Okay, you have to download the firmware version for your country, and have custom recovery installed on the phone.
So if you in UK,download the rom for your phone from UK provider.(doesnt matter if its JB or KK)
http://www.ztedevices.com/support/index.html
Once you have the rom,Use winRAR to do the following:
1.open the rom from your country in winrar so you can see the contents.
2.Open system folder (dont extract, just navigate into the folders in winrar)
3.Open "etc" folder
4.Open Firmware folder
5.Select "modem_1_wg_n.img" and extract it(i just drag and drop on desktop)
6.Open the Kitkat firmware you've downloaded using winRAR
7.Open System folder
8.Open "etc" folder
9.Open Firmware folder
10. Copy the "modem_1_wg_n.img" into that location(drag and drop from desktop)
11.winRAR asks if you want to :Add/Replace file/s? Select Yes or OK to allow it to
12.copy entire firmware to phone and reflash it on the phone from the SD card
I dont know if you can just replace the modem file after having loaded the firmware.I didnt try or test it.it may or may not work.
I am working on Custom Firmware for this phone though.
latest achievement was i managed to get the phone to see the SD card as phone storage thanks to various xda guides.this will be built in
FIrmware should be ready in a few days after testing.if anybody is interested in trying it out,let me know

problem solved...
Thank you sir...problem solved...it's really hard to be a noob...have to understand a lot of things now....I'm willing to try your firmware on my phone...upload it when done...keep up the good work...sorry for my english...

The thread is so useful... Keep up the good work, I don't have patience to try the new ROM!
Is there any chance for kernel supporting overclocking and undervoltage, also with more Gvernor and I/O Sheduler options?
Also Would be gorgeous if there's tap screen to wake option, this would need custom kernel too...
I'm now using DeviRSilva's kernel, which is doing great! Man, don't be afraid to relese it and continue tweaks
Still I'm a noob and maybe half of theese wishes are impossible, but would be so cool if they're possible to develop!
PD: I saw a site promoting Lollipop ROM for our L2 is that real?
PD2: Sorry for my awful English and probably stupid requests and questions...

helpppp
I have probelm, phone do not show sim card, on official site there is no serbia rom please how to fix it?

[Q] Feedback to [GUIDE] Root (Updated for ICS) #213 on page 22

Am 10 postings away from being allowed to join the original discussion.
Have ICS 4.0.4 OTA upgrade to ...-P6800XXLQ1-...
Used the procedures and data from Attached Files of posting #213 by kable in #213 in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454112&page=22
CWM installed well from recovery.
But CWM did not install root.zip!
Error message:
CWM Recovery v5.8.1.5
E: Can't mount /sdcard/
What could have gone wrong? What further details are needed to find a remedy? What else is needed to root successfully?
Updates:
I have found solutions after reading all posts related.
If you have just PC Odin an unrooted SGT 6800 into ICS, your SGT now cannot be rooted. What I have done thereafter is as follows:
1. PC Odin CWM 5.5.0.4 into my 6800;
2. set-up your 6800 into recovery mode ( press power & vol-up same times, release power button once your see active screen, then release vol-up button as well, you will be in CWM recovery mode;
3. goto zip from sdcard; toggle signature verification & script asserts to disable;
4. then choose zip from internal sdcard; from there you should choose root.zip ( this root.zip was saved into your external sdcard in advance.)
5. Once done, choose reboot.
Now you new ICS is rooted.
Which zip and which sdcard, that is the question.
Hi ronnieho,
thanks for your quick response and help. I am sure you will get me running. Please give me some more details which due to my lack of experience I feel to be missing.
Please let me explain this, then you will know which details still trouble me:
Last week I managed to root my ICS SGS2 following these instructions:
http://www.pocketpc.ch/samsung-gala...-stock-ics-firmware-ohne-flashen-kernels.html
It is in german, but based on the original thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
The german instruction was very specific about which zip to put into which (internal or external) sdcard.
The english XDA instructions are not that specific about these obviously very important details.
Would you please add these details to your instructions:
1. PC Odin CWM 5.5.0.4 into my 6800;
Does this mean, place CWM.zip into the external sdcard (i.e. /sdcard/extStorages/SdCard) of the 6800?
From the threads refered to in my first post I have CWM 5.8.1.5. May this work too? Or must it be CWM 5.5.0.4? Where can I get CWM 5.5.0.4?
2. set-up your 6800 into recovery mode ( press power & vol-up same times, release power button once your see active screen, then release vol-up button as well, you will be in CWM recovery mode;
Yes, this is how I get into recovery mode.
3. goto zip from sdcard; toggle signature verification & script asserts to disable;
goto _which_ zip from _which_ sdcard.
Rooting my SGS2 I used
- install zip from sdcard
Here _sdcard_ meant the external sdcard
And _zip_ meant CWM.zip.
Is this also true for your instruction step 3?
toggle signature verification & script asserts to disable;
Where/to what item should I apply these instructions?
4. then choose zip from internal sdcard; from there you should choose root.zip ( this root.zip was saved into your external sdcard in advance.)
So far I did not save any zip to the internal sdcard?
Should I have saved root.zip into the internal sdcard in step 1?
Which root.zip? Remember, I have CWM.zip and root.zip from the Attached Files of posting #213 by kable in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454112&page=22
Can I use these files or should I download different zip-files? From where?
Sure, I could simply try out my questions, but I am afraid to brick my Tab.
Another important detail may be that I did not use Odin to copy the zip files to the tap. In my successful rooting of the SGS2 I simply used the USB MTP connection and copied the zip-files like I copy video and audio files, and it worked. I would prefer to keep this copy practice also regarding the Tab7.7. Or must I copy with Odin? Why? Do I miss something if I copy in MTP mode? Does Odin do a different copy? Does Odin copy to different/specific sdcard locations?
I am confident that using your instruction will make the difference. Please give me the details which I feel to be missing.
Thanks!
Took the risk - Success, at last!
Since I did not get any more helpful answers, I had to reconsider the situation. Finally I decided to take the risk by using a best of
a) the xda-developers [GUIDE] Root (Updated for ICS)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454112
, e.g. postings #1 by Jade Eyed Wolf, #213 by kable, #227 by ronnieho, #230 by mashkuov, etc.
b) aljee77 guide for the SGS2
http://www.pocketpc.ch/samsung-gala...-stock-ics-firmware-ohne-flashen-kernels.html
Trusting that the xda-developers zip-files, CWM.zip and root.zip, will be ok for the Tab7.7
and hoping that the aljee77 procedure will also work as well for my Tab7.7 as it has worked for my SGS2,
I took the risk and finally succeeded to root my Tab7.7.
My successful procedure (Thanks to aljee77 and mashkuov):
1. Data preparation (zip-files)
1.1 Downloaded CWM.zip and root.zip to my computer from mashkuov, post #230 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454112&page=23
1.2 Copy these zip files from my computer to respective sdcard in my tab.
I have the Samsung Kies drivers installed on my computer. But I do not use Odin. I connect the tab and the computer with the USB data cable and simply use the USB MTP connection. I simply copy the zip-files like I would copy video and audio files by simple Windows Explorer file-drag/drop between the the source/target location icons.
1.3 I copy CWM.zip into my _external_ SDCARD
(on the computer: GT-P6800/Card
on the tab: /sdcard/extStorages/SdCard)
1.4 I copy root.zip into my _internal_ SDCARD ( /sdcard/ ) <--- aljee77 procedure <--- :good:
(on the computer: GT-P6800/Tablet
on the tab: /sdcard/)
2. Temporary installation of CWM Recovery:
- Reboot to recovery:
2.1 Download and install LATEST SAMSUNG KIES (or stand-alone USB drivers if you can find them)
2.2 Transfer CWM.zip to the EXTERNAL CARD on Galaxy Tab 7.7 (already done in step 1.3)
2.3 Turn off the Galaxy Tab 7.7
2.4 Enter Recovery
- Hold Volume UP button + Power Button
- When TAB turns ON, RELEASE POWER BUTTON (Keep Holding Volume UP Button)
* Will Enter Recovery
2.5 In the following basic menu use Volume Up/Down to navigate and Power OFF to select/accept options!
- Choose apply update from external storage.
- Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appears.
* Now a temporary CWM is installed and activated.
* This CWM recovery is only a _temporary_ CWM and will be gone after reboot!
* see #217 by vegaman: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28300775&postcount=217
3. Install root
* Once the CWM recovery appears:
* _Touch-screen_ to navigate and to choose an option!
- install zip from sdcard (1st CWM menu)
- choose zip from internal sdcard (2nd CWM menu) <--- aljee77 procedure <--- :good:
- toggle signature verification & script asserts to disable <--- ronnieho #227 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454112&page=22
- +++ GO BACK ++++ (from 2nd to 1st CWM menu)
- reboot system now (1st CWM menu)
* After reboot your tab will be rooted and temporary CWM will be gone.
4. Enjoy!
Now the tab is rooted! Temporary CWM is gone.
Now you can download Superuser App and Superuser Elite App (both by ChainsDD) from the market.
5. If you want a permanent CWM see #220 by Handymeister: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28319010&postcount=220
- after installing temporary CWM I flashed the root.zip with it.
- then reboot
- with root I flashed the CWM with Mobile Odin and that works fine and is now resistant again

Click to collapse
6. If you need to unroot, see #5 by kazuni: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21600037&postcount=5
Re-flashing manufacturer rom through Odin is the only method as far as i know

3) copy rom + 4 ota + CWM inside SD
4) reboot in recovery mode (vol up + home + power) and select CWM.zip
5) Backup your rom via CWM (backup and restore) [REQUIRED STEP! This take some time but you can restore previous rom and all you had before (apps, calls... everithing) in case of problems!]

7) Run "install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip"
8) Select jellyblast rom > "yes"
9) Than "reboot system now"
For ota:
1) Reboot in recovery mode (no need flash CWM again...)
2)Select "apply update"
4) choose first OTA
5) reboot
6) same for other ota (pass 1 to 5)
Install OTA update in number order (OTA 1, OTA 2...)
(Thanks to Roby293)
I tried this steps yesterday.
Full working for me, the rom is very smooth & fast.
Just some force stop to Phone process and PIN Dial pad not working.
Some people say fix this flashing "modem" & "csc" via ODIN.
But i'm not really sure.

I'm having the same problem, and another ones... the customized keys (1 and 2), Backspace and Enter keys doesn't work, the camera can't be used in 3.15MP and most of apps doesn't install, just keep saying "downloading"
for problem with device/hardware keyboard, please copy keylayout and keychars from your stock rom into jellyblast (System/Usr)
dont delete the existing folder in jellyblast, just replace the existing files. the flash the modded jellybean rom again.
your keyboard will be working, overall keyboard function is ok, but i cant get symbol button working yet..
im using this, almost perfect but phone application looks bad because of the landscape view of our phone.
for camera, you can replace it with camera.apk from your stock rom. (system/app folder)
update: just wanna share, cant copy camera from stock rom, becuase stock is odexed. so, to get 3.2mp camera working, i downloaded ported jellyblast rom for galaxy mini pop plus, extracted it,copy camera.apk from system/apps and install on your phone.
suuchi, for 'apps doesnt install' problem, u need to remove a2sd or disable it before flashing the rom.
found today out position sensor not working properly..horizontal calibration wont help
update: got it working already, need to copy sensor file system/bin and system/lib folder from stock rom.

I solved the symbol's problem using an app called 'Game Keyboard'. With the compatibility options the buttons will work properly. Can you upload the camera.apk? Thanks a lot!

Hi! I've been using this rom for 3 days, it works really fast and smooth. I just need to fix the sensor's problem. Can you tell me which files I need to copy? Thanks!

im not sure which sensor file that responsible for screen position, so i just copied all sensor related file ..hehe...
the files are
system/bin
- atx
-memsicd
system/lib
-libacc.so
-libsensorservice.so
-libaccsensorcal.so
-libaccelcal.so
-libaccsensorcaltest.so
what i did was, using the root explorer (setting - mount / and /system as writable is checked) delete all the existing sensor file, then copy paste, because the explorer cannot replace the existing files.
then i set the permission back..to enable 'read write exec' for all user group...
then restart the phone..
you will notice horizontal calibration app wont show the correct position (maybe you need to replace horizontal calibration app also), but your sensor is working by using sensor diagnostic (dial *#0*#)
bro do have any solution for dialer/phone app not displayed correctly?

Wondering if a clockwork back up could get me back the kernel?
zip not opening
brothers whenever i try to install zip fro cwm , it gives error like zip opening failed.
i hv installed the zip package of jelly blast without deleting boot.img nd it didnt give any error while opening zip but after installation i was facing half screen error.
so i m assuming that when i delete boot.img nd re zip the file at that point i m doing some mistake.
is thr some specific zip format or compression ratio which i should have to consider while zipping it?

When you download the Rom zip do not unzip it... Open the rom zip in winrar or 7zip and then delete the boot.img file from the compressed zp

yes you can. if you have backup your stock rom using cmw, you know the combination key to recovery? press vol up + home + power on
then select update zip from sdcard, select cmw.zip -> restore
or you can take out your sdcard copy the correct jellyblast zip, with deleted boot.img. reflash again, bro make sure you have disable/removed a2sd for smooth installation

[GUIDE] How to root SmartQ ZWatch

You can easily root the SmartQ Z1 (W1) ZWatch by modifying the firmware and updating it to the watch. I don't know of any rooting tool (like framaroot) that does the job on the watch without flashing the firmware.
[CREDIT TO GEEK78]
(1) READ the [HOW TO] in this thread by geek78 who first made a root firmware.
Download his rooted firmware HERE
Extract it with WinZip or similar zip utility - you should see files and folders which include "system"
Go to "system" -> "app". Copy "superuser.apk" to somewhere else in your computer (and remember where it is)
Go to "system" -> "xbin". Copy "su" to somewhere else in your computer (and remember where it is)
==========================================
(2) Go to Smartdevice website and download the latest firmware - HERE
Extract it with WinZip or similar zip utility - you should see the same files and folders of (1)
Copy "superuser.apk" and paste it into the "system/app" folder of this unzipped new firmware
Copy "su" and paste it into the "system/xbin" folder of this unzipped new firmware, replacing the original "su" file
[OPTIONAL]
(a) If you want to remove any apps in the original firmware, you can rename them from "xxx.apk" to "xxx.apk.bak" (eg. I don't use Weather sync app (IndroidWeather.apk), Sleep app (SleepAnalysis.apk) and Health app (SmartQWatchHeath.apk)), before the following step
(b) You can also add your own apps into the system/app folder, so that you don't need to install them after updating to the new firmware
==========================================
(3) Open WinZip or similar zip utility and navigate to the folder that contains the unzipped firmware files and folders. Highlight all the files and folders ("META-INF", "system", "boot.img", "mbr-xboot.bin", "recovery.img"), and use your zip utility to compress them back into a ZIP file called "update.zip"
==========================================
(4) BEFORE FLASHING THIS MODIFIED FIRMWARE, you must follow geek78's steps:
[HOW-TO]
1-Flash the watch with the restore tool from https://hotfile.com/dl/255788947/abfedd9/z1_restore_tool.zip.html (yes, i know, it will format the watch and you will loose everything... but it is needed)
2-Copy the rooted firmware called "update.zip" to the root of the /Sdcard of your watch
3-Start the flash from the watch
4-After the boot you can delete the 2 chinese apps with App Uninstaller

help with restore tool
Hello I have been searching through the forums and got a little help but need more. I am having problems rooting my watch. I dl'd the restore tool, problem is one of the restore tools instructions was to install the driver in a custom path but my comp keeps auto dling the driver and I cant choose the path to install. I run the restore tool and try to boot into restore mode so the tool will recognize it but it wont do anything. What am I doing wrong and do you guys have any solutions for the install path and getting into restore so I can use the tool? Thanks in advance for your time.

Try finding the watch in Device Manager and updating the driver manually. The driver is in this folder on Win7 x64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Smartdevices\Z1 Burn Tool\driver\x64

Thanks for your help I tried that and it didn't work sadly. I will just have to try another comp. I have tried going to restore mode with the watch off and with it on .Do you happen to know if i did a factory restore from the watch and then used the rooted 2.2 rom from geek78 if that would work or do i absolutely have to use the restore tool to wipe first?

Yes according to geek78, you must use the restore tool everytime you are installing a customized firmware. I guess the reason is that the restore tool wipes everything on the watch, allowing a clean new install.
I had no problem with installing the restore tool. When I uninstall and reinstall the tool, it remembers where the driver was, therefore I could not reproduce your problem. The best way is to try to install it on another computer eg. XP or Win7 32 bit (I heard that the 64 bit gives most problem with drivers).
If this fails, you can try (I have not tested and won't test because it is a hassle to reinstall all the apps!) to wipe the watch in recovery mode (which is really a modified CWM):
(1) You have to trick the watch to reboot into recovery first -
Find ANY file and make a zip from it called "update.zip"
You should test and see if this method works first, therefore download an official firmware from HERE - rename this file "update1.zip" (or anything other that "update.zip").
Connect your watch to your PC and transfer both files to the root of the watch.
On your watch: "About" -> "Firmware upgrade". Upgrade will fail and the watch will reboot in recovery mode.
(2) If you are familiar with CWM, you should know how to wipe user data, cache, dalvik and system. If not:
Use lower button to navigate (you can only go down, but it will circle back to the top) and upper button to execute.
Go to each of these and follow instruction to execute (choose "++++++++++ Go Back ++++++++++" to previous menu for the next item)
"Wipe data/factory reset"
"Wipe cache partition"
"Advanced" -> "Wipe dalvik cache"
"Mounts and storage" -> "format /system"
Then go back to main menu and choose "Apply update from nand" -> "choose zip from nand" -> choose "update1.zip" (or whatever name you gave to the firmware)
OPTION: you can wipe cache and dalvik again after installation (recommended by many modders)
"Reboot system now"
If update of the original firmware is successful, this means you passed the test. Now you can repeat the process using the rooted and modified firmware as "update1.zip".
THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THIS METHOD WILL WORK, but I think it should.
Got it
Ok i finally got it. The 32 bit was the key. Thanks so much for the help. Loving it, gonna root 2.3 and install.
Recovery mode tested and working :good:

The restore tool has issues with most 64bit machines. If you don't have one, you're best bet is to find a friend or family member that has a running XP system. OR, do you know how to create a dual boot on a pc?

Download Maja's DJDroid 6.0 rom (v3.5) , its rooted already
Bad links
Can somebody post those Superuser.apk and su binaries? The download link to geek's rom is bogus and is forcing me to download a bunch of junk.
I have the latest Kitkat firmware (3.7) and stock ROM already has su binary thru adb. My question is can I replace those files thru adb without packaging a zip?
Thanks,
Hi!
Does anyone know how to add the remote camera function in 3.7 ROM? The latest ROM that had it appears to be 3.1. I could not find it as an APK, so I think it is somehow else embedded in the ROM.

Rooting Xolo Q700S after beta 4.4.2 update

So the brilliant gentlemen at xolo have graciously provided us with a spectacular (albeit slightly buggy) update to android 4.4.2 kitkat for our xolo Q700S.
While this has a lot of advantages it lacks a clean and simple rooting method like framaroot or towelroot.
However, there is a slightly complex rooting method available to root our Q700S.
Our brothers with the Q1010i rooted their 4.4.2 devices with a method mentioned here
I just used the method given there and adapted it for our device. If any credit need be given they are owed to the original devs for porting and testing.
So lets get rooting!
1) Download Smartphone drivers for MTK devices from link given here ,unzip and.
- click install.bat
- if that doesn't work : run device management (run> devmgmt.msc). Turn off phone and plug in. Find MT65xx preloader. Update drivers. Browse local harddrive for drivers. Navigate to folder where you unzipped the drivers /SmartPhoneDriver/x86 or x64/infs. That should install drivers.
2) Download SP flashtool for windows from link given here.
3) Download CTR recovery for Q700s ported by tarun from this link
-best if you rename it to recovery.img
4)Download Scatter File for our device. (if it throws an error download scatter file from the attachments)
5) Download SuperSU by chainfire.
- rename to update.zip
- copy to root of sdcard.
Now ensure that you have a proper usb cable, wits, a strong nerve and basic knowledge of how to unbrick a phone if something goes wrong.
All boxes checked? Lets proceed.
>Run SP Flashtool
>Click Scatter-loading
>Select the .txt scatter file
>in the now visible options check only RECOVERY and double click the long empty green bar in the same row. Load recovery.img
>click DOWNLOAD on the top
>turn off phone and connect to PC.
>wait for bar on the bottom to go from red to yellow and then pop-up with download OK.
>now press vol+ and power and boot to recovery
>install.zip from sdcard
>let SuperSu install.
>reboot device (if it shows warning that may lose root access press no)
let android boot up!
if you did everything right then you have a rooted android 4.4.2 xolo q700S on your hands.
have fun!

Looking for kernel patch
It is indeed a great post and that'll gonna be helping people but I have a issue with Kernel or to say the root of this device, I have been using link2SD with JB with my sd card having a ext2 format but since I have moved to KK, it seem to have bugging me out all the way,
I can mount my sd card with ext4 but its useless and doesnt let me move my apps to 2nd partion as internal, eventhough I can use ext3 format which ends up with an error at mounting with unsupported transport end point, the reason made me to look for a kernel patch, I believe you'll try this and will be able to resolve for following readers and well thank you for this one.

Please try Aparted and make both partition as FAT32 & Primary than install Link2SD as a fresh app and it will ask to choose second partition type than select option FAT16/FAT32, It will ask for reboot it will work after that.
Simple way to flash Kitkat & root it (no need to flash stock recovery, use cwm):
1.Download 392.8 mb update.zip (here: http://d-h.st/MfB)
2.Unzip it, goto META-INF/com/google/android and replace the 'updater-script' with the one attached.
3. Now zip it back, and flash it with cwm, carliv etc...
4.To root it, download & flash SuperSu via cwm (here: http://goo.gl/OSKQRQ)

To install a custom ROM on your HTC DESIRE 820, here’s a brief tutorial guide:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1. You will need to first download the custom ROM you want to install. These ROMs come in a “zip” file format (so DO NOT UNZIP them) and usually 1 large file around 200MB to 1GB. Some ROMs may require you to install multiple files.
You can download these zip files straight to your phone or use your computer to download (as downloading on your computer may be more stable/effective/faster) then copy over to your phone’s storage.
Step 1. Once ROM zip files are downloaded/copied to your phone, get into TWRP RECOVERY MODE BY PRESSING volume down+power button together for about 3 seconds to enter bootloader menu.Choose “RECOVERY” using Volume Down key then hit Power button to enter TWRP recovery.
Before installing a ROM, you will want to do a “data wipe/factory reset” by hitting the “Wipe” button. This will erase all your settings, apps, and app data (but not personal photos/videos on your storage). I highly recommend using Titanium Backup app to backup your apps, SMS Backup & Restore app to backup your SMS text messages, and use an online service such as GMail or Facebook to backup your contacts. Most online service providers like GMail or Facebook offer built-in ability to auto backup/restore your contacts.
*Optional – You can try installing a custom ROM without wipe, but this is considered risky and dangerous as sometimes the ROM may not boot. You can make a backup ROM if you are going to try this route so you can restore easily. Also, this can keep your settings, apps, and app data without restoring them.
Step 2. Once wipe is done (or you have decided not to wipe but have backup ROM), simply use the “Install” option in main menu and find the ROM zip file you need to install. If there’s multiple files, simple install them one by one until you are done.
Step 3. Once done installing custom ROM, reboot and cross your fingers your phone will boot. If your phone boots within 5-10 minutes you should be good to go. If not, you can try re-installing ROM, especially if you did not wipe, try re-installing after wiping.
To copy ROM file into SD card:
-------------------------------------
Boot TWRP, then select “Mount”, then select only “Data” and connect your HTC DESIRE 820 to your computer with usb debugging enabled.
Then download fastboot.zip and unzip, you probably will find a new directory called fastboot under your Downloads directory.
Copy the ROM you want to install to the fastboot folder.
Open a command prompt then type:
cd Downloads\fastboot
adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/.
Replace ROM.zip with the ROM filename you copied earlier to fastboot folder.
This will copy your ROM to the internal storage so once it’s done, just use TWRP to install ROM.
To backup the ROM after installing:
----------------------------------------------
Backing up a ROM will backup everything on your phone including your settings, apps, app data, kernel, and the whole ROM. It will not backup your personal photos or videos stored in your internal storage but it will backup everything else.
This can be handy later down the road your HTC DESIRE 820 malfunctions. For example, if your phone stops booting for some reason (due to bad custom ROMs or apps), you can easily restore your phone to a previous state by restoring your ROM.
If you “still” haven’t made a backup ROM, I highly suggest you to follow this tutorial to make a backup ROM.
Step 1. Make sure “Fast boot” is checked OFF under Settings->Power.
Step 2. Power off your HTC DESIRE 820. Then hold down Volume Down and Power buttons together for about 3 seconds to enter bootloader menu.
Step 3. Choose “RECOVERY” using Volume Down key then hit Power button to enter TWRP recovery.
Step 4. Once inside TWRP recovery, you can easily choose “Backup” or “Restore” to backup or restore ROM, it’s that simple.
Step 5. If you are backing up ROM, make sure “Boot”, “Data”, and “System” are checked and swipe to start backup. Backup process should take about 5-10 minutes or longer depending on how many apps you’ve installed on your phone.
Backups are usually large between 1-5GB depending on how many apps you’ve installed. They are stored in your internal storage under TWRP/BACKUP directory. You can easily save space by moving these files to your computer and move them back to the same location when you need to restore your phone.
Step 6. When restoring ROM, you will find your backups organized by folders. You can name your folders while backing up otherwise they will be stored with the timestamp of the time you backed them up.
Download ROM file from HTC deire 820 android development forum they given your orginal ROM for installing.

It just the general rule of all companies to void warranty if the user root its device and same goes for HTC also, atleast in my country (India).

Unable to download twrp recovery.zip please help me..
Be carefull of links which state there is 5.0 available for our device
drsobhan -
Please refrain from using or downloading ROM or any other files from other websites. The website you listed did not look genuine.
- HTC should provide us the with an update and source code will be available
- Cynaogen or other third party would provide us with an update
- XDA senior developers can provide link
One CM launches the rom there could be other providers like MIUI etc... but till the time please refrain from such websites
Refer to the following side for all builds supported by CM
