Yeah i also facing that
Me too facing this issue, it drains more than 20% of the battery. Feeling like cheated after updating to 8.0
Yes me too facing same. Its basically Android System sometimes renamed rcs service.
But on nougat we were not facing this issue.
Any fixes.?
This is just a bug in the charts. not draining any battery. Same goes for Bluetooth did a test last night connecting the bt with 50% battery left and this morning the charts shows like 4000000 mAh obviously way more than the battery itself

https://photos.app.goo.gl/UhWApDWWFRJoSEJM2
I don't think it's just bug in the chart, screen on time has reduced by around 1 hour after update.
I had filed bug report for this and I got solution that "Settings -> Google -> App preview messages and turn it of" and it did work.

Didn't work for me.Still Rcs wins the race..lol
There is some mess in stats, RCS contains many processes/packages, among them also Android system. This is why we don't see Android system anymore, but RCS instead. It must be fixed by Xiaomi.

RCS or Phone?
Icon shows RCS but app name is Phone.
Maybe both are part of same app but different services. If this is the case everyone has this problem or maybe its not a problem at all.
RCS stand for "Rich Communication service" wherein both calling parties are aware of each others presence and device capabilities etc. and your carrier shall also support this.
Factory reseted the phone and turned off app preview messages still rcs service is present.?
After turning off app preview messages RCS service is not longer present. Thanks buddy!!

I still think so, on mine phone, in Gsam battery, RCS Phone consumes the most battery and one of its packages is Android system. But you are right that RCS Service is gone and I don't have always running stock messaging app anymore (I'm using Textra due to nasty bug of stock messaging app when it doesn't show and store random incoming SMS messages).
This is a bug with Google play services. If you turn off background data for Android system it will start showing up as RCS service in battery usage instead of Android system. Looks more like a problem with Android 8.0. Google play services with same version on Android 7 is not causing as much battery drain.
Let's wait for Android 8.1 with Jan security patch.
Update to latest January patch. Android system is not draining as much battery now.
Problem turned out after march security update. I have tried to turn off app message preview but it doesn't work.

My S5 audibly started telling me the time every 5-10 minutes and I can't figure out how to turn it off. The other day it started to download a female English tts voice file from Samsung. I canceled the download and ever since then, sometimes every 5 minutes, it audibly tells me the time in British accent female voice. It does not notify me of anything else by voice such as incoming calls or text messages. The phone also beeps 3 times before it tells me the time, 2 lower pitched and one higher pitched beep. I was also getting a pop up telling me to "Download high quality voice file" from the Samsung Play Store every time it would start. I finally downloaded it and then deleted it but nothing changed.
Things I've tried that didn't work:
Looked at tts settings but couldn't find anything to change.
I found car docking was running and froze it.
Is there an app that logs everything that would allow me to track this down?
Anyone have any ideas?
Try settings/system/language and input/notification readout.
See if any of the readout options have been checked.

maybe uninstalling any recently added apps will narrow it down.
Only thing I can see is notification reminder beep in accessibility settings.
You can set it to beep a reminder for uncleared notifications.
Or dirty flash your rom to reset things.

I forgot to post back. I did finally figure it out. It was a setting in the app "AndroiTS GPS Test Free". There are several settings for voice messages and one "Enable voice messages for time" was checked. I don't know if that was the default setting or if I had changed it at some point. Anyway, I unchecked the box and all is well now!

Bravo Sir!
I install the Pro version last week (so I could test the speed of my electric scooter), and it randomly reads the every 5 minutes; So I might get the time @:
13:45
13:50
13:55
20:45
21:15
....
I also checked and it doesn't startup automatically.
I was browsing around some settings around night time and some apps were showing in Material Dark. It looks like it switches automatically based on time. I noticed it in Photos and Google Settings. My guess is that it's only happening in Google Apps. Any other System settings do not do this, and for some reason it's only on the second layer, as the previous screen is still Material Light (day or night). I asked my buddy sitting next to me with his N6 if his did it too, but it was only on my device. Both are running Marshmallow.
I did not edit any settings to do this.

I'm aware of the option in the first preview, but that was before the 6P was available so there was no way to enable it before the setting was taken away. My N6P is brand new on the latest factory image. I haven't messed with many of the settings, and I'm not rooted. I was surprised to see the dark theme myself.

Not much to retrace since I've been slowly inching my way to less modifications:
Receive phone.
Turn it on to make sure it works.
Check for updates - none.
Unlock bootloader.
Device gets wiped.
Flash latest factory image since no updates were found.
Soft boot TWRP and flash MoaAB.
Log in to my Google account and restore all apps from my previous phone.
Open any Google apps to log in and do the first run, and then log in to any other apps not Google. Restore SMS with SMS Backup & Restore.
Then the magical moment: it's night time and I'm messing with the Photos app to make sure backups only happen on WiFi. Something is odd, the theme is dark.
Today, I had to confirm that it's light again.
Post finding on XDA.
Reply to thread.
Wait for night again.
Post another update showing dark Google settings.
???
Profit.
Something just occurred to me: this could be a scenario similar to Maps Navigation where night mode becomes dark blue instead of gray once connected to Android Auto.
Android Auto has a dark theme for night time when the headlights turn on. Perhaps Android Auto has activated the automatic dark theme for me.
Anyone else with Android Auto and a N6P?
Edit: Just confirmed my N5 (MRA58K) exhibits similar behavior with the attached screenshots. I'm sticking with my Android Auto theory. My N7 still has the light theme only and has not been connected to Auto.
My Nexus 6 doesn't do that. I wonder why yours is broken. Curious.
@SamsungGalaxyStig your face is broken.
Actually, I've personally confirmed with the above idiot that this behavior is 100% activated by plugging into Android Auto. His device only showed Material Light until it was plugged in to my head unit.
@binglejellsx2 Your mouth is broken.
Yes we definitely confirmed it is Android auto related. I also personally confirmed @binglejellsx2 has a very delicate touch....on the matter.
@SamsungGalaxyStig your matter has a delicate touch confirmed with dark materials automatically in android autos all over your broken ear, personally

Yes it is. Have to go into the apps that I have to have notifications for and have them not be optimized. -Settings-Battery-Battery Optimization, then click whichever app I HAVE to have notifications for (Gmail, Hangouts, etc) and then make them not be optimized. I have never had this issue on any other phone so it must be OxygenOS. It will even get rid of notifications that have been showing. I have seen Gmail notifications disappear on many occasions as I am looking at the notification. I have searched the OnePlus forums and this apparently has been an issue in OOS for QUITE awhile. I am AMAZED it is still an issue. OOS even prevents my weather app from showing notifications initially until I go in and have the OS not optimize app. I use Today Weather. Again... Hello everybody,
*the undermentioned methods and app(s) require root*
So, you are here because:
1) You don't like your device doing stuff you didn't make it do.
2) You want to minimize wakelocks
3) You just saw the two before mentioned wakelocks and already decided you want to get rid of them.
For this, you will need to download My Android Tools
Disclaimer: Disabling some services/receivers may "crash" the app. I found it is normal, just go back to where you were and check if you managed to disable the thing you wanted, if yes, then it was successful.
Huge thanks to MeggaMortY for the method
1. Open the app
2. Click on the top left to open the panel, click on Broadcast Receiver.
3. On the menu that opens go to the right column named System. Click search on the top right, type "Play" and choose the Google Play Services option.
4. In the search bar there type at least "ana" and disable the two found results with the names "AnalyticsReceiver" and "AnalyticsSamplerReceiver"
5. Hit x and search again for at least "meas". You will see three results with the names "AppMeasurementInstallReferrerReceiver", "AppMeasurementReceiver" and "PackageMeasurementReceiver*". Disable all three.
6. Go to services->system->Google Play Services->search "meas"->disable "AppMeasurementService" , "MeasurementBrokerService and
"PackageMeasurementService".
7. "Campaign Tracking" . I only found it in the same System menu, in Android Pay, by searching at least "cam" you get the result "CampaignTrackingReceiver". Disable it if you feel you want to. I don't use Android Pay and cannot say if it breaks something there, but otherwise have it disabled and haven't noticed any problems so far.
8. Search for Google Play Store in System. In that option, search for at least "app" and disable "AppMeasurementReceiver". Hit x and search for "fir", then disable the two results with names "FirebaseInstanceIdInternalReceiver" and "FirebaseInstanceIdReceiver"
8. Done. All the setttings are now global for any sort of app measurements, as far as I know.
The second approach will get rid of the "net_scheduler" wakelock. Thanks to denon480 for this method
1. Open the app
2. Click on the top left corner to open the menu panel.
3. Click on Broadcast Receiver
4. Navigate to the System pane
5. Click on search on the top right. Search for Google Play Services. Click on them when they show up
6. In the search top right, write at least "sche" and you will see the two receivers responsible for the "net_scheduler wakelock, "SchedulerInternalReceiver" and "SchedulerReceiver".
7. Switch the first one off. The app will quit, don't worry.
8. Go back to where you were (steps 1 to 6) . You will see that you indeed managed to switch that receiver off.
9. Switch the second one off. The app will quit, again no worries.
10. Check if you managed to switch the second one as well. After that you're done!
So now you should definitely see less wakelocks and idle battery drain. I know there is nothing fancy in these methods but just thought of sharing this with you all

Anyone notice Facebook battery drain, well should I say abnormal drain. Using bbs it comes up as kernel keeping the device from going to deep sleep, but it's Facebook. If I'm on Facebook or was on Facebook and turn off phone it doesn't go into deep sleep at all, however if I clear Facebook from recents it goes into sleep immediatly. I can reproduce this every time. Have also reinstalled Facebook and cleared cache, to no avail. I'm familiar with other options so posts regarding that is useless. Just looking to see if anyone else has noticed or can reproduce the same behavior. Happens on stock and em kernel

There was no need to search as I saw what the problem was, and it only started happening after fb last update. Facebook has alot of wake ups but this is something different, and even when the app was closed my frequencies would be pegged. Just because you think you know and I know, doesn't me some random person may stroll across this and it be helpful to them
Did anyone try to disable battery optimisation for FB and test?
