RAM saver, disable facebook uploadmanager service - Galaxy S I9000 General

Okay, guys, I was noticing new version of facebook has an uplaodmanager service running, nice for uploading photos from phone but time to time I noticed it was eating RAM upto ~34MBs (it can show you also 6MBs but as I said I have seen many times upto 34MBs), a lot for a service and don't use this service.
Titanium backup can't freeze service, as far as I have explored, may be overlooked.
To disable the service (stopping it does not work as it started automatically after some time)
Only for rooted phone (enable usb debugging first)
1. Go to terminal emulator
2. type su to get super user permissions
3. then type and hit enter
pm disable com.facebook.katana/com.facebook.katana.service.UploadManager
4. off you go
it might be started again on next reboot hence should be disabled again or make a script widget to run it.
It worked for me, may be there is a better way if so please share or use above.

thanks man

make a shortcut in your desktop of running services and click and stop services

I use titanium backup to freeze facebook, I then defrost it before I use it, saves lot of memory, I also disable voodoo saving more!
Sent using TCP/IP

In my case com.facebook.katana was killing my battery, I disabled FB sync and now battery life is back to normal.

Lags!!!

Guys, i`m using Z5 for 3 days, and i have to say that there`s constantly lags in the interface! I didn`t install any special hard apps, i`m using standard apps, what`s app, maps, some benchmarks, 2-3 games.. I don`t know what could it be ? I thought that lags maybe because of SD card. I turned it off, but lags still exists.
Does anyone else has it ?

My Z5 has a little bit lag too.
Mine seems ok. Do you find it throughout or just using the home launcher etc? I come from a Nexus 5 and it seems just as smooth but i have scrapped off stock launcher for Google now launcher
Sent from my Xperia z5 by Tapatalk
Same story here Bro. Most of my lags are in the browser, camera app and closing apps. Hopefully it will be fixed in future updates. I'm also not happy with my camera, my old G3 has shaper pictures. The camera in this seems a tad blury.
im pretty sure its a software issue, even Z1 didn't have this kind of UI-lag, compared to Z3 it's a joke, it's nothing wrong with the Z5 hardware
hope Sony fix it with a update soon.
Mine lags too, especially when switching back from app drawer to widget pane where weather and other widgets are placed on the same screen
Stuttering is strongly visible
Mine lags and stutters quite a lot. Only standard apps installed too.
I think this firmware, although it says 5.1.1, is old. Seems more like the 5.0.2 version.
Note when you plug in the charger, you can see 'time to charged' notification on the lock screen.
The Z1 and the Z3 both lost this feature when upgrading from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1
Mine lags a lot when using the 'close all' button on the recent screen.
Initial release firmware for ya. Updates will come.
How about if you stop using the close all apps button and let the system do it's job and see if you still get the lags. We're not on gingerbread any more. The clear all button is pointless
Sent from my Xperia z5 by Tapatalk
i blocked and deleted some system apps trough adb and for me isn't any lag.
I disabled some apps I don't use, installed a different launcher (Nova Prime) and the lag is non-existent now. I had some lag/stutters with the stock launcher though and I was disappointed at first when I received and used my phone fort the first time.

You are right there. It does work faster when you don't clear the background apps.
I said somewhere else that this firmware feels old to me, compared to my Z3. The time to charge notification on the lock screen for example. That disappeared when updating my Z1 and Z3 to 5.1.1, but it's still on the Z5, and some options are missing, like smart rotation.
I'm sure the lags will get ironed out over time with updates.

To be honest it feels like Sony didn't want to waste too much time and resources on Lollipop for the Z5 since Marshmallow is around the corner. The Z5 is a new phone and Lollipop will be at best a transition firmware.

Yeah, I think so to. I'm even wondering if they'll bother with any updates to 5.1.1. Depends when they're looking to roll out 6 I guess.

nope, root doesn't needed.
you have to install adb on pc and enabled usb debugging on z5
then you have to open cmd as admin and connect phone via usb cable
now navigate to folder when you have installed adb for egz. c:\adb
then write adb usb, wait till connect to phone, agree connection on it
now you can use some options to hide (lock) or uninstall some apps
Code:
adb shell
pm hide com.sonymobile.androidapp.cameraaddon.areffect
pm hide com.google.android.gm
pm hide com.google.android.play.games
pm hide com.google.android.apps.plus
pm hide com.sonymobile.playanywhere
pm hide com.s.antivirus
pm hide com.sonymobile.entrance
pm hide com.android.galaxy4
pm hide com.android.stk
pm hide google.android.apps.maps
pm hide com.sonymobile.support
pm hide com.facebook.system
pm hide com.mobisystems.fileman
pm hide com.google.android.apps.hangouts
pm hide com.google.android.music
pm hide com.sony.snei.vu
pm hide com.google.android.apps.docs
exit
adb reboot
here you have code what im using, you can also try change "hide" to "uninstall" and try if something can be uninstalled.
for the end write reboot on cmd and exit. thats all. cheers
the previous Z5 i had which was a REV 2 E6653 also lags after clicking "clear all button," with the new device they sent me which is REV 3 has the same issue. I seriously dont know what is causing this lag for this button lol. Hope it is a software bug.
on Rev 4 -- TW model -- same issues, did a factory reset, which weirdly enough fixed a lot of the lag for me. Though honestly.. Android L is just terrible. Hopefully Sony just dropped L to work on M.
So much drama. I have experienced zero lag with this phone. It's a very good phone and my. 1st non nexus phone. If you have doubts, go into the store and give it a spin

Any way to disable Sony apps without root?

Seems like at least once or twice a day some Sony app that I never use leaves some notification in my status bar. Is there any way to disable these Sony apps? I think the "What's New" app is one of the worst offenders.
Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
You can always try to completely disable notifications from the app
I think there is a way to disable them through the adb shell. I recall doing something similar on my Z3 that didn't require root. I will look into it further and get back to you. If any other person has this knowledge, post away.

[GUIDE] Stop Google Play Services Wakelocks (AppMeasurement, net_scheduler, etc.)

Hello everybody,
*the undermentioned methods and app(s) require root*
So, you are here because:
1) You don't like your device doing stuff you didn't make it do.
2) You want to minimize wakelocks
3) You just saw the two before mentioned wakelocks and already decided you want to get rid of them.
For this, you will need to download My Android Tools
Disclaimer: Disabling some services/receivers may "crash" the app. I found it is normal, just go back to where you were and check if you managed to disable the thing you wanted, if yes, then it was successful.
Huge thanks to MeggaMortY for the method
1. Open the app
2. Click on the top left to open the panel, click on Broadcast Receiver.
3. On the menu that opens go to the right column named System. Click search on the top right, type "Play" and choose the Google Play Services option.
4. In the search bar there type at least "ana" and disable the two found results with the names "AnalyticsReceiver" and "AnalyticsSamplerReceiver"
5. Hit x and search again for at least "meas". You will see three results with the names "AppMeasurementInstallReferrerReceiver", "AppMeasurementReceiver" and "PackageMeasurementReceiver*". Disable all three.
6. Go to services->system->Google Play Services->search "meas"->disable "AppMeasurementService" , "MeasurementBrokerService and
"PackageMeasurementService".
7. "Campaign Tracking" . I only found it in the same System menu, in Android Pay, by searching at least "cam" you get the result "CampaignTrackingReceiver". Disable it if you feel you want to. I don't use Android Pay and cannot say if it breaks something there, but otherwise have it disabled and haven't noticed any problems so far.
8. Search for Google Play Store in System. In that option, search for at least "app" and disable "AppMeasurementReceiver". Hit x and search for "fir", then disable the two results with names "FirebaseInstanceIdInternalReceiver" and "FirebaseInstanceIdReceiver"
8. Done. All the setttings are now global for any sort of app measurements, as far as I know.
The second approach will get rid of the "net_scheduler" wakelock. Thanks to denon480 for this method
1. Open the app
2. Click on the top left corner to open the menu panel.
3. Click on Broadcast Receiver
4. Navigate to the System pane
5. Click on search on the top right. Search for Google Play Services. Click on them when they show up
6. In the search top right, write at least "sche" and you will see the two receivers responsible for the "net_scheduler wakelock, "SchedulerInternalReceiver" and "SchedulerReceiver".
7. Switch the first one off. The app will quit, don't worry.
8. Go back to where you were (steps 1 to 6) . You will see that you indeed managed to switch that receiver off.
9. Switch the second one off. The app will quit, again no worries.
10. Check if you managed to switch the second one as well. After that you're done!
So now you should definitely see less wakelocks and idle battery drain. I know there is nothing fancy in these methods but just thought of sharing this with you all
Could you uninstall the app after this or does the app need to stay installed for the effects to take place?

Thank you for this methode i will try it
I have tried that weeks ago, when I first got my 3T and there was absolutely no improvement by disabling these services, showing that these are not responsible for the battery problems.
If someone is rooted, then using Amplify, Naptime and AKT profiles will offer some real results regarding battery.

Isn't Amplify an Xposed module and not available for Nougat yet? My battery drains excessively with the screen on, it has never been so bad until recently. I'm at 51% with 1 hour 53 mins SOT. I used to get 6-7 hours .

No matter which version u have installed, the app's icon should be in the app's list in order to run the application.

Hi, Im running the last version of the stock os (usually I don't tend to install roms unless there are performance issues) eu
Basiccally I was downloading some photos from my Facebook (lite) account, and the anterior camera popped out itself, it shouldnt do that since I never launch any command for doing so (yeah Im quite paranoid)
Also Facebook should not have any camera access
I tryed a scan with avast, malwarebytes they didnt find anything.. So wth has happened?

S10 Beta 3 Update Issue

Hi,
After the latest beta 3 update to Android 10, my phone is asking for a password or FP to shut off?????
It has never done this before, is there a setting for this, I have looked but see nothing on this,
Thanks for any help,
Ken
This is a new feature introduced in beta 3 for security purposes. I quite like it actually. Prevents the phone being shutdown if stolen so one can use a device tracker or remotely wipe the device.
What if the battery is drained ?
Hi,
A feature I see no use for at all. Looking for a way to shut it off. Why add crap that is always on and no way to disable???
Just my 2 cents,
Ken
