.gl/U1D2Zu
MD5 :9f770b95df8e1beabd7417fc112190bc
Once the file has downloaded, copy to the root of your SD Card.
Open Mobile Uncle Tools and Select "Recovery Update".
Be sure to Select the downloaded recovery image, not anything else.
Select the file and proceed with installation.Mobile uncle tools will then prompt you to reboot into recovery if the update was successful.Select Yes and the phone will reboot into the new recovery menu
