Well it is hard to come up with a question...I contacted customer service because I am tired of data disconnects and seems to be a phone issue since seems to happen on all ROMs plus I have a bad screen and emmc chip..and one of the corners on the screen is a little lose (i think due to a fall so it clicks as i swipe not a biggie though), anyways customer service first had me shift to 2g...no solution there then they said to go to a store and get a new sim card even though this is a brand new one that came with the phone in April. Can customer service tell if I contact them to say the problem still works after adding the new card or should I go in to get the card..plus I am afraid some jerk in the store would need my phone and would notice root....
So just wondering if I say I replaced it if they would go and do warranty replacement or would it show that i didn't change sim cards?

I don't think they can determine your Sim card. they always ask me to read the number out when I called customers service. You should just return your phone to stock, bring it to a store and tell them your story, but also say that you've already try changing Sim cards. You could even say you tried your friends Sim card and the same problem occurred. They'll most likely fill in an exchange form without much hassling because it doesn't affect their business anyways.

I have been having a battle with T Mobile ever since the day i got my ameo. I was having a problem getting the sim to register so after looking at the little picture of the simcard with the arrow under it I gently pushed it down a bit thinking it may 'Click' in like a memory card.
Unfortunately the simcard just kept moving and literally slid past the reader directly into the phone! and could not be removed. All you could see is the top edge at the bottom.
T mobile have said it was MY fault and voided my warranty but surely NO PHONE should allow this to happen.
A private phone repair shop has removed the simcard and said that nothing was broken inside the phone so therefore there was nothing in place to stop this happening.
I phoned HTC and the guy said that he could not push a simcard into the phone when he tried.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Has anyone got any advice on what i should do?
Its so annoying surely it is a manufacturing error to allow a card to go into a phone!
My first Ameo wouldnt recognise any sim. I returned it and got a replacement.
If the sim is out of the phone now and its working (ie, you can put it in so it works) dont worry. If it still wont work, just report it (but dont mention it going inside) as a broken phone, DOA. They will replace if its brand new, they HAVE to directly replace it up to 14 days after purchase.
this all happened 30 days ago!
the phone has been to tmobiles repair people and to this private firm who have removed it.
its a long long story
i dont want anyone to mess up their phone but i would like to know if anyone can push their simcard past the sim reader.
I am going to argue that it is a manufacturing error not my fault as the HTC tech person said his ameo/advantage would not allow this to happen.
IMHO The Simcard holder is absolutely awful in the Ameo. Its not entirely obvious the first time which way in it should go and I found that it will take a card the wrong way (upside down). And once its in, its pretty darn hard to remove it again. Just glad I've not had these issues.
First - if the problem happened in the first 14 days (never mind how long ago that is now), T-Mob should replace it. I have found you have to argue with them but eventually they give up.
If not, did you not get the T-Mobile insurance? If so, make a claim for accidental damage?
i didnt take out insurance, so i guess i will have to argue my case.
i should get it back today so i will take it from there.
my missus even offered to join TMOBILE so i could get another phone as my bday present! but thats gonna b a last resort.
Basically the phone should not allow this to happen IMO

I agree - and it is an odd design (as is the flap which covers the relevant slots). Good luck.
well looks i have have had a result!
I got it back to day and its now working , however its a bit scratched
Tmobile are going to replace the handset!
Glad to hear they are finally doing the right thing. I was going to say, persist.
But its sorted now, so you can finally relax and enjoy your phone.
cheers for that chaps i was getting a bit stressed about it all!
i have been streaming live Tv via ORB on my high speed unlimited connection , SUPERB!
I believe I've bricked my Ozone. It powers on and stays at the HTC screen. I've done a factory rom update with no success. What are my options? Is there anyone on the forum that offers repair?
I'm in the same boat. Got a Verizon Ozone from a someone who decided that the phone was dead for good. It would be nice to get it up and running though as I'm kind of in need of a smartphone at the moment.
What I've heard is that all he tried to do was the official 6.5 upgrade but, in the words of Dr. House: everybody lies. The bootloader reads SPL-0.44.0000 and I've been able to flash the official 6.5 CEDAIMG.nbh from an sd card but nothing changes there either; it just sits at the first HTC screen.
Of all the options I've read about, the last is a goldcard but I have also read that the Ozone/Cedar doesn't have one yet. Is that worth looking into? Any ideas what's actually going on with the phone that makes it hang?
Hit the back button... sorry for the double post. =)
That's pretty much what happened to mine. I called HTC and sent the phone in for repair.
Keep this post updated as to how that goes. If it works out, I might give them a call too. Were you covered by any sort of warranty? Any big hurdles to jump over to get them to replace the device? Any cost to you?
Fingers crossed that it works out!
So far I believe it's covered under warranty. They called me Monday and asked for the factory sim card to repair it. I wonder if it needs the sim card in to do a factory rom install? I should hear back soon.
Hmm... That's kind of weird. I wouldn't think they would need it. =/ I just called PCD today and got the address for sending my mobile in with instructions to remove all cards. Hopefully someone else gets assigned mine. =)
My friend didn't dig up the SIM since I'm planning on using the phone between Washington and Vancouver, B.C. so, hopefully they don't ask for it in my case!
Thanks for the update!
Don't ship UPS. I did, and they charged me $16 - said it was because of their address.
Well, I'm off to the Post Office to send this thing to NY. Hopefully the turnaround time is reasonable and if they can't/won't actually fix it, I can get it back in case xda discovers anything out about this problem.
Let me know if you hear anything else about you phone.
I got mine back today. According to the paper work they had to replace the phones main board. This thing is bone stock. It's carrier locked too, I don't know how to unlock it. I can't program it because it wants me to press the send key to activate which dials *228. But I need to dial *22890. Dunno how to do this when it won't let me dial anything.
Time to try to do a non factory rom and brick it again!
I think it took about 3 weeks. Did you send yours with the sim card just in case they need it?
Did any ozone users try the new verizon 6.5 rom to fix the bricking?
I did. No luck.
I can deal with 3 weeks if need be... glad to hear your phone is back though! Are you on Verizon? I assume so if you're dealing with an Ozone but can never be too sure. =) What do you mean by "carrier locked"? Are you refering to the SIM slot? The stock Ozone comes locked to their Vodaphone SIM and you have to call Verizon or pay for an unlock code. If they changed the mainboard then it's probably like a brand new phone. HTC Snap on VZW Sim Unlock
I actually don't have a SIM attached to my account right now since I moved back to my old phone and the card is boxed up somewhere... =/ If they ask for it, I'll just be telling them that I don't have plans to be using it and will SIM unlock the phone when I go to the Phillipines. My phone just hit NY so, I'll let you know what happens to me!

Totally didn't catch this question up above! Yeah, I did also... using both the USB and SD card methods. The bootloader looked like it worked just fine but when the phone would go to boot for the first time, it would freeze at the first HTC screen. I mentioned this in another thread but the Sprint Snap apparently had an issue with similar symptoms which resulted in a hotfix from HTC..
I unpacked it and it looks like just a PRL. If only there was a hotfix like this for the Ozone; would have saved me a bit of time.
Hi Guys,
Yesterday my Galaxy S2 suddenly stopped picking up signal. It basically spends most of its time with either no bars or displaying a big circle with a line through it instead of the bars.
I went for a drive around town and it occasionally picks up a signal but usually only 1 or 2 bars, and it doesn't keep it very long.
I tried upgrading to the latest firmware using KIES and also tried a factory reset. No luck.
I tried my sim card in another phone and it worked fine. Tried another sim card in my phone and again got no signal.
Any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking the antenna is broken or something .
Any thing further I can do to diagnose/troubleshoot it? This is my first android phone so please treat me like a complete noob
I have not rooted or put on any custom roms, etc.
Cheers,
Martin
If its an unhacked phone clean the sim card make sure its seated .
Factory reset you have done so i would return to vendor .
jje
Is there a way to tell if it is trying to use the internal antenna or external?
Is there a way to force it to use the internal antenna?
Actually I got a same problem like you. And I had rooted it. Hoho~~
I contacted with Samsung servive centre, they said it's a small problem, but don't took long time and money on it within warranty.
I will go ther again with my receipt.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I've actually sent mine to samsung for warranty repair too, unfortunately becuase I am in Australia and bought the phone from the UK I had to send it back there, and due to a customs hold up it only got to Samsung yesterday .
However, the information in your post gives me hope that it won't take long for them to repair it and they won't kick up a warranty fuss, so hopefully I will have it back soon.
Cheers,
Martin
Hi guys, Im with Telus and my phone has been restarting randomly and over heating and giving me an error message that says replace storage card. This is what I have been through in the past couple weeks. I gave my phone to Telus and told them the problem. Couple weeks later I got it back and was told LG reflashed my phone.
For a couple hours it worked then when I got home it went back to restarting randomly, and sometimes it would say replace storage card like before, then I would have to take out the battery and put it back in and it will be stuck on the LG logo and I would have to repeatidly take out the battery and put it back in until my phone boots up again.
So I went back to Telus they sent the phone back to LG, LG reflashed the device again but now my phone doesnt say storage card missing it just totally hard resets and erases everything on my phone each time!
Now im a little pissed and I call Telus and the lady was understanding and nice and told me they will replace my phone with another Lg optimus 7 for free if I go to the telus store i bought my phone at, and if theres any problem to call us back.
Today I went to Telus store and the lady working there told me they dont replace phones for free so I called Telus customer service and that lady told me I was misinformed and she wouldn't budge so I left the store.
This is really frustrating, what should I do? I understand a lot of you probably aren't in Canada and dont know Telus policies but I heard this is a known defective problem in some LG e900h phones. And wondering what I should do, should i give it in for another repair or what?
Thanks
Internal WP7 memory are in fact...SD Card and WP7 need it to store system data.
So it seems that the connection between your sd card slot and your motherboard is defective.
Since you cannot access the slot, forget Telus and try to contact LG directly.
Telus must provide a warranty but don't forget that it doesn't void the "manufacturer warranty"
And don't forget to explain them the Telus inefficient support ^^
That's odd that Telus isn't replacing your phone, I had similar issues when I bought my phone near the device launch, so I took it back, and they replaced it with no questions asked. Did you purchase your phone from a corporate telus store? or from an authorized dealer? That shouldn't matter anyway, I bought mine from a dealer in Calgary
thanks for the reply guys... I bought it a telus retail store... the most frustrating part is the first lady told me after contacting her support staff that I could get it replaced ... but when I got there, they decided to screw me. Anyways im going to try to contact telus one more time, then LG.

Unfortunately, you are incorrect with regards to the SD Card ... Both LG and Samsung phones have internal NAND flash made by Toshiba. This was revealed through teardowns and repair manuals. So, there is no way to replace the memory on a Optimus 7 without a complete logic board change.
Oops, saw wp7 phone teardowns months ago and nand was "faked" by simple sd cards. Must have been HTC phones.
Thx for rectification
I occasional get the error about the SIM card being removed and need to reboot. Sometimes a reboot takes care of it and other times I have to take the SIM out and clean it. Then it works for a couple weeks.
Anyone have experience with getting another SIM from sprint? Do they charge for it? Do you need to get one from a retail store or can you activate one you buy online?
I have a custom ROM so is that going to lead to problems?(which is why I wanted to avoid going to a location) Will they care about the ROM in store? If buy a replacement SIM does it need OTA activation so I need a S4 sprint ROM?

I have the same issue with mine. It started off occasionally happening then finally quit altogether. I'm rooted on stock rom, they didn't seem to notice but told me I'd have to deal with Samsung about it since it's still covered under manufacturer warranty. While at the store they did insert a new sim card to test if mine was bad or not, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Here they would charge $10 for a new sim. Now I've been reading mixed reviews on whether Samsung will repair a manufacturer defect on a rooted device. I suppose it depends on the tech you get repairing it.
edit:
as far as the activation of the sim card I don't believe that's the case. I removed my sim card and put it in my girlfriends same model s4 and the lte functioned fine. ie. my sim is fine but the card slot itself is defective
