[GUIDE] Stop Google Play Services Wakelocks (AppMeasurement, net_scheduler, etc.) - OnePlus 3T Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello everybody,
*the undermentioned methods and app(s) require root*
So, you are here because:
1) You don't like your device doing stuff you didn't make it do.
2) You want to minimize wakelocks
3) You just saw the two before mentioned wakelocks and already decided you want to get rid of them.
For this, you will need to download My Android Tools
Disclaimer: Disabling some services/receivers may "crash" the app. I found it is normal, just go back to where you were and check if you managed to disable the thing you wanted, if yes, then it was successful.
Huge thanks to MeggaMortY for the method
1. Open the app
2. Click on the top left to open the panel, click on Broadcast Receiver.
3. On the menu that opens go to the right column named System. Click search on the top right, type "Play" and choose the Google Play Services option.
4. In the search bar there type at least "ana" and disable the two found results with the names "AnalyticsReceiver" and "AnalyticsSamplerReceiver"
5. Hit x and search again for at least "meas". You will see three results with the names "AppMeasurementInstallReferrerReceiver", "AppMeasurementReceiver" and "PackageMeasurementReceiver*". Disable all three.
6. Go to services->system->Google Play Services->search "meas"->disable "AppMeasurementService" , "MeasurementBrokerService and
"PackageMeasurementService".
7. "Campaign Tracking" . I only found it in the same System menu, in Android Pay, by searching at least "cam" you get the result "CampaignTrackingReceiver". Disable it if you feel you want to. I don't use Android Pay and cannot say if it breaks something there, but otherwise have it disabled and haven't noticed any problems so far.
8. Search for Google Play Store in System. In that option, search for at least "app" and disable "AppMeasurementReceiver". Hit x and search for "fir", then disable the two results with names "FirebaseInstanceIdInternalReceiver" and "FirebaseInstanceIdReceiver"
8. Done. All the setttings are now global for any sort of app measurements, as far as I know.
The second approach will get rid of the "net_scheduler" wakelock. Thanks to denon480 for this method
1. Open the app
2. Click on the top left corner to open the menu panel.
3. Click on Broadcast Receiver
4. Navigate to the System pane
5. Click on search on the top right. Search for Google Play Services. Click on them when they show up
6. In the search top right, write at least "sche" and you will see the two receivers responsible for the "net_scheduler wakelock, "SchedulerInternalReceiver" and "SchedulerReceiver".
7. Switch the first one off. The app will quit, don't worry.
8. Go back to where you were (steps 1 to 6) . You will see that you indeed managed to switch that receiver off.
9. Switch the second one off. The app will quit, again no worries.
10. Check if you managed to switch the second one as well. After that you're done!
So now you should definitely see less wakelocks and idle battery drain. I know there is nothing fancy in these methods but just thought of sharing this with you all

Could you uninstall the app after this or does the app need to stay installed for the effects to take place?

Thank you for this methode i will try it

I have tried that weeks ago, when I first got my 3T and there was absolutely no improvement by disabling these services, showing that these are not responsible for the battery problems.
If someone is rooted, then using Amplify, Naptime and AKT profiles will offer some real results regarding battery.

Isn't Amplify an Xposed module and not available for Nougat yet? My battery drains excessively with the screen on, it has never been so bad until recently. I'm at 51% with 1 hour 53 mins SOT. I used to get 6-7 hours .

Xposed is available unofficially for months now and Amplify works fine.
If u r already rooted then there are many things u can try to improve your battery drain.

That's very strange.
No matter which version u have installed, the app's icon should be in the app's list in order to run the application.
I have no clue why u don't have it in your case.
For me it works fine and I haven't read about any similar case at the dedicated thread.

RAM saver, disable facebook uploadmanager service

Okay, guys, I was noticing new version of facebook has an uplaodmanager service running, nice for uploading photos from phone but time to time I noticed it was eating RAM upto ~34MBs (it can show you also 6MBs but as I said I have seen many times upto 34MBs), a lot for a service and don't use this service.
Titanium backup can't freeze service, as far as I have explored, may be overlooked.
To disable the service (stopping it does not work as it started automatically after some time)
Only for rooted phone (enable usb debugging first)
1. Go to terminal emulator
2. type su to get super user permissions
3. then type and hit enter
pm disable com.facebook.katana/com.facebook.katana.service.UploadManager
4. off you go
it might be started again on next reboot hence should be disabled again or make a script widget to run it.
It worked for me, may be there is a better way if so please share or use above.
thanks man

You can also use greenify and hibernate it.... Greenify will do all the stuff automatically....

Greenify now working without ROOT!

As quoted on their v2.0 update,
What's New
v2.0 (rolling out)
Greenify now works on non-root devices! Try out the non-root working mode (without automatic hibernation due to privilege restriction).
Shortcut "Hibernate All" can now be created also from main menu in Greenify.
Greatly improved the stability of auto-hibernation service, especially on Android 4.4+.

Now if only they can get TiBu to work without root, I'd no longer have a reason to root my device..

Seems like I still can't hibernate some apps. I can't get it to work.

Automatic hibernation, automatically hibernate apps that you manually set to hibernate?

automatically hibernate what I already manually hibernated? I am sure that there is something missing
or do you mean that it will re-hibernate the apps after opening them or restarting the device?

Yes, it will re-hibernate the apps after opening or after using them. BUT auto-hibernation doesn't work with non-rooted phones.

Totally unusable without rooting.

Only useful to stop battery drain if you know u will be without a charger four a long number of hours.
Otherwise more hassle than its worth.

Mine is working and my Z1 is not rooted, it just ask to force stop the application first, then it will hibernate the app. Check it again.

Well, if you have any unwanted apps that runs on the background and eats the juice of your battery, greenify will put them to sleep.

My point is that it's more hassle to do all the force closing than recharging more frequently.
The only time it's really helpful is if u will be without a charger for a really really long time and you have no choice but to slow down battery drain.
I have root and Paid Greenify, my Battery is amazing and Paid Version adds nice Features.

Once all apps are force closed by the app... The drain is almost zero.
There is an option to automate it

There is an option to automate it (for non rooted). You still have to select the "hibernate now" manually but it will then automatically force close all the apps selected by you for greenifying..I have had this since about 3 months or so. It works only on my Xperia Z1 but not on my Galaxy Tab (GT-P3113) (which is on 4.2.2)

ExistenZ Marshmallow problems and solutions

Our beloved developer @niaboc79 is getting very tired of people always asking the same questions and posting their problems in the development topic of his rom.
So I decided to make this topic in the "general" section of the forum where people can post about their problems and hopefully some solutions, in the hopes that it will help him and the people having problems at the same time.
Whenever a cause or a solution for a problem is found, I will put it in the second post, right underneath this one.
I want to make clear that I'm not an expert and cannot help much myself, I will just collect and centralize information, and I'm in no way affiliated with @niaboc79 and his work, and do absolutely not deserve any credits for his work.
Also there is no guarantee that the information I collect and post in the second post will be a solution for your problem even if it has apparently worked for other people with similar symptoms.
I invite everyone that uses his rom to share helpful information here. (please)
Firstly ; a copy of the FAQ that @niaboc79 posted himself. You should read it before asking questions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How to flash the DRM fix and avoid loosing of recovery
A:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67111204&postcount=1169
Q: Hey, that thing doesn't work!
A: Check if there isn't an (*) at the right of setting description, that means that you must restart SystemUI.
If it is not the case, try to enable/disable option a few time and reboot or read thread to find an answer.
Q: Why is there greyed options in eXistenZ settings!
A: These otions aren't available yet.
Q: Weather isn't working on lockscreen or in expanded status bar...
A: Go in settings/eXistenZ/Notification Panel/Weather Settings;
Press on Weather panel icon, then on Display weather switch;
Select OpenWeatherMap as Weather source;

Recovery access problems:
-Don't update busybox
-Don't update Kernel
-Don't flash DRM fix (see FAQ)
If you haven't done one of the above, you should be able to enter recovery by pressing volume down (repeatedly) while starting up the phone.
If you did do one of the above, simply reflash the rom.
Note: since version 4.7 (or alternatively version 3.9) lag is no longer appearing in the rom. If you do witness lag on 4.7 (3.9) there is probably something that you have done that is causing it. Check and double check your apps and settings before trying other solutions in that case!
Lag problems:
-Update to rom version 4.7 (or 3.9 for the rom based on the beta firmware)
-Follow the instructions posted here on rom version prior to 4.7 (3.9)
If you still witness lag after that:
-After installing, give the rom some time to settle, it has to index all your files and the memory management still has to find out what apps (you) are running. This takes a long time (depending on your usage) so give it some days.
-Some xposed modules and Greenify are known causes. Disable that if you use them and see if the lag still persists. If it is gone, you can find the exact module/setting that is the cause by disabling just one module/setting at a time and try if the lag has gone. (this also counts for other problems by the way)
-Stamina mode makes the phone slower as it lowers processor speed etc. Turn it off and check if the lag has gone.
-Many (also popular) apps use quite a lot of system ressources even if you aren't using them. You could uninstall your apps, then reinstall them one at a time, use the phone a bit to check if the lag came back, if not install the next app, and so on until you find the app that is making your phone lag/behave weird.
-Never restore a titanium backup (or similar) when coming from a lollipop rom. There are several differences between lollipop and marshmallow so you risk to restore incompatible stuff.
-Activating blur in recents causes lag (v 3.5, should be solved with the next update of the rom) Fixed in final version
Profile picture (top right of status bar) won't remain after reboot:
-Open the contacts app and go to the first contact (that should contain info about you, and no image) and choose the picture you would like to see in stead of the blue user icon (click on the pencil and then on the image)
Now the image for the user switch in the status bar has been changed too, and it will stick after reboot.
Switch user causes a crash of the beta feedback app and doesn't work
-Remove beta feedback app
You can now switch users, although the system will crash/reboot, it does switch. (will be fixed in a future release of the rom) Fixed in final version
Reserved for later use

By just looking at that image, not really.
I see that you haven't used your phone much during the time of the picture, so no apps are using battery, nor your screen. That automatically makes the operating system the most consuming thing, as it is needed to keep the phone running.

Click on the app to see what is consuming (radio, processing.... ) if it is the radio, maybe you had very bad connection. If it's the process that prevents the processor going to sleep you should try to find out what is running all the time.

I've experienced that in my Gmail app.

I'm leaning on thinking it's the Doze.
Yes it is. Have to go into the apps that I have to have notifications for and have them not be optimized. -Settings-Battery-Battery Optimization, then click whichever app I HAVE to have notifications for (Gmail, Hangouts, etc) and then make them not be optimized. I have never had this issue on any other phone so it must be OxygenOS. It will even get rid of notifications that have been showing. I have seen Gmail notifications disappear on many occasions as I am looking at the notification. I have searched the OnePlus forums and this apparently has been an issue in OOS for QUITE awhile. I am AMAZED it is still an issue. OOS even prevents my weather app from showing notifications initially until I go in and have the OS not optimize app. I use Today Weather. Again... BAFFLING that this is still an issue... And I have seen NO ONE until you mention it in this forum....

This is just a bug in the charts. not draining any battery. Same goes for Bluetooth did a test last night connecting the bt with 50% battery left and this morning the charts shows like 4000000 mAh obviously way more than the battery itself

I don't think it's just bug in the chart, screen on time has reduced by around 1 hour after update.
I had filed bug report for this and I got solution that "Settings -> Google -> App preview messages and turn it of" and it did work.

Didn't work for me.Still Rcs wins the race..lol
There is some mess in stats, RCS contains many processes/packages, among them also Android system. This is why we don't see Android system anymore, but RCS instead. It must be fixed by Xiaomi.

RCS or Phone?
Icon shows RCS but app name is Phone.
Maybe both are part of same app but different services. If this is the case everyone has this problem or maybe its not a problem at all.
RCS stand for "Rich Communication service" wherein both calling parties are aware of each others presence and device capabilities etc. and your carrier shall also support this.
Factory reseted the phone and turned off app preview messages still rcs service is present.?
After turning off app preview messages RCS service is not longer present. Thanks buddy!!

I don't think so. Mine was showing both Android system and RCS service. After turning off that option RCS service gone away.

I still think so, on mine phone, in Gsam battery, RCS Phone consumes the most battery and one of its packages is Android system. But you are right that RCS Service is gone and I don't have always running stock messaging app anymore (I'm using Textra due to nasty bug of stock messaging app when it doesn't show and store random incoming SMS messages).
This is a bug with Google play services. If you turn off background data for Android system it will start showing up as RCS service in battery usage instead of Android system. Looks more like a problem with Android 8.0. Google play services with same version on Android 7 is not causing as much battery drain.
Let's wait for Android 8.1 with Jan security patch.
Update to latest January patch. Android system is not draining as much battery now.
Problem turned out after march security update. I have tried to turn off app message preview but it doesn't work.
